Popular Reviews

Bad by Michael Jackson

Just proves you can fool a lot of people some of the time.

Pet Sounds by The Beach Boys

"a cohesive work with no filler tracks"?? Why's there so many duff fillers, then. This is below average tosh, and apart from a couple of tracks, not worth the time.

Scott 2 by Scott Walker

Some said this isn't elevator music. They were right. Its far far worse. This is music to take the stair to avoid.

Hybrid Theory by Linkin Park

To be fair its not a bad song, but did they have to record it so many times?

Jack Takes the Floor by Ramblin' Jack Elliott
Jun 05 2024

He can have the whole building, provided he doesn't inflict any more of this leech on me.

Young Americans by David Bowie
Jun 07 2024

Generally garbage. YA is almost acceptable and Fame is original, but why? And why on earth did anyone think Across the Universe needed to be covered. And covered so badly. Couldn't even get the tune right.

Document by R.E.M.
Jun 10 2024

More my kinda thing. The End of the World is a classic. The rest not up to the same standard but listenable.

Destroyer by KISS
Jun 11 2024

Not my cup of tea.

21 by Adele
Jun 12 2024
Hunky Dory by David Bowie
Jun 13 2024

I listened to this a Dylan's Time out of Mind at the same time. The contrast was amazing. One huge talent that had become boring and irrelevant, contrasting with largely unknown beginning to show the genius that bloom into Ziggy and Aladdin. Life on Mars by far the best track. And Rik Wakeman's keyboards are out of this world. A few bummers to, but the boy was still learning.

Medúlla by Björk
Jun 19 2024

1,000 albums to hear before you die, and a dud.

Disraeli Gears by Cream
Jun 20 2024

Not a patch on Wheels of Fire, but still brilliant.

Raw Like Sushi by Neneh Cherry
Jun 22 2024

Better than I thought it would be.

Pelican West by Haircut 100
Jun 27 2024

instantly forgettable crap.

Hot Fuss by The Killers
Jun 29 2024

Not impressed. So many people (well somebody) told me how great they are. so many people are wrong. One good track, some average stuff, and the padding. A Two just because I like Somebody Told Me!

Butterfly by Mariah Carey
Jun 30 2024

Couldn't listen to this garbage

The Suburbs by Arcade Fire
Jul 01 2024

Why? Why would anyone buy this? Why would anyone listen to it? Why would anyone waste their time recording it? Why would anyone think people would want to listen to it? Why? Why?? Why???

Rio by Duran Duran
Jul 02 2024

Why Why Why?

Faith by George Michael

Jul 08 2024

Much preferred Free/Mott the Hoople/King Crimson before BC formed. Average rock, but never better than that.

Ten by Pearl Jam
Jul 11 2024

OK

Heroes to Zeros by The Beta Band
Jul 15 2024

Bland. In fact blander than that,

Murder Ballads by Nick Cave & The Bad Seeds
Jul 16 2024

What a brilliant album. Great production, marvellous performances by Nick and the band, and v interesting songs/tales.

Jul 18 2024

What a waste of time. There is nothing good about this album. My cat writes more interesting songs.

Moss Side Story by Barry Adamson
Jul 19 2024

The sound track was awful. The film was better.

S&M by Metallica
Jul 20 2024

I'm glad I listened to this. Sorry meant I'm glad I'm not listening to it anymore.

Moondance by Van Morrison
Jul 22 2024

Jul 30 2024

Crap. Total crap. And bland AF.

Make Yourself by Incubus
Aug 01 2024

A total and utter waste of time!

Aug 02 2024

Garbage. One catchy riff. Whole album sounds like it was written over a quick breakfast while suffering from the night before.

Veckatimest by Grizzly Bear
Aug 05 2024

Well that was a waste of time.

Aug 06 2024

I thought this was going to be a load of s***. Its not. Not impressed on first playing. But better on second. And really growing on me with each playing.

Gris Gris by Dr. John
Aug 08 2024

On first play it was crap, but might be growing on me.

xx by The xx
Aug 12 2024

Not my kind of music, but some good tracks, Dangerous and I See You.

...Baby One More Time by Britney Spears
Aug 14 2024

Easiest review ever! This is total s***e. S***e of the s****est quality. Don't waste your time listening to it.

Revolver by Beatles
Aug 15 2024

Brilliant. One of the best albums ever. Yellow Submarine is the worst track - it's only a four. And it was very popular with the kids when I was growing up. Everything else is five star plus.

Alien Lanes by Guided By Voices
Aug 17 2024

Shite. Tried the infinite number of monkeys trick - if you record enough tracks some of them must be good. They did not record enough!

Hard Again by Muddy Waters
Aug 19 2024

Brilliant. Only possible complaint is that at times too much is going on. All the band are brilliant, but they don't all have to show off their brilliance the same time.

New York Dolls by New York Dolls
Aug 20 2024

Like this, particularly Personality Crisis. It sounds far too rough to be American.

Aftermath by The Rolling Stones
Aug 22 2024

The Stones break out from covers to become the best rock band ever.

Can't Buy A Thrill by Steely Dan
Aug 24 2024

Bland and boring. Shame. They obviously can play and "Ricki dont loose that number" (not on this album) is one of my favourite songs.

Ghosteen by Nick Cave & The Bad Seeds
Aug 25 2024

Crap

Treasure by Cocteau Twins
Aug 26 2024

Not for me.

Tidal by Fiona Apple
Aug 28 2024

A Grammy?????

It's Too Late to Stop Now by Van Morrison
Sep 03 2024

I used to like Van Morrison. I liked Them, and his early stuff. Moondance is an absolute classic. Brown Eyed Girl is great. But after a few superlative albums he seemed to go to seed, and just stop trying. Like on this album. Some great songs, and a really good band. But VM just detracts from that. He mumbles. I couldn't listen to Here Comes the Night again. He murders it. Can't even get the tune right. So a grudging 2.

Truth by Jeff Beck
Sep 04 2024

Blues rock from the late sixties. This should be my kind of music. Beck has always been hailed as a guitarists guitarist. So many of my favourites list him as a major influence. And Ron Wood and Rob Stewart before Rod really found hoarse. But I hate it. I don't know if Beck is technically great, or innovative or what. But whatever his technical brilliance or innovations I wish he hadn't. They don't add anything for me. A grudging 2 as there are a couple of OK tracks.

Vivid by Living Colour
Sep 05 2024

Crap.

The Rising by Bruce Springsteen
Sep 11 2024

All sounds the same. There are much better Springsteen albums around!

Blonde On Blonde by Bob Dylan
Sep 12 2024

All sounds the same. There are much better Springsteen albums around!

Pet Sounds by The Beach Boys
Sep 13 2024

"a cohesive work with no filler tracks"?? Why's there so many duff fillers, then. This is below average tosh, and apart from a couple of tracks, not worth the time.

Forever Changes by Love
Sep 14 2024

Kinda obvious why it failed when first released. A couple of good tracks and a pile of garbage.

The Libertines by The Libertines
Sep 16 2024

Mostly crap. Sounds like they are still out of it from the night before.

The Coral by The Coral
Sep 17 2024

Nice light wait rocky.

Ace of Spades by Motörhead
Sep 18 2024

Brilliant. The power, the energy, the excitement.

Brothers In Arms by Dire Straits
Sep 19 2024

I know this is one of the best ever, but..... I've always found it boring and depressing. Every song too long!

In Utero by Nirvana
Sep 23 2024

Nope! You're wrong! Definitely did not need to hear this. Biggest load of sh 8te I've heard since I (accidentally) stood on the cat.

3 + 3 by The Isley Brothers
Sep 25 2024

A couple of great tracks

Da Capo by Love
Sep 26 2024

Absolutely great first side and then they blow it!

Faust IV by Faust
Oct 02 2024

Not for me.

So by Peter Gabriel
Oct 04 2024
This Year's Model by Elvis Costello & The Attractions
Oct 07 2024

Fan Tas Tic. The drive and excitement. The angst. Elvis loves music, and if you don't love this, you don't love music.

Bayou Country by Creedence Clearwater Revival
Oct 08 2024

I really liked CCR in the 60/70s. Great tunes, usually with much more drive, more bite, more excitement than so much of the bland stuff that was around. Wasn't familiar with their albums - couldn't afford albums then. So familiar with a few tracks only. But what a disappointment. They attack each track like a dog savaging a slipper. The vocals are too intense. The guitar a sharp stabbing pain. And it's so short. 34 minutes! Only 7 tracks! Keep on Chooglin and Draveyard Train are for tooo long. They say what they want to say, then say it again, and again, and again, and again. Any how could anyone think the world need another cover of Good Golly Miss Molly? Proud Mary is a classic (I did know this was the original, and still the best).

Beggars Banquet by The Rolling Stones
Oct 09 2024

What a disappointment. The greatest Rock n Roll Band ever! So should be great!! Opens with Sympathy for the Devil, one of the BEST tracks ever!!! Brilliant!!!! Follows that by bring us back down with the beautifully wistful No Expectations!!!!! Superlative!!!!!! But then goes downhill from there. Street Fighting Man has a bit of oomph! Salt of the Earth is good. But the rest. Beautifully played, great production, but just a collection of mediocre country blues. They sound as if they aren't really trying. Should add that if you want mediocre country blues then you want the Stones playing it!

Roots by Sepultura
Oct 10 2024

Thank god it wasn't a double.

Dig Me Out by Sleater-Kinney
Oct 11 2024

A poor mans X-Ray specs!

Oct 29 2024

Never could understand how great musicians could sound so bland.

Oct 31 2024

Brilliant stuff. Just one man and his guitar. No one else. No fancy production. Just brilliant. And if you wreathe Wiki article it shows what sh**s Led Zeppelin are!

Peggy Suicide by Julian Cope
Nov 01 2024

Nevermind by Nirvana
Nov 22 2024

The group that thought 6 random notes is a tune!

Back In Black by AC/DC
Nov 24 2024

Never been a fan. They can create a bit of excitement and enthusiasm, but the music is very basic, and the slow numbers plod. And can't stand the screaming.

Bummed by Happy Mondays

Not my kinda music.

Dub Housing by Pere Ubu
Nov 28 2024

Crap. Tha crapest crap.

Loved the excitement and enthusiasm.

Violator by Depeche Mode
Dec 05 2024

Sure sh*te. Personal Jesus the only track worth listening to.

Ys by Joanna Newsom
Dec 09 2024

Weird. like a cross between Bjork (on a good day), Enya, and Kate Bush. Not for me, but it was growing on me.

Bad by Michael Jackson
Dec 13 2024

Just proves you can fool a lot of people some of the time.

The Bends by Radiohead
Dec 14 2024

Just OK, no better.

Broken English by Marianne Faithfull
Dec 22 2024

Crap. And shit crap at that.

Born To Run by Bruce Springsteen
Dec 27 2024

The Boss? The egotistic fool. "Wall of sound"??? Wall of mush. he occasionally writes a good song (Like born to Run) but then over produces it death. Yea, might sound epic the first time, but after 2 or 3 listens its just a wall of tuneless mush. 6 months to record Born to Run? Bet it sounded better after 6 hours.

Hybrid Theory by Linkin Park
Dec 28 2024

To be fair its not a bad song, but did they have to record it so many times?

Grace by Jeff Buckley
Dec 29 2024

Don't see what all the fuss is about. And hate the screeching. Only good track is Hallelujah, and its not a patch on the original.

Ocean Rain by Echo And The Bunnymen
Dec 30 2024

Why? Just why?

Giant Steps by The Boo Radleys
Dec 31 2024

Weird, but strangely enjoyable.

Jan 02 2025

Bliss. One of the best three albums ever. Probably the best concept album ever. Keyboards are amazing. The variations in speed, key, emotion are just wonderful. And each track fits so beautifully together to make a fantastic whole. Truely a Ten, out of five.

Infected by The The
Jan 07 2025

Not even worthy of a name?

Raw Power by The Stooges
Jan 25 2025

Feb 03 2025

Brilliant. Rock, folk blues. They could do it all. And with feeling!

Movies by Holger Czukay
Feb 06 2025

Definitely different!

Achtung Baby by U2
Feb 07 2025

Not that bad, but why depart from what you are good at? And to many tracks are sooooo overproduced you can't be sure there is anything listenable under all the mush.

Car Wheels On A Gravel Road by Lucinda Williams
Feb 08 2025

On first play, what boring pap, util you get to "Joy". What a great track. Brilliant five star. Shame the singer can't sing. If fact she sounds bored to death singing that boring pap. Def time for some singing lessons. And some enthusiasm. And mibbie a new songwriter. After a few more plays, some of it is growing on me, slightly. Still boring pap, but acceptable boring pap. And she still needs singing lessons.

Mr. Tambourine Man by The Byrds
Feb 09 2025

What a disappointment. If this is America's answer to the Beatles, you guys didn't understand the question.

Out Of The Blue by Electric Light Orchestra
Feb 10 2025

Over produced American sounding pap. Hits good. But rest boring.

Shleep by Robert Wyatt
Feb 17 2025

A couple of great/good tunes and the most annoying voice ever. He should only bellowed to sing on instrumentals.

Picture Book by Simply Red
Feb 20 2025

Great voice, one great track

Transformer by Lou Reed
Feb 21 2025

Some absolute beautes, some absolute crap.

Night Life by Ray Price
Feb 22 2025

What kind of hell is this? There's some good songs on the album, and good musicians in the band, but Mr Price must be the most bo-ring singer ever. He sucks the life out of every song, and leaves the bones behind. Wish I could give it zero, or minus marks.

Foxbase Alpha by Saint Etienne
Feb 26 2025

Some interesting ideas, and a lot of garbage!

Kenza by Khaled
Mar 07 2025

Brilliant stuff, I love it. And would never have listened to it but for 1001 albums.

Hail To the Thief by Radiohead
Mar 09 2025

I've tried and tried real hard, but I can't find any reason why anyone would want to listen to this! Ever!

Opus Dei by Laibach
Mar 11 2025

Certainly different. More interesting than Coldplay who just thieved 6 hours of my life. But not my kinda music.

Exile On Main Street by The Rolling Stones
Mar 12 2025

The Stones best album? Its full of padding. Nothing worth listening to. How they miss Bryan Jones.

The Trinity Session by Cowboy Junkies
Mar 20 2025

Not my favourite kind of music, but much of it is absolutely beautiful. This record shows why the world needs Canada more than it needs the USA.

Moby Grape by Moby Grape
Mar 24 2025

Typical sixties sound. Just beautiful. Like music to my ears!

Hot Rats by Frank Zappa
Mar 25 2025

Some nice guitar work, but that's all.

Physical Graffiti by Led Zeppelin
Mar 29 2025

Not their best, a bit plodding at times, and some padding added to make it a double, but all blown away by Kashmir. What a song. WHAT a song.

All Things Must Pass by George Harrison
Mar 30 2025

The first and best ex Beatle album. (OK the live jam stuff is a bit of unnecessary padding, but...)

Come Away With Me by Norah Jones
Apr 05 2025

Do people actually listen to this pap? I mean listen. Not just put it on and ignore it because there is nothing worth listening to. It might be slightly more interesting than the street noise outside, but that's it. And people pay to listen to it? Lots of people? I worry for the human race.

Tom Tom Club by Tom Tom Club
Apr 06 2025

I can see why these guys would want out of Talking Heads and away from David Byrne's shadow. But it was a mistake. Wordy Rappinghood the opened is brilliant, but its rapidly downhill from thereon.

Here Are the Sonics by The Sonics
Apr 07 2025

No. They're wrong. I don't have to hear this, ever. FFS, this is absolute sh*te. Four fourteen year olds in their dads shed with instruments they hadn't seen til yesterday. The only reason to listen to this is to show how much better the Beatles and all the rest of the "British Invasion" band could play.

Closer by Joy Division
Apr 13 2025

Factually accurate. Simplified as its a short answer.

Harvest by Neil Young
Apr 14 2025

Not a bundle of laughs, but beautiful. If only he could sing!

Whatever by Aimee Mann
Apr 15 2025

Argh! More mindless American pap! There is more to music than just playing notes. I can see the boardroom execs thinking this is so bland it will offend no-one, and be loved by middle aged bunnies every where as its so "safe". Someone said it was beatlesesque!? Dung Beatles.

Too Rye Ay by Dexys Midnight Runners
Apr 20 2025

When they get it right they are brilliant. When they don't, it's a bit boring. Just buy the singles.

Queen II by Queen
Apr 21 2025

Brilliant. Queen when they were still a rock band before the camp theatricals took over. Fantastic stuff. Seven Seas is their best ever.

KIWANUKA by Michael Kiwanuka
Apr 22 2025

Beautiful, just beautiful.

Scott 2 by Scott Walker
Apr 24 2025

Some said this isn't elevator music. They were right. Its far far worse. This is music to take the stair to avoid.

With The Beatles by Beatles
Apr 26 2025

Pure bliss. Old bliss admittedly, but bliss nevertheless.

Dookie by Green Day
Apr 27 2025

Well at least its happy bouncy music, even if terribly shallow and same.

Innervisions by Stevie Wonder
Apr 28 2025

Disappointing. The UK singles, Misstra Know it all, Higher Ground, Living for the City, are great. The rest? boring pap.

Will The Circle Be Unbroken by Nitty Gritty Dirt Band
Apr 29 2025

Pure unadulterated boring sh*te! Was going to say great-great grandpapy music, but thought some would take that as approval, and not a comment about when it went out of date!

Heartattack And Vine by Tom Waits
May 01 2025

I like Tom Waits. I like his music. I like his lyrics. But I can't b hear them! Taking the P!

Paul Simon by Paul Simon

1999 by Prince
May 14 2025

Biggest load of sh*te ever since the last biggest load of sh*te ever two days ago (yesterdays was just an average load of sh*te).

Here, My Dear by Marvin Gaye
May 15 2025

Not his best, but... Previous album was Prince, but listening to Marvin Gaye, I realised Gaye was doing everything Prince did, but SO much better, and doing it first.

May 31 2025

The last Chicago album worth listening to. Interesting musically, and a bit of excitement! Then there is the guitar solo. Amazing that anyone can get those sounds out of a guitar. Even more amazing that anyone would want to listen to it.

American Idiot by Green Day
Jun 01 2025

An album that begins "I don't want to be an American Idiot..." What's not to like.

Some brilliance, some boring.

The Beach Boys Today! by The Beach Boys
Jun 13 2025

Is this it? Is this really it? America's answer to the Beatles? It's not even an answer to the Silver Beatles. Pack up, go home, your wasting you time. And a cover? Do you wanna Dance? The worst version ever. But the real laugh? It's still the best track on the album! Help them Rhonda, they need it!

Band On The Run by Paul McCartney and Wings
Jun 15 2025

Brilliant stuff. Best post Beatles Beatle album? Ironically his bass playing is pretty boring.

Be by Common
Jun 17 2025

On the count of there - for god's sake go!

Younger Than Yesterday by The Byrds
Jun 19 2025

Always thought of the Byrds as boring country/folky. But this is really good. A mixture of rocky stuff and pop. Always interesting. And "So you want to be .." is a blistering opening track.

Frampton Comes Alive by Peter Frampton
Jun 20 2025

The three singles are good, but what was all the fuss about? Rest is kinda boring.

Bone Machine by Tom Waits
Jun 21 2025

Jul 21 2025

If I were to choose a JLH album, it wouldn't be this one. Still flashes of brilliance.

Cloud Nine by The Temptations
Jul 23 2025

I liked soul in the 60s and 70s. Singles were good, great sometimes. But albums never worked.

Vol. 4 by Black Sabbath
Jul 24 2025

As I kid I bought the paranoid single. Brilliant. The B side, the Wizard, was even better. So where did this lump of plodding balance crap come from?

Fragile by Yes
Jul 25 2025

The vast majority won't get this! Fantastic musicians playing superb music, far too sophistic for the average punter brought up on the modern pap they call music - "I got together the 100 best composers and arrangers and producers in the world and after a month they had written a song for me" stuff. Music where the video, the the costumes and the dancing are more important than the music stuff. This is the real thing. You may have to listen to it more than once, but it is worth it.

Don't know why this works, but it does.

Go Girl Crazy by The Dictators
Aug 14 2025

Punk? Or Protopunk? Garbage. Just shows that the US idea of punk is crap. Punk has to be fast. Anarchically fast. It has to be in your face. It has to be loud. But not tunefully. Only the UK can do real Punk. This album is not punk. Nowhere near it. What it is is rock n roll. And good rock n roll at that.

Larks' Tongues In Aspic by King Crimson
Aug 16 2025

Most people count get this. It's British, it's Prog, and it's King Crimson. This isn't poppy pap with young "ladies" strutting their stuff and wriggling their bums. This isn't stoned stoners who can barely stand never mind play. This isn't twee C&W. This is real music. Music you have to listen to. Not music for the background, or while your washing dishes, hoovering or in the bath. Music you have to really listen to, and listen to again, and again. Only then, and only if you have the intelligence, will you appreciate the beauty.

He shouldn't have bothered. This is just a huge pile of steaming keech! I've heard others doing many of these songs. In every case these were FAR better than Elvis. His vocals are awful, particularly on Fever. An insult to the entire American people.

It's not the first Prog album, nor the first prog album to have only a single suit. Nevertheless, t is an important album in the history of modern music. The time signatures, the instrumentation! Unclassifiable, but brilliant. And by a total unknown. Fifteen million buyers can't be wrong.

Brilliant. Heavy V/G/G/B/D rock. We need more of that on here rather than the Yank keech they keep serving up.

Wiki: "Readers of Kerrang! voted it as the worst album of 2000, with the band and Fred Durst also being voted the worst band of 2000 and "Arse of the Year", respectively. Even so, Chocolate Starfish and the Hot Dog Flavored Water was listed in the book for 1001 Albums You Must Hear Before You Die, but later removed in recent editions of the book." 'bout says it all.

First track ok, but downhill from there.

Heartbreaker by Ryan Adams
Jul 10 2026

I've played it three times, and hardly noticed it was playing. Totally bland an uninteresting , except Shakedown On 9th Street and To Be Young. Which earns a second star. But I did recognise this is Ryan Adams. And not Bryan.

Genius.

Good Old Boys by Randy Newman
Jul 16 2026

I'd forgotten how good Randy is. Really calls out the US for the shitshow it is. Make America Great For The First Time!

Manassas by Stephen Stills
Jul 17 2026

It does "convince you of Stills' worth". Not a lot!

Pearl by Janis Joplin

Second JJ within a week! Not as good as Cheap Thrills

Surrealistic Pillow by Jefferson Airplane

Bliss. Rabbit must be one of the best tracks ever.

461 Ocean Boulevard by Eric Clapton
Jul 24 2026

Motherless Children is a great opener, but rapidly downhill after that.

Yank Crime by Drive Like Jehu
Jul 25 2026

People listen to this? Voluntarily? For amusement? And survive?

Green River by Creedence Clearwater Revival
Jul 27 2026

I like CCR, but this has too many bummers. And only 30 mins! Including a crap cover!

Keech

Face to Face by The Kinks
Aug 01 2026

The Yanks won't get this, as its too much of a English album about the English. Their loss. This is brilliant.

Bryter Layter by Nick Drake
Aug 02 2026

Gets better every time I play it.

Parklife by Blur
Aug 03 2026

Brilliant. I see the Yanks are jealous.

Kimono My House by Sparks
Aug 04 2026

An old friend. The first cassette I ever bought. Frequently played until Carole borrowed it, never to return it. This is labelled as Glam Rock. But Glam isn't a consistent musical genre (category for our American cousins). But then how can you categorise (sic) Sparks? My particular favourite is Equator. Equator, equator equator equaaaa-tor!

Rain Dogs by Tom Waits

Some pleasant ditties.

Chris by Christine and the Queens
Aug 07 2026

Great. We have conclusive proof that in 2018 the French could produce music just as bad as the Americans could in the 1980s.

Since I Left You by The Avalanches
Aug 10 2026

Biggest load of keech since the last big load of keech!

Pump by Aerosmith

Hair today, gone tomorrow!

Pacific Ocean Blue by Dennis Wilson

Even he looks disappointed with the album.
