This is fine but it sounds like every other Jack Antonoff produced album

So many great songs on this album. Really excellent
There’s a lot to love about this album. It’s starts off with the title track right out of the gate which is something you don’t usually see. Duran Duran knew that this album was a bold statement. What I really loved are songs like The Chauffeur which has way more intricacy and complexity than you’d expect from an 80s new wave band
The skill of Mike Ladd is pretty impressive and this album is like listening to jazz fusion with hip hop vocals but I just couldn’t dig on it. Definitely an album you need to actively listen to versus cruisin’ in the slab
Great album. I did 4 instead of 5 stars because, even with the remastering, the mixing is still incredibly top-heavy.
This album is fantastic. My only possible criticism would be that they front-loaded the singles but even still, no skips on this one.
You can definitely hear the new directions and the experimentation going on in this album that would really be there subsequently on Pet Sounds. It’s interesting to hear Brian Wilson’s processes. The Beach Boys is one of those bands where it would be fun to go through the discography and enjoy the journey
I just wasn’t feeling this one. It’s fine but not really in the headspace to appreciate it
Very pleasant album. I also love seeing artists like Sza being influenced by these types of albums
What can be said about this album that hasn’t already been said? The production is fantastic, the content is amazing, and the fact that he was only like 20 when this dropped is a testament to Nas being the GOAT. Man, that first beat on New York State of Mind is just chef’s kiss
This wasn’t anything spectacular. Not really sure why it’s on this list
This wasn’t bad but not something I’ll listen to again
This one’s just full of hits but it’s also really well thought out in terms of the track order. The musicianship is also just insane
This wasn’t bad but I got a bit tired of it
Very pleasant album and dude is ridiculously good at his craft
This was a great protest album and just all around excellent jazz
The mixing is awful on this and can’t hear the vocals at all. I couldn’t get through it
This was a fun album. Parts of it were very industrial, other parts sounded like Manson, and then others sounded like Static X. Seems very ahead of its time
The fact that you can sing along to every song on this album is a testament to how good each one is. The entire album is great, musicianship is on point, and that voice is just unreal. So good
It’s a good album but definitely need to be in the mood for it
This is a masterclass in harmonizing. I also loved hearing the Afro-Cuban influence on Patterns that Paul Simon would take into his solo career on things like Graceland.
This is fine but it sounds like every other Jack Antonoff produced album
This just really doesn’t speak to me. I really do want to like it but every time I hear it I just think “meh”
I had never heard of this but I was surprised how good it was.
Good album. You can hear how this band influenced later 90s albums
Excellent jazz album. Love Brubeck
Masterpiece of an album and Q-Tip is such an incredible producer
Interesting album from them. You can hear the transition from the Indy rock of the older REM to the newer sound that they were really known for
Incredible album. So good
What can I say? Been a Slipknot fan for a long time and I love this album
This is a good album but I dig the more upbeat Swift music
Great music for the entire album
Cool album
Every song is great on this album
I really enjoyed this album. You can hear the influences, like Pink Floyd and Depeche Mode.
Not much uniqueness here
I have a soft spot for UB40 from car rides as a kid but I hadn’t heard the debut album. This is interesting as it’s not a pop-focused as the later stuff but the political messages are intriguing. It’s great for background music but not something I’d listen to on the regular. Also the as not expecting a reggae cover of Strange Fruit
What an epic album. One thing I noticed is that Bill Ward’s drumming is amazing on this. Izzy’s voice always gets the love you you gotta hand it to the other members as well
This album feels about 10 years ahead of its time. Really well done
Some excellent songwriting on this one
Classic and for good reason
Hotel California is definitely the standout on this but the rest of the album is ok
Excellent album especially when you get Clapton and Allman together
I really enjoyed this album
Great album. No skips
Added this to my Coding playlist
Good album here. You can hear that it’s from the 70s but it also has a lot more blues than you’d expect from something at this time. Not something I’d probably listen to a lot but still a good one
The songs themselves are ok but the mixing is awful and I couldn’t get past that
The hits are great on this but the rest is meh
Interesting voice and album
Not bad for a mainstream indie album. I can only take so much of this type of music at a time though
Not really my thing
Kinda dug this and Guthrie’s lyrics are just so good
Been a while since I listened to this. Such an excellent album
Excellent album. Between Guru’s flow and Premier’s beats, it doesn’t get much better
Not a bad album but def doesn’t have the hit factor of the previous one
I love this album and band so much. Corey’s voice is unmatched and the blend of metal and hip hop with the turntables is always welcome
Between Freestyle Fellowship and The Pharcyde, the West Coast really had something special in the early 90s
I dug this. It’s interesting to see how much it influenced Tom Morello’s Nightwatchman project
I’m putting 3 stars because, aside from the title track, the rest of the album is pretty much a snooze fest. McLean is a good writer but too much of the same type of thing
Excellent album
Love me some Roni Size though In The Mode is a better album
