Ugh. I thought this list had hit the lowest of lows when I had to endure an hour of Limp Bizkit but this tops that pile of stank shite. This sounds like if Father John Misty had no edge. The most boring musical accompaniment to the most cringey lyrical content delivered in a voice that would put me to sleep if it wasn’t actively pissing me off. Why the fuck is this something I had to hear before I died. I might die now. Less than one star.

Surprisingly great. Haven’t really listened to DM since I was a wee lad of 14. Of course I had heard the singles, but playing it from front to back was a joy. Intricate production, catchy songs, moody without being maudlin.
Never thought I’d reach that age where this sounds right, but alas I have reached that age. Well sung and recorded. Kind of forget sometimes that there’s actually singer songwriters who can you know. Sing and wrote songs. Without a bunch of over-production. First came to Norah through her great renditions of Black Hole Sun and the Beatles’ I’ve got a Feeling. Nice to spend some time with her originals as well.
Wow this is so not for me. Yes they are competent musicians but it boggles my mind who this is for. And why Chris Martin sings the way he does. He seems to be apologizing in every song and that gets tedious. At least no song is much longer than three minutes.
The Roots. Where have you been all my life? Love their mix of live instrumentation plus some drum and bass elements. I even hear traces of Bad Brains on a couple tracks. Wonderful, vital, revolutionary.

Don’t know if I’ve ever been completely on the Gram train, but this album is a solid one. Think it’s more that I’m not the biggest country fan, and still don’t quite get why he’s so important and constantly referenced in rock crit circles.
All the Irish music you will ever need and then some.

All over the place and very much of its time. But it’s a good start. I prefer Post from this period.

More inoffensive hair salon mousketeer Muzak. I prefer Dick in a Box.
Stone cold classic and still sounds fresh after all this time. They’re so young, working with their limitations in such fun creative ways. My little 16 year old suburban mind was blown away by this. This is/was the sound of New York City (ok I know-maybe actually Queens) to me. Before I discovered the pleasures of the Velvet Underground. But that’s another story.

Ugh
Absolutely worthless.
Time to set the balance back. Sure it sounds like living an actual acid trip and I wouldn’t want to be there every day. But that’s why there’s other music to listen to. This also is perhaps the biggest influence on my last musical obsession: Freak Folk.
Like Godot before her and Josie after her, Sister Ray never shows up. The narrator’s loss, but our gain.
One of Storm’s worst covers, and one of his last. Appropriate perhaps? Cover art aside this was fkn amazing.
