The Chronic
Dr. DreA banger for the ages, arguably top 3 best rap album of all time if not number 1. There is no conversation about rap without Dre from the late 80s to today. Still waiting for that follow up to 2001!

It's like that, that's just the way it is
Too indulgent and dramatic. Not my favorite Radiohead album for sure.
Few songs stand out otherwise its like a demo tape of great house beats that don't change enough. Definitely early daft punk.
Fantastic album. Really funky and accessible Jazz.
The vanguard of 80s metal. Booming lyrics, face melting shreds, Judas Priest at its best.
Franz came out of nowhere and crushed it with this debut album.
Powerhouse and folky and weird at the same time
The Eagles only make greatest hits - funny that Hotel California isn't even a top 3 song in this album, with Wasted Time riding high at number one
Lo-fi vibes indeed, never heard pavement before but its cool to hear a new sound from the 90s
So funky and upbeat! Bossa Nova vibes deliver.
Fresh sound that belongs in Robert Rodriguez films but don't love it for everyday listening
It doesn't get better than CCR, period. All bangers.
Didn't love the sound
Motown brilliance
Muse makes banger after banger, not as good as their debut album but the new sound made them more commercial. Still a 5/5.
Not a fan. The tunes are just too soft.
THE KING
Fun, pre-sublime type ska funk
Blues is on point, language and cultural barrier are no issue
Epitome of late 90s groove + synth sounds. I also can't hear it without hearing Flight of the Conchords or thinking about the Matrix for some reason.
Bossa Nova always puts me in a good mood, and Bebel is a smooth as bossa gets.
As a kid, I was taught Beatles over Rolling Stones so I didn't discover their raw power until my 20s. Speaking of the Beatles, its crazy to think of the timeline this album came out in, considering the Beatles were already broken up. I really like this album, its core Rolling Stones, no big hits, just 18 super listenable jams.
I love The Who, from Tommy, to Quadruphinia. Its sad to hear this could have been another themed album and ended up being scrapped. Lots of hits in this one, guaranteed W.
The best band in the world doesn't have off days. The hits are big, the non-hits are classic beatlesy rock and roll/blues.
Great lyrics, chill tunes. Not a huge Simon and Garfunkel fan but enjoyed it.
I mean, yes its music, yes its punk, but it also sound like electric drivel. I am sure a few more playthroughs would make it palatable.
I don't know much Steely Dan but this album covers so much ground across genres, from classic rock, to jam bands a la doobie brothers. East St-Louis Toodle Oo is the weirdest song and yet I am drawn to it.
The softness of the lyrics doesn't hit with me, but the instrumentals are a mix of soft rock and almost grunge.
I joined this website to expand my music taste - Steely Dan has shoved itself in the best way possible, just like its namesake. Smooth, jazzy, jammy, harmonics on point, bluesy, I mean, what more do you want?
THE GREATEST UNPLUGGED ALBUM OF ALL TIME!!
J5 never dissapoints, one of the greatest lyrical hip hop groups of all time
Late 70s bollywood is a fun listen but not something I would add to my regular collection or play at a party. Unless it was a bollywood party.
Great album!! Gimme Shelter is a banger for the ages, and Love in Vain is as sad as the title and a great segue into the rest of the bluesy tones of Let It Bleed. Monkey Man and Midnight Rambler feels experimental, and the choice to finish with You Cant Always Get What You Want feels both internal for the band and external for the audience. What a record.
I've always liked Bowie the person more than his music, something about his Art pop just doesn't land with me all the time. This album is definitely in that same camp. Some fun songs, but its all very experimental and not cohesive for me. It feels like he made it for himself rather than his audience, which is fine but I didn't love it.
Hard to not award five stars for the biggest hit in the 20th century. However, really surprised with the prog-ness of this album, starting with the opener. Queen wanted a new sound, and the found it.
The prince of darkness, the godfather of metal, Ozzy rocked so every other metal and hard rock band could live.
2 stars for its experimental, yet still cohesive sounds. I enjoyed the lo-fi techno sounds, especially since it was in the 70s. Overall, this is a personal listen. To quote my wife "That is SO annoying"
The Yeah Yeah Yeahs are a super talent. Maps helped them achieve commercial success but I don't think they give a shit, their tunes are so raw and in your face. Its got Blondie vibes, the punk ala Scott Pilgrim distortion is a great sound, and I just want them to make music forever.
The album is beautiful and deeply sad at the same time. 100% soul.
Its broody and angsty, the brand of it is clear. I like the silky tones, it gives it a jazz/lounge singer sound.
The Oasis of their generation, Mr Brightside their Wonderwall. This album is perfection and not a one hit wonder for the band, their follow ups were just as good.
Feels like B-52s, useful for future samples. A bit droney.
Where have you been all my life?
Controversy aside, it doesn't get more talented that MJ and this album is mental. All the funk, all the freedom, you can tell how this was the headwaters for Thriller. This is MJ's transition from Jackson 5 to Michael Jackson.
The best album by the best band, top 5 stuff
Singer is talented but the melancholy is never ending.
Missy successfully transitioned into the new millennium with massive hits and a great vibe. This album is seminal for the 2000s.
As a prog child, this hits all of the right spots. It does get TOO creative in sections, but the title track "Court of King Crimson" is a forever banger.
Not my favorite style of hip-hop but you can't deny how foundational it is for the whole movement.
Solid disco funk, loved the bass lines
I can't think of another live album that makes you feel like you were there. The energy, the sound, the vibes, are all the right ones. Sam also keeps us on our toes by engaging with the crowd. The way he transitions from crowd work to his tunes is uncanny.
What? Am I being punked?
Hard to come up with bigger hit in the last 20 years than Clint Eastwood. The rest of the album has beat demo vibes but Del shines every chance he gets.
Great listen, uplifting funk that tackles tough subjects.
I am not a jazz connoisseur, however this had a great vibe to it. 3 stars because its multiple version of similar songs.
There is folk, and then there is sweet poetry readings to slow plucked guitar. If the latter is for you, then you've come to the right place.
1998 Kid Rock made some good dude rap rock.
Approachable yet technical Jazz, I love anything by Monk
Iconic. 4 stars because their 5 start album was their next effort.
Good intrusmental grooves
3 stars for the arrangements, 1 star for the singing.
Not for me at all.
Lots of range but it also felt like Fantasia at times.
Groovy and moody, I like it as a background brain food type sound.
Bossa Nova Electronica, long live Suba
Fun sounds
Not my jam at all and I like Brit Pop
I am so so on Depeche Mode, all of it sounds the same, broody halloween tones. This one was below par.
It's like that, that's just the way it is
5 start concept stuff, super fun listen and a slice of late 60s british pop rock.
Its sad but its solid folk
5 star album where all the songs play well, even in 2024.
A banger for the ages, arguably top 3 best rap album of all time if not number 1. There is no conversation about rap without Dre from the late 80s to today. Still waiting for that follow up to 2001!
Another solid Bowie outing
Not as good as Arthur, definitely early concept with more silliness than structure
fine but too slow and not my thing
Croony and classic, lots of love ballads
The most upbeat I've heard the duo, classic album
No, no, no.
Front to back, all strong compositions. You can hear his love for Roots and Blues in every song.
Uninteresting punk
Top class from Bowie on this one.
Garota de Ipanema and assorted songs are absolutely classics
60s and early 70s British Pop Rock sounds very similar to each other.
Willie's slower than usual tempo was never for me, even if he is doing a bunch of cool covers
What? Apparently spoken word is popular in this list.
fun album with a great sound
Masterpiece
Solid instrumental grooves for 90s electronica, like being in a club in Matrix or Blade worlds
Marvin was a thirsty dude
So smooth and commanding
Incredible debut from one of the greatest MCs in history
Chill beats and wide range, DJ Shadow knows how to make and keep a mood
Such a groovy album that never lets up, and much more about positive messaging and humanitarian concerns over his other thirsty album.
Raw vampire rock
Raw energy and a polished sound, the Duke is king
Headwaters of modern day metal
The GOAT album for Carlos
NIN isn’t my thing but it’s a solid album
Wonderful lounge music, Erykah is unique in her peer group. Also love that jam she did with the Roots
Alright Neal, pick it up
Bangers upon bangers
Pretty good if you like New Wave
flat vocals, strong drives
Not much substance Beyond Sweet Dreams. I do like the Jennifer track for the vibe it sets.
Led Zeppelin can't do wrong
the bangiest black keys album and the beginning of the decline
Fun late 60s shred sesh. Good tones and dedication to metal.
not my kind of country
I love Deep Purple - from distortion jams to hard driving beats.
Pure
Seminal rap album
House favorite, especially when Janis shows up and belts out her talents.
you can't be serious
Nah, not a Joni Mitchell fan at all
My favorite RHCP album, it hit at a crucial point in my life as a graduating high school senior. Love every song, especially road tripping.
Mid music for mid fans
Some soulful tunes and funk
far from the best (see: popular) Frank
Such a fun band and sound, especially in the early 2000s when it was all hoobastank and yellowcard
Fleetwood Mac is better with the hits
The Cure is a vibe
I've always loved the original and unique sound of faith no more.
nah, not something I want to hear again
Not THE seminal Bowie record but still a great listen
Good U2
BOWIE BABY!!!
Very good early british punk
It's Randy, but in the 70s and a bit more racy lyrics
The GOAT
Classic cuban vibes
My favorite Yes album, Rick Wakeman is absolutely mental in this
Standard Aerosmith sound, nothing special. I prefer the Big Ones album
Fun listen! Like a post-beatles hangover with a bit of Stones, and funky disco.
Gone too soon
Thoroughly enjoyed their sound. Like an early The Who
New wave sounds
A smashing success
He's just trying to have sex with you, and succeeding.
One of the best bands of the 21st century and this is just their debut album. Every song is a banger.
So acoustic and folky, love these layers from the Stones
Experimental Prog is like Jazz, sometimes you get it, sometimes you dont, and its always weird. I love this.
R&B disco and soul funk, so many samples from this album alone!
Game-changer in the genre, high school for me so seminal.
My favorite band, smashing it.
ok I guess
The founding fathers of "Fuck You" Punk music
absolute offkey nonsense
Energetic and nostalgic
Seminal 90s Grunge Punk
Part nostalgia, part good, part meh - like raw samples
nope
Great sound, familiar tunes, Dire Straits always nails it on the head
Average Radiohead album
Definitely the best of Fatboy Slim, like taking a time machine to the late 90s
Production is great, strong chords and arrangements, vocals not so much
The Goat of Guitar Goats, dude saw music as color and this was a rainbow of epicness
Classic hippie rock of the late 70s
Really enjoyed the early days of Stevie, more mellow than the 80s version
80s time capsule and a powerhouse
Groovy sounds, like prog rock but a bit more pop
Derreta meu rosto, deuses do metal
pretty underwhelming
Still Bowie, but far from this best stuff
the greatest of his generation
Not awful but not my tunes
just, no
Great tunes by Queen
early punk is cool, even if it takes a while to get rolling
average Doors, not the bangers
Its vibe-ee
Top of the charts 80s new wave banger
didn't mind it, didn't love it
Meat is Murder absolutely kills
Can't deny his influence in India and worldwide, especially when you take into account the Beatles and his daughter, Norah Jones
No one Zappa's harder than Zappa, and this albums Zappa's the hardest while still being manageable
I prefer mature Beatles (see Drugs) over 50's version Beatles but this still bangs super hard. When I close my eyes and think of the Beatles, I think of Cant Buy Me Love
Synchronicity + the biggest song of the year (Every Breathe You Take) makes this essential Police
Great tunes, great voice
Ice Cube doing his thing
the OG country ballad
Standard Dylan
Total banger, every song kills
Not a Joni fan at all...still
Clash never disappoints in classic British invasion punk
Seminal
So funky, so important
not my fave Elvis and mostly borrowed songs, but you can't deny what this did to the music industry
Its metal, and pretty good metal
Pretty chill vibes
Incredible live performance
Fun tunes, bit similar across but still fun
Banger
Legend
I liked Blondie before this, now I love her
not my style but relevant for the genre
Good vibe
fun tunes, strong mixes
absolutely not
such a fun album, I listened to the Beach Boys before I could speak english
killer blues and killer tracks
Cat/Yusuf flexing his best stuff
I dont think G&R has any non-5 star albums. Maybe the one that came out years later when Axl's voice was done.
Legend
less cheery than their usual sound
not horrible
chill af
There are better bands in their era but not sure there is one as popular
Good tunes in the genre of slow dancing country songs
Not bad for early Indie
Al Green is always five stars
fits its genre
Flawless
The goatiest goat
Absolute classic
Listenable
Solid 90s rap
Solid harmonies
its aight
good voice
Banger
Solid 70s sound

Canadian beatles
Good sound, classic 90s rock
I don't get the appeal
I dont get the appeal
Good, raw tunes
