A bizarre choice as one of the 1001 albums you must hear. Totally forgettable.

One of my all time favourites. Defined a generation.
If you view this as a bit of fun and not to be taken too seriously, it certainly passes.
Outstanding, still sounds as cool as you can imagine it did in 1972. Proper forward thinking lyrically as well.
Not for me

Had tried to get into Dexys before with no success but I really enjoyed this. Tell Me When My Light Turns Green my favourite track.
Not for me
Decent, plenty of catchy tunes. Not usually my cup of tea but went down well as background noise.
I’ve never been one for the grunge thing so I think I’ll need to come back to this a few more times
A bit of a nothing album for me, expected a bit more.
Giving it a 2 since Charles Mingus set the baseline for a 1 star review, but not for me. Just not very interesting.
Not as good as I remembered. Quite plodding and not very memerable
Not the worst. I think the DVD would be more interesting as a spectacle, and I quite enjoyed the songs I knew better from the original (Master of Puppets, One etc)
An enjoyable trip down memory lane. Golden Age and Family Tree are great tunes. Provoked me to go and dig into their back catalogue more, which is all you can ask.
Not necessarily my thing but can see the appeal. Strong start with a few classics.
Its not perfect, but it tells the story of the Beatles better than any other album. As discussed, you can make an easy 5 star album out of it, but for the presence of a few fillers (and the fact Revolver is better), it gets 4.
Did not like
Really enjoyed this, will be spending my weekend listening to more!
Enjoyed this
Wont Get Fooled Again is a stone cold classic, and theres a few great songs on this. Overall I find The Who a bit ‘rock by numbers’ though.
Not bad, just all a bit much of a muchness with few real stand out tracks.
Found this a bit of a slog, a bit too ‘arty’ and try hard.
It didn't offend me, and as background lounge music it worked ok. Very forgettable though, couldn't tell you the name of a song after.
3 stars alone for the opening two tracks. There’s some genius stuff here but its just a bit weird for me to score any higher.
No
Really enjoyed this, 80’s cheese but in a good way. Proper euphoric pop and a great opening track.
Found it a bit dated and meh. Would maybe go back for another listen though
Could barely make it beyond the first track. Terrible.
Could barely make it beyond the first track. Terrible.
A few good tracks, although I have taken off a star after learning they are covers! Not sure it was the best introduction to the Fall, if such thing exists.
Not bad. Few tracks I’d go back to which is more than can be said about others on the list. I don’t think it’s aged particularly well. Feels very ‘early 90s’.
Takes a while to get going (America aside) but there’s enough hits here to make it worthwhile.
Not my thing but I appreciate the effort.
Not my thing but I appreciate the effort.
All My Friends elevates this to modern classic on its own but on a whole its a belter of an album.
A lot better than I had expected!
Quite enjoyed this. A few hints at the band the would become with the singalong choruses. More of a step away from Nirvana than I was expecting. Easy Target a great song.
A good album from an underrated band. A few jangle-pop hits as well as some more interesting stuff.
Outstanding, still sounds as cool as you can imagine it did in 1972. Proper forward thinking lyrically as well.

Surprisingly not the worst we’ve had
Very much not for me
Not for me
Some absolute bangers on this, although not quite their best
One of my all time favourites. Defined a generation.
Extra star for Olivers Army, but all a bit meh
Loved it
Lovely stuff for a summers day. True pioneers. Cant believe this was made in 76!
Genuine mixed feelings on this. The first half is a 2 star, great songs ruined by a nasally whine. The second half is glorious though.
Rubbish
Just couldn’t get going for me
A few pop gems, perfect for a Monday
Controversially, my second favourite Pulp album!
Agree with comments that this can seem a bit disjointed in places but for me thats its charm. The first 4 songs are all great but could be from 4 different bands, not something you always say about TBB. Long Promised Road an absolute classic.
Liked the well known Bowie side A, less keen on the Eno side B.
Going to be a bit more generous here as it wasn’t as bad as I thought it would be. Found some of the lesser known songs (Green Eyes, Amsterdam) decent enough. Very much their creative peak.
Loved it. But if a shame VMs personality and later work dominates so much now. What a voice and songwriter. The title track is an obvious classic, as is Into the Mystic, but there’s not a bad song on this.
Didn’t mind the first half of this - it’s as bit twee and self-important but a few decent enough folky numbers. The 2nd half is pretty forgettable.
Appreciate the artistic merit of this but its just not really for me.
Its a very enjoyable album and one of the best from that ‘new indie’ era. The singles stand out a mile (Take Me Out, Matinee, Michael) and marking it down one star because of the knowledge they went on to far better.
I like a bit of soul but this is a bit TOO much soul for me
Enjoyed this more than I anticipated. The singles are obviously ubiquitous, but some of the nods to earlier Verve work (Neon Wilderness, Catching The Butterfly and Rolling People) were a nice surprise. Sonnet is a classic of the time, and Drugs Dont Work teeters on the brink of Coldplay but RA’s vocal saves it. Not really a bad song on the album.
Annoying
I like a lot of Otis stuff, so him singing the classics is always enjoyable
Enjoy this era of The Who far more than the hard rock stuff. Some really enjoyable 60s pop on this
Didn’t mind it too much, it’s short and punchy. Doesn’t leave much of an impression though and feels a bit superficial. Find it strange people hang on to stuff like this and The Clash, apart from looking quite cool there isn’t much substance.
I like MG but in the main this was self pitying, tuneless rubbish
Still wouldn't say I am a BB convert, my natural aversion to hip hop prevents me, but I enjoyed this FAR more than I thought I was going to. Can see how it has been so influential.
Really not for me
Up there with the best Stones offering. Two iconic tracks (the opener a contender for their finest moment?) and lots of great bluesy stuff.
Not for me, not really sure what genre this fits into as it all feels a bit unstructured.
Boring, not for me
Found it a bit forgettable. Sex Pistols-lite stuff without many hooks
Near faultless (particularly the 2nd side). Morrissey at both his black humour best on the title track and ‘Big Mouth’ and most poignant (I Know It’s Over). It’s a cliche but ‘There is a Light’ remains one of the greatest 3 minutes ever committed to tape.
It's ok easy-listening stuff but I find the celebration of the rat pack a bit strange. Simply songs (that they didn't write) and fairly bland vocals. Suppose it reflects the sparsity of music at the time!
Just do not get Dylan at all!
A bizarre choice as one of the 1001 albums you must hear. Totally forgettable.
I wouldn't say its necessarily music I would listen to again and again, or go back to, but this is why the 1001 list is a good idea. Can tell its obvious importance and influence.
Good opening track, decent end track, all a bit samey in the middle
White Winter Hymnal is a nice song but this is a bit whimsical and lacking in edge for me
Decent but far from their best
Beneath all the chatter and hype about this, it's actually a really good, strong rock album. Great guitars, almost prescient lyrically and the most iconic vocal you will hear for many years
Not really my thing at all
3 stars for Sunny Afternoon alone, but it's a bit meh in places.
Always find this kind of country music hard to dislike! Can tell this must have been pretty influential at the time.
Enjoyed this, proper sleazy, avant garde rock
Awful
Its....ok. I actually think DG has better songs elsewhere but this is obviously the radio friendly megahit album. In this particular genre, its not a bad album. In an overall context, there's no justification for it being here. This Years Love is a decent tune, but I actually find the two super-singles quite irritating.
Surprised to enjoy this so much! Can see the influence on Pixies/Stone Roses in some of the jangle pop numbers. I Got The Hots / Insanely Jealous the stand outs
It’s an undisputed classic and the best of Pink Floyds work for me. For a prog rock concept album, it still manages to balance out with some great songs. Brain Damage and Eclipse is a great ending, Us and Them, Time and Money are iconic and even the instrumentals carry weight.
Wee bit disappointed in this. Lorde is a bit more interesting than the average popstar and Green Light is a banger but it doesn't really go anywhere after that.
Didn't like this at the time when it won the Mercury (I was team Bloc Party!) but on reflection, it's aged a lot better than the indie landfill of that era. This type of arty, baroque pop isn't really my thing but it was decent enough.
A bit of a slog for me - no doubting the mans talents but not for me
I can see why this could be quite a divisive album as it definitely does have the potential to grate with the mockney stuff - but the strength of the genuinely good tunes pulls it along. Tracy Jacks, EoaC and Badhead are great and should have been the lead singles!
Awful
Awful
Really enjoyed this. Quite odd that the most iconic song comes in last, but discovered a few other belters in there
There’s not much between this and Moondance in the classic stakes. While a slightly preferred the latter, this is a complete one off.
Middle of the road dad rock but its not the worst
We all have the generation al album of our teen years and this is mine!
Rubbish
The best!
AWFUL
Very much carried by the opening track but not a bad album
Absolutely awful. Easily the worst music I have ever heard
Found it all a bit samey
I liked Jersey Girl but the vocal delivery does nothing for me.
Not bad, but sounds like a jam session by some (albeit, talented) guys in a pub. Few obvious stand outs from clearly a great singles band.
Really enjoyed this new find. A Good Idea, Helpless, Hoover Dam and Fortune Teller me favorites.
Sex Beat is a banger but the rest is meh
My favorite Stevie album!
3 stars for Solsbury Hill alone
There is a 5 star album in here somewhere but a bit too much filler. Kudos for the ambition though!
