Big StarIt was fine, I wouldn't want to listen again but if a single track on I don't think I'd be bothered to switch away or skip it.
It was fine, I wouldn't want to listen again but if a single track on I don't think I'd be bothered to switch away or skip it.
It's all vocal sounds only? Fascinating. I enjoyed it, it was very experimental and odd. Definitely thoughtful art rather than a quick fun listen in the background.
I have heard of Dire Straits, but this was all new to me. Enjoyable. I think I'd listen again, but no songs particularly stood out to me.
Heard of the band, and of the lead singer Lou Reed, but don't think I know any specifics. Pleasant, kind of chill vibe, but I don't think I'd listen to most of the album again, it didn't really speak to me. The only exception was the song Murder Mystery, which tickled my brain in the same way as Glass' Einstein on the Beach or Berio's Sinphonia, with two overlapping vocal tracks at different speeds - I'd relisten to that sometime.
Didn't recognise the band name particularly but a couple of the songs sound very vaguely familiar, maybe just the style? Upbeat, I enjoyed having it on in the background, but I wouldn't seek it out to relisten.
Some nice beats, but overall not my vibes and I did not finish. Would not relisten and would switch away if possible.
Finally some songs I recognise bits and pieces of! Some nice belting, enjoyable enough but not enough that I'd seek it out again.
A very strong start with Big Iron, which I've heard covers of, and generally my current vibe. I enjoyed the whole album, it was very pleasant, I'd would listen again.
It felt a little meh at first, but it quickly grew on me. I think I'd like to listen again reading along with the lyrics, it feels like the kind of vibe I might really like. It reminds me a bit of Leonard Cohen.
I was expecting this to be more familiar to me as I've definitely heard of them the most so far, but I only recongised Bridge Over Troubled Water. The rest was fine, but nothing special.
Very interesting. Simple and stripped back. I really enjoyed it, some bits were beautiful. I relistened immediately with lyrics and will definitely listen again.
Pleasant enough, but it didn't especially thrill me. I don't think I'd switch away from most of the songs (maybe 1 or 2 I would?), but I've no desire to relisten.
Nice enough vocals, not really my thing but I wouldn't switch away.
Obviously I've heard of the band, but only one of the songs was familiar to me. I wouldn't listen again, but it was enjoyable.
I didn't pay much attention to it - distracted today - but it was fine.
I quite enjoyed this on in the background, although I don't think I'd do a deeper listen or actively seek it out again.
Heard of the band but couldn't name you any of their songs. It was interesting, I kind of enjoyed its vibes, but it also felt weird and not my kind of thing at times, so I'm not sure.
Oh, this is fun, a change of pace. I like it, I think I'd listen again.
I like the energy/beat, it sounds not unlike bands I would listen to sometimes normally (punk rockish). Would I seek it out again though? I'm not sure I would. I just wouldn't be surprised or disappointed if they turned up on one of my genre playlists sometime.
Ooh, very interesting, I really like it! First time I've heard of the 'shoegaze' genre, which this apparently defined - kind of ethereal, ambient, distorted version of indie rock?
I've heard of the band, I knew they were heavy metal, but I couldn't have told you anything else. I wasn't expecting to enjoy it, but I mildly do - it's not as heavy as I'd assumed.
Interesting as a change and I enjoyed the drumbeats in a couple of tracks, but mostly not my sort of thing. Would I switch away if it was on in the background? Probably?
I do enjoy having non-English-language albums in the list. It seems like a big range of styles - some tracks I enjoyed quite a bit, others I disliked and skipped through. A frantic energy. All but a couple of tracks I would be happy to have on in the background.
I enjoyed having on in the background, it was likeable. I wouldn't actively seek out though.
Think I may have vaguely heard his name, but definitely heard of his former band the Jam and enjoyed a couple of their songs before. I enjoyed it, some songs were really nice, but I don't think I would seek it out again? Maybe?
Didn't really concentrate on it today, but what I heard I enjoyed and I'd like to relisten sometime.
I enjoyed it, it's similar genre-wise to my normal tastes and I'd listen again. I recognised the voice of the Arctic Monkeys guy immediately, lol.
I've heard of Rod Stewart, he has a distinctive voice, but could only name Maggie May as a song of his. Interesting that it's a mixture of covers and original songs. Enjoyable, I'd listen again but wouldn't seek out.
Heard of Morrissey and like the Smiths, but hadn't heard any of his solo work. I really enjoyed, I like his lyrics in the same way as I like Elbow, just to a lesser extent, nice rhymes and interesting topics.
Interesting. Weird and a bit frenetic, reminds me of kids' show theme tunes vibes at times, but totally different vibes at other times. I like it, it's different.
Heard of the name, but couldn't link with any songs. Good energy, I enjoyed it, but nothing particularly stood out to me. I don't think I'd relisten, but I wouldn't complain if it came up on a playlist or whatever.
Heard of them, familiar with at least one of the songs, maybe more. My kind of thing, I enjoyed - predictable with indie rock it seems.
Did not finish - it was okay, I wouldn't switch away from a song or two, but it all sounds much the same to me and the frantic energy isn't my mood today.
Heard of them, didn't recognise any of the songs. I expected to like it more than I did? Don't know why it didn't attract me, maybe the reggae influences. It was okay.
!!! First time it's a band I'm already very familiar with. I haven't listened to this particular album much before though, so this was a treat. I love it, but that was no surprise.
It was okay. Not much else to say really - it was on, I was trying to pay attention to it, but it wasn't able to keep my interest much. I wouldn't switch away, but it's instantly forgettable for me.
I didn't think much of it at first, it was a bit meh, but in the latter half (it's very long!) there were several songs I quite enjoyed and wouldn't mind relistening to. Pleasing deep voice and a nice energy at times.
Familiar with his name and more famous songs, this is the same style. Not sure disco's my thing, I didn't find it engaging and did not finish.
Not my thing, did not finish. Some of it was okay, a bit scroobius-pip-adjacent, but yeah, I wouldn't relisten.
I was familiar with some of the songs and I enjoyed it, but I wouldn't seek it out to relisten.
Famous album cover! I've heard of the band and album, but didn't know any of the songs. I thought it was good, I can see why it's considered great, but I wouldn't seek it out to relisten.
A bit weird, but in a good way! I would listen to most of it again I think.
Heard the name Limp Bizkit, but couldn't have told you what genre. A mixed bag for me - at best it was okay, at worst I nearly switched away.
Ooh, this is nice! Sufjan Stevens is referenced in a Snow Patrol song, but other than that I had no idea about him. Turns out he has clever, thoughtful lyrics with internal rhymes, very specific subjects and lovely vocals and orchestral music and is just super my vibe. Simply beautiful. I don't love all the songs on this album - some have a few too many religious references - but I can tell I should listen to others of his albums and would probably come away with plenty of new favourites.
It was okay, but I won't want to listen again.
It's fine? Reminiscent of others in the genre, didn't particularly stand out to me.
It was okay, but I won't want to listen again.
Hm. I wanted to like this more than I did, I think. I kept listening hoping for something that would justify giving it 3.5, but ultimately nothing captured my attention enough.
I can cope with jazz in small doses, but this was over an hour long and it bored me, despite the spoken word element.
Not quite my style of folk - I think american/bluegrass isn't my thing- but pleasant enough for a bit. Very very long though - 40 tracks was a bit many so I didn't finish/skipped tracks, but more out of fatigue than not liking any of them.
Heard of them. Nice energy on in the background, but not something I'd seek out again.
I liked this more than I was expected to based on the reputation of the band - it was enjoyable, quite fun!
First duplicate band. I enjoyed it quite a bit, but I wouldn't relisten.
It's all vocal sounds only? Fascinating. I enjoyed it, it was very experimental and odd. Definitely thoughtful art rather than a quick fun listen in the background.
Interesting but I wouldn't relisten. Jazz but weird, a bit more like a chaotic experimental classical piece - I didn't dislike it like I do most jazz, and I appreciated what they were trying to do, but it just didn't spark for me.
Enjoyable. I wouldn't seek it out again but would be happy if it was on, it's got a nice energy.
I enjoyed this! Malian folk, nice for a change! I'm not saving to relisten to though, so perhaps it's just the novelty.
Not my thing, did not finish.
Nice energy, enjoyable in the background.
My kind of thing, I enjoyed and would easily listen again. Heard of the band but I think they were slightly after my time?
Nice enough, I didn't dislike it. I wouldn't mind if it came on again in the background.
Some tracks were duds, but I'd like to listen to many again. I liked the vocals and some of the 'trip hop' instrumentals/music itched my brain in a good way.
Gave it a good try, but it's becoming increasingly clear that jazz just doesn't work for me, did not finish.
A bit cacaphonous.
Nothing special, nice enough.
I skipped forward on several tracks, but others were fine in the background.
Heard of the band and I though maybe I might have heard a song without realising, but I don't think so. I enjoyed, I'd be happy if they turned up on a playlist.
A rock adaptation of a classical piece? Fascinating. Would listen again.
Heard of Lorde. I like her vocal and style but idk, it doesn't hit the spot, the music and lyrics aren't quite my vibe a bit too pop maybe? I don't like it as much as I want to.
Hm. Nice voice and pleasant songs, but pretty slow. Didn't grab me.
Didn't finish, but maybe that was more me than the album. I think it waas listenable, it just wasn't what I was in the mood for. Perhaps revisit.
Not as dislikeable as I thought it might be, fairly pleasant in the background, but not really my groove.
Heard of the band, heard (bits of) some of their songs before. Not bad, but I think I was mostly only enjoying having familiarity.
I know it! I think this is the first album I've already listened to (had a Sigur Ros earlier but it was one I hadn't got). Obviously I enjoyed it, plus nostalgia value, possibly one of the first albums I ever listened to/owned. I could sing along with almost all of it.
A bit of a slog, I did not finish.
Heard of them, I recognised a couple of songs from things like School of Rock, it wasn't bad, but ultimately they're not my thing, bit too heavy.
Second Led Zeppelin album on this list. Enjoyable enoug but I wouldn't relisten.
Quite fun, I didn't dislike it, but not something I'd seek out again or do a closer listen to.
Heard one and a half (cover) of their songs before and always meant to look up their others. Really enjoyed it, would like to do a closer listen with lyrics sometime.
Enjoyable enough, fun energy, but blues just ain't my cup of tea.
I enjoyed it, but I wouldn't seek it out again.
Didn't know I'd heard a couple of her songs, but I have. She has a good voice, but all a bit meh for me.
Familiar with London Calling and their style. It was fun, I enjoyed it.
Pleasant enough, I wouldn't necessarily switch away I don't think, but I wouldn't say I particularly enjoyed it.
Ooh, a bit weird. I felt a lot of it was a bit samey and boring, but then some bits suddenly made some interesting choices. Not sure I'd relisten though.
One I already know, exciting! I very much enjoyed it, tickles the brain in the right way.
Some tracks were a bit garage rocky for me, but others were fine. I wouldn't seek them out again.
It was fine, I wouldn't want to listen again but if a single track on I don't think I'd be bothered to switch away or skip it.
I quite enjoyed this, I think I'd relisten.
Heard of him, obviously, and he sounds like what I thought he sounded like. It was okay, but I wouldn't relisten.
I know a couple of the songs! I enjoyed the energy.
Similar to the previous Black Sabbath album, not too heavy metal, somewhat enjoyable, but I wouldn't seek it out to listen to again.
Familiar with him from his collaboration with Glass. Interesting that the album starts with an explanation of Indian music for a Western audience. I enjoyed it.
Heard his name and heard his coverof Hallelujah (and covers thereof), but not heard any of his other songs. I didn't concentrate on listening, but I enjoyed it enough to think I maybe should relisten sometime.
Familiar with a few of her songs, very nostalgic but not necessarily my thing really.
His previous album was already on this list fairly recently! I enjoyed and would like to relisten. Some tracks really remind me of ?Elbow I think - something about his vocals and the vibe. ?Anohni Johnson, ?Muse, idk, agh, I can't place it.
I thought I didn't know any of the songs (but familiar with the concept), but some of the tunes I have absorbed through osmosis sometime. I quite liked it, I think.
Hm. An interesting mix of hard-no, did-not-enjoy songs, and ones that were okay-verging-on-enjoyable. I thought it was well done though, even the ones I felt visceral dislike for - I think he achieved what he wanted to do, they weren't meant to make me feel comfortable.
I think enjoyed it, it was different. Unlike the previous album on this list, it had instruments and lyrics, but it was just as weird and avant garde. I would like to listen again, although I don't think it will become a favourite longer term.
