1001 Albums Summary

I love this kind of themed album, and it was full of excellent songs as well! I remember hearing this album for the first time when I was probably 13 or 14 and was amazed and in awe of the whole concept. Loved David Bowie ever since

I know this album is a big deal but it just seems disjointed on first listen. Going to have to try it a few more times and try and figure out what Bowie was thinking

Didn't realize there were so many hits on this album. Liked it more than I expected

Fantastic album. Highlights are of course Bridge, Cecilia, and the Boxer

I enjoyed listening but not sure when I would listen again. I have no link to this music, beside of course Frank's great Christmas tunes

I have loved this album since the day I bought it in the mid-80s. Talking Heads were a fantastic band, but the early albums are so much more raw sounding even though they kind of sound over produced in the studio. I will listen to this album more over time I am sure. And Psycho Killer is one of the great songs of all time

Never heard this album before. I liked it! Sounds like an early version of what I hear these days on alt nation. I would listen again.

I was a little disappointed in this album. I really like Roxy Music, but this early album did not have that feel of the latter albums.

Good White Stripes album. Is really diverse and fun to listen to. Uses many different sound styles and as usual they are very experimental with the sound

I love listening to Muddy Waters, only heard 1 album before. Music is very tight compared to the huge music of today and has a great beat and his awesome vocal style. I read that this concert almost didn't happen because of riots the day before at this blues festival, only thing that saved it was filming the day for a documentary on American culture

Been caught stealing is one of my favorite 80s songs but the rest of the album doesn't seem great to me

I didn't really care about this album as it started but Nina Simone has a really great control of her voice and makes every song something you have to stop and listen too. I ended up really liking it and glad I had this opportunity to find a new (to me) great singer and music

Love this live album. One of the great guitar live shows of the 70s before everything got a bit too heavy. Loved hair bands in the 80s but even then I still loved this album

I had only heard waterfalls before bit this album has lots more. It just kind of flows well through the whole thing. I definitely liked it a lot more than I expected

Debut album. Apparently recorded in a couple days, but the band had been playing 7 45 minutes sets a day in a bar in Zurich, so they had lots of practice for the first couple albums

This was my favorite REM album and since that time I have gone back and listened sooo many times over the years. Definitely one of my top 5 albums of all time

I am partial to Born to Run, but this is probably his second best album. It seems to me that these early albums of Springsteens with the E Street band are so much better than the big stadium anthems he wrote later

I always loved this album. It was my favorite progressive rock album that I first heard around 1981cor so.

A bit too heavy for me these days but WOW this was a fantastic album back when I loved this type of music

2nd favorite Pink Floyd album after Dark Side

This album was a centerpiece of Friday nights when a few of us would hang in a buddies basement drinking beer back on the 80s. Super great uplifting album with a couple moody tracks built in.

I really hate Rage Against the Machine when I hear their stuff on Alt Nation on SiriusXM. Don't get me wrong, i love a lot of heavy stuff and it really bugged me thinking i am too old a guy to like something like this. But after finally listening to this album I think I get it, and I am able to appreciate the hard shredding style, the lyrics are really relevant, not just then but today as well. Hearing really closely I think is important when listening to super heavy music, otherwise it will just seem like sonic assault

This album just was not very interesting to me, makes me wonder why I am listening to all of these albums. Sure we get to hear the best music ever and discover what is really good that we have never heard before, but then you get something like this, nothing wrong with it but Rufus just does not seem like he has created one of the great albums it is just another record that if I head a song on the radio I would switch stations immediately. To me 1 star is offensive, 2 stars is boring, and 3 stars is an album I would be willing to listen to again. This is just a 2 star and again felt like it was stealing my time that could be better spent listening to something that was actually good

I know everyone likes Amy's black album but this one hits harder for me. Sure 50s-60s standards are great but the Jazz singing here is so good that I couldn't help but be focused on it and nothing else. What an amazing troubled soul she was

Wow this is a fantastic album. The only reason it loses a star is because it is covers of songs. Johnny Cash really gives a great performance here right near the end of his life but the energy he brings is awesome

You can hear a bit of the early punk, but it doesn't really get going until their album Raw Power

I think there is a lot here to love. I know that Malcolm McLaren gets a lot of hate but the vision he has for music seems pretty good. This album gives us a lot of that including the adding of the "skits" that I think were not a thing back then but are still used now and a lot of interesting music. Again we sometimes have to seperate the sheister from the music itself

I remember really liking Sultans of Swing, and the. When Brothers in Arms came out it seemed like a different band, probably just because my life had changed so much in those teen years between the albums. I love this album, even if it did seem to only have one hit. Whole album flows so well and the guitar work is just such a great highlight to it all

A little too weird for psychedelic for me. I will stick with Pink Floyd when I want that style of music. These guys were about to become the faces though. The band that would launch one my favorites, Rod Stewart

The strangest of course in Revolution #9 which i thought was just another take of Revolution, but no it is a strange bunch of sound strung together by John, Yoko, and George

I can't believe my good fortunes here, third great album in a row. I have loved the Ramones since probably 1980 when I was just a kid. I know the idea that their songs all sound alike but really they all sound fresh when you hear them and have so much energy. Many may disagree but I have to give this 5 stars for just the influence this band and all of these songs have had on me forever

I liked this a lot. I was going to give it a 3 just because it is not a style I would usually listen to, but on reflection I realized that the live with the crowd interaction amd the energy really bumps it up. I loved this

This is a really great album. I have heard of a few of the songs before, surprised at how many. I think this is a really big deal to me music-wise as it really grabs an urban rough kind of feel. And the music is fantastic in itself

I've never heard this whole album before somehow. It has some really strong tracks for sure, but others that should have never made the album.

It's ok. I tend to like Frank Sinatra but this was not the best.
