Here, My Dear
Marvin GayeEnjoyed Is That Enough, rest wasn't really my thing
Enjoyed Is That Enough, rest wasn't really my thing
Enjoyed the back half more than the first 3 songs
Album slaps. Sledgehammer and In Your Eyes are classics obviously, but also really enjoyed That Voice Again and Big Time.
Look I'm not the biggest Beatles fan, but I'm also not a psychopath to rate this anything less than 5. Obviously some classics on here, like Blackbird. Also enjoyed Back in the USSR and Ob-La-Di, Ob-La-Da. Generally enjoyed side 1 more than side 2.
Hell yeah
Not really my thing, but enjoyed Pale September
Mostly not my thing, but did my find myself jamming to a couple songs. "Dance" and "Jazzie's Groove" in particular
This was an interesting one! Enjoyed "Cowboy" "Dragon (Icelandic)" and "Blue Eyed Pop"
I liked the folk aspects, wasn't too keen on the easy listening-esque parts. Enjoyed "One Of These Things First"
This is the kind of album I think of when I say I don't really like the Beatles. "And I Love Her" is the only song on here I somewhat enjoyed.
Enjoyed this slightly more than Here My Dear. Enjoyed "Let's Get It On" obviously, but also liked "Come Get to This"
Had somehow never heard of her, although I do listen to stuff that was clearly influenced by her. Particularly enjoyed "6'1" and "Never Said"
This is an album you put on during sex, and for no other reason.
Look this isn't one of the greatest pieces of human art or anything like that, but it is perfect drunk in a dive bar and everyone starts singing along to "Simple Man"
I enjoyed the Kanye beats, wasn't as grabbed by Common's rapping. "The Food - Live" was probably my fave on here
I like jazz! Really! But I could not get into this at all. Just 10 minute songs noodling around on the organ, did not grab me in any way.
I liked parts of this! Guy has a crazy voice! Enjoyed "That's The Bag I'm In" "Everything Happens" and "Sweet Cocaine" the most.
I wanted to like this more! The description sounded cool but it didn't grab me. "Brimful of Asha" was way too repetitive for me, but the Fatboy Slim remix is okay. Did enjoy "We're In Yr Corner" though
Already knew and loved "Stand" and "Orange Crush" obviously, but enjoyed "Pop Song 89" "You Are The Everything" and "Turn You Inside-Out"
"Here, There, and Everywhere" "She Said She Said" "Good Day Sunshine" "For No One" all rock
Can definitely see some of the influence this had. Enjoyed "Looking For a Kiss" "Frankenstein" and "Trash" in particular.
classic great live album
my poor ears
I knew and liked N.Y. State of Mind but I don't think I had ever listened to another Nas song, and this fucking ruled. "N.Y. State of Mind" "Life's a Bitch" and "The World is Yours" are all fantastic
This was tough for me, I'm pretty hot and cold on this album. I loooove "21st Century Schizoid Man" then "I Talk to The Wind" loses me. then "Epitaph" draws me back, then "Moonchild" reeeeeally loses me. and then I like "Court of the Crimson King!" I guess it all just kinda averages out.
This is fine, but very samey? "Step It Up" was probably my fave on here
I like Massive Attack! Mezzanine is a great album! But this one didn't really do it for me. "Karmacoma" and "Heat Miser" were the only songs I really got into on here
Mostly really dug this! "Sure 'Nuff'n'Yes, I Do" "Zig Zag Wanderer" "Call On Me" "I'm Glad" "Electricity" and "Plastic Factory" were all great!
It's okay! Not entirely my thing, but okay! "Pusherman" "Freddie's Dead" and "Superfly" were my faves
It's great. "Cracked Actor" "The Prettiest Star" "The Jean Genie" and "Lady Grinning Soul" were my faves on here.
I like parts of this! "Cult of Personality" obviously but enjoyed "Middle Man" and "Glamour Boys" as well.
Not really my thing, guess this guy might be why I didn't like Massive Attack's first album very much either. "Black Steel" and "Brand New You're Retro" were probably the ones I enjoyed the most
Finally someone I've seen live on this list! Even some of the songs on this album I've heard live! Generally I think Nick Cave was better live but I still like this album. "Stagger Lee" and "The Curse of Millhaven" are probably my faves on here, but this is the kinda music I have to be in the right mood for.
This is probably a generational thing, but I was expecting to have a really hard time not hearing Chef, and it actually wasn't for the most part, only every once in a while did it kinda come through! I think mostly cause he's so much younger on this. "Walk On By" and "Hyperbolicsyllabicsesquedalymistic" were my faves, and I enjoyed parts of "By The Time I Get to Phoenix" it just needed to be way shorter
This wasn't it for me. It sounded kinda like a bunch of different bands I like but without the parts I enjoyed. Hard to put into words. I fee like if you were a gen xer in the UK this is your holy grail but otherwise not so much. "Sorted For E's & Wizz" was about the only song I enjoyed on here.
This was okay, enjoyed the music more than the vocals. "Caught In A Mosh" and "Efilnikufesin N.F.L." were probably my faves on here.
This was an odd one. I get that this was supposed to be a movie soundtrack but it felt like at least 3 different movies. "Something Wicked This Way Comes" was about the only song I somewhat enjoyed here. Great album title though.
Easy 5. More familiar with Doolittle but already knew and loved "Where is My Mind?" and "Gigantic." Now having listened to the whole album can add "Bone Machine" "River Euphrates" "Cactus" and "Tony's Theme" to the list.
This is what they play at the starbucks in purgatory
This was fine, not really my thing. Enjoyed "I Want to Take You Higher" and "Sing A Single Song" the most
I liked the first half of this album a good amount, then it lost me in the back half. "Oh Yeah" was my favorite on here
I liked this more than I was expecting to! "Scarborough Fair/Canticle" and "Flowers Never Bend With the Rainfall" were my favorites on here.
This didn't really grab me at all. Extremely 80s and not in a good way.
Mostly ehh to bad for me. Did enjoy "Adam Raised A Cain" and "The Promised Land" though.
Generally I'm more of a Strokes or Interpol guy, but the three song run of "Mr. Brightside" "Smile Like You Mean It" and "Somebody Told Me" is pretty unimpeachable. That being said, the rest of the album is solidly okay for me.
This was very cool! Very vibey and ephemeral. Enjoyed "Cherry-coloured Funk" "Pitch The Baby" "Iceblink Luck" and "Heaven or Las Vegas" the most.
Biased cause I already loved this album, but easy 5/5 for me. "Down On The Street" is so so good, and I also love "Loose" "T.V. Eye" and "1970"
This really made me feel old in that it felt so early aughts and that that is an actual thing that can be identified now. That being said, the music was okay, but wasn't really into the vocals. "No Intention" was really the only song I enjoyed on here.
I've tried Thelonious Monk a couple times before and always just bounced off, not sure why. Started listening to this one, and was afraid the same thing was happening, but finally after a minute or two into the third song "Pannonica" it clicked for me. I still don't think I would seek most of these songs out, but very enjoyable to sit back and vibe to. "Pannonica" is my fave on here.
Always just had this filed away as the "Sabotage" album, but there was plenty of other good stuff here! "Root Down" and "Get It Together" were very good as well, and it was funny to where Prodigy got the Funky Shit sample from. Generally this album was more jazzy than I expected, which some straight up punk songs
This is mostly not my thing, although I do like a few of the songs, and the general sentiment. "Greetings To the New Brunette" "The Marriage" "Levi Stubbs Tears" and "Help Save the Youth of America" were all good.
Knew a couple songs off here, and already loved "Them Changes" but this whole album was great! Funky, groovy, jazzy, funny, and weird. "Captain Stupido" and "A Fan's Mail (Tron Song Suite III)" were my other faves.
I liked this way more than I expected to! The only ABBA song I think I could name off the top of my head before this was "Dancing Queen" which I don't really care for, but this was good! "The Visitors" into "Head Over Heels" into "When All Is Said and Done" was a great run, and probably were my favorites on here!
The best selling album of all time! I'm personally not a big fan of his music, its fine to me. That being said, the fact that "Thriller" "Beat It" and "Billie Jean" are all off the same album is crazy. But I think those 3 mega hits kinda blind everyone to the the fact that the rest of this album is merely fine? "Wanna Be Startin' Somethin'" is pretty good, but everything else was very forgettable to me. Except "The Girl Is Mine (with Paul McCartney)" which is actively bad and weird. Overall, it just averages out to merely fine for me. (Maybe an extra half point for giving us some great Weird Al songs)
This was weird for me because I like a lot of stuff similar/adjacent to this, but this just didn't really grab me. "White Winter Hymnal" I had heard before and is great though.
Look I can understand people having difficulty separating the art from the artist. I've had that with Kanye, I get it. But at least Kanye made good fucking music for a while there. I don't understand people's obsession with artists like Chris Brown or Eric Clapton, the music isn't even good.
Already had "I Might Be Wrong" and "Hunting Bears" on a couple playlists, but didn't know the rest of this album very well. Is it my favorite Radiohead album? No, but it's still very good. "Packt Like Sardines in a Crushd Tin Box" "Pyramid Song" and "You and Whose Army?" were other faves.
