Reviews (page 16 of 16)

Pretty cool, and interesting to see where people have joked about this before, plus "When my guitar slowly weeps" is just such a banger

not really a fan of double albums. should have been 1 album of really good songs

Lives up to the hype.

This is silly.

Loving it, hard not to find at least one song you'd like in here.

Sexy sadie bester Song

Amazing album. Definitely not perfect, rough around the edges at times but all in all, there's enough great songs to form a 10/10 album. 9/10 1. Happiness is a Warm Gun 2. While My Guitar Gently Weeps 3. Rocky Raccoon

One of my favorite Beatles albums. Couple of odd ones, but the rest make up for it.

I mean, what can you say about this album that hasn't been said? It's such a complete experience to listen to this album, even though some songs are simple, and poppy, there are songs like "Yer Blues" that are sadly unheard by people, which is criminal. this is definitely one of my top 20 albums i'll probably ever hear in my life.

Super long but great tunes 4.75/5

Shelter Skelter was a genuine surprise and a delight. Punk! I thought the beatles were all more like While My Guitar Gently Weeps which I enjoy too and know is good but it doesn't surprise and delight me. Maybe because I've heard too much like it.

Yup. A few tracks that are just blatantly bad but with over 30 tracks and a handful of gems, it’s an easy 4.

Some weird and skippable tracks on this album but the good tracks are so good they make the whole listen worth it

Everywhere you can be, one song at a time.

Y me apegaré a ello.

Tantas rolas buenas en un solo disco... uno de tantos

Impeccable

An absolute classic

Wowza what an album, never really listened to the Beatles before this and holy cats am I dumb

Great album, but Revolution 9 is such a strange Song 😅

Very cool awesome album very distinct songs

Here's my hot take on The Beatles. Everything I hear about them centers around how excellent/original they were, or how overrated they are, or the dynamics between the band members, or hidden messages in their songs. No one talks about just how freaking weird their music is. I can't think of too many bands that have lyrics as strange as The Beatles. I was surprised to see that The White Album was 31 tracks long, especially since there weren't really any "filler" tracks. So from a value perspective, this record was an A+. The album was eclectic, as only a 31 song album could be, and I liked most of it. Back in the USSR is probably my favorite Beatles song (what can I say, I like jams) so that was a nice way to start off the record. Paul and John have near perfect rock music vocals, to my ear, which adds to the quality of the record. Overall, I think this lived up to the hype. My personal enjoyment: 3.5/5 Did it belong on this list: 5/5

All I knew from this before was While my Guitar Gently Weeps and the Revolutions. I still think "Weeps" is my favorite song from the album (for nostalgia reasons), but I really understand now this album has received universal praise since it's release (and also why parents thought rock was devil music). This album is disjointed in all the right ways, basically inviting you to want to learn more about the Beatles and their story. All four of the members have songwriting credits appear somewhere on the album, and it's apparent especially when Paul and John weren't writing together. Fookin hell, I didn't think I would actually be able to write more than Alex on any particular entry here. Looks like I'm the winner this time, hehehe...

the shorter more rock songs were acc cool. first side was better. so many unnecessary songs?

good but not good enough

There's a bunch of rubbish on here, but also some ab so lute slappers

absolute classic innit man

My album today is the White Album by the Beatles. There looks to be a lot of upheaval during the recording of this album. And people talk about how fragmented and disjointed the album is. It's also the first album where Yoko Ono became part of the recording process apparently. Which affected the connection between Lennon and McCartney. I think it's always something that sounded like the individual parts of the album didn't always come together to make a cohesive presentation like other albums. But there are songs and moments on the album that stand up there with any of the major work that the Beatles have done. It's always been a great listen, no matter where I've been in my life. Maybe just because it's not as polished or thematically connected like previous ones - people don't like it?

klsddikrt

Still perfect. Still not a fan of Revolution 9.

Erg goed album maar kan nooit helemaal in beatles komen, Helter Skelter is wel een enorm goede song

Listened to this a fair bit several decades ago... Many great pieces but I'm not sure that it holds up so well as other selections from the band's catalog. Some serious self indulgence and filler in the mix.

Not convinced

Classic. WMGGW is my fav.

If you want to talk to me about this album, shoot me a text. There’s too much to say here. This album is near perfect. Favorite song: all of them Least favorite song: probably Revolution 9, but even then I still dig it

Listened to it soooo much funny this was the first one because it’s probably the first album I ever listened to. Love it to bits!!

Excellent

the greatest!

Like I even have to rate this.

Fantastic album with some of my favorite songs (Glass Onion, While my Guitar Gently Weeps, Helter Skelter), but there's also some filler. Did we really need piggies?

Way too long. 5 or so great songs, a few lesser heard good songs, and some awful songs.

Fantastic album from front to back. Great songs, great flow to it. Feels like an album. 2 discs and I never got bored.

Easily better than the other Beatles we had

this album has many of the great songs from the Beatles. It is fit together in a continuous way. Really a great album to own.

Lots of good songs, but lots of ok songs

This was my self-appointed "favorite Beatles album" when I was a kid (despite not hearing all of the Beatles albums). I'm not sure it holds up to it's reputation. Some great songs on here-- Blackbird, Ob-La-Di-Ob-La-Da, Helter Skelter-- but there's also a lot of just plain weirdness, and very ego-centric "we can do no wrong" energy, with a lot of songs seeming like they could probably use a little more studio precision. This was the beginning of the end for this band, so the schizophrenic nature of the record makes sense. Still a solid outing, the Beatles are one of the greatest of all time for a reason.

One of my favorite albums from them. Really good. At this point they were getting closer to a real good prog sound.

not that great 2.5

The greatest

Even though the album was too long and had too many fillers, it was still an interesting and enjoyable album

En meget blandet omgang. Flere vildt gode sange men også meget lettere fjollet

d1 - 5 d2 - 3.5

very good album

nåt av det bästa jag vet

A masterpiece.

Every Beetle album past Rubber Soul gets 5 stars, because, duh. They pretty much influenced all popular music for the next 30 years. The White Album is special because it showcases the Beatles both collectively and individually. Not a bad track on this double LP, even Revolution #9 is good in it's own way.

Some good ones.

I like it

Not my favorite Beatles album

I feel like this is an album I "get" more than I truly enjoy. Made me wanna put on eyeliner and wear all black clothing. A song like "Hong Kong Garden" has NOT aged well, even if it means well. The Beatles cover is so on-brand for what I expected this to be: dramatic, over-the-top, artsy. Favorite tracks: "Jigsaw Feeling", "Carcass", "Suburban Relapse".

This was excellent to re-visit, as I was an avid fan of the Beatles in middle through high school. Having heard everything at least 5 times already, it was lovely noticing all the little details (usually instrumental licks or riffs here and there) I've missed before.

Yeah this was pretty class. Potentially their most versatile album? Like there are so many different sounds thrown in here and they all sound pretty great.

I mean its probably the greatest album of all time

I don’t have a lot but I can try to find it and send a message and I don’t think 🤔 it’s not too bad for you if I could do a few of those in my inbox 📥 if ✌️✌️🧒✌️✌️1️⃣✌️1️⃣👏💕💕💗💕🧟‍♂️😻😻😻☺️☺️🥌🤿🤿🥌🎿🎿🏋🏻‍♀️⛷️🏋🏻‍♀️🛼🛼🎿🥊🎿🥊🛼🥊🛼🎿🥊🛼if

Its a bit all over the place with mixed genres, but still somehow, much like Sandinista by The Clash, the end result come together(!) as a great album. Had no idea Eric Claption played guitar on Whil My Guitar Gently Weeps!
