At least 4 all time great songs, but the rest of the album drags this down to a 4

Steven Hyden made me realize this album is outstanding and a massive leap forward sonically at the time
What an incredible collection of songs, and on a 2nd album.
"Fool's Gold" alone gets this album 4 stars even though the middle of the album, save for "Don't Stop," is kinda meh
"i" is a banger thanks in large part to the sample of "That Lady" I understand why this album is celebrated, but I don't foresee listening to it with any frequency
The intro to gangsta rap
Fuck Van Morrison
I didn't know this band and I think I know the reason why - this album is meh
At least 4 all time great songs, but the rest of the album drags this down to a 4
4.5, but that's not an option Classics and some lesser known, but really great songs
Some fantastic covers and some less than fantastic ones
Not my bag, but I understand Joan's importance to the folk movement
This one was all over the map. The opening track had me intrigued, but multiple songs using voice recordings wasted the potential for this one
The title track is outstanding. The remainder of the album can't sustain the awesomeness
I'm at a loss as to how this album stands out in any way other than being not that great
For all of the fluff T Rex seems to get, I found this utterly underwhelming
The hits are great, everything else is meh
A couple of good songs, but overall, I'm once again confused as to how this is an ALBUM I need to listen to before I die
I did not care for any song on this entire album
The core album was solid. I don't need to listen to a bunch of demos that makes the total album 40+ tracks
I wish I could rate this lower
Some great songs and some less than great songs on this album. He needs the Cardinals or Whiskeytown.
The songs that sound like The Smiths are solid. Everything else is boring, much like this douche is in real life
I miss Kurt Cobain
I wish I could give this a 4.5. I'm not sure it's a 5, but 4 seems too low. Excellent techno vibes
The song about long fingernails is fucking weird, and not in a good way
Sounds like very boring Beatles
Soundtracks are rarely great without the moving pictures. Perhaps this one works for the film. It is otherwise very meh
This is probably more like a 3.75, but I'm rounding up because there are several good to great songs
I knew more tunes than expected
Hard to listen to this swill. Who the fuck thinks I need to listen to this before I die?
I wish I could give this 0.25 stars, or 0 stars
Morrissey is a putz
This is a weird, and cringe, concept album. I'm sure it was well received 30 years ago, but porno like dialogue to open the album sets a bad tone and the gag gets old really fast
Odd tracking given that the back half is far superior to the front half
Several great tracks, several that are too avant garde for my tastes
I can't imagine ever being in the mood for this album
The first 3 songs are banging. The last one is solid. The middle - not my bag
Why in the ever living hell is a collection of cover songs considered to be an album I need to listen to before I die? The Stones are tremendous, but nothing about this album is groundbreaking or revolutionary
Before Kanye lost his marbles, or at least let everyone know that be lost his marbles
Sounds like Arctic Monkeys a lot at times
A weird hodgepodge of songs that seemed to have little connection to one another
I don't care for screaming vocals, but the music here and non screaming vocals are better than I expected
This sounds, at times, like a Spencer Krug starter album, but the slow songs are a major drag. We really need the ability to give partial ratings because this album is a 2.5 at best, but that gets rounded to a 3
