1001 Albums Summary

Highlights: Black Sabbath, N.I.B. Lowlights: Everything after Evil Woman I didn't hate this album by any means, but it definitely is not something I'd listen to when I want a metal album. I enjoyed the first half very much, but the second half felt like they were just adlibbing to me, and most of the time it didn't really work. It was very interesting to hear how their sound started however and comparing it to what they became was fun.

Highlights: Shiver, Yellow Lowlights: Trouble, We Never Change It's an album. Don't really have any thoughts on it good or bad. I liked some songs but not enough to listen to them more. Chris Martin's voice also got a bit grating to me as the album went on, especially when he hit high notes. I liked how mellow it was, but that also caused the songs to feel really samey to me.

Highlights: Station to Station, Golden Years Lowlights: None, zilch, zero, nada I've only dabbled in Bowie music before this and can clearly see I've been missing out. Making a 10-minute song like Station to Station feel like a breeze is an achievement, especially to someone as easily distracted as me. I've learned I'll be hearing a lot more Bowie while doing this and I'm ready for a ride.

Highlights: Gloria: In Excelsis Deo, Free Money, Break It Up Lowlights: Birdland It's just slam poetry set to music. Birdland definitely made me think I was going to hate everything going forward but most of the album was enjoyable. I kept thinking this is something you could hear in like a low budget movie in the 80s or 90s because they didn't have money to license a major artist.

Highlights: Holidays in the Sun, No Feelings, Anarchy in The UK, Pretty Vacant, EMI Lowlights: Problems, Liar A really fun listen. Even songs I had problems with (like Problems LOL) were listenable, they just dragged on a lot for me. A very infectious sound that digs in and doesn't want to let go.

Highlights: Born in the U.S.A., Cover Me, Glory Days, Dancing in the Dark Lowlights: I'm On Fire The faster songs work a lot better for me. The major songs are still extremely topical to this day. Don't think I could daily drive any of these songs but if they came on I wouldn't switch em.

Highlights: Wanna Be Startin' Somethin', Thriller, Beat It, Billie Jean, Human Nature, P.Y.T. (Pretty Young Thing) Lowlights: --------------------------------------------------------- In the immortal words of Duke Nukem, "Hail to the King baby."

Highlights: Sure Shot, Sabotage Lowlights: B-Boys Makin' with the Freak Freak, Futterman's Rule, Eugene's Lament, Ricky's Theme, Bodhisattva Vow The interlude tracks do absolutely nothing for me and there's way too many of them. I enjoy some Beastie Boys every now and then, but a whole album was too much for me.

Highlights: Darkness, Do or Die, Love Action (I Believe In Love), Don't You Want Me Lowlights: Get Carter, I Am the Law Fun listen. Most of the songs could've done with being like a minute shorter. Most of the time the synths were good, but on some tracks, like the intro track, they felt rough.

Highlights: Love Her Madly, L.A. Woman, L'America, Hyacinth House, Riders on the Storm Lowlights: --------------------------------------------------------------- This is my first time listening to The Doors outside of an occasional single listen and it was different than I expected it would be. Nothing negative really, about half the album I enjoyed a lot and the other half was fine. Sometimes it felt a little too stripped down for me, but not too much to be a problem.

Highlights: Sign O' The Times, Play In The Sunshine, Housequake, It, U Got The Look, If I Was Your Girlfriend, I Could Never Take The Place Of Your Man, It's Gonna Be A Beautiful Night, Adore Lowlights: ---------------------------------------------------------- Yeah, this was amazing man, I don't know how else to describe it. 100% transparency, I've seldomly listened to Prince at all in my life, my favorite track of his going into this was Paisley Park. I've only heard one song off this album before (U Got The Look) and I didn't even know that until I heard it. So, I had no idea what I was really getting into here, but I'm so glad I was able to do so.

Highlights: Jeru, Venus De Milo, Budo, Godchild, Rouge Lowlights: --------------------------------------------- Objectively this is great music, but I can't see myself listening to it on a whim. By no means did I dislike it, but I have no desire to go back to it.

Highlights: War Pigs, Paranoid, Iron Man, Hand of Doom Lowlights: Planet Caravan, Rat Salad This is what I was expecting from a Sabbath album compared to their debut. Admittedly I am not a big metal guy. I have a couple songs I like over bands/albums. This was enjoyable for the most part, but its not the kind of metal I would go back to often.

Highlights: You Are The Sunshine Of My Life, You And I, Tuesday Heartbreak, Superstition, I Believe (When I Fall In Love It Will Be Forever) Lowlights: ----------------------------------------------------------------- As much as I enjoyed this, I didn't enjoy it as much as I wanted to. Don't know why, maybe it's just a bit too mellow for me. I still got tons of enjoyment out of this album and am looking forward to the other Stevie Wonder albums that show up, but I can't help feeling a little disappointed that I didn't absolutely love everything here.

Highlights: The Man Comes Around, Hurt, Bridge Over Troubled Water, Personal Jesus, In My Life, Sam Hall, Desperado, Wichita Lineman, Big Iron, We'll Meet Again Lowlights: --------------------------------------------------- Wasn't expecting to love this. I like Johnny Cash, I've listened to him basically my whole life, but I've never sat through a whole album. He breathes his own life into every song on this album. I have nothing negative to say or think about it.

Highlights: Drunk In Love, XO Lowlights: Haunted, No Angel, Partition, ***Flawless This album does nothing for me. Beyonce has her hits for sure and a great voice, but this album is just meandering and boring. Very disappointed. If this list gets updated again, I wouldn't be surprised if Cowboy Carter replaces this.

Highlights: A Minha Menina, Adeus, Maria Fulô, Senhor F, Bat Macumba, Ave Gengis Khan Lowlights: --------------------------------------------------------- What a treat. Absolutely insane album. I kept saying this sounds like Crash Bandicoot music over and over again and now I can't get that out of my head.

Highlights: The whole album Lowlights: ---------------------------------- Perfect beginning to end.

Highlights: Fit but You Know It Lowlights: Literally everything else Shit beats. Shit lyrics. Shit flow. Is this guy a nepo baby or something? This makes 3Pac sound like Kendrick.

Highlights: I Walk The Line, Starkville City Jail, San Quentin, A Boy Named Sue, Folsom City Blues Lowlights: ---------------------------------- Johnny Cash showing humanity still exists in inhumane places. Great performance and banter.

Highlights: (3 Is) The Magic Number, Jenifa Taught Me (Darwin's Revenge), Ghetto Thang, Eye Know, Tread Water, Say No Go, Me Myself and I, This Is a Recording 4 Living in a Fulltime Era (L.I.F.E.) Lowlights: Can U Keep a Secret, Do as De La Does This was a great fun listen, but the skits and interludes still don't really work for me. Seeing how I felt the same on a previous Rap album, maybe that's just something I don't get. Some of the mixing also sounded off to me, but maybe that's an effect of them needing to adjust samples.

Highlights: All I Really Want, You Oughta Know, Hand in My Pocket, Right Through You, Forgiven, Head over Feet, Ironic, Wake Up Lowlights: -------------------------------------- Another great album. Alanis has a great voice that works really well with the sound this album has. Leaning more towards a 5 than a 4. If this site keeps giving me good albums early, I'm in trouble when I get to the backend of this list.

Highlights: Sparkle City (Reissue only: Strawberry Letter 23, Ice Cold Daydream) Lowlights: XL-30, Pling! This was fine, didn't really do a whole lot for me. A large chunk of the album being instrumentals also didn't help. I listened to the reissue apparently, which has bonus tracks and it really shows because they were infinitely better than the original album. Solid 3, average. Probably wouldn't listen to again.

Highlights: Come Away with Me, Shoot the Moon, Turn Me On, Lonestar, One Flight Down, The Long Day is Over Lowlights: ------------------------------------ Great voice, very soothing instrumentation. Enjoyed it from cover to cover. Definitely sounded like a modern Joni Mitchell. Songs were a bit too samey for it to be a 5 but I was not disappointed in the slightest.

Highlights: Fell On Black Days, Superunknown, Black Hole Sun, Spoonman Lowlights: Mailman, Limo Wreck, Half Didn't do too much for me. Most of the album sounds extremely similar and almost every song is like a minute too long. Wouldn't say it's bad by any means, just, eh?

Highlights: Show Me, Poison Arrow, Tears are Not Enough, The Look of Love Pt.1, Lowlights: The Look of Love Pt.4, Theme from "Mantrap" 80s pop slop so pure I could feel the cocaine entering my system. Fun listen.

Highlights: The Pearl Lowlights: -------------- It's fine. Nothing really stood out and nothing was that bad. Definition of straight down the middle.

Highlights: Rocks Off, Tumbling Dice, Happy, All Down The Line Lowlights: Shake Your Hips, Casino Boogie, I Just Want To See His Face Not what I expected for the Stones. Wasn't bad but couldn't really get into it. Album could have done with being a single instead of a double, the more bluesy songs really took me out of it as well.

Highlights: Baba O'Riley, Behind Blue Eyes, Won't Get Fooled Again Lowlights: -------------------------- One of the greatest opened and closed albums I've heard. Everything was great, but outside of the hits it was all a bit too samey to be perfect.

Highlights: Biscuits, Bring the Pain, Release Yo' Delf Lowlights: -------------------- Mostly enjoyable. Good flow and beats, but his tendency to shout would take me out of it most times.

Highlights: There Goes the Fear, N.Y. Lowlights: M62 Song, Friday's Dust Felt really self-wanky. Most songs just melted into each other, and I could hardly tell when it was changing.

Highlights: Break My Body, Gigantic, River Euphrates, Where Is My Mind?, Cactus, Brick Is Red Lowlights: --------------- Great album. Biggest downside is it wasn't long enough.

Highlights: Cherry-coloured Funk, Iceblink Luck, Heaven Or Las Vegas, Frou-frou Foxes in Misummer Fires Lowlights: -------------------------------------------- Very fun listen. Great mellow vibes. Sure made my walk go by fast.

Highlights: Sumthin' Sumthin', Dancewitme, The Suite Theme Lowlights: ---------------------- Very smooth. Almost cartoonishly so.

Highlights: ...Welcome To The Working Week, Miracle Man, Blame It On Cain, Alison, Sneaky Feelings, (The Angels Wanna Wear My) Red Shoes, Pay It Back, I'm Not Angry, Waiting For The End Of The World Lowlights: --------------------------- This was phenomenal. Haven't listened to much Costello beforehand, but this blew me away. Loved every second.

Highlights: ---------------------- Lowlights: --------------------- Not a lot going on here. Just very boring.

Highlights: That's Really Super, Supergirl; Season Cycle; Earn Enough For Us Lowlights: Big Day; Another Satellite; Mermaid Smiled; The Man Who Sailed Around His Soul; Dying; Sacrificial Bonfire No idea what happened with the second half of this album, but it turned from a decent fun listen to one of the worst things I've ever heard in my life.

Highlights: Blowin; in the Wind; Girl From the North Country; A Hard Rain's A-Gonna Fall; Don't Think Twice, It's All Right; Bob Dylan's Dream; I Shall Be Free Lowlights: Down the Highway I vibed way too hard listening to this. Very approved.

Highlights: Bodysnatchers; Nude; Weird Fishes/Arpeggi; Jigsaw Falling Into Place Lowlights: ----------------------- Liked this a lot, excited to listen to more from them.

Highlights: Desafinado; Samba De Uma Nota So Lowlights: ---------------------- Chill maxed as hard as I could listening to this. Wouldn't mind it again but wouldnt search it out.

Highlights - Every song except Touched Lowlights: Touched Loved this, wish I could hear what anybody was saying tho.

Highlights: Regular John; Avon; If Only; Walkin on the Sidewalks; You Would Know; How to Handle a Rope (A Lesson in the Lariat); Mexicola; You Can't Quit Me Baby Lowlights: Hispanic Impressions; These Aren't the Droids You're Looking For; Spiders and Vinegaroons; I was a Teenage Hand Model Most of this album worked real well for me, but the instrumentals just felt like padding and the final track was physically hard to listen to. No idea why they thought to end it like that.

Highlights: Good Times Roll; My Best Friend's Girl; Just What I Needed; Don't Cha Stop; Bye Bye Love; Moving In Stereo Lowlights: ---‐------------------------------------- This unironically may be a perfect album. Loved every song, but the ones above were the standouts.

Probably the most schizophrenic album I've ever heard.

Definition of a perfect album

When I was younger I just decided one day that I did not like The Smashing Pumpkins without even listening to them seriously. It's a shame, cause an album like this would've hit me really hard if I gave it a chance.

Insanely well produced. If anything would drop this down from a 5 its the skits/interludes, which I guess I just hate on any album since I seem to always have problems with them.

I really liked the sound on this album. I know its not a very long album but it breezed by, which may have been a detriment.

This one's hard to rate. I think objectively it was a great album, but it was very hard for me to just get into it. By the time I did the album was almost over.

I don't know whether this is or isn't what I expected out of U2. It was fine, sure, but for a group the people seem to have very strong opinions on I couldn't see a difference either way.

Very surprised by the reaction to this album on here. It's not perfect, but some of y'all make this album out to be one of the worst of all time and I can't hear anything on this that would make me even fathom that. The Bee Gees are more than Saturday Night Fever and this album really showcases that.

The album is loud, energetic, and packed with swagger, with tracks like "Love Removal Machine" delivering plenty of attitude and driving riffs. The production is polished and powerful, giving the record a consistent, radio-friendly punch. That consistency, however, is also one of the album's biggest weaknesses. Many of the songs blend together, relying on familiar blues-rock riffs and straightforward structures that feel surprisingly generic. While the band performs with conviction, much of *Electric* lacks the distinctive personality that made their earlier work stand out. Instead of pushing boundaries, it often sounds like it's following a well-worn hard rock formula.
