Fever To Tell
Yeah Yeah YeahsNot my kind of thing. Listened to a good chunk of it. I had heard Maps before but it does have a different sound from the rest of the album, it’s more toned down. It definitely sounds like it’s from 2003 though

Listened to about half. I can appreciate it for what it is and I obviously have heard We are Family but not really my thing overall. I’m interested to see if any of these albums from back in the 70s/80s do anything for me because it feels like they’re not really my style and it becomes background music but I hope something surprises me.
I’m starting to question if this experiment is for me. I’ve heard of most of these albums and I love the idea of digging deeper into to songs I haven’t heard from popular albums but I’m finding it really tough to be engaged in these older albums. This is probably the albums so far that I’d heard the most songs from and you can’t deny that they’re hits but I don’t know, some of this stuff is just not my vibe and i dont know if it’s because it’s ‘outdated’ or I’m just not feeling it, regardless of age. But I’m hopefully I’ll hear something on this journey that I really love. I’m curious how many of these albums are more recent, probably not many. Also what the hell is up with Jamaican Jerk-Off??
I’m sorry, it’s bad. I’m sure it’s crucial to music history or something and I’m sure his stories are worth telling but it just sounds bad. Sorry to this man and to my music teacher from university who loved him. Edit: I’m back. I think I liked desolution row the best but maybe that’s just because it was the last one and I knew it would be over. I wonder how many times he said the word ‘said’ on this album.
I didnt know that big me was a foo fighters song so that’s something. I added it to my playlist which is the first time I’ve done that so far but also I think that was the only song I liked off of this album. Oh George was alright as well but the rest weren’t for me. Which is something I’ve been saying often in these notes I think. But I’m determined to keep listening because I think I will find something I’ll really like. At least this one was a bit more modern.
This is the first album I’ve heard through this journey that I liked. It was good songs and I didn’t immediately want to move on to the next song. Good stuff
Not for me. I could see a scenario where this goes on as background music in certain situations but it’s not something I would listen to again on its own. It felt very dated in some way which I feel a lot of these albums I’ve listened to so far have been.
I just wrote out a whole blurb and then the website froze and erased it. can’t be bothered to write it again. I liked the back half of the album a lot. It’s the kind of gem I hoped to find when doing this. Really good stuff.
Not as bad as I thought it would be. I’ve heard a few of the songs before and there were a couple of others that I liked. Not something I would go back to but not the worst.
Another one that’s not for me. I thought the first bit of the first song was very theatrical and I loved the direction it was headed but then once all of the instrumentation came in it wasn’t what I had hoped.
I really like this. It’s much more in line with the type of music I would listen to. I added Fly to my playlist. I enjoyed the mixture of instrumental tracks throughout the album. Good listen overall. Hopefully there’s more like this to come.
I enjoyed Let Me Roll It. And I had heard band on the run. This is not for me though.
Please give me something that’s not from the ‘70s. I beg of you. This was not for me. Again. We will keep trying.
Not my favourite. Will keep trying. I appreciate it not giving me another album from the 70s but it was very close… maybe something more different will come up tomorrow. We can only hope.
Lots of rock on this list huh. Not for me but I think if I hadn’t heard Paradise City or Sweet child o mine I would have at least thought they were interesting.
This was decent. Definitely one of the better albums I’ve heard so far.
I thought this would be one of the most interesting albums so far but it was actually one of the hardest to get through. I thought it would be good background music but it was difficult to determine when one song ended and other began, it was soooo long, and it wasn’t that interesting.
Kind of boring. The first half was better than the second half. One part of Rosy won’t you please come home sound exactly like another song that I can’t think of right now and it’s driving me crazy. I think it’s interesting how so many of these sound like a product of their time. I thought more of them would sound timeless but there’s only a couple that have. This wasn’t my favourite but I can see why someone who likes music from the 60s, likes the Beatles, etc would be really drawn to this. And I liked party line quite a bit.
Not bad but I like the more recent arctic monkeys sound better. You can hear it start to come through in the last song on the album. This was okay though. I appreciate finally getting a newer album.
This was really great. Part three went so hard it was really awesome. Even though this was only four songs at the beginning I was thinking that I appreciate jazz but I don’t understand the story they’re trying to convey but by part four I feel like I got the emotion and felt more connected to it. It’s a really great piece of art.
This album seems like a parody. I don’t know if that’s because other songs I’ve heard before have parodied it or something but it’s very strange. I think it might be because a lot of the lyrics are really cheesy. I didn’t hate it but there was stuff that made me laugh. And I don’t think that’s the point. I did like the last song quite a bit though.
My god that was long. I like her voice a lot but holy cow that was too much. I think if I knew more of the original songs maybe it would have had more of an impact. I knew a couple of them but not enough to justify 59 songs. That was insane. I don’t know who the audience Is for this but I wish them the best.
Not too bad. I appreciate what he was doing with this album im just not really a hip hop person but I can respect his craft and it seemed like a very personal album.
There is nothing worse than not really liking an album and then finding out the majority of the album is those same songs over and over just sounding slightly different but still the same. And the whole thing is over 2 hours long. Brutal. This was not my thing.
Was fine but nothing exciting. I had heard the singles before but nothing else really stood out to me.
Great album. This is definitely my favourite so far. I loved how theatrical it was. It sounded so much like Meatloaf. I guess it’s that era. Loved it.
Not really for me. I liked the first song. The spoken part at the beginning got me hyped up but then it was a bit of a jump scare when he started singing. But I still enjoyed it. But none of the other songs clicked for me. Something I’m noticing is a lot of these older albums are hard to understand what they’re saying. And the ones that I’ve enjoyed the most are the ones that are more clear. That seems to be my preference so hopefully there are more coming up in the future.
Not really my style but I can appreciate what they were doing. It’s very 90s.
Lots of instrumental. I’m surprised people like this so much. Maybe it’s really awesome when you’re high. Wish you were here is good but I just don’t really see the appeal to the rest of it. Maybe if i was really into guitars I’d like it more.
I always like a jazz album. I wish I wa more locked in when listening to this because I can tell it was really decent and felt timeless. I’ll have to go back and listen again when I’m not as distracted but it sounded good from what I heard each track. Jazz music goes so damn hard.
Really decent. It felt a bit repetitive at times but overall I really enjoyed it and I feel like this is something a lot of artists from the 2000 drew from. Or were inspired by this style.
Good album. I had heard a few of the songs before and they are great. Good stuff
I’ve heard Fever before but that’s it. Another album where I can’t understand what he’s saying. I thought I heard Frigidaire at one point and turns out I was right. Which was bizarre. Not the album for me.
Definitely the weirdest album I’ve heard so far on this journey. I can appreciate what they were trying to do but it didn’t land for me. That song this is what she’s like was insane.
I enjoyed this quite a bit. I liked the vibe and the flow. It’s the best hip hop album I’ve heard from this list so far.
Some of this was interesting but overall not for me. I did like the song We’re going to be friends though.
I liked this one overall. I think it’s one of my favourite 70s rock albums I’ve heard so far on this journey.
Oof this might be my least favourite vocally that I’ve heard so far. I didn’t mind the spoken word stuff but the singing parts are not my cup of tea.
Really solid album. I think it’s interesting that in the original version so many of the songs were combined with each other. I wonder what the choice was for that because in the 20th anniversary they are all separated and I think that makes more sense overall and it’s easier to digest that way. And even songs that were combined, only half of the song was a single so it’s a weird concept. Great album though.
Decent overall but it didn’t feel very cohesive and a lot of the songs were pretty forgettable. It was an easy listen but I don’t think it’s something I’d listen to again.
I enjoyed this and maybe I just don’t know enough about Johnny cash but I was surprised all of the songs were about prison… did he write them for this performance or are a lot of his songs just about prison and he had enough to make a set list? It was a bit shocking but I still enjoyed the album quite a bit. It flew by as well. A lot of these albums seem really long but this one was nice and short or at least felt that way.
Very forgettable. Nothing stood out to me or captured my attention.
It’s a good album. I wish I had spent more time paying closer attention to it but what I heard was really good. I’ll have to go back to it again and listen closer.
I’m a big lyrics person so listening to songs in other languages is hard for me to connect with. But I appreciated the vibe of this.
This was different than I thought it would be. Their singles really were the best ones huh. I’m not a fan of interludes.
Sorry this one just didn’t capture me. The John Coltrane jazz album was so good and I had high hopes for this jazz album but there was nothing that stood out to me and a lot of it sounded like cat screeching. Again sorry. But it just wasn’t for me.
Not for me.
Sounds like 70s rock. This list loves 70s rock. Still not for me.
Not bad. I had heard kick push before and I like it. Decent album.
Another rock album. It was fine but nothing I would go back to. A whole song about TV dinners huh?
Really decent. It flew by and I enjoyed quite a few of the songs.
Not for me
Not a fan of this. These long tracks kill me. Most of them are just not interesting enough to be so long. It works as background music a bit and I can tell they’re having fun jamming out but it’s just not my thing.
Started off strong with Protection but I didn’t really mesh with any of the other songs.
I liked this. I added two songs to my playlist which might be the most of any album so far? Broken Drum was sad. Overall really enjoyed the vibe.
Nothing really caught my attention with this one.
This was interesting. The jazz heavy stuff at the end caught my attention. The rest of it was just Joni Mitchell being Joni Mitchell which can be a bit repetitive. Most of it was not memorable.
I cannot express how annoying the intro and outro songs of this album were to me. And I did not care for the rest either.
It was fine
Not for me
Was decent and the singles are good. Still not really my vibe but I can appreciate it.
Decent album. I really enjoyed the first couple of songs.
I loved this. This might be my favourite so far. It’s very weird and I can’t believe how many of these songs I know.
Not for me
This was a delight. If I’m going to get rock albums from this list this is the kind I want.
