A classic.
A bit too psychedelic for my tastes
Back when albums were a proper length. Good background music, with a few big hits in there to catch your attention.
With exception to Lovefool, the album was a bit too slow and 'same' sounding for my liking. Next!
I'll be honest, I couldn't always tell what they were signing, but somehow liked it anyway.
Loved it! Reminded me of Uni days
Not my thing at all. Endured to track 5 then had to call it a day
Wasn't as good as I remembered/ expected
Not listened to much Dylan before. Was quite good for a work focus session
Wasn't my favourite. I suspect they are more well known from the musicians who have come from the band, than the band themselves.
Enjoyed it, been a few years since I listened
After joking about country music, I can see why this is in the top 1001. Yeehaw!
Like listening to an adult version of Black Eyed Peas - some catchy songs, others were just noise
Bleh. Too slow and melodic for my taste - probably useful if you need something to fall to sleep to
Some absolute classics on this. Great listen
Another of those where you can understand why it's in the 1001, even though it's not my usual choice. Good listen, though probably wouldn't listen a second time
Initially thought this would be a good flashback, but it then descended into unnecessary expletives which spoilt the album
Wake up Maggy I think I've got something to say to you! Loved the album. What I liked equally was the Spotify Autoplay suggestions of TRex etc. assorted with this age and genre of music
Never listened to this before but enjoyed it. Pulp are pretty much known for 2 or 3 songs but their catalogue is worth a listen
Useful background music, but the songs all sounded very similar
Made it to track two, but only because they don't 'sing' on track one. What a load of rubbish.
Enjoyable, even though half the time I had no idea what they were signing
A classic.
A genre I didn't know existed, and one I probably won't be going back to - I like a lyric once in a while
Smooth jazz. Good background music, felt like I was in a lift for a very long time.
A unique album. Did make me realise my tastes have changed since Uni a little bit though
Nice album. Back story is also quite interesting how he essentially retired in his 30's, and before that he was more of a writer for others than a solo artist.
Not entirely sure why there was a coca cola and car advert in the middle, but a 'creative' album.
Classic 90s Brit Pop
Couple of classics in there.
Some recognisable sounds in here, but I found it all a bit the same throughout
Superb album.
Decent tone but didn't have a clue what he was singing about
Took me back to 2000's Barnes. :-)
Funk, funk, funkety, funk. Enjoyed it more than I expected.
Classic from the Mondays
Didn't enjoy this one I'm afraid.
Little bit slow for me, not Stevie's greatest album
Liked it more than I expected, until about track 5 where it just seemed to derail and go a bit too psychedelic.
Too heavy for me
Enjoyed listening to this more than expected. Didn't make it to the end of the album though
15 minute songs for the win
I find their songs all a bit too similar
Too heavy for me
I've never listened to this album before. Classic Kinks.
Not a clue what that was about, but some bits were melodic
It's Joni Mitchell, so I struggle to score more than 3. Can understand why it's in the list, just not my thing.
It's Pulp, what's not to like
A whole lot of funk
I can understand why it's in the top 1001, but not my thing
Wasn't as good as I remembered
As I suspected, boring
Sounded a bit like a Bond soundtrack in parts.
Some good tunes in here. I definitely recognise track 2 for somewhere (maybe a car advert?)
Nope, nope, nopety, nope.
Suspect this is included more because of who they are, rather than the music
It's okay, just not as good as Aladdin or Ziggy Stardust
Never heard of them, but a brilliant album full of guitar riffs
A couple of good songs, does not make a good album, especially when those good songs are overplayed
Not really my thing, but can understand why it's on the list, and a bonus star as it seems to be a good production (rather than just noise)
Wasn't expecting so many hits in there
Bit boring
A modern day classic
Skilled musician, but not my thing
I expected better
Enjoyed it much more than I was expecting. Will definitely listen to this again.
Easy listening
Few more songs in there than I expected. Some catchy, some very telling of their age.
Some classics in this
This grew on me as the album went on. For the first few songs I thought it was just the usual Jack White nonsense, without the White Stripes beats, but it proved to be slightly better as I got into it.
Not sure why this is in the top 1001
Absolute nonsense!
I expected slightly better I'll be honest. One or two decent tunes, but the rest were so so and the album is only 35 mins long
Too heavy for me
Some good, some a bit depressing
Brilliant voice, good collection of songs, a nice listen. Her music probably doesn't get enough play time in the UK, given the volume of work that she has produced.
Better than I was expecting
Just a bit bland
I nearly turned this off midway through track one, but decided to persevere and glad I did. Unusual but can see why it's in the list.
Good background music
What an unusual collection of songs - there wasn't particularly a 'theme' through the album, but the songs themselves were okay. 3.5 stars if I could
Liked it more than I expected
Turned it off as it was rubbish
Not my thing
I was waiting for this to turn up. To answer Wardy's comment - yes, peak Monkeys. There were rumblings of this band when I was in Sheffield in 2005 and it didn't disappoint.
Modern classic
Not his well known songs, but some interesting things. I'm not generally an Elvis fan, so score reflects this
Little bit heavy for me
Starts well but fades away a little towards the last few tracks
I've not listened to them before. From the band summary I was expecting something a bit more original and dynamic than this. Seems to be more 'exploratory and innovative' than any good
Never listened to these before, quite enjoyed it
I recognised more on here than I was expecting, and lots of songs that have been sampled in more recent years
Enjoyed it more than I expected from the group name. Especially as it calmed down after a couple of tracks
'Chaotic' is the only word that comes to mind
Not my thing, but can understand why it's in the list as she's a superb voice.
Background listening. That's about it
Classic Santana
One hit wonders, they'll never amount to anything ;-)
Started well, with songs I recognised, but then got a little boring as the album went on
Good album. Often overshadowed by Back to Black. Wonder what she'd be doing today.
Played it a lot when I was younger. Still like it.
I was expecting this to be better.
I've never listened much to Massive Attack - wasn't what I was expecting (better than expected)
Not your classic Beach Boys, and I wasn't particularly fond of it
I'd give it a zero if I could. Out of tune, drones on. No thanks
Has withstood the test of time
Bit heavy for me, but I can see why it's in the 1000 list
I quite liked this
Not full of concert anthems like some of the other albums, but still a good listen.
It's okay. Starts to all sound the same after a while
No thanks
Starts well, a bit more upbeat than other U2 stuff, but tails off towards the end of the album
Some classics in there
Bit boring
Liked it more than I did when it came out, but it's still not my favourite. There is some entertainment value now being able to listen with the words in front of me - some of the lines make no sense at all.
An album with a few good singles, rather than a good album in my view
Nearly fell asleep in track one. Pass.
What an unusual collection of music. Didn't love it, didn't hate it
Good voice but boring songs
Not quite as good as I remember, though there are some tunes in there
Rhymes weren't bad, language lets it down for me
Not a big Smiths fan
Background music, not much more
Set the tone for a lot who came after. So many samples from this album used in subsequent songs
Okay, not amazing
How is this over 30 years old! I get why it's on the list, but not really my thing
Some decent singles in there, but not convinced about the rest
Not an R.E.M. fan, but can see why some will like it
I've never listened to Burning Spear, but really enjoyed this album.
Liked it more than I expected
Having never heard of the artist, I knew loads of the songs (and they were good ones)
Rubbish
Never heard of them but great album
Okay in the background but nothing special
Forgot how good this was, and why I listened to it loads when it came out
4.5 if I could
Just noise
Having only heard one of their songs before I wasn't sure what to expect, but this is a pretty good album.
One or two decent songs, but on this list because of who he is IMHO
Not as good as I expected
Quite enjoyed that
Never heard of Beach House, but this was surprisingly quite good
Made it halfway through the first song before turning it off
No thank you - too depressing, especially on a Friday morning
Iconic tunes, setting musical trends for years to come
Good, but I'm not sure it actually represents Jamiroquai's greatest hits.
Not a big punk fan. This didn't change my mind
No thanks
I can see why some people will love this, but it's not for me
Not exactly full of tunes
Classic Beatles
What an album!
I get why it's in the list, but it's not my thing
Like it more than I expected
One decent song, the rest are so so
Not a big Nirvana fan, but this is a great album
Only ever listened to his singles, rather than album. Not too bad
A couple of decent songs, but others are a little slow
Classic
Gave up after two tracks
Not a Johnny Cash fan
It's James Brown, so it's good, though I prefer some of his more dynamic songs
Good, but not quite as good as I remembered. Driven really by a couple of key songs
