I enjoyed this new to me album. Some good tunes, but not sure if I would revisit.
This was on the border between a 3 and 4. I hadn't listened to them, but I enjoyed. I don't know how often I would return to this one.
Three points because I loved my time in Germany. But outside of that, not the pinnacle of goth for me.
I only made I through half this album before giving up.
A classic. Her voice is spectular
‚More recent‘ Radiohead. There are some breath taking songs, but the album overall is not my most favourite version of Radiohead
Love Joan Armatrading. A perfect folk album.
Not my most favourite CCR- but a solid album for Sunday afternoon tunes
it's a classic d+b album, but just not for me.
A classic 2010s album. Some real bangers on this one.
A classic album, but not for me
Just not for me. Much prefer CRJ or Charli XSX and other pop artists.
Too chill
A blues classic.
I prefer Elephant- but there are some jams on this album too. Little Ghost has always been a song I loved.
a fun listen!
I enjoyed this more than I thought I would. A little rage to meet my own rage.
Hit me in the feels
A little too country
Never heard of them - thoroughly enjoyed and would listen again.
Glad I went to prom in the 90s…
A perfect combination of tunes. Makes me nostalgic for high school and driving around with my dad to job sites.
A Meat Loaf master piece. Strong lyrics, fierce vocals.
Definitely Oasis‘s best. A laid back Album with some iconic songs that transport me back to summer camp bonfire sing alongs (in a good way).
All the feels
I like the idea of Joan Baez and she has a feel songs that resonate, but this album was a little too whiny and not enough Joni.
Not my go to Massive Attack album, but it’s warm and embracing. A lovely listen.
I have to admit I knew a few songs- making my twin brother in 2000 proud.
We are jammin- ok that song may not be on this album, but Bob Marley’s vocals and immense song writing skill are on full display.
I didn’t mind the listen through, but I don’t imagine revisiting often.
I love that Eric Clapton was reportedly exhausted by the number of supergroups, so he formed a... supergroup.
I enjoyed this one more than the last, but ultimately Brian Eno may just not be for me.
I hadn't expected to enjoy this as much as I did. Spaceboy really spoke to me. An all around good listen. Would revisit again.
A perfect album.
Unlike anyone else
an excellent classic album
I hadn't hear of Hugh Masekela before. Discovering this album through the 1001 album generator has propelled me forward.
A perfect smorgasbord of Beck's sounds and lyrics.
Just want to sit in my shangri la.
Funny to think that this album is considered EDM. 1994 went harder than 2024.
I enjoyed this new to me album. Some good tunes, but not sure if I would revisit.
Foxey album!
XO>E/O> F8. Four stars within the context of ES‘s discography.
it packs an emotional punch. Otis Redding knows what he is doing.
it's no flute album, but this sends me back home to Atlanta.
A perfect rock and roll album
Nico, my dark dark German angel.
British rap- I enjoyed your vocals, but the overall composition didn't hit it for me.
Whoa- some of the songs are just loud noise. But I preserved and enjoyed a few tracks like Lost.
An enchanting album
A totally ok rock album.
The monotone ramblings always get me.
honestly an enjoyed this album on the rainy commute to Etobicoke. Stupid Girl has held up.
A little unnecessary
Bosa nova doesn't get much better. A perfect album for cooking dinner with friends with a glass of wine.
My main reference point for Duran Duran was the Moldy Peaches song "Boyfriend". The hits are hits, the rest was blah.
I was excited to learn that the lead singer of the Pixies had another band. I wasn't in love, but there were a few catchy tunes.
Queens of country, but this didn't land for me.
Hommood and I had a good hard rock dance to this album. Making memories with good music.
A master piece.
So amazing classic Beatles tracks- In My Life, Michelle, Nowhere Man, I’m Looking Through Me…
Not as familiar. Very psychedelic
a solid rock album
A surprising new listen. Bill Evans Trio really pull off this live jazz album.
It's cool, not my favourite.
a great jolt on a Tuesday- Tori's songwriting skills are on excellent display in this album
I tend to love West African music and this blues album delivers, but falls below Ali Farka Touré greatness
This album is way longer than I thought. Some hits, some dudes.
never heard of the band before. this was a lovely french bop.
Well, my friends are gone and my hair is grey I ache in the places where I used to play
Some jams, but not my jam.
Got to rep my neighbouring 'hometown'
a great relisten.
Massive Attack did it better. The highlight tracks are when the music leans toward MA's style.
A classic.
I mean, ok, sure.
More nostalgic than good.
My favourite Smiths album
Missy is the GOAT
I didn't realize how many Zombies songs I knew. Some real classics. A very enjoyable weekend listen.
I was not in fact ready for the screaming. I have never dived into John Lennon's solo work, but I enjoyed this listen.
very enjoyable.
I was not familiar with this Steely Dan album, but really enjoyed it. East St Louis Toodle-oo made me smile.
White Stripes forever. Jack White is better in a pair.
Just an all around cohesive album. A great weekend listen.
A surprise! What a wonderful album.
Bjork does not mess around. A pleasure to listen to.
That gravely voice- so good.
Brit rock isn’t always my thing, but I enjoyed a few songs on this album including Rise and Ease.
This is a Mateen album.
I only made I through half this album before giving up.
Whatevers
I actually love this album. Not my number one, but still so good. Stevie is always deserves a five star!
Absolutely so 80s. I hadn’t ever listened, but thoroughly enjoyed. Loved the 80s radio show cut.
Eh
Meh
Not in my childhood or adulthood rotation, but thoroughly enjoyable. Not sure I would come back to it regularly though.
I have to admit I have repeatedly stated I dislike Coldplay over past 15+ years, but haven’t listened to them in all that time. Yet I really enjoyed listening to this album- maybe I just needed a second go around with them.
I can't believe this is David Bowie's 25th studio album. Not his best work, but enjoyable nonetheless
Head banger
This wouldn't be worth a re-listen for me. But I enjoyed the head banging why I was banging my head through a design review.
Maybe the 5 stars is for nostalgia, but I don’t care. Seeing Dirty Projectors in Berlin was beautiful.
Enjoyable, but not life affirming or life altering- which are the only ways to get 4 or 5 stars
5 out of 5. life altering Bowie. Nueköln makes me nostalgic for Berlin. A Bowie best.
Love his voice and his early 2000s weirdness.
A safer CB album. My dad would be proud at my four star ranking.
Imagine a better album
A beautiful album.
This was on the border between a 3 and 4. I hadn't listened to them, but I enjoyed. I don't know how often I would return to this one.
Is it the best Tom Waits album... no. But is it still a Tom Waits album... yes.
A hot rat album for a hot day. Not peak Zappa, but a fun listen.
Yeah Yeah Yeahs… more like yes yes yeses!
I think the artistry is there- deserving of a 4 star, but alas it doesn’t completely resonate with me.
An iconic album.
Happy to have been a white person whose soul was touched.
This was on 3/4 line for me. But I couldn’t think of a song or a moment in the album that truly struck me- so 3.
Solid reggae, but not something I would come back to
A hit.
Hallelujah.
I liked the musical blend.
Creepy spa music. I feel brainwashed.
Not much better
Tracy Chapman's blend of folk resonates with me.
If I had to listen to the Rolling Stones, I would listen to Aftermath. But I don't often listen- not my favourite product of the mostly male rock scene of the late 60s/early 70s.
Three points because I loved my time in Germany. But outside of that, not the pinnacle of goth for me.
It was dark. But it resonated. I really enjoyed exploring this album and a genre I am not that inclined to listen to.
The Flaming Lips are better live than records. But still an attractive, full album- it just misses the 5 star mark for me.
Elton John- come on. He gets a four star.
3 stars for nostalgia.
The album is great. I'd imagine it's the middle of the pack of the 1001 greatest albums- it belongs here, but it's not good enough to crack the top 100.
There are highlights like Love the One Your With, but CSNY is far superior- Stills should have stuck with the group albums.
Get after that guitar Santana.
No hook, line or sinker. Completely forgettable.
There are classics here. but I have a hard time ranking this as a 5 since most of the albums are just really excellent cover songs.
The world building, the made up language, the loneliness. Only Sigur Rós can suck you in and put you through this perfect Icelandic emotional spin cycle.
Despite all my rage, I still just in love with album. It’s not perfect, some tracks seem redundant. But the nostalgia is strong and some songs just well with emotions and continue to have impact on the music world.
I don’t know. He’s talented but his albums don’t stick.
Again struggling to highly rank a cover album. But there are good tunes here.
I was surprised to know a few of the songs, even though I hadn't heard of the band before. A solid britpop album.
An absolute pleasure to listen to. The King of big band swing on a Sunday- can't be beat.
A perfect album, a perfect rock star
My fondest memories with my dad is driving down the California coast singing Van Morrison. **chefs kiss**
Another great Brit album
a glorious album
I once saw Sting perform on Halloween and he wore a bumblebee costume. That was the best part of the concert. Iconic songs on this, but the compilation falls flat.
My bestie played a show with him I. Atlanta awhile back. And since then songs on the album have been in the regular rotation. He does his style well, but there could be slightly more variety
Come on- walk this way is great.
A perfect album.
Such a strong start and they only got better with time.
A perfect live album with the voice of an angel.
The Stroke‘s were always my brother‘s territory. I felt strongly as a teen that they were a pop version of a real rock and roll band. But I have to admit now, this album totally slaps.
I can’t rank him higher than 3 on shear principle of the matter. But also, i don’t love this one either.
Honestly I am impressed with how many hits are on this album.
I love Joni, but everything else she has done is better than this one
Chefs kiss. It is THE groove.
let the good times roll
A beautiful album.
Some real head bangers here, but I still only come back for the hits
I was excited for this one, but nothing stuck for me.
David Bowie is the only thing making Eno relevant
Not sure about all the songs, but there are some bangers
Not an album I was aware of. Didn’t love it, didn’t hate it. A bit forgettable
I know I should love them more because of the Georgia connection- but it’s just eh. These 90s albums don’t hit for me.
Way too all over the place. Frantic jazz is just not for me.
It's a fun and dynamic album, but it's not my favourite of the Pixies. Nice to see them on this list though
What a queen
Alright Joe- getter done.
Would have rather Eno- and that is saying a lot.
For the genre, a four. For my taste, a three.
Yes, it’s nostalgic. But nostalgic for my brother. There are one or two songs that I enjoy, but overall without the nostalgia- it doesn’t hold up.
This album has it going on.
Make those instruments sing DUKE
A perfect album. I almost exclusively listened to this album one summer in Ithaca and every time a song plays- it makes me smile.
I teetered between a 4 and a 5- but when you listen to this album, you can’t help but dance. MJ at his musical finest.
I was shocked on how much I liked this strange album
I mean- it’s good if you are into country. But this ain’t it for me.
Eh- I think it’s over hyped. The lyrics really kill me on the inside.
Just a classic
Ok ok we get it, you are breaking the law.
One point off for being way to synth for my ears.
Some great tunes on here. I will return.
Wow- so 80s before the 80s
