Van HalenIt just got worse the longer I listened. For an album that’s only 33 minutes long, it really dragged on.

Another commenter described this album as “the missing link between metal and dance” and I couldn’t disagree more. They’re clearly competent musicians but I can confidently say this is an album I will not willingly revisit.
Dire Straits sounds like what I expect Bruce Springsteen to sound like if I knew what Bruce Springsteen sounds like. Some familiar hits. Many songs went on long and could have cut at least 10 minutes off the entire length of the album.
Not what I was expecting from folk music. Not bad and can see why it’s widely appreciated.
A little overly self-indulgent at times with the oohhhs and aahhhhs but excellent debut from Led Zeppelin. Amazing how Jimmy Page’s guitar complements Robert Plant’s vocals and they almost mimic one another.
As someone who is unfamiliar with jazz, this was a pleasant, enjoyable listening experience. Talented trio of musicians and even more impressive being a live album. Hearing the audience in the background added an interesting element, almost feeling like you’re there too. Would definitely listen to again.
In the first 90 seconds of this album, I’m already sick of the singer’s droning voice but it does get a little better. There are some cool unexpected sounds to the music that make it interesting enough to keep listening. Didn’t find it groundbreaking, but not bad.
Not bad. I never really “got” the Beatles so this was a decent re-introduction even though the first song is garbage. I appreciate how much content is packed into 35 minutes. Is it wrong that I prefer Lennon’s and Harrison’s lead songs over McCartney’s?
30 seconds in and I hate it. The vocals against the music are dated. There is absolutely no need for the first song to be 20 minutes long. I’d like to think I’m open-minded about trying new things, but I had to give up listening at the 4th track. I can’t believe this album goes on for nearly 2 hours. I guess it could be tolerable if you plan to do drugs to it.
I respect the work here, but can’t say I really enjoyed it. I get the appeal, it’s just not for me.
Had no idea what to expect as I was unfamiliar with the Stranglers. I’ve never heard a band where the music is led more by the bass with the guitar being part of the rhythm. The keyboard player is the highlight for me while the drummer rounds it out nicely. No filler here and enjoyed the sense of humor throughout. I think I’ve found some new songs to add into my regular rotation.
Most of the guitar solos are excessive and songs drag on but definitely hear their influence in modern music. Not an album I would go out of my way to listen to.
Pretty mid. I had higher expectations for Prince.
It was alright. Better than the 2s that I’ve rated, so would give a 3.
Not bad but probably won’t revisit.
There’s a horse in the hospital!
RIP Ozzy
Weird and fun
Great album
Mid. Didn’t finish this album and don't feel like revisiting. Not the worst thing I’ve heard but also would not consider this album a “must hear.”
“Hello” is such a good song. “Send My Love” is garbage. Her talents make up for parts of the album that aren’t great or drag on.
Not bad. I recently listened to an album by Sparks and learned both bands have collaborated under the name FFS. Can definitely hear the influence of bands like Sparks and britpop in the weird but fun songs.
Not bad. Could have done without the last song on the album but overall it was alright.
Not my kind of music but what a great voice
Maybe not something I’d return to, other than the title track, but a good album.
I usually like this type of music but found it forgettable with a lot of filler.
Not bad with some familiar hits
Not bad. Didn’t realize that Janis Joplin was in a band. Some familiar songs here that I had no idea it was this group.

Reminds me of music from the Anchorman movies and I mean that as a compliment.
It was like listening to 45 minutes straight of Sharp Dressed Man but not as good.
“We Carry On” was the only highlight for me and to be followed by “Deep Water” was such a disappointment.
It sounds like a continuation of the same song. By the time it gets to Mr. Blue Sky, it makes an otherwise good song sound repetitive. It’s better than some of the twos I’ve rated though.
I’m a fan of Bowie but never gave this album a proper listen. The title track is some of his best work. The rest of the album has some really good songs with duds mixed in. A solid return to recording for Bowie, but I don’t know if this is a “must hear” album for the casual fan.
I was excited to give this a full listen already being a big fan of the title track and The Passenger. And I’ve got to say, those two songs were the highlights.
Is this what it feels like to be a neo-nazi who unironically misses the point of the music they like? Well, I’m not interested in shaving my head or purchasing a weapon after listening to this, so you can’t blame the music. While I certainly won’t revisit this album, I agree it belongs on this list.
Most of the album is pretty good but maybe that’s because I liked Bad more. Then it’s got Thriller, Beat It, and Billie Jean in a row.
