“Cause music is bigger than words and wider than pictures.” This was my submission, so it’s probably a bit obvious that I’m giving it five stars. If you can please listen to this album as it’s meant to be heard: loud as fuck. Here is my reasoning behind why I submitted this album: I wanted my choice to be a Scottish band, and a band that didn’t have any albums on the original list. I chose Mogwai because I think post-rock is a little underrepresented on the original list. We had Sigur Rós, Tortoise, and Slint, but it feels like Mogwai and Godspeed You! Black Emperor are obvious omissions. Young Team isn’t even my favorite Mogwai album; I would rank Come On Die Young and Happy Songs for Happy People above it. However, I think it’s their most important album, being their debut and their introduction to their quiet-loud dynamics and mesmerizing guitars. Hence, in my opinion it’s deserving of the list. The standout song from this album for me is “Mogwai Fear Satan,” probably their most epic song. Also, “Like Herod” needs a special mention. If you enjoyed this, please check out the rest of their music. Clearly, this is a biased view, but I don’t think they have a bad album.

I always thought breaking up the Beatles was Yoko Ono’s worst achievement. Then I listened to this album.
Wait a minute this wasn’t on the original list? Now I’m surprised it’s taken so long to get added to the users list. Makes me think everyone like me assumed it was on the first list… One of my go to albums for testing out sound systems this is an absolute classic. Up there with Portishead - Dummy as the two trio hop masterpieces.
I am getting to the point where I question why I’m continuing with the user list, then every so often I get a glaring omission from the list I hadn’t thought of, this talk talk album is one of these masterpieces that was ignored from the list and make this user list all the worth while.
I clearly need a bit of Talking to enjoy Head.

I agree with this being on the secondary list there wasn’t enough dub on the main list, I enjoyed this album but did just get a bit repetitive for me to add this to my frequent rotation.
This certainly is a unique album, but just really isn’t to my taste. Remove the vocals and you have a much better album in my opinion
“Cause music is bigger than words and wider than pictures.” This was my submission, so it’s probably a bit obvious that I’m giving it five stars. If you can please listen to this album as it’s meant to be heard: loud as fuck. Never heard of Chromatics before, but really enjoyed this, late night ambiance can see me coming back to this more.
Sorry didn’t enjoy this one.
Even after completing the 1089 album, I never clicked this wasn’t in the book, it should have been absolute masterpiece.
Never heard of Mustafa before but James Blake is right up my street, so really enjoyed this short but sweet album, love his vocals, straight into my frequent rotation, great suggestion.
Really enjoyed some of this album, but it also got a bit tedious for my taste. Glad I listened but wouldn’t rush back.
One of the great UK 00’s indie albums, was very underrated at the time, but now it’s almost overrated in certain circles given the rerelease and The push from the radio X crowd. Still a good album that is already in my frequent rotation. So happy to see this today.
This isn’t a bad album, but for something that comes out in 2009 it sounds too much like it’s 70’s influences to be anything that special in my view. If I’m going to listen to hard rock I’d rather listen to the classics than this.
This isn’t my cup of tea, but I do agree with the sentiment that for all the world music on the list there isn’t enough J-Pop or K-Pop hence agree this is a fair submission.
Enjoyed this good rock opera, like the different vocalist for different characters brings it to life more.
Enjoyed this grunge concept album, only thing stopping me from adding this to my frequent rotation is the vocals get a bit wearing.
Didn’t hate this, but just got A bit long and repetitive
Never heard of this group before but really enjoyed this one, great example of 60s rock.
Enjoyed this, but got a feeling they are one of those bands who you need to see live to truly get.
Really enjoyed this one.
A clear and obvious omission from the book, not a masterpiece but a great album up there with the best of 80’s rock, it just has so many stand out hits on it.
I love Vampire Weekend, can’t believe they were missed off the original list. I would argue they are one of the best indie bands of the 2010’s. Though I would rank their debut over this album, and I consider Vampires in the city to be their masterpiece. But I’m sure everyone has their own option of what is VW’s best album which I think is a sign of a great band.
Yep a hip hop masterpiece that’s clearly missing from the original list.
Enjoyed this, but just a bit long and repetitive for me to add to my frequent rotation.
Sorry even 25 mins of this was too much for me, the winey vocals did my head in.
Sorry just feels like generic 00’s alt rock to me, nothing special. Didn’t hate this, but wouldn’t be recommending it to anyone.
Good psychedelic prog rock album, kinda lost interest half way through though. Good album but can’t see me coming back to it.
This was a massive album in the 90’s with some great hit songs. Not going to pretend this is the greatest album ever (it’s got a lot of filler), but surely it deserves to be on the original list.
I liked this nice a chilled indie album, maybe jsut a bit chilled for me to ever remember it, but time will tell, a 3 for now.
Great indie album, Sufjan Stevens is already on the original list, but agree we could haves squeezed this album In too.
Think we had enough country pop on the initial list.
Just too much synthesisers for my taste.
Never listened to the posies before, I’m a fan of teenage fan club, so this music is right up my street, a great suggested album. Frustrating Spotify only seems To have a 5 track version of the album available, but I enjoyed listening to their greatest hits after that.
Enjoyed this, second dub album on this additional list, and would be happy for this to have been included on the main list.
Enjoyed this, chilled laid back dance album, not sure I’ll come back to it, but that might change over time.
No idea what he’s saying but enjoyed the vibes on this album, good addition to the list.
Great rock album, should 100% be on the original list, would happy replace one of the many Bruce Springsteen albums for it.
Yep there is room for two Earth, Wind and fire albums on the list, can make a good argument why this is actually their best album,
I didn’t love this but can see why it should be on the list .
I’m a big post rock fan, (Mogwai was my pick) so this post rock masterpiece was always getting 5 stars. Really should be on the main list!
I wasn’t aware of Debbie Gibson before today, so not sure why this is any better than the 80’s pop albums already on the list. My UK bias would have Kylie on ahead of this, but 80’s pop isn’t really my thing.
Not that I listened to loads of ambient music but this is up there with the best Iv heard, one to keep in my collection for the correct moment.
Sorry one b52’s album was enough for me.
Sorry but I always hated MCR for some reason, even saw them live once supporting muse and my opinion didn’t change, can see why a lot of folk like them, and probably would hate my Favourite band, but sorry can’t give this more than a 2.
I try to spend my year avoiding Eurovision, so this just isn’t my cup of tea. My wife who loves Eurovision enjoyed it though.
Don’t think Iv intentionally ever listened to John Mayer before, to be honest this isn’t bad, reminds me a bit of van Morrison very easy listening, just not an album I’ll ever rush back to due to my personal taste.
This album is a lot cooler than the cover suggests, really enjoyed it.
Iv watched top boy, so I know Kano as Sully, but Iv never actually listened to his music before, I’m not a massive fan of grime. But I can tolerate this, enjoyed the electro beats more than the lyrics though.
Yeah this is a really good rock album, worth a listen.
Really enjoyed this
Meh
Never heard of Alex Cameron before, but absolutely loved this. Brilliantly quirky lyrics with 80’s happy sound. Probably one of my favourite albums Iv come across on the new list so far.
Good album, but don’t know something was missing for me to add it to my frequent rotation, maybe needs a Couple more listens.
I do like Bruce Springsteen but there is already enough of him on the original list, and I’m not a fan of live albums, so this one is a miss for me.
Top modern Dad rock group, 100% should be on the list. I’m really into war on drugs so this is a biased 5.
Classic disco album Should have been in the original list.
Soild hardcore album, just not sure if rush back to it.
Yeah enjoyed this, not a massive Death Cab for a Cutie fan, so the vocals are not my favourite, but this is enjoyable enough I think it deserves to be on the list.
Interesting Swedish folk album,
One of the best albums, bands from The genre at the time, think this has aged better than the others too. One of my wife’s all time favourites too, so is played frequently in our house still.
Not for me this one jsut seemed to go on and on without going anywhere.
Mexican punk rock, yes please.
The vocals on this one just put me off too much to enjoy or recommend
Not really a fan of the weeknd, but can’t not argue how big this album was in 2020.
Didn’t mind this, lyrics jumped between funny and cringey crass. Was worth a listen but can’t say I’ll rush back to the album.
Another strange but great Zappa album, think we could make room for this one on the orginal list.
Enjoyed this, but just not sure enough to Come back to.
Yeah really enjoyed this, bit of a blast from the past, bur really good alt rock album now added back to my frequent rotation.
My view is korn shouldn’t have more than 1 album on the list, problem being this album is probably better than follow the leader, so I’d probably swap them about.
My wife’s favourite band, so Iv always had a bit of a strange relationship with Biffy Clyro, they are far too overplayed in my house, but probably under appreciated in the real world. I do think Puzzle is the last good album before they went too mainstream with their sound. My favourite album is infinite land, where my wife is still obsessed with blackened sky. This is obviously more accessible than both of these, but still edgy enough to be better than only revolutions. But if you were to ask me what album someone who’s never listened to biffy should start with it would probably be this one.
Absolutely beautiful album, I love Low and this is probably my favourite album of theirs. Easy 5 stars, thanks to whoever added this one.
Im familiar with some of Marcus kings songs and am I fan, so really enjoyed this album, my sort of music.
Great Hip Hop album I agree should be on the list, but personally I don’t think it’s in the same league as madvillainy
Great Jazz album up there with the best jazz albums on the original list.
I’ll accept a Phish album on the list, but not a 2 hour live album. Not sure if this suggestion is some sort of sick joke.
Have not heard of Haley Hendrickx before but I was immediately drawn in by her beautiful voice, such a nice modern album, Added to my frequent rotation
Yes great album better than the Eels album that is on the list,
Just didn’t do anything for me
It’s taken me over a week to properly get into this album, and I think that’s a sign it’s just not for me, sorry I tried.
Didn’t enjoy this as some of the other Mexican rock albums on this additional list, but I still see it having a place on the orginal list.
Good fun live album, would I come back to it, probably not, some of the Jams are just a bit long for my taste.
Really enjoyed this, proper female punk vibes.
One of the great 90’s albums, should really be on the original list.
Easy 5 stars one of my favourite 00’s indie albums and bands. Probably one of my favourite live performances when I seen bloc party back in 2006. I still think they are such an underrated band, probably not helped by the fact they never surpassed this debut album, and the UK indie scene at the time became so bloated with rubbish music.
How is this not in the orginal list but David Grey was! Absolutely beautiful album, easy 5 stars.
Brooding dark post punk, enjoyed this but not sure I fully clicked with it to come back, the vocals though very post punk just a little off putting.
I can see why this is added to the list, but personally it would be my 5th maybe even 6th after the Car now, favourite Arctic Monkeys album. But I do agree it’s an important album for them, and should be on the list for that reason alone. I don’t agree with the hate it gets from Arctic monkeys fans complaining they don’t make music like what ever people say I am any more. The same people probably also moan that all Catfish and the Bottlemens albums sound the same.. but also I don’t think this is a masterpiece that die hard fans of the album make out to be. I admire they took and risk and tried something different. Overall I would give this 3 stars, but the temptation to give it four stars out of five was just too much. Id say that’s unheard of, but I won’t be the first or the last to make this joke…..
Great modern folk album, should definitely be on the list.
Maybe I’m missing something, but this just felt like very average alt rock to me.
I really enjoyed this album when it came out in 2016, not sure if Iv listened to it since, enjoyed coming back to it today, good choice.
Big MC5 kick out the Jams vibes on this album, given that’s my all time favourite live album, that’s a massive positive in my book, not a massive fan of live albums in general but this one ticks all the boxes, immediately added to my frequent rotation.
Pink Floyd’s underrated album, I actually prefer this over the wall, but would stick it behind DSOTM and what you were here. Worth place on the list, but just behind their masterpiece albums,
Never heard of Jai Paul before and wasn’t expecting much from the album cover name or description. But this one really did blow me away. Really enjoyed it and straight into my frequent rotation, it’s only downfall is it’s not a real album, so can’t quite see it as a full masterpiece.
Big elvis Costello vibes on this one, this is more like his better albums so I’d happy replace one of his poorer efforts on the list for this.
Enjoyed this, very underrated British rock band.
A very average 80’s album, I thought they were enough of those on the original list.
Was massive at the time, and a huge influence on modern day music, but not a good influence in my opinion really so find Avicii annoying. Shame what happened mind you.
Really enjoyed this, top 80s post punk, should be on the original list.
Yes, west African jazz, the list could be improved so much with more diversity like this. Beautiful music.
This really is a metal masterpiece that deserves its place on the original list.
When I was 14 Less than Jake were one of My favourite bands, Iv never heard of this group before but the music reminded me of what I liked in my younger days. Good accessible ska punk, enjoyed this would I come back to it, probably not now my tastes have changed.
This album was good fun to begin then started to grate on me.
All just felt a bit chaotic, maybe jsut wasn’t in the mood for this today. I’m sure if I gave this time I might learn to love it.
Enjoyed this, proper good hip hop, would I come back to it, not sure
Was a fan of bad religion when I was 14, I had the album the process of belief, which I played a lot, great punk rock band that should be on the original list.
Probably my favourite National album, delighted to see it on this list, and there is clearly room for two albums from them on the main list.
Never heard of Josh Ritter before, but this is a great example of a singer songwriter album, good choice.
Easy to rate these albums when they are already one of your favourites from the last 10 years, modern day masterpiece.
Enjoyed this.
Based on the album cover I wasn’t expecting this to be as funky, really enjoyed, good to find hidden gems like this on the user list,
Not a fan of live albums, but we needed some Joe cocker on the original list.
One of those bands that should have been on the original list, not a massive fan but can’t say this isn’t good music.
I was a big fan of Blinks 182 and their earlier albums as a teenager, Cheshire cat, dude range and Enema of the state. By the time this album came out my view of them was waining. Therefore I don’t think this album should be on the list, and this version of pop punk really hasn’t aged well, I don’t listen to it apart from Nostalgia feelings, But I can make an argument for blink being on the list, so 3 stars for blink overall.
Love teenage fan club and this album. I think overall do prefer Bandwangesqu but this is a close second.
I agree fontaines D.C. should be on the list, and I appreciate their music, but personally the vocals especially on this album just grates on me, I can’t seem to add them to my frequent rotation.
Classic 90’s pop album everyone’s mum Had, should be included on the list.
Good 90’s female singer song writer album,
Loved this, great example of a modern retro album, great voice. Thanks to whoever submitted this album it’s going straight into my frequent rotation and I’ll be listening to further Valerie June albums,
Good alt rock record.
Good fun pop rock record
I really enjoyed soild air, but found this one a bit dull.
My school mates were massive KSE fans, I wasn’t hugely into them at the time, but did tag along to a few gigs. Good example of metal for the era. I do prefer Jesse over Howard, and my last serenade would be my favourite KSE song. So although not in my frequent rotation I’d have to give this 4 stars.
Meh not my cup of tea.
More a collection of songs rather than an album, but Armstrong is such a huge influence on music how is he
Yes some good old classic hard rock, how is this not on the original list!
Very dramatic indie folk album, I did enjoy it even though it comes across as pretentious posh theatre kids at times. Overall I think this is Good choice for an album selection.
Great example of modern pop that’s actually good.
Classic album from the era, should have been on the original list.
Great example of a modern punk album, no messing about.
Found this one a little dull.
Nope not for me. Feels like it’s proto nu metal which isn’t a good thing
Dull modern folk rock, didn’t really have an impact on me.
Great example of French punk, my only gripe is it’s a bit long, I lost interest by the end.
This is a really great album and tells a good story, but just isn’t my cup of tea. Agree it deserves to make any list, but I’m personally not going to rush back to it.
Really enjoyed this, brilliant brass album should be added to the orginal list.
This album has been so hyped up this year, but this is my first time listening to it, I agree it should be added to the list, but it’s not really my personal taste in music, so doubt I’ll come back to it, but glad I took the time to finally listen to it.
Good old classic punk rock,
Found I loved parts of this album, while Other songs were a bit meh, a real hit and miss one for me. Probably just enough hits for me to give it a 3
I prefer the other tool album to those one, but can always make room for this one on the list too.
Really enjoyed this, never heard of them Before, but great example of modern experimental rock that is also easy listening, added to my rotation.
Interesting album started off enjoying this but then got a bit irritated by it.
Enjoyed this
Interesting album one that deserves its place on the orginal list, just not sure it’s the sort of thing I’ll ever come back to.
Modern day masterpiece.
Never actually intentionally listened to Childish Gambino before, wasn’t was I was expecting completely blown away by this album. Superb 👌🏼
From never listening to Childish Gambino to getting two of his albums in a row. I preferred awaken my love over this one. But this clearly also merits a place On the list.
Found this grovey and cool, but just got a bit repetitive come the end. Worthy of its place on the list, but won’t rush back.
Enjoyed this, but not sure I’ll come back to it.
Really enjoyed this, good folk album. Liked the duets with veron
Big fan of Samphas debut, not sure why Iv not listened to this one before, it’s also very good.
One of those albums so overplayed and owned by everyone at the time, but looking back it hasn’t aged too badly. Deserves its place on this list.
Never heard of this before, but lovely little pop record added to my rotation.
Not my favourite Bon Iver album, but still different enough and interesting enough to be considered for this list.
Enjoyed this good old no thrills classic rock, reminded me a bit of the stones.
Better than I expected, having only heard the singles, decent modern pop album.
Good fun album, should have been on the orginal list.
Heard of this band a few times, but this is my first time listening, proper modern punk band, helped with a great female vocalist. Great addition to the list.
One of the best shoegaze albums Out there. How is this not on the orginal list?
Enjoyed this, reminded of REM which is a good thing, add t my frequent rotation.
Enjoyed this very different mix of rock jazz and hip hop, got a bit strange as it went on, might come back to it, but not totally convinced yet.
Classic new wave album, should have been on the original list, surely room for this over one of the Elvis Costello albums.
Interesting noise rock album, enjoyed this but didn’t love it, might grow more over time .
Good female punk new wave style 80’s album, enjoyed this one too,
One of my favourite bands from 2004 to 2008 seen them live 3 times, know this album off by heart. So good and I don’t come back to it enough these days now my tastes have changed. Thank you to who ever added this! It made my morning.
Really good modern prog metal album, not my cup of tea but can help but respect the complexity of the music on show here.
Used to be a fan of avenged sevenfold when I was a teenager, listening back now the vocals just go right through me. Can see why this isn’t a band from my youth I revisit often. This album is a bit all over the place.
Full on 00’s metal supergroup we really didn’t need. I’d accept a Mudvayne or Pantera album, but we don’t need this.
My second tragically hip album from this list, think I actually prefer this one, very good 90’s alt rock, straight into my frequent rotation.
Great indie album right up my street. Added to my frequent rotation.
Not really my cup of tea, feels a bit all over the place and. Chaotic, but clearly has had an influence o a lot fi the modern pop music today. So based on that probably merits its place on this list.
Enjoyed this, maybe not as much as the classic pink Floyd album, but certainly earns its place on the list.
Very 70’s classic rock, didn’t mind this, but also not one I’ll rush back to, I’m sure it hit differently in the 70’s
Good goth rock record, wouldn’t have minded this on the main list.
Great almost forgotten Scottish indie album, wasn’t sure I was familiar with this band, unless watching Xanadu came on, I clearly never click who actually sang that song.
Meh
Love the stooges, not a fan of live albums, I think I struggle with this one as the sound quality is so low, I’m not sure the raw energy offsets that here. Obvious would be incredible to be there at the time but I don’t get it from this recording. I’d rather just listen to the studio albums. But all that aside, the historical significance of this album and the eruption of punk following it, I can’t not give it at least 3 stars.
Meh didn’t really get this one, found it very boring very quick.
If you asked me what Jazz album is missing from the list I’d say this one. Even more ridiculous that spy vs spy is on the list. Saying that personally it’s not a jazz album I really connect with I find it a bit hard work and complex, I prefer the more accessible bebop jazz. But you can’t argue enough the importance of this album.
Sounds a lot like 70’s Genesis, maybe a bit more accessible with the 80’s production. Wasn’t bad probably worth its place on the list.
Enjoyed this one, never heard them before I don’t think but obviously recognised the covers. I liked their take on the songs. One I’ll hopefully come back to.
Not a massive weezer fan, but can’t argue that this isn’t a huge power pop album and needs to be on the list.
Wasn’t my favourite album at the time, (was dude ranch when I was 14) but looking back this is probably peak blink 182, when they improved there production and still had an edgy pop punk sound. They went downhill from here in my eyes.if I was to include 1 blink album on the List it would have to be this one.
Not a massive new wave fan, but this One was good fun, think you could make room for it on the list.
Yes my go to Daft Punk album, not a fan of live albums but I can make an exception for this one, just works so well!
A lot of live albums on this extra list, this is one of the better ones, really feel the energy in it. Will look into More vulfpack
What a depressing wall of noise, I absolutely loved it!
Love this album, 100% their masterpiece. I like King Gizzard and appreciate how they do things differently, but sometimes do wish they would slow down the album releases and bring out top quality albums like this one. But then maybe that would make them just like all the other bands so they should just keep being them.
Yeah ok I’ll let Chris have one album on the list.
Enjoyed this good indie rock album Language barrier probably stop me coming back to it though.
Enjoyed this maybe better than the Tori Amos album on the official list.
Great example of a death metal album that’s actually good, deserves its place on the list.
Started ok but got a bit weird for me.
Interesting indie album.
This one just didn’t click with me.
Soild indie Rick album, reminds me of the pixies
The fall of house usher was a bit Much, appreciated the rest of the album. I’d say it’s worthy of an inclusion on the list.
Never heard of Hum before and this was a pleasant surprise, right up my street in terms of guitar music. Added to my frequent rotation.
Not sure what to make of this, enjoyed parts, found the vocals a bit irritating. If it came out in 00’s would be a straight 2 stars, but feels this is a bit more impactful being 90’s. So 3 stars interesting enough to merit giving it a chance. Who knows might grow on me.
Good indie album enjoyed this, not sure I’ll return to it though.
Yeah ok I get it, we needed a TOOL album on the official list. But this is the 3rd tool album on the additional list, that’s more than enough TOOL thank you!
Good alternative rock album, vocals maybe just become a bit stale after a while.
Sounds like a mix of computer game music and Evanescence. (Not a compliment)
Soild British indie album, right up my street but never heard of these guys before, think I’ll come back To this one, good choice.
It was short at least.
Meh
Im a big fan of the texas sun and Texas moon albums, this one is also really good.
On the original list I gave home work 5 stars on the basis this wasn’t on the list, so this one obviously needs the full five stars. Their masterpiece.
Worth its place on the list, but do find it a bit tiresome to come back to.
Really enjoyed this, such a diverse metal album spanning different styles and then jumping back to heavy parts. Great choice.
I had this album on repeat when it came out a few years ago. Really good example of the current U.K. indie revival.
Really enjoyed this female indie album, love the album name and cover too, added to my frequent rotation.
I don’t think we need another Bjork album, but this is her best one, so let’s remove All the other ones and just have this one please. I could live with that.
Found this one a bit dull and boring.
Didn’t mind some of this, other parts just seems on the cheesey of Irish folk music, not for me.
I think this whole process has made me realise I’m not a fan of lo-fi music.
One of the best uk indie rock albums at the time, albeit wasn’t much competition during this period. Listening back now it has aged well. Not quite a masterpiece but Worthy of my frequent rotation.
There is definitely a much better representation of new music on this list vs the book, this being a great example of it.
Enjoyed this, no idea what he’s rapping about mind you.
Not for me sorry.
Iv listen to sour before but not this one. I’d had thought the first album had more argument to be included in the list. This isn’t really my type of music, but can appreciate why it could be included in the list. It’s good pop guitar music.
Loved alexis when I was 16, I prefer watch out to their debut though.
Does sound a bit ahead of its time this one.
I was sick of all the country albums on the original list, sorry this one didn’t have a chance.
Absolutely classic punk album should have been on the list and still sounds so good today, can’t believe I’m actually going to rate this higher than the shape of Jazz to come, but think that’s purely down to personal taste, and influence on my current music.
One of the handful of albums that can change my opinion that live albums are not good. This has everything you want from a live album and still sounds so good, masterpiece.
Can’t believe this wasn’t on the original list. Absolute masterpiece of an album.
Meh
Assume this is some sort of sick joke?
I don’t think the music lives up to the Album cover.
Clearly added by a jimmy eat world fan. Not a bad album but don’t think it’s in the same league as Bleed America. Hence I don’t think there is a place for this on the list. But I enjoyed it enough to give it a 3.
A few albums keep popping up on this user list that I assumed this was on the original list. This is probably the best nu metal album (not got much competition mind you) but 100% should be on the list. 14 year old me absolutely loved it.
Maybe a sign I’m turning into a grumpy old man, but I really don’t get why the 1975 are so popular, even more so this week when they are headlining Glastonbury. This album hasn’t help change my mind on them either, all I hear is a whiny pop band with guitars.
Great examples of 90s ska punk.
The Diddy Bop probably has a very different meaning in 2025…
Really wasn’t into the cure until recently, took me to get Disintegrated on the orginal list to full my appreciate them, their other albums didn’t click with me before that. But when this came out last year I was blown away, the soundscapes are beautiful. One of my favourite albums over the last year, maybe jumping the gun giving this a 5, but does feel like one of these best comeback albums in a long time.
I am getting to the point where I question why I’m continuing with the user list, then every so often I get a glaring omission from the list I hadn’t thought of, this talk talk album is one of these masterpieces that was ignored from the list and make this user list all the worth while.
Fuck sake heard enough of these guys this weekend.
Soild 90s alt rock,
Got the shock of my life putting this on, thought I was listening to the Tyler creator album Igor, and was hit with a wall of screaming. This is good and very different to the list. Great suggestion.
My second favourite Bon Iver album, after for Emma, it gets a bit too pretentious after this.
For years Iv thought DC fountains were a band I should really like but just couldn’t get into them. Think it was the vocals grated on me too much. This is the album that finally clicked with me though. I think it is more accessible than their previous work.
Just sounds like angry computer game music to me.
From the album cover I was expecting this to be some teen pop punk music from an American pie film. It was better than that.
Sorry not for me.
Surely we have ran out of TOOL albums to add to this list now?
Soild 70’s blues rock record.
Great punk rock record, never heard before but teenage me would have loved this.
Great 90’s Alt rock record, one I’ll come back to.
Good album just not my cup of tea.
Good 80’s alt rock album.
Cool chilled out vibes enjoyed this one.
Pretty forgettable R&B album.
Na sorry this one just gave me a sore head.
Yes this is right up my street, gothic and moody, but also danceable. Reminds me a bit of the editors and white lies.
I’m 50/50 if this is needed on the orginal list given all the other REM albums on their it’s a hard choice on which one to switch out for this one, but on its own merit it’s still a good album, so if it’s your personal favourite REM then fair play.
Good album, but I prefer the ones of the list, still worthy of inclusion in its own right though.
I seen these guys back in 2005 at a tiny gig at the viewfield hotel in Arbroath, was one of my favourite gigs at that venue, it absolutely kicked off. Loved their demos and didn’t mind this album but kinda lost interest in the band and the music shortly after. I don’t think this album holds up well today, But thank you to who ever added this for a nice personal trip up memory lane. 4 stars for the 2005 gig.
Another great punk record from 1977.
Nice songs but just drifted into background music.
Enjoyed this album, but just a bit of the long side I thought became a bit of a drag and seemed disjointed in parts. Glad I listened though.
Got to agree this is Beyoncé’s best album. Not sure it’s a full 5 start masterpiece due to my personal music tastes, but it’s close.
I couldn’t avoid this album during my 2nd year of uni, constantly played in every club/pub/party we went to. So was big but not really music I care for now.
Great 90’s alt rock record which is clearly missing from the original list. Up there with the pixies best albums, but just not quite a masterpiece in my eyes.
Good 70’s album, worth a listen, but not sure I’d rate it higher than the other classics from the era.
Enjoyed this, but no idea what they are singing about. Nice addition to the list.
Interesting jazz fusion album, gives off good fund vibes, enjoyable listen, but not sure I’ll return to it.
Yes, arguably the greatest post rock album of all time I prefer this to their debut. I think this is a great add to the list, but I would as Mogwai Young team was my choice, so this is right up my street.
Another album on the users list id file under, ‘is this a windup?’ The hits have become classic cheesey pop songs, rest of the album is inferior copies of the hits. Was a bit of a drag to be honest.
Techno metal, before this morning I didn’t realise such an album existed. After listening to it, I’m not sure it should exist. Couple of interesting parts but the lyrics are very silly, and not much depth to the songs.
Soild hip hop album, great flow.
It’s not the worst pop album Iv heard, but a strange choice all the same.
Yes a great modern pop album, room for this one on the list.
Really enjoyed album, such a good vibe and flow to it. Added to my frequent rotation.
I have never actually seen blade runner, the original or the remake… Allowing for that fact makes the fact this soundtrack even impressive to me. Movie scores are underrepresented on the list, so clearly room to add this one.
Frightened Rabbit were already on my shortlist to include, so I was delighted to see this album on the users list this morning. Personally, I prefer Pedestrian Verse given its more polished sound, but The Midnight Organ Fight undoubtedly hits harder and arguable their more important album. It’s a tough listen these days, but such an important one. Given what happened to Scott, I honestly can’t think of a band with a more poignant and heartbreaking song than Floating in the Forth. It hits even harder for me, having friends and family who’ve sadly gone down the same tragic path. That’s why this gets the full 5 stars from me — not just for the music, but for what it represents. And if anyone reading this is going through something similar to what Scott faced, please: reach out to your friends, your family — anyone. You are loved more than you can possibly imagine.
Great choice of an addition, is it as good as love supreme no, but very accessible jazz music so we can make room for it on the and my frequent rotation.
Enjoyed this more than I was expecting too. Good album worthy of a place on the list.
Really enjoyed the violin but by the end of the album his vocals just grated on me. Somewhere between a 2 and a 3. It’s different enough for me to give it a 3.
Soild rap album
Interesting album, worth a listen at least once,
Given this was only on YouTube, I found it hard to listen and then adverts popping up in between songs, sometimes the adverts were not as annoying my as the samples themselves..
Never heard of this band before, but this sort of blues rock is right up my street. Straight into my frequent rotation.
Enjoyed this post metal album, good music, not sure if I’ll come back to it though.
This ain’t a bad album, on its own hard to argue against, but I would rank Tommy over this. So hard to make an argument for another who album on the list, that being said I prefer this to the who sells out. So I would replace that album with this.
This is actually my most listened to album this year since it game out, I think it’s brilliant album, but it’s maybe just too early to tell if it’s worth the full 5 stars, can easily give it 4 though.
Classic emo album from the 00’s had this as a teenager, good to listen back but nostalgic reasons only, don’t think it’s held up well over time.
Enjoyed this. Clearly influenced by Radiohead which is obviously a good thing, impressive to get Bowie and reed on the album, added to my frequent rotation,
Maybe didn’t give this enough time, but just comes across as cheesy soft rock, not for me.
Not a bad album stand alone, crazy train is a great song, but I wouldn’t replace any of the black sabbath albums for this, or listen to this over them. So I can’t find room for it on the list.
No idea what they are singing about, but I got the vibe of a good fun Spanish punk music. Enjoyed this.
This album isn’t as bad as you think it’s going to be. But that’s still a low bar.
This is a good album, stand alone I’d have it on the list, but it really isn’t in the same league as ten, so when I’m in the mood for pearl jam, that’s the album I’ll be going for.
Interesting but also average at times indie pop album. Can’t decided if I should give it one more listen or not before I give my final rating….
I gave this a full week before listening again as I had a headache and wasn’t in the right frame of mind last week, coming back to this fresh I can feel my headache coming back.
Meh just couldn’t get past the vocals on this one.
Sorry personal view but Iv never liked fall out boy and never will. Something about them and their music just grates on me. If this what saves rock n roll deary me.
Frustrating that KG removed all their music from Spotify. Though don’t disagree with their actions just means I won’t bother listening it today and rate it on previous listened. This is a good album within their discography, not one of my personal favourites, but with a band with so many records it’s hard to pick a top 5. I sometimes do wonder if they would be better if they had a bit more focus on quality over quantity, but then their volume of output is what makes them stand out from the crowd. Overall though there is definitely room for a few KG albums on this list.
Good and different, could make room for this on the list. Just no idea what she’s singing about, but not sure you need to, to appreciate the music.
Really good Argentina rock music, could make room for this on the orginal list.
Barenaked ladies are a group Iv heard of but never really properly listened too. This is Good fun soft rock album, added to my frequent rotation.
I always thought breaking up the Beatles was Yoko Ono’s worst achievement. Then I listened to this album.
Another tragically hip album, can’t really complain i like these guys. I’d find a way to squeeze it on the list.
Really good hard rock album, just a bit on the long side for me to add to my frequent rotation.
Yes this metal core album slaps. A lot of similarities to RATM which is a good thing. So much anger funnels into this but the music is still so tight. Metalcore really isn’t my scene anymore and hasn’t been for about 20 years but I think I might have to keep this in my rotation for days I was the release some stress. A lot of
I clearly need a bit of Talking to enjoy Head.
I have never actually seen the rocky horror show, but still enjoyed listening to this, and I think the list could have a few more musical soundtracks on it.
Never listens to metric before, but enjoyed this, the sort of indie rock I listen to, so will be getting added to my frequent rotation.
This is a clever, funny and silly covers album. Do I think it should be on the orginal list? Nope. Did I enjoy listening to it today? Yes I did.
Familiar with some of the songs on the album, good modern indie music, just suffers from being too long an album.
Not a bad album, just not my thing.
I’m Just not a fan of paramore,
It’s taken me a couple of weeks to get my head around this album. On my first listen, the album didn’t immediately grab me, until the final track hit. Something about it just clicked, and suddenly I felt compelled to go back and hear the whole thing again. On that second listen, it opened up for me in a big way. The mix of raw emotion and layered storytelling reminded me of a cross between Brand New and Black Country, New Road. Now a few weeks on it’s firmly in my regular rotation, a great album that rewards patience and revisiting.
Sorry but one Dolly Parton was enough for me.
Think this just sounds like dated over the top metal to me.
Decent modern hip/hop rap album.
Really good indie album, one I’ll come back to.
Sorry this just isn’t my cup of tea.
Soild 90’s indie rock, happy to see it on the list
Another vampire weekend album, I love the band and this is a good album,I listened to it a lot last year but into as much this year, but I’m still picking vampires in the city or their debut over this one. So just the 3 stars from me for this specific album.
Great example modern synth pop album.
First time listening to church really enjoyed this. Solid choice, and added to my frequent rotation.
Stand alone this is a good album, but it just feels a bit flat vs their later entries and no way near the same league as violator. Stand alone id include it in the list, but I’d argued the best of Depeche mode is already well represented.
Sorry heard enough country in the original list.
This was ok, but didn’t stand out as anything special. Maybe the langue barrier didn’t help.
Love this album, first came across it after watching the sugar man documentary, masterpiece of a singer songwriter album, and very under rated within the uk anyway.
Just a bit angry for my Monday morning commute
What is these guys obsession with Monkeys all about.
Just dragged a bit for me. Good in points a mess in others
Really enjoyed this, one of the best electronic albums I’ve heard in a while, very atmospheric and layered. One I’ll keep coming back to.
Very interesting hip hop album, would have this over a lot of the other hip hop on the list. Just runs a bit over my listening attention span to get 4 stars.
Really enjoyed this mix of disco and electronic feels ahead of its time, added to my frequent rotation
This is a good live album, and stand alone worthy of the list, but I wouldn’t switch out any of their studio albums for it.
Right up my street this one, great 60’s blues/psychedelic rock added to my frequent rotation
Great album, mix of modern but also 80’s influences. Great addition to the users list.
I found this album interesting but also forgettable at the same time, which sounds odd, but feels like an album you really have to pay attention with or it just drifts into the background. Either way I think it’s worthy of the list, just not sure if I’ll ever remember it to come back to.
Wow actually never clicked this wasn’t on the original list. Modern pop masterpiece. With Dancing on my own up there with the greatest songs of the 21st century.
Soild heavy rock album
Really enjoyed this, my idea of modern rock, added to my frequent rotation.
Average rock album, probably not helped I couldn’t connect with the lyrics.
Odd generic metal album, didn’t do much for me sorry.
Room for another Tom Petty album? I would make space for this one, great album.
The sort of rock music that just does nothing for me.
Good ambient EP
Average 90’s rock, only a few songs on the album available on Spotify, based on these songs I have zero interest in trying to find the rest of the album.
Had a few bad albums in a row on the user list, so this was a nice surprise. Was familiar with the werewolves song, but the rest of the album is also great, good pick.
When it came out I was a massive fan of Deja Entendu, and I had a soft spot for Your favourite weapon but I’d say this one hasn’t aged well. Not sure I ever listened to this album before, come 2006 my music taste had moved away from pop/punk/emo music. Listening to this I’m blown away with how good it is, kicking myself for listening to this earlier I feel obliged to give it five stars now..
Wow this album is superb. First time listening and an instant classic, loved the Jazz and flow and a nice surprise Loyle Carner popping up on water baby.
Very odd and a bit all over the place, but that added to the allure. Worth its place on the list.
Yes loved this, wasn’t sure I would hearing the description, but the guitar layers and wall of sound is right up my street. Vocals not exactly my cup of tea, the only thing stopping me giving this a 5.
I agree there is room on the list for glass animals. I just wouldn’t rave about it myself
Yes this is a brilliant album, loved it when it came out. Modern day masterpiece
Makes me wonder if I’m trying harder with this album because it’s posthumous. It’s not a bad hip hop album, but really doesn’t draw me in.
I was sure I had heard of this band before, then the theme tune to sopranos came and it all made sense.
Blue grass just isn’t my cup of tea, therefore zero interest in a 2024 bluegrass album, that doesn’t nothing new for the genre.
I really don’t like country, but for some reason this didn’t seem so bad and found myself bobing along to songs.
I remember the hype this got when it came Out on Netflix. I couldn’t manage to watch the whole show, musical comedy just isn’t my thing. Listening back I got a few laughs to this, and white girls instagram is very funny. But it gets tiresome quick, so don’t think I’d have it on my list.
Classic metal, can make more room for this on the list.
Interesting and strange at times, overall good choice
I’m not sure why but this is the first album In the awhile where I’ve poured myself a whisky and sat in front of my proper hifi system to listen to on a Saturday night and wow I was blown away. The sound quality the building of tension absolutely brilliant completely sucked me in. My only complaint is 2 hours is far too long for an album.
90’s inspired stones music yes please.
Not for me.
I’ll admit it, Gerry Cinnamon is a bit of a guilty pleasure. His biggest hits ‘Belter’ and ‘Canter’ do my head in, but there are enough gems here, too catchy to ignore, that the album keeps sneaking into my rotation. Most likely due to my Scottish bias. This isn’t a masterpiece but a personal favourite.
I’m not a massive weezer, I accept the blue album is a huge omission from the list, after listening to this I agree there is space for 2 weezer albums. Clearly had a big impact on the emo music that was to be all the rage in the 00’s
Has someone actually completed the challenge twice so they could add two baby metal albums?
Good punk album worthy of the list.
Yeah enjoyed this,
Wow really interesting jazz album, very atmospheric really enjoyed this one I’ll hopefully come back to.
Love a bit of jazz and a good bass line. This guy seems the master of both.
Great album just a shame I had to listen through youtube
Classic rock n roll from the master. 100% should have been on the original list.
Bof
Was a big fan of this album when it came out, my enthusiasm has waned a little more recently, probably given how much they were overplayed on the radio. But still a good example of modern indie music worthy of the list.
Yeah this is good modern hardcore music, not to my taste these days but deserves to be on the list and teenage me would love this.
This is a crazy album, not one I will find myself rushing back to, but feel it has a place on the list somewhere.
Feel like just dragged a bit
Always found idles just a bit angry fro me, but did enjoy listening to this, good example of modern punk music.
Very good 80’s electrico the oh yeah song instantly recognisable, good choice.
Yes I like this! Some post rock Iv never come across before.
Good fun blues album, while it appreciates the legends of the genre not sure I would come back to this over any of the orginal artists output.
Odd
Bringing out 2004 garbage in 2022, not for me. Almost feels like a bad parody album. One positive it was short
Solid metal/heavy rock album
Fuck sake I hate Ryan Adams
14 year old me had a Pump up the Valium poster on my wall, much to my mums disgust. I’d have punk in drublic on the list, but not sure this counts as an album but it is a really outstanding 18 mins punk song, but I’ll give it a 4 because NOFX should be on the list.
Too long
Listened to these guys a lot back in the day, think I discovered them through the Michael Jackson cover. Really beautiful album and enjoyed revisiting it this morning
Great Xmas album, if we need two Xmas albums on the list I agree with this one.
Yeah room for a bit of no doubt on this list, feel the album is carried by the singles but good none the less.
Good indie rock album, I’d have it on my list but not one of my overall favourites.
Great voice and some beautiful songs, but found some of the slower songs very boring.
Arguably one of Paul’s best works post Beatles, desires to be on the List.
Good album but Wilco have better
Very accessible prog rock, really enjoyed this.
Yes this is a better album than the QoS one of the list. Could argue their best album, though I tend to personally prefer like clockwork. This is still a five star album in my book.
I’m a fan of daft punk, but never seen this film so the soundtrack didn’t do much for me.
Feel this sort of early laidback hip hop just didn’t click with me.
I do love early muse, and one of those bands you need to see live. I actually prefer this album over black holes even though I do like both. So might have to give this full marks.
Wow this is really powerful and emotional listening back now. I’m a fan of low but didn’t give this album much time when it came out and following the tragic passing of Mimi I relived their earlier albums (things we lost and live in hope) rather than coming back to thiier last album. Coming back to this now it clicks , a real final masterpiece from the band, bruised and distorted but still unmistakably tender Thank you to whoever picked this album, it really made my day.
Wow, how did this album pass me by? In my defence it’s only two months old, but this is incredible. An instant masterpiece that blows the theory out of the water that we should only recommend albums over X years old. As a big fan of new music, I’m in favour of this group continuing to champion very recent albums.
Good fun metal
Couldn’t get into this one.
Iv commented on the other two vampire weekend album reviews saying this was their best album, so I best give this one five stars.
A Night at the Opera is my favourite Queen album, so it makes sense that A Day at the Races ranks above Queen II for me. If there’s room for one more Queen album on the list, this is it.
Can see why this would have been popular early 90s and teenage me would have lapped this up, but just feels dated now.
By the end of the album I really enjoyed this, top 90s alt rock.
Yeah great record and band often overlooked.
Solid pop album, but I prefer earlier Beyoncé records to this one
Honestly never really looked into Roy Harper before, but had come across his name like many due to the Led Zep. This really deserves to be on the list, great album from clearly a hugely influential and underrated artists.
Great choice
Classic 90’s pop rock deserves to be on the orginal list.
I’m a massive fan of prioritised pleasure (which id give 5 stars), this the follow up just felt like a disappointment to me. Usually happens when you enjoy the first album you hear by an artist so much. I’d maybe have a different view if this came first.
Yes, brilliant choice. I was completely obsessed with this album when it came out. Isaac leaving the band just before its release only further cemented as an instant cult classic, and it’s easily one of my favourite post-2020 records. That said, it does cast a long shadow. I love this album so much that post-Isaac BCNR just doesn’t really land for me, it feels like something essential is missing.
One of my favourite bands as a 14 year old, seen them live 3 times, so this was a great nostalgia listen. When I was 14 this was my favourite less than Jake album, but the only one I tend to rerun to these days is borders and boundaries. A total nostalgia album for me, but totally understand those that were not my age when this came out would rate it lower.
The second Porcupine Tree album Iv come across on this user list, and a clear step up in quality from the more accessible Stupid Dream. Darker, heavier, and much more in line with my taste. One I can see myself coming back to rather than just appreciating for a single day.
I’ve never really given Tyler much of a chance before. This is clearly a strong modern hip-hop album, with jazz woven through the production, that deserves its place on the list, but for me ,(likely down to personal taste), it doesn’t quite tick the boxes. I tend to prefer the more aggressive, politically charged edge of something like To Pimp a Butterfly in this space, rather than the laid-back, introspective feel that dominates here. It’s a well-made album that I’m glad I heard, but not one I feel much pull to return to.
I gave hello rock view 4 stars a couple of days ago for nostalgic reason. This album obviously in a very similar mould to that, but wasn’t one I listened to constantly as a teenager, so gets 1 star less for that reason.
I’m currently obsessed with Wolf Alice. Honestly believe they are one of the best bands out there at this moment. Anyone of there 4 albums would make this list for me, Iv had the clearly on repeat since it came out. So can’t not give this a very bias 5 stars.
Couldn’t get past the annoying vocals.
Meh
Right up my street. Straight into my frequent rotation and now planning a deep dive into Clutch’s discography.
Some name for a band, as you would expect from the name an equally chaotic album. I did enjoy this though.
Soild Britpop album I hadn’t come across before enjoyed this. But I’d most likely go back to a more familiar manics or suede album over this.
Nice accessible dream pop album,
Such an underrated band and album, great indie post punk record already part of my frequent rotation.
Another album I’m convinced was on the original list, and can’t believe has taken so long to pop up on the user list. One of the best from 00’s indie era. Already in my frequent rotation.
Yes one of my top 5 all time jazz albums. A clear omission for the original list.
Pretty forgettable album.
Actually enjoyed this more than I expected, given I hate country music, modern country maybe more my thing.
Come across very dull alt rock.
I’d come across The Shins before, but never really listened properly. Spending time with this album today has been a real treat. This 00s indie album, 20 years on, still feels fresh and instantly clicked with me. It’s definitely going straight into my regular rotation.
The classic emo album, already within my rotation, deserves to be on the orginal list.
Can’t say I’m familiar with Argentine rock, but this was nice and different a worthy addition to an under represented category in the original list.
Death metal isn’t really my thing but you do have to just take as step back and admire this album. Deserves to be on the list.
Soild chillled out music, ideal cocktail bar music .
Never realised King Crimson had an 80’s era. This is good and reminds me of talking heads, but I do prefer their earlier stuff.
Never heard of tinder sticks before, but really enjoyed this atmospheric, moody and still beautiful. Added to my frequent rotation.
I absolutely love this album one of my most played during lockdown, a great talent and a great example of modern blues.
When I seen an MGMT album from 2024 I wasn’t sure, but was won over by this. Really nice Indy album.
Soild rock album, welcome addition to the orginal list.
This really is a good fun rock album, deserves to be on the list.
I’m not a massive foo fighters fan, I put them in the I don’t mind them category and they are a good band to see live but this is there best album, so I think we can make room for it on the list.
Never heard of these guys before and as soon as the vocals hit I knew I was going to love this. Thank you to the submitter I’m going to play this a lot this year.
Dated Numetal not my cup of tea.
Very impressive sample albums flows very well and some real classics in there.
Enjoyed this very distinctive vocals.
Another Beasite Boys albums? Oh go one then.
I often overlook this album compared to orange. I do prefer orange but this deserves to be on any top album lists.
I remember this album getting a lot of hype a couple of years ago, it never clicked with my at the time, listening back now I agree this is really good. One to be added to a list of great new music, but just not my personal taste for a frequent rotation.
I do like Stereophonics but apart from performance and cocktails I think there albums are a bit average. Feel like a thousand trees carries this album, but still was a pleasant listen and happy to have it on this user list.
Would have loved this as a teenager. But as a man in his late 30’s hearing it for the first time, just doesn’t do it for me.
Loved this when it came out. Great example of good new music and album That did live up to its hype.
Good classic 80’s metal, could make room for this on the list.
Love Lou Reed, on the orginal list I gave 5’s to Berlin and Transformer and two of the VU albums. I’d put this down as my 3rd favourite solo album, a great comeback album. Not sure if it’s quite a masterpiece though. But still one I return to frequently
This feels like a poorer version of different class, and not different enough as this is hardcore. But still a good enough album for the list.
Being a bigger fan of joy division that new order this would be the new order album I’d have on the list. Their best work in my opinion.
I honestly think this album stands alongside Tool at the very top of progressive metal. It’s both brutal and beautiful in equal measure, shifting effortlessly between the two. For that reason, I have to give it 5 stars, it’s a masterpiece of its genre. It won’t be to everyone’s taste, but I’ve always had a soft spot for heavier music, and this absolutely delivers.
When I seen another fall album I wasn’t sure given they are already fairly represented on the original list, but again this album is original and different enough from their others I’ll accept it. I don’t think this is their best work but another good and interesting listen.
Not their best album but still pleasant enough pop rock I’ll take it.
Was familiar with the peaches song but not the rest of the album, I did find this album a good bit of 90’s teenage alt rock fun. A bit corny at times but still good fun.
Really good modern jazz album, I liked this.
Not my cup of tea but appreciate this
Prefer Gorlliaz earlier stuff to this.
Good fun hair metal, don’t take this music too seriously. Great cover of halter skelter
After doing the full 1001+ original list and now 500+ user picks, this is easily the most pretentious and inaccessible album I’ve come across, and I fucking love it. Having Sonos made it pretty easy to set up as intended, but I can totally see why it flopped back in 1997. With the effort put in though, the payoff is unreal. I honestly can’t remember the last time a first listen put such a big smile on my face, the drums on March of the Rotten Vegetables are just ridiculous. I gave The Soft Bulletin and Yoshimi 4 stars, but on sheer uniqueness and ambition (and the fact it probably only fully works now, 30 years later, with multi-room speakers), this has to be a 5. That said, if you just throw it on normally and listen to the 4 albums back to back, you’ll probably think it’s a 1/2 album at best.
Really enjoyed this, loved the early metal influence and how dark this album feels.
A really good reggae album, I’d take this on the orginal list.
Sorry but MCR have always been a band I disliked.
First Indian heavy metal album I’ve listened to. I actually really enjoyed this, not a massive metal head but the short running time meant this didn’t outstay its welcome.
An album I didn’t pay much attention to when it came out, listening back now this is better than I expected, and different enough from last gaga’s early work it probably deserves a place on the list.
Got a feeling I’ll have forgotten everything about this album come next week.
Didn’t do it for me
Good fun jazz fusion album. Great album cover and just a feel good album great choice.
Never seen the show so this album just didn’t land with me.
I didn’t rate crime of the century highly on the original list. I feel I need to compensate for that with this rating. This to me is peak supertramp and an album ahead of its time, but maybe that shows I prefer more accessible music.
One of those albums I liked when I was 14, but doesn’t really land with me now. But still think we could make room for it on the list.
Another show I’ve never seen, but given how big this was I’m a bit more familiar with the songs. I think given the modern take this is one that’s maybe worth y of the list if you are wanting to include musicals, totally understand everyone who votes it lower because it is a musical.
Would have loved this in the 90’s but feel this will be one of those albums iv forgot all about next week.
Yes absolutely love this, it’s finding these sorts album every once in a while what keeps me going with this user list 2 year on.
Fully expecting an Eminem parody album with the cover and artist name, thankfully it was better than that.
I gave downward spiral a 5, this doesn’t quite match up but still worthy of the list and an album that needs listening to.
Another good Depeche Mode album, think there are now 3 on the user list, I would rank this above Soeak and Spell, but still not the same League as violator.
Great 90s rock, more than worthy of this list.
Good fun electro album, enjoyed this.
Yes if I was to add another Depeche Mode album to The list it would be this one.
Nice album but jsut too long for me to ever come back to this one. Felt a slog come the end.
Heard a few the knife remixes before but this is a first listening to a full album of theirs, enjoyed this, worthy of the list,
Good metal with lots of theatrics
Interesting album, can make a place for it on the list,
Yes one of my top 3 all time jazz albums, absolutely love this one.
Another one of those albums I just assumed was in the main 1001 list. I’d still rank it below Discovery and the live album, but probably on a par with Homework. Listening back, there are so many great tracks Giorgio by Moroder, Instant Crush and Lose Yourself to Dance. As a big Strokes fan, Instant Crush is a standout for me, one of those songs that’s only got better over time. I’m still not convinced Get Lucky will ever fully shake off the “song of the summer” joke, but almost feels like a guilty pleasure now. Still, a brilliant addition to the user list.
Not sure I can recommend a 21 minute long angry ska album.
Great post rock record, I’d rank below god speed and Mogawi, but still worthy of this list and one I listen to frequently.
I gave the death in vegas album on the orginal list a 4, I really enjoyed it, this one didn’t really click the same. So I don’t think we need two albums from them.
Another good album by Elliott Smith, don’t think it’s as good as his others on the list, but something special about it being his tragic last.
Classic rock album that really needs to be on the orginal list.
I am a sucker for these spoken word albums, being a big fan of Arab strap. This is right up my street and an album Iv listened to a few times since it came out.
