1001 Albums Summary

A classic.

A bit too psychedelic for my tastes

Back when albums were a proper length. Good background music, with a few big hits in there to catch your attention.

With exception to Lovefool, the album was a bit too slow and 'same' sounding for my liking. Next!

I'll be honest, I couldn't always tell what they were signing, but somehow liked it anyway.

Wasn't my favourite. I suspect they are more well known from the musicians who have come from the band, than the band themselves.

Like listening to an adult version of Black Eyed Peas - some catchy songs, others were just noise

Initially thought this would be a good flashback, but it then descended into unnecessary expletives which spoilt the album

Wake up Maggy I think I've got something to say to you! Loved the album. What I liked equally was the Spotify Autoplay suggestions of TRex etc. assorted with this age and genre of music

Never listened to this before but enjoyed it. Pulp are pretty much known for 2 or 3 songs but their catalogue is worth a listen

Smooth jazz. Good background music, felt like I was in a lift for a very long time.

A unique album. Did make me realise my tastes have changed since Uni a little bit though

Nice album. Back story is also quite interesting how he essentially retired in his 30's, and before that he was more of a writer for others than a solo artist.

Not entirely sure why there was a coca cola and car advert in the middle, but a 'creative' album.

Classic 90s Brit Pop

Couple of classics in there.

Some recognisable sounds in here, but I found it all a bit the same throughout

Didn't enjoy this one I'm afraid.

Few more songs in there than I expected. Some catchy, some very telling of their age.

Some classics in this

This grew on me as the album went on. For the first few songs I thought it was just the usual Jack White nonsense, without the White Stripes beats, but it proved to be slightly better as I got into it.

Absolute nonsense!

I expected slightly better I'll be honest. One or two decent tunes, but the rest were so so and the album is only 35 mins long

Brilliant voice, good collection of songs, a nice listen. Her music probably doesn't get enough play time in the UK, given the volume of work that she has produced.

I nearly turned this off midway through track one, but decided to persevere and glad I did. Unusual but can see why it's in the list.

What an unusual collection of songs - there wasn't particularly a 'theme' through the album, but the songs themselves were okay. 3.5 stars if I could

I was waiting for this to turn up. To answer Wardy's comment - yes, peak Monkeys. There were rumblings of this band when I was in Sheffield in 2005 and it didn't disappoint.

Modern classic

Not his well known songs, but some interesting things. I'm not generally an Elvis fan, so score reflects this

Starts well but fades away a little towards the last few tracks

I've not listened to them before. From the band summary I was expecting something a bit more original and dynamic than this. Seems to be more 'exploratory and innovative' than any good

I recognised more on here than I was expecting, and lots of songs that have been sampled in more recent years

Enjoyed it more than I expected from the group name. Especially as it calmed down after a couple of tracks

'Chaotic' is the only word that comes to mind

One hit wonders, they'll never amount to anything ;-)

Started well, with songs I recognised, but then got a little boring as the album went on

Good album. Often overshadowed by Back to Black. Wonder what she'd be doing today.

Liked it more than I did when it came out, but it's still not my favourite. There is some entertainment value now being able to listen with the words in front of me - some of the lines make no sense at all.
