Very familiar with the two big singles off this, looking forward to hearing the rest. Sympathy bangs, sill. No Expectations a slow burning blues number that wants to explode but never does which actually works, nice piano on this. Dear Doctor, another blues track, very minimal, chugging along very "I'm hung over as shit" type of track. Parachute Woman, more upbeat blues track, I'm sensing a pattern. Jigsaw Puzzle, mid tempo blues, I dig the drumming, starting to sound all the same, a little less blues-y but still on brand, too long can't get through it lyrics kind of dumb! Street fighting Man still bangs! Prodigal Son, um...this is a blues cover I hope and I hope Mick isn't proud of this voice. Stray Cat Blues, gee what's this going to sound like? Play the blues punk! Liking the drums again, less blues than I thought strangely, kind of rips tbh, too long for a single at the time, should be better known, great song! Factory Girl, unexpected like us that a fiddle? Very basic guitar and fiddle? Cool. Salt of the Earth, nope, couldn't finish this

I still do not get this guy, that being said it was an enjoyable record

Speed King, feels familiar, like the organ. Bloodsucker, wasn't paying attention, boring. Child in Time, fake epic, another miss. Yeah songs too long, album is trash.

Stone cold classic

Halfway Home, such a great way to start an album, hits you right in the chest gets your ass moving! Crying, upbeat disco vibes not bad, not one I'd come back to. Dancing choose, like spitting lyrics, like the drive in the music and the hook, the HORNS! Stork & Owl, starts slowly, slow jam? Sounds like videogame music a little, skipped. Golden Age, another disco type vibe, that Bee Gees falsetto, kicks in and is a banger, I think this was a single! Family Tree, slow build, piano is slow then drops? Acapella? Not a fan of this really, to minimal but not in a good way. Red Dress, nice DFA vibes, like the Rapture and shit! Nice upbeat tune with fucked up lyrics! Love Dog, slow build again, touching on electronic music, never remembered that, going to be too long for me. Shout me Out, building again, not catching me like others, kind of like the drums, kicks IN!! THIS JOINT GOES!! DLZ, this is a slow burning banger! Lover's Day, cool track, nice way to end it.

Never heard of this artist or album, first song is epic! Has a Pink Floyd feel but with less of the experimentation, more of the straightforward parts of PF. Second track very Father John Misty type vibe, I like the ending. Song three, slow jam, I should listen to the lyrics more, I'm sure they're saying something. Song four, seriously this is Pink John Misty, with a touch of Lynard Skynyrd? Song five, back to FJM, boom cussing! Kind of reminds me of Gordon Lightfoot vocally a little. Song six, some swinging ragtime business! Song seven, the FJM stuff is distracting. Song eight, it's like a song Bowie would write and throw out, then hear the arrangement and be like, nope, still don't like it! Song nine, title is WILD, odd synth but I kind of like it, feels like a personal song, a bummer subject and yet it's really upbeat, man goes hard on this, unexpected n-word! Song ten, piano is back, FJM is back, maybe more Anthony and The Johnsons, getting into that range, this sounds both new and familiar! Song eleven, sparse piano jam into a nice build, cool little song. Song twelve, same as the others! Overall I can't get past all the things that it sounds like, too distracting, that being said, never heard this album or artist but feels like I have heard every song on this before, except track nine, that's a wild one!

Solid release, not my go to choice if I want to listen to reggae music. It's always nice to hear No Women No Cry in it's original form!

YES!! An album I've been meaning to listen to! First up, Planet Claire, this build up is wild, sounds like some 60's SciFi soundtrack in the best way possible, and here comes your man on the vocals, sounds like a space robot, perfect for the song! 52 Girls, jangly pop sort of driving beat like all their songs, it works well for them, ladies on the vocals. Dance This Mess Around, a song that you can't really dance to that's about dances! Amazing work! Rock Lobster, CLASSIC!! Lava, more straightforward rock song, well at least for them, and it's still weird! There's a Moon in the Sky (Called the Moon), well that's the most B-52's song title I can think of, this is that out there stuff I expected from this band, a song about the moon and just shouting plants out, sign me up! Hero Worship, kind of just happening in the background, hardly noticed that the song changed, ooops! 6060-842, well they sing the title, wasn't expecting that! And they're saying it over and over, I really should have saw this coming! Has a new wave on acid feel musically. Downtown, I think this is a cover...the greatest cover ever! A great listen can get away from you and might be better mixed in with other songs.

Fantastic compilation of their first two records, I actually own this and remember really enjoying it! It hits all the right notes and still sounds good! Nothing but back to back bangers! Hard to rate seeing as it's sort of a best of not an actual album.

Big singles off this, some filler and the song May This Be Love sounds like all three guys are playing a different song at the same time! The version I'm listening to is the expanded version so more tracks than it should have so it's hard to rate, do you use the UK version, US or expanded version?

This album is FANTASTIC!! I'm blown away by how good it is...I have heard of this band but clearly never listened to them, my mistake! Really deserves a good sit down listen which I will do in the future, it really blindsided me! A few tracks are a little lacking so it's not perfect but it's damn good!

Noooooooooo! First song is 18 minutes long! Starts with birds and chimes? Prog is both good and way too self indulgent! I like ideas in the music but they need to be removed, shortened and made into more manageable songs! The sing chanting doesn't help! All the playing is too notch, just nerds that wouldn't stop until they were perfect players! Oh it's supposed to sound like a bunch of songs it's like part 1,2,3 or whatever! 18 minutes later...still not sold on prog but I didn't turn it off! Oh track 2 is only 10 minutes and I've heard this before! Still can't get into the voice!

Kind of gives Grateful Dead vibes but if they didn't go further than like 3 minute pop songs, all the Dead without the drugs! Also heavy Beatles energy!

Go where you whatever this is too repetitive. Spanish Harlem, banger of a song, trash version! Somebody Groovy... fucking seriously, groovy...Hey Girl, come fuck with me not that asshole, mans going for it! You Baby, another pimp anthem, this dude is trying!

LoL I'm familiar with this, is 5 really enough? This was released at the most ideal time in my life and I've lived with this for what seems like forever so I can't give it less than 5!!

Oh what to do about the Morrissey of it all? Love this album and think 5 stars right away but then I remember that Morrissey is a thing, this is always tough, separating the art from the artist. In the end this record is too good not to rate a 5, but fuck Morrissey!

This is a lost gem for me! I've heard of this band but only really their big single and that one album! Mark Lanegan is amazing, should get a lot more shine than he did! Very solid rock record that breaks out of the grunge label

Never been a fan of Jay Z after listening to this my opinion hasn't changed, dude is corny! Beats sound dated, very 2000's, rap music is wild, it really was of its time! It doesn't help I wasn't all that interested in rap music at this time, kind of outgrew it by the time Jay Z was a big deal. KRS ALREADY MADE THE BLUEPRINT STUPID

What more can be said about this that hasn't already been said, a perfect record, a modern classic that actually deserves to be called that!

I recently revisited this album and really enjoyed it! Looking forward to listening to it again! Love that it starts off with a mixture of so many sounds! Really great way to introduce your band and their sound! I thought Brimful of Asha was a massive pop hit but I don't think that's the case! Perception plays a big part of reviewing these albums! Love the instrumental interludes! Overall this record has a lot going on and it all works really well together!

All sounds the same!

Starts with 3 BANGERS! This Nirvana demo is dope! He's really trying to find himself and his sound, it's a solid record and a sign of what's to come but feels more like a demo than a complete album. More like an EP with lots of filler

Know the name more than the music! Taking me back with the sound of the 90's! Enjoying it for what it is, don't think it's really a standout from everything else out at the time. I like Into The Drink, Fuzz Gun '91, Pokin' Around and Check Out Time. Not mindblowing, it's a fine record.

I'm familiar with The Cure but I'm not that familiar with this record! I really enjoyed it! I was surprised at how much it was an instrumental heavy record, I expected more Robert Smith and it took until the last half of the album for him to really show out! Great record, love all the build up and the music is beautiful!

Very 90's! The singles are just too massive and it sort of takes away from the rest of the record. I feel like they got better on each album after this, probably their most popular album and far from their best but still really good.

Nice early noisy Sonic Youth! I actually have been more into late period SY the last few years it's nice to go back to this one! This is a really great record, it's been a long time, it really sounds fresh to my ears I guess when you're not chasing trends you can't really sound dated! I really like the noisy songs as much as the more "subdued" ones! Fucking love Lee Ranaldo lead songs!

This album is outstanding! Lyrically might be a little rough but the beats are on point and the skills on the mic are there, even if I would be ok never hearing the singles again this is still an easy 5/5

Amazing record! It didn't fully hit me at first but when it did it hit hard! A very grown up record that you can dance to but know your knees can't take too much movement so you sort of fake it as best as you can!

Surprised this is on here, you'd think one of their other records would be here over this, this is good but not their best! They are really comfort food and have just banger after banger, you never realize it until you go down a rabbit hole and find out how many great songs they have! Their cover of Proud Mary is great...oh what's that, they wrote it? Well goddamn I feel like Tina Turner said, nah, fuck that, that's my song now and never looked back! There is a nice cover on this so I'm half right!

It's a shame about the singer! I really enjoy this record, it's been a while so I'm looking forward to revisiting this one.

This is one of my favorite albums of all time, PE couldn't miss during this time, the Bomb Squad were on fire, the beats were fire, the rhymes hard as fuck and you can't deny Fight the Power! Welcome to the Terrordome is an all timer, Flav is on point and 9-1-1 is a fucking joke!

This one is great, the way they stitched together everything is magical! Albums like this always make me wonder what music would be like if there were no sampling laws!

An interesting follow up to their big breakthrough, they seemed to have turned away from what everyone liked about Funeral and made a completing and complex frustrating follow up! I enjoy it but can see why it's not everyone's favorite.

Great mixed bag here showing a lot of different influences. Black Thought is a very underrated emcee or at least he was, I think people are coming around.

This is a great record, I discovered this late and have been enjoying it ever since!

This is a stone cold classic for a reason, they really captured the moment in time and put it on record! I enjoyed the follow-up as well even if it was too many years too late. This had massive bangers on it and some top tier deep cuts, worth a revisit although time and place plays a huge factor in this release so it loses a little something all these years later

God these guys suck, who the fuck listens to Steely Dan? This is music for people that don't actually enjoy listening to music they just want to show off their $10,000 Soundsystem while looking down at you, guess what, you're an asshole and so are Ted Steely and Dan Danielson! Ain't nobody fucking to this record BTW

This is my shit! Highly recommended! The drums on this are just outstanding, super heavy and just driving, they are a force! The whole band just blends together perfectly, 20 minute plus songs you wish were longer, just perfect!

This one is hard to rate, as a kid this was my shit, Cube could do no wrong, straight outta NWA and right into the Bomb Squads universe! It was a perfect combination for me musically and Cube didn't disappoint! Listening now is a whole lot different, the beats are still dope but the lyrics are very suspect! It's hard to remove this from its place and time for me as this was an album of my youth that came out in that sweet spot where you're just developing your music taste, back then it's a 10/5 now it's much harder. You got a problem I've got a problem solver and the names revolver...ok that has nothing to do with this young upstart out of the United Kingdom that I feel like is going places! I don't think this band made a bad record and giving it anything less than 4 to 5 stars just feels like you're hating for no reason!

Fantastic record that rips and has messages that still ring true today

The album that sparked my love for hip hop music. It is hard to explain the impact of this record at the time, it was a shift in rap that moved it forward lightyears. Without Run DMC the world of rap and hip hop would be a much different animal

Horny horn business! I don't think I like jazz as much as I used to and really I didn't really like it much back then! Wow, two songs in just under 40 minutes? I like the organ at the beginning. Here comes the horn!

Records this old always just feel like a compilation of singles thrown together way after the fact just so you can buy the music twice...and still he probably didn't see a dime for his work! Banger after banger of just filth! Well it's sort of not so well hidden filth but it fooled enough people! Yeah this is just feel good tune after feel good tune, listen once and you'll feel like you've listened 1000 times

I finally listened to Blur last year, ran through their discography and this was my favorite!

I think I can make it through life without ever listening to this record. I have no desire to play this and can spend my time actually listening to music I enjoy. I have yet to discover many good records on this list that either I have never heard of heard of but never listened. Another terrible pick! Eleven Stars!

Five star classic, everything you want in an instrumental hip hop record!

My favorite of their catalogue this one hits you like a tonne of bricks and never lets up! I prefer the original order of the tracklist and original cover but that's just me!

Just listened to this going to start a band! There's always money in the banana stand! I think I appreciate the songs with Nico more as I got older than when I first heard this. This is just a great album front to back and actually lives up to the hype

Easy 5/5 an all time classic! Used to rock the purple tape daily when it came out and it still hits today! This was the Wu at the height of their powers, they were untouchable.

This was mindblowing the first time I ever heard this! It had so many elements in it I dug, Kool Keith's straight up weirdness on the mic, DJ Q-Bert on the cuts and Dan the Automator on the beats? It was a recipe for one hell of a fucked up stew! It delivers on all levels and it might seem a little problematic lyrically these days I can't deny how much it hit me when it came out!

Things I am: a fire starter, a twisted fire starter I think I used to play this way too much back when it came out, about to time travel back to a simpler time! From my memory I got sick of the singles real quick and really dug into the rest of the tracks.

This is nowhere as good as the worst White Stripes album. His solo work never did it for me, had some songs but never seemed to recapture the magic of The White Stripes.

Solid record, really dope production and lyrics. It was really hard for a lady emcee to breakthrough and for the most part she seemed authentic but there will always be a little bit of that feeling she's trying to be too much like one of the boys, hip hop has a checkered past when it comes to a lot of things ladies on the mic not getting their respect is one of them

A great album to play loud! I've dipped in and out on Dino Jr over the years so it's hard to say this is better or worse than some of their other output but I do like it.

Perfection! Just an amazing debut record that set off a rock resurgence in NYC and around the world. Opened my eyes to indie rock with one ear towards the future and one checking out the past and all the great bands doing it before them! Easy 5

I'd be really interested to know where Jimi would have went musically if he never dies, it's a great what if. This just has too many great songs to not rank high

Classic, so much emotion on this record probably right up there with my favorite records not just by Neil but all time

Love this as a full listen more than picking and choosing singles. Really tells a story of what the suburbs used to be like before they really become cookie cutter houses and neighborhoods. The feeling of boredom, isolation and abandonment really come though on this. This is for a generation of kids that were sent out into the world to fend for themselves, at least until the streetlights came on!

Masterpiece, I can listen to this all day, Neil has one hell of a discography and like Bowie will at least have one or two interesting things on each record or a great concept that he sometimes hits the mark on but can always fall short

Bowie is always at least interesting and you'll always find something you'll like on his records, not the first one I'd grab but I'm not turning it off if it comes on.

So? More like No! None of these records appeal to me, I want to discover new music, even if it's old music, but it's always the same old bullshit I can't get in to.

Love Devo, this album is great, like most of their output, I think having a massive hit really hurts them in most people's eyes but they never disappoint on each record, you'll find some bangers throughout

When I got into Sonic Youth I jumped in feet first and really embraced the early noisy stuff and would just play records like this over and over again! Eventually I mellowed out and embraced their later albums and play them much more but going back to this one I remembered why I fell in love with SY in the first place!

Fantastic debut record really is a vibe. My only issue is some of the songs seem to be all build and need to just explode but sadly never do. Still in rotation and I just got the anniversary edition so it's not like those things bother me in the end

I'm not sure why this album is included, there are better Radiohead albums to choose from, this is good but not top tier Radiohead! I remember listening to the early leak of this and enjoying it but feeling a little let down when I heard the official release. All that being said it's still a Radiohead album and it's better than most of the shit I'm fed off this list
