Popular Reviews

Tracy Chapman by Tracy Chapman

I'm not a secretary, and I approve this album. Her voice is smooth and soulful. Her lyrics are a gut punch.

Scott 4 by Scott Walker

Never heard of this dude. Great voice and orchestration. Boring, depressing songs. Listened before? N Saved to library? N Favorite track(s): N/A ⭐⭐: Didn't like it, didn't hate it. Saved no tracks.

Hail To the Thief by Radiohead

I just don't care for Radiohead. I can't get past York's voice. Listened before? N Saved to library? N Favorite track(s): N/A ⭐⭐: Didn't like it, didn't hate it. Saved no tracks.

Live And Dangerous by Thin Lizzy
Aug 08 2025

I don't know many of these songs and I'm not usually a fan of live albums. The guitar solos are decent. Sounds like they put on a fun show. Listened before? N Saved to library? N Favorite tracks: Massacre, Cowboy Song, Warrior

Aftermath by The Rolling Stones
Aug 08 2025

Oof. Listened to the US version and then the different tracks from the UK version. I can't get past the misogyny. But also meh. Take It Or Leave It? I will leave it. Listened before? N Saved to library? N Favorite tracks: Paint It, Black (US)

Bayou Country by Creedence Clearwater Revival
Aug 11 2025

I like some CCR, but apparently I can't lie on my bed to listen to them exclusively because I will fall asleep. Graveyard Train felt a lot longer than 8:37. Proud Mary definitely the highlight for me. Classic. Listened before? N Saved to library? N Favorite tracks: Born On The Bayou, Proud Mary, Keep On Chooglin'

Deep Purple In Rock by Deep Purple
Aug 12 2025

Great guitar solo in Child in Time. I like Into the Fire. Flight of the Rat is good. Listened before? N Saved to library? N Favorite track(s): Flight of the Rat, Into the Fire

Everybody Knows This Is Nowhere by Neil Young & Crazy Horse
Aug 13 2025

This is way too mellow for me. I just want it to be over. Listened before? N Saved to library? N Favorite track(s): If I had to choose one, I guess Cowgirl in the Sand

Tago Mago by Can
Aug 14 2025

Had to skip Paperhouse and Mushroom. I can't stand the whispering. Fun with misophonia! This was...weird. There were a few spots where I bopped my head along with the music. There were more spots where I was just confused. Am I being pranked? Overall, it was deeply unsettling. Listened before? N Saved to library? N Favorite track(s): I guess Oh Yeah wasn't horrible

Aug 17 2025

Now, this is more like it! Love me some Elton John, especially with Bernie Taupin's lyrics. I'll even excuse Jamaica Jerk-Off because I've Seen That Movie Too is so good. Listened before? Y Saved to library? Y Favorite track(s): Funeral For A Friend / Love Lies Bleeding, Bennie And The Jets, I've Seen That Movie Too, Saturday Night's Alright (For Fighting)

Aug 18 2025

Nice harmonies, but slow and repetitive is just not for me. So bored. At least I was able to do some yoga to it. Listened before? N Saved to library? N Favorite track(s): N/A

Aug 19 2025

This is awful. It sounds like someone is torturing a cat. Not looking forward to 3 more U2 albums. Listened before? N Saved to library? Absolutely not! Favorite track(s): N/A

More Specials by The Specials
Aug 20 2025

I like the horns. The vocals? Not so much. Listened before? N Saved to library? N Favorite track(s): Holiday Fortnight

White Ladder by David Gray
Aug 21 2025

I vaguely recall Babylon from my high school days. It definitely did not make it onto any of the mix CDs I burned (in between all the burn errors). Why is this on the list? So generic. So meh. I'm seeing a number of reviews that mention driving to this one, which I cannot grasp. I would fall asleep at the wheel. Listened before? N Saved to library? N Favorite track(s): N/A

Closer by Joy Division
Aug 22 2025

Aside from the first track, which sounded like a construction site or something, the music was good. I did not like the vocals at all. Listened before? N Saved to library? N Favorite track(s): N/A

Rock 'N Soul by Solomon Burke
Aug 23 2025

Great voice with an impressive range. Kind of a bummer of an album, though. 2.5 stars. I didn't hate it, but the criterion I've been going by is how many tracks I saved in my library, and I saved none. Listened before? N Saved to library? N Favorite track(s): N/A

In The Wee Small Hours by Frank Sinatra
Aug 24 2025

Frank sure could sing, but these songs are all soooo slow and depressing. If this is the first concept album, I'm kind of amazed that there were others. It's the same song over and over... I'll Be Around, in particular, is giving me the ick. She said no, dude. Listened before? N Saved to library? N Favorite track(s): N/A My ratings are kind of based on general vibes and how many tracks I save to my Deezer profile -- ⭐⭐: Didn't like it, didn't hate it. Saved no tracks.

Darkdancer by Les Rythmes Digitales
Aug 25 2025

I like the beats. This one made me want to move, though the vocals were pretty repetitive. Adding Mdc vendredi to my upbeat instrumentals playlist for doing deep work and Sometimes to my Deezer favorites. Apparently he worked with Scissor Sisters on Night Work and Magic Hour, so he gets bonus points from me for that. Listened before? N Saved to library? N Favorite track(s): Sometimes, Mdc vendredi, Hey you what's that sound? My ratings are kind of based on general vibes and how many tracks I save to my Deezer profile -- ⭐⭐⭐: Liked it. Saved some tracks.

A Girl Called Dusty by Dusty Springfield
Aug 26 2025

What a fantastic vocal range on a bunch of fun tunes. Her singing is so expressive, and I liked the orchestral backing. This made me nostalgic for my high school choir days, so I enjoyed it. Saved a few songs to my brass playlist and a bunch to my Deezer favorites. Listened before? N Saved to library? Y Favorite track(s): You Don't Own Me, Twenty-Four Hours From Tulsa, Don't You Know My ratings are kind of based on general vibes and how many tracks I save to my Deezer profile -- ⭐⭐⭐⭐: Really liked it. Saved a bunch of tracks.

Talking Book by Stevie Wonder
Aug 27 2025

I like it when Stevie gets funky. And Ray Parker Jr. on guitar for Maybe Your Baby? Yes, please! Unfortunately, many of the songs here are quite cheesy and forgettable. Listened before? N Saved to library? N Favorite track(s): Maybe Your Baby, Superstition My ratings are kind of based on general vibes and how many tracks I save to my Deezer profile -- ⭐⭐⭐: Liked it. Saved some tracks.

Aug 28 2025

I don't typically like albums, and this is no exception. The screaming is so obnoxious. Ugh. Definitely did not need a track over 10 minutes *encouraging* the screams. Meh. Please Please Please make it stop. Listened before? N Saved to library? N Favorite track(s): N/A My ratings are kind of based on general vibes and how many tracks I save to my Deezer profile -- ⭐: Hated it.

Axis: Bold As Love by Jimi Hendrix
Aug 29 2025

I liked this the first time I listened. Immediately played it again and realized, no, I actually loved it. Just wow. Listened before? N Saved to library? Y Favorite track(s): Spanish Castle Magic, Little Wing, If 6 Was 9, Castles Made of Sand, One Rainy Wish ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐: Loved it! Saved most or all of the tracks.

Nevermind by Nirvana
Aug 30 2025

It rocks, but I just can't with the screaming. Could not finish Endless, Nameless. Listened before? N Saved to library? N Favorite track(s): Smells Like Teen Spirit, Lithium ⭐⭐: Didn't like it, didn't hate it. Saved no tracks.

Tapestry by Carole King
Aug 31 2025

First off, I'm obviously giving bonus points for the cat on the cover. Additional bonus points because I love Gilmore Girls. But this doesn't even need any bonus points because it's such a fantastic album already. The piano. Her voice. Wow. I immediately listened to the whole thing again. Listened before? N Saved to library? Y Favorite track(s): I Feel the Earth Move, It's Too Late, Where You Lead, Smackwater Jack My ratings are kind of based on general vibes and how many tracks I save to my Deezer profile -- ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐: Loved it! Saved most or all of the tracks.

Cut by The Slits
Sep 01 2025

This is not my genre. Listened before? N Saved to library? N Favorite track(s): N/A My ratings are kind of based on general vibes and how many tracks I save to my Deezer profile -- ⭐⭐: Didn't like it, didn't hate it. Saved no tracks.

Cheap Thrills by Big Brother & The Holding Company
Sep 02 2025

I was today years old when I learned that Janis Joplin fronted a group before going solo. This version of the album wasn't on Deezer, so I had to listen on YouTube instead. I don't like actual live albums so not sure that adding effects to make it sound like one was necessary. I would probably dislike this album if not for Janis. Such a unique and powerful voice. Listened before? N Saved to library? N Favorite track(s): Summertime, Piece of My Heart My ratings are kind of based on general vibes and how many tracks I save to my Deezer profile -- ⭐⭐⭐: Liked it. Saved some tracks.

Exodus by Bob Marley & The Wailers
Sep 03 2025

Not a big fan of reggae, but this is a good one. Listened before? N Saved to library? N Favorite track(s): Exodus, Jamming, Waiting In Vain, One Love / People Get Ready My ratings are kind of based on general vibes and how many tracks I save to my Deezer profile -- ⭐⭐⭐: Liked it. Saved some tracks.

Parachutes by Coldplay
Sep 04 2025

Almost 20 years ago today, I knew one Coldplay song (Yellow), but from an a cappella cover, when some friends had an extra ticket to a show and invited me along. Chris Martin fucked up the words to one of the songs (I think Clocks or The Scientist) and made them start over from the beginning so we'd get our money's worth. I became an instant fan. I think I still have this CD, even though I don't actually have a CD player. Listened before? Y Saved to library? Y Favorite track(s): Don't Panic, Shiver, Yellow, Trouble, Everything's Not Lost ⭐⭐⭐⭐: Really liked it. Saved a bunch of tracks.

Third by Soft Machine
Sep 05 2025

Oh, no. No, thank you. Listened before? N Saved to library? N Favorite track(s): N/A ⭐: Hated it.

Disintegration by The Cure
Sep 06 2025

This is fine. It's not for me. Listened before? N Saved to library? N Favorite track(s): N/A My ratings are kind of based on general vibes and how many tracks I save to my Deezer profile -- ⭐⭐: Didn't like it, didn't hate it. Saved no tracks.

Led Zeppelin II by Led Zeppelin
Sep 07 2025

Really glad I listened with earbuds. +10 points for the LOTR reference. Listened before? N Saved to library? N Favorite track(s): What Is and What Should Never Be, The Lemon Song, Heartbreaker, Ramble On ⭐⭐⭐: Liked it. Saved some tracks.

Iron Maiden by Iron Maiden
Sep 08 2025

I expected to hate this because metal is so not my genre, but wow, it rocks. Some great guitar parts, and not terribly screamy. Listened before? N Saved to library? N Favorite track(s): Prowler, Running Free, Phantom of the Opera ⭐⭐⭐: Liked it. Saved some tracks.

Get Behind Me Satan by The White Stripes
Sep 09 2025

The transition from Blue Orchid to The Nurse was weird. I thought my phone suddenly started playing media from somewhere else. In general, this was fine. Listened before? N Saved to library? N Favorite track(s): My Doorbell; Little Ghost; The Denial Twist; Take, Take, Take ⭐⭐⭐: Liked it. Saved some tracks.

Sep 10 2025

Forgettable. 🤷‍♀️ Listened before? N Saved to library? N Favorite track(s): N/A ⭐⭐: Didn't like it, didn't hate it. Saved no tracks.

Live At The Star Club, Hamburg by Jerry Lee Lewis
Sep 11 2025

This racist creep really hammered the shit out of that piano. But...racist creep. Listened before? N Saved to library? N Favorite track(s): N/A ⭐: Hated it.

The Gilded Palace Of Sin by The Flying Burrito Brothers
Sep 12 2025

Oh, I know Christine's Tune! I think it was in the True Blood soundtrack? Anyway, I like that one but the rest are so slow. Listened before? N Saved to library? N Favorite track(s): Christine's Tune ⭐⭐: Didn't like it, didn't hate it. Saved one track.

Endtroducing..... by DJ Shadow
Sep 13 2025

I quite like Girl Talk and Milkman, so it's not that this is all just samples. It's just background noise. Listened before? N Saved to library? N Favorite track(s): N/A ⭐⭐: Didn't like it, didn't hate it. Saved no tracks.

Stand! by Sly & The Family Stone
Sep 14 2025

I've got a long day ahead of me. What a great way to start it off! Love the funk. There's even an instrumental song for my deep work playlist. Listened before? N Saved to library? N Favorite track(s): I Want to Take You Higher, Sing a Simple Song, Everyday People, Sex Machine ⭐⭐⭐⭐: Really liked it. Saved a bunch of tracks.

Goodbye And Hello by Tim Buckley
Sep 15 2025

Great voice. Listened before? N Saved to library? N Favorite track(s): Pleasant Street, I Never Asked to Be Your Mountain, Goodbye and Hello ⭐⭐⭐: Liked it.

Sep 16 2025

I listened to the expanded edition. I do love me some Celtic rock, and I like how they mixed in a little world music with it. Was slightly confused when I got to a Christmas song, but it worked. Listened before? N Saved to library? Y Favorite track(s): Turkish Song of the Damned, Fiesta, Sit Down by the Fire ⭐⭐⭐⭐: Really liked it. Saved a bunch of tracks and even added a few to my instrumental playlist for work.

Brutal Youth by Elvis Costello
Sep 17 2025

I've not really listened to Elvis Costello, though I do know This Is Hell from an episode of Gilmore Girls. I like the instrument parts and some of the lyrics, but his voice is so off-putting. And there are 5 more of these on the list? Why? Just About Glad this one is almost over. Listened before? N Saved to library? N Favorite track(s): This Is Hell ⭐⭐: Didn't like it, didn't hate it. Saved no tracks.

Funeral by Arcade Fire
Sep 18 2025

I forgot Arcade Fire existed. That probably says it all. In the Backseat is particularly awful and I couldn't finish it. Listened before? Y Saved to library? N Favorite track(s): Wake Up, Rebellion ⭐⭐: Didn't like it, didn't hate it. Saved no tracks.

Exile On Main Street by The Rolling Stones
Sep 19 2025

It's fine background music. Listened before? N Saved to library? N Favorite track(s): Casino Boogie, Happy ⭐⭐⭐: Liked it. Saved some tracks.

At San Quentin by Johnny Cash
Sep 20 2025

This is my first Johnny Cash album for this project. I generally prefer studio albums to live ones, but he sure did have a stage presence. Censorship is lame, though. Peace in the Valley made me cry. I got to thinking about my late Papa. He loved him some old country music. Listened before? N Saved to library? N Favorite track(s): San Quentin, A Boy Named Sue, Folsom Prison Blues ⭐⭐⭐: Liked it.

Let It Bleed by The Rolling Stones
Sep 21 2025

Best Rolling Stones album I've had thus far. That's kind of a low bar. You Can't Always Get What You Want is a classic, though. Listened before? N Saved to library? N Favorite track(s): Gimme Shelter, Midnight Rambler, You Can't Always Get What You Want ⭐⭐⭐: Liked it. Saved some tracks.

Third/Sister Lovers by Big Star
Sep 22 2025

Super confused about all the different versions of this album. Third (Ardent Music, 2016) is what is on Deezer, so that's what I'm listening to. 18 tracks, total length 00:51:40. I like the strings and drums. The wailing vocals on these slow songs are killing me, though. Listened before? N Saved to library? N Favorite track(s): Thank You Friends, You Can't Have Me ⭐⭐: Didn't like it, didn't hate it. Saved no tracks.

Rio by Duran Duran
Sep 23 2025

Much '80s! So wow! I was previously familiar with Rio and Hungry Like the Wolf, but I have not heard the whole album. I'm loving the bass! And the drums and synth! Fantastic. Listened before? N Saved to library? Y Favorite track(s): Rio, My Own Way, Last Chance on the Stairway, The Chauffeur ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐: Loved it! Saved most or all of the tracks.

Sep 24 2025

Low expectations for my first Bob Dylan album on the list. I've never been able to get past his voice. I might be converted. There are some great songs on here. On my second listen, it's definitely growing on me. Great lyrics. Listened before? N Saved to library? N Favorite track(s): Subterranean Homesick Blues, Bob Dylan's 115th Dream, It's Alright, Ma (I'm Only Bleeding) ⭐⭐⭐: Liked it. Saved some tracks.

Hybrid Theory by Linkin Park
Sep 25 2025

I've been playing the new Twenty One Pilots album, Breach, on repeat since it came out. I wish I were listening to that instead of this. Hybrid Theory was released when I was in high school. It's been a while since I've listened to Linkin Park. For good reason. So repetitive. Meh. Listened before? Y Saved to library? N Favorite track(s): N/A ⭐⭐: Didn't like it, didn't hate it. Saved no tracks.

Sep 26 2025

Not familiar with Klaxons. Well, this is definitely is not helping my headache. The more I listen, the more I hate it. Yet another band I'll have to instruct Deezer not to recommend... Listened before? N Saved to library? N Favorite track(s): N/A ⭐: Hated it.

Odelay by Beck
Sep 27 2025

I've not listened to the full album before. It's so very Beck. I love Where It's At, and I like a lot of the less experimental tracks. Listened before? N Saved to library? N Favorite track(s): Devil's Haircut, Hotwax, The New Pollution, Where It's At ⭐⭐⭐⭐: Really liked it. Saved a bunch of tracks.

The Modern Lovers by The Modern Lovers
Sep 28 2025

I like the music, but I hate the vocals and lyrics. Listened before? N Saved to library? N Favorite track(s): N/A ⭐: Hated it.

Penance Soiree by The Icarus Line
Sep 29 2025

Sometimes my assigned album is a nice way to start the day. This is not one of those days. I just hear noise. Seriously, what are the criteria for this list? Well, I definitely did not expect that saxophone. Huh. Listened before? N Saved to library? N Favorite track(s): N/A ⭐⭐: Didn't like it, didn't hate it. Saved no tracks.

The Cars by The Cars
Sep 30 2025

This is fantastic. The drums, the synth, the guitar, the Queen-like harmonies. The use of the left/right channels on Moving in Stereo. Immediately listening again. Listened before? N Saved to library? Y Favorite track(s): Good Times Roll, Just What I Needed, Don't Cha Stop ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐: Loved it! Saved most or all of the tracks.

Bluesbreakers by John Mayall & The Bluesbreakers
Oct 01 2025

Little Girl is cringe. Eww. And now I'm bored. I did clean my toilet, so at least this wasn't a complete waste of time. Listened before? N Saved to library? N Favorite track(s): N/A ⭐⭐: Didn't like it, didn't hate it. Saved no tracks.

Oct 02 2025

It's fine, but it's not really for me. This project is showing me how much my enjoyment of an album hinges on the vocals. These, I do not care for. 😬 Listened before? N Saved to library? N Favorite track(s): N/A ⭐⭐: Didn't like it, didn't hate it. Saved no tracks.

All Hail the Queen by Queen Latifah
Oct 03 2025

Over 50 albums in and this is only my third by a female artist. That's some BS. Repetitive, but I liked a few tracks. Impressive for a debut album at 19. Listened before? N Saved to library? N Favorite track(s): Come into My House, Latifah's Law, Ladies First ⭐⭐⭐: Liked it. Saved some tracks.

Punk is just not my genre. The half-singing is too grating and every song sounds the same to me. Listened before? N Saved to library? N Favorite track(s): N/A ⭐⭐: Didn't like it, didn't hate it. Saved no tracks.

Here's Little Richard by Little Richard
Oct 05 2025

I thought he sang "I think I smell alright." 😂 Anyway, this was fine. I saved a couple of songs. Listened before? N Saved to library? N Favorite track(s): Fell In Love With a Girl, We're Going to Be Friends ⭐⭐⭐: Liked it. Saved some tracks.

Doolittle by Pixies
Oct 07 2025

I like the bass. Not so much the screamy vocals. I can respect that it was influential, but it's not really for me. Listened before? N Saved to library? N Favorite track(s): Here Comes Your Man ⭐⭐: Didn't like it, didn't hate it. Saved no tracks.

Harvest by Neil Young
Oct 08 2025

Astral Weeks by Van Morrison
Oct 09 2025

Not familiar with any Van Morrison songs other than Brown Eyed Girl going into this album. The arrangements are lovely and dynamic. The strings are fantastic. I love a harpsichord as long as I don't have to help move it. Oooh, unexpected horns! Nice. Listened before? N Saved to library? N Favorite track(s): Astral Weeks, Cyprus Avenue, The Way Young Lovers Do ⭐⭐⭐: Liked it. Saved some tracks.

Rust Never Sleeps by Neil Young & Crazy Horse
Oct 10 2025

A second Neil Young album in a week? You're killing me, Smalls. Or his voice is. Or the boredom. Please stop. Listened before? N Saved to library? N Favorite track(s): N/A ⭐⭐: Didn't like it, didn't hate it. Saved no tracks.

Kind Of Blue by Miles Davis
Oct 11 2025

Quite entertaining. I tapped my toes and even lol'd. Listened before? N Saved to library? N Favorite track(s): The Lip; Jump, Jive, An' Wail; Buona Sera; (I'll Be Glad When You're Dead) You Rascal You; Whistle Stop ⭐⭐⭐⭐: Really liked it. Saved a bunch of tracks.

Oct 15 2025

I was not familiar with Cornershop, so had no idea what to expect going into this. It was definitely interesting. Some tracks I quite liked. Others were...confusing. Why are we talking about canned goods? Anyway, I want potatoes now. Listened before? N Saved to library? N Favorite track(s): We're in Yr Corner, Funky Days Are Back Again, Good Shit, Candyman ⭐⭐⭐: Liked it. Saved some tracks.

Porcupine by Echo And The Bunnymen
Oct 16 2025

The unexpected marimba was interesting, but the vocals are unpleasant. Never heard of Echo and the Bunnymen before, and I can't say this has me looking forward to more. Listened before? N Saved to library? N Favorite track(s): N/A ⭐⭐: Didn't like it, didn't hate it. Saved no tracks.

The Madcap Laughs by Syd Barrett
Oct 17 2025

Oof. This was mostly a rough listen. Listened before? N Saved to library? N Favorite track(s): Here I Go, Octopus ⭐⭐: Didn't like it, didn't hate it. Saved no tracks.

Achtung Baby by U2
Oct 18 2025

Ugh, more wailing from Bono. "Is it getting better?" Hard no. "Baby, baby, baby, light my way." Real poetic shit. Listened before? N Saved to library? N Favorite track(s): N/A ⭐: Hated it.

Urban Hymns by The Verve
Oct 19 2025

Love the strings on Bitter Sweet Symphony. Otherwise, way too long and sounds an awful lot like U2 (not a good thing). +1 star for not actually being U2. Listened before? N Saved to library? N Favorite track(s): Bitter Sweet Symphony ⭐⭐: Didn't like it, didn't hate it. Saved no tracks.

Songs Of Leonard Cohen by Leonard Cohen
Oct 20 2025

Beautiful songs and storytelling. Vibes are just way too mellow for me. Listened before? N Saved to library? N Favorite track(s): N/A ⭐⭐⭐: S'alright. Saved no tracks.

The Band by The Band
Oct 21 2025

Funky Americana honky-tonk vibes. A few great tracks. Is it just me, or does Levon Helm's voice sound kind of like Cleveland Brown? Listened before? N Saved to library? N Favorite track(s): Across The Great Divide, Rag Mama Rag, Up On Cripple Creek, Jemima Surrender, Look Out Cleveland ⭐⭐⭐⭐: Really liked it. Saved a bunch of tracks.

Oct 22 2025

Interesting cover art. I don't understand it, but it's certainly unique. Phil Collins sure could drum. Lyrics in The Chamber of 32 Doors resonate for sure. "I'd rather trust a man who works with his hands." The Waiting Room is kind of giving Twin Peaks vibes. Haunting. Overall, there's some good songs with a lot of (weird) filler. Could have been shorter. Listened before? N Saved to library? N Favorite track(s): In The Cage, Counting Out Time (😳), Lilywhite Lilith, Anyway, The Colony of Slippermen ⭐⭐⭐: Liked it. Saved some tracks.

Justified by Justin Timberlake

I like the strings on Take It From Here. Lyrics are meh when they're not cringe. An hour of this is too long. If You Can Believe Your Eyes & Ears by The Mamas & The Papas
Jan 13 2026

I'm a proofreader so I immediately hate the cover. Apostrophes do not make plurals. Otherwise, an appropriate assignment on a Monday. Lovely harmonies and harpsichord. Songs did fade into the background a bit, aside from California Dreamin'.

Jan 14 2026

Okay, when I said in a recent review for Q-Tip that I wanted to discover more good hip-hop...this is not what I meant. Am I being pranked?

Feb 11 2026

The steel guitar and strings are pretty great, as are the vocals. Probably let that tiger go, though.

What's Going On by Marvin Gaye
Feb 12 2026

An appropriate assignment during Black History Month, especially since I recently finished reading Kristin Hannah's "The Women" about Vietnam War combat nurses in which references to music including Gaye, The Beatles, and Hendrix really help set the scene. Definitely deserves its spot on a list of albums to hear at least once before you die. Fantastic instrumentation and smooth, soulful vocals. Powerful, meaningful lyrics. Still highly relevant, unfortunately.

This album is a downer but it's so beautiful. Love the strings, the iconic vocals. The lyrics for Ignoreland. I mean, Man on the Moon. The piano and strings on Nightswimming. Um, hello, oboe.

Unknown Pleasures by Joy Division
Feb 15 2026

Where will it end? No, really. Vocals are so awful. Am I being pranked? I give up.

Remain In Light by Talking Heads
Feb 17 2026

Weird, but that's some great bass.

School's Out by Alice Cooper
Feb 18 2026

This surprised me. I was familiar with the title track, of course, but I did not expect West Side Story or jazz from Alice Cooper.

Face to Face by The Kinks
Feb 19 2026

It's fine but not memorable.

Teen Dream by Beach House
Feb 20 2026

So boring. I don't know what dream pop is, but pretty sure it's not for me. I gave up and listened to Breach by Twenty One Pilots again instead.

Actually by Pet Shop Boys
Feb 23 2026

I hate the word "actually." My fellow Ashleys get it. This, I rather like, though. So '80s, so catchy. The unexpected Dusty Springfield.

Hunky Dory by David Bowie
Feb 24 2026

Worth a listen just for Changes and Life on Mars. Fun little piano parts, especially in Fill Your Heart.

Heroes to Zeros by The Beta Band
Feb 25 2026

Did I like it? More or less. There were some interesting bits, though it was all over the place. Easy was fun, but Wonderful was a skip. Bonus points for being Scottish.

The Beach Boys Today! by The Beach Boys
Feb 26 2026

All Beach Boys songs sound the same to me. Now that I actually pay attention to the lyrics...ick. At least it was short?

Fisherman's Blues by The Waterboys
Feb 27 2026

I listened to the original 13 tracks only. I like the violin, trumpet, accordion, and vocals. World Party is excellent.

Stankonia by OutKast
Feb 28 2026

Some great bits but way too long. Enough with the interlude skits.

Live! by Fela Kuti
Mar 01 2026

I'm not usually one for live albums or overly long instrumentals, but hot damn! The horns! The drums! Prompted me to start a 1001 Albums Bangers playlist just so I could kick it off with Ye Ye De Smell.

Here Are the Sonics by The Sonics
Mar 02 2026

So much unnecessary screaming. I did not need The Sonics Here.

Bookends by Simon & Garfunkel
Mar 03 2026

Way too mellow for me. Had to skip Voices of Old People.

Mar 04 2026

I don't hate this because it's country. I hate it because of the awful misogynist lyrics. Go to therapy, dude.

Dare! by The Human League
Mar 05 2026

Listened to each song for as long as I could stand the vocals. Never got through a whole track...

Imagine by John Lennon
Mar 06 2026

I had a lot of feelings.

All Things Must Pass by George Harrison
Mar 07 2026

Heckin' long, but nary a skip and a few bangers. I'd listen again (if I had time).

1977 by Ash
Mar 08 2026

Started off pretty strong until the vocals came in, and then I was out.

...The Dandy Warhols Come Down by The Dandy Warhols
Mar 09 2026

The only Dandy Warhols song I previously knew was the opening theme from Veronica Mars. They recorded part of this album in the lead singer's apartment...bet his neighbors loved that. Had to misophonia skip the one with heavy breathing. NOPE. Aside from that and the one about heroin, this was forgettable.

90 by 808 State
Mar 11 2026

Obnoxious.

The Coral by The Coral
Mar 12 2026

Some cool bits here and there, but overall forgettable.

Coles Corner by Richard Hawley
Mar 13 2026

Got a few songs in before I noticed this was from 2005, and I was shocked. Quite mellow which isn't my usual taste, but the arrangements are so lovely. The overabundance of bad vocals in these albums is really making me appreciate the nice ones more, and these are gorgeous. I do love a good baritone.

3 Feet High and Rising by De La Soul
Mar 14 2026

I grooved to most of this except the whispering track I had to skip because misophonia and the unnecessary De La Orgee. Some great samples. Been a while since my high school French, but I think there was something about lunch? Appropriate as I listened on my lunch break. I'll listen (to most of it) again.

Konnichiwa by Skepta
Mar 15 2026

The beats and backing are kind of interesting. The lyrics are not. I did not need to listen to this before I die, fam.

Mar 16 2026

I hate the vocals but appreciate the sentiments and the creativity and the bass. It's just so long and scattered. I'm fucking overwhelmed. I'm 25 tracks in and I give up.

Is This It by The Strokes
Mar 17 2026

Some of these tracks ring a bell. I think I'd like it more without the vocal effects.

Everything Must Go by Manic Street Preachers
Mar 18 2026

Can't understand most of the lyrics, but I like the sound. I did not expect a harp. I'll listen to this again.

Forever Changes by Love
Mar 19 2026

Ugh, the singing and lyrics. Taking a breath in the middle of a sustained word? Hate it. And snot? Eww. Nobody needs to hear about that except maybe your ENT.

Da Capo by Love
Mar 20 2026

Are you freaking kidding me? I didn't like Forever Changes yesterday, so of course I get another Love album today. FML. I bailed during the final track. Unnecessary. I'm starting to wonder how much better this list would be if it had been limited to one album per artist.

Tidal by Fiona Apple
Mar 21 2026

I like her voice and the songs are pretty, but they're too mellow and boring for me.

Let Love Rule by Lenny Kravitz
Mar 22 2026

Impressive for a debut album he mostly did himself. I could do without all the religious stuff, but the grooves were good.

Slayed? by Slade
Mar 23 2026

Was it excruciating? No. Was it interesting or memorable? Also no. And the misspelling is annoying. And that haircut...

C'est Chic by CHIC
Mar 24 2026

Great instrumentation, singing, and production. Especially love the strings and horns. But the lyrics are too repetitive and the songs could be shorter.

Fear Of Music by Talking Heads
Mar 25 2026

First half was pretty good, but then I zoned out.

Nick Of Time by Bonnie Raitt
Mar 26 2026

Generic, but at least she can sing.

Mar 28 2026

This could have been one fantastic album instead of two albums with some bangers and lots of filler.

The Specials by The Specials
Mar 29 2026

One glance at the cover photo and I knew it would be ska. I can't get past the vocals. Gave up.

Mott by Mott The Hoople
Mar 30 2026

I was into it until the singing started. Now my eye keeps twitching...

Dire Straits by Dire Straits
Mar 31 2026

Pleasantly surprised after having rated Brothers In Arms 2 stars for being boring. I'd listen to this again.

Highway 61 Revisited by Bob Dylan
Apr 01 2026

I don't get why there's so much Bob Dylan in this list. I thought I had already listened to this, but it was a different one. Same bad singing and obnoxious shrill harmonica.

The Undertones by The Undertones
Apr 02 2026

Meh. So repetitive. At least it was short.

Clandestino by Manu Chao
Apr 03 2026

Interesting. I think this is the most multilingual album I've been assigned. It's chill but I kinda like it.

Africa Brasil by Jorge Ben Jor
Apr 04 2026

This was fun, but I found the cuíca pretty distracting/annoying. It sounds like someone squeaking a plastic straw in their cup.

Run-D.M.C. by Run-D.M.C.
Apr 05 2026

Well, these were definitely all Run-D.M.C. songs. You can tell because they all sound exactly the same.

Made In Japan by Deep Purple
Apr 06 2026

There are no live albums I truly need to hear before I die. Parts of this were okay. There were also some unnecessary shrill sounds, both vocals and on guitar, that I could do without. That last track would be the point in the concert where I would go to the bathroom. If that was an encore, I'd be annoyed.

Tommy by The Who
Apr 08 2026

Twenty or so years ago, some friends made me watch the movie. I don't think I was on the right drugs to appreciate it. Pinball Wizard is a banger, though, and there are a few others. Doubt I'll seek out the whole album again.

Chore of Enchantment by Giant Sand
Apr 09 2026

Bailed on track 4 after the 3rd time I realized I was making a stink face.

Tracy Chapman by Tracy Chapman
Apr 11 2026

I'm not a secretary, and I approve this album. Her voice is smooth and soulful. Her lyrics are a gut punch.

Medúlla by Björk
Apr 12 2026

It's very Björk. I kind of liked Who Is It and Triumph of a Heart.

Franz Ferdinand by Franz Ferdinand
Apr 13 2026

Pretty sure I still have this one on CD somewhere, but it's been a while since I've listened to the whole thing straight through. Love it. That transition in Take Me Out is so perfectly executed. 🧑‍🍳💋

Tusk by Fleetwood Mac
Apr 14 2026

This was kind of unhinged, but I didn't hate it. Saved a few bangers. Might listen again.

Rejoicing In The Hands by Devendra Banhart
Apr 15 2026

Noped on out of this one after skipping through the first three or four boring songs. Meh.

Giant Steps by The Boo Radleys
Apr 16 2026

A few unpleasant noises, but generally I like it. Could have been shorter.

Let's Get It On by Marvin Gaye
Apr 17 2026

Great title track followed by a bunch of forgettable filler. 🤷‍♀️

Apr 18 2026

The interludes are annoying. Doo Wop is decent. She has a good voice but I'm bored. Now for some reason I need to go listen to Fake Patois by Das Racist...

At Folsom Prison by Johnny Cash
Apr 21 2026

Already had At San Quentin. Two live albums recorded in prisons were not at all necessary. His voice seems pretty strained here. Violence against women, murder, cruelty to animals. I'm out.

Blood On The Tracks by Bob Dylan
Apr 22 2026

Stop trying to make Bob Dylan happen. It's not going to happen!

Aja by Steely Dan
Apr 23 2026

Not particularly exciting, but well played and produced.

Electric Prunes by The Electric Prunes
Apr 24 2026

Was this included as a joke? It has to be. The Toonerville Trolley was atrocious.

Ready To Die by The Notorious B.I.G.
Apr 25 2026

Got halfway through before I couldn't take any more.

Gasoline Alley by Rod Stewart
Apr 26 2026

Decent background but probably not something I'd seek out again.

Apr 27 2026

Iconic cover art. Even though the songs are too slow for my taste, it's absolutely an album worth hearing before I die.

Dear Science by TV On The Radio
Apr 29 2026

Meh. Nothing here grabbed me, and the sound was all over the place.

Entertainment by Gang Of Four
Apr 30 2026

Okay...except for the singing. I think there's probably not any punk on this list that I'm actually going to like. Womp womp.

Suede by Suede
May 01 2026

Nope. I'm done with the wailing British dudes.

Back To Black by Amy Winehouse
May 02 2026

It's rare that I immediately get excited about my album of the day. Today is one of those days but also bittersweet. It's been a while since I've listened to this one all the way through. Damn, I love her voice. Throw in Mark Ronson and the Dap-Kings on top of that? So good. Listened twice.

Blackstar by David Bowie
May 03 2026

There are some Bowie songs I like, and Ziggy Stardust is pretty good, but most of it just is not for me. I can listen to it, but I'd prefer something else. This album in particular was quite unsettling.

Highly Evolved by The Vines
May 04 2026

I like the cover art. Unfortunately it does not seem to go with what I'm hearing. I hit skip when it gets screamy. Then I noped out altogether.

Blonde On Blonde by Bob Dylan
May 05 2026

So much shrill harmonica. So much bad singing. I'm out.

May 06 2026

Wow, so raw. Definitely glad I listened, though I could do without the screaming. And the last track. I thought the walrus was Paul?

Duck Rock by Malcolm McLaren
May 08 2026

The radio shit is obnoxious. Calling women "females" is dehumanizing.

Vol. 4 by Black Sabbath
May 09 2026

What a pleasant surprise! I listened twice in a row while doing some cleaning. Excellent riffs and some lovely little moments I did not expect.

Safe As Milk by Captain Beefheart & His Magic Band
May 10 2026

This list tends to lose me at anything labeled "experimental," but this was surprisingly listenable. Definitely weird AF, but in an interesting way rather than obnoxious. It's pretty long, though.

At Newport 1960 by Muddy Waters
May 11 2026

Taking off one star for the live recording and one for I Got My Brand On You. Women are not livestock, sir.

Hot Fuss by The Killers
May 12 2026

I know and like Mr. Brightside, Somebody Told Me, and All These Things That I've Done already. I don't listen to the radio so didn't get as sick of the singles as some folks seem to have. Solid debut album but some problematic lyrics. Probably won't seek it out as a whole, but I could listen if it's on and I did heart some tracks.

May 13 2026

I'm pleasantly surprised on this one. Usually not into downtempo, but the vocals, lyrics, and orchestration more than made up for it. Will listen again.

Liquid Swords by GZA
May 14 2026

It was mostly fine. Some good lyrics. I strongly dislike most lo-fi for misophonia reasons. Nothing really jumped out at me to add to my regular shuffle.

A Walk Across The Rooftops by The Blue Nile
May 15 2026

So '80s. What does the synth on From Rags to Riches remind me of? Interesting listen. A few good tracks going in my regular shuffle. Bonus points for being Scottish.

Head Hunters by Herbie Hancock
May 16 2026

Hot damn! Had me at that opening funky groove.

The Hissing Of Summer Lawns by Joni Mitchell
May 17 2026

I tend to find singer/songwriters fairly boring. This one was less so, but probably not something I'll return to. There were some interesting/weird bits, so I guess it was worth the listen once. At least she has a good voice.

Sail Away by Randy Newman
May 20 2026

Fat man with and his kids and dog Drove in through the morning fog. Hey there, Rover. Come on over. Red headed lady reaching for an apple. Gonna take a bite -- nope, nope. She gonna breathe on it first, wipe it on her blouse. She takes a bite. Chews it once, twice, three times, four times. Stops! Saliva workin', takes a hard long look at Randy... Five times. Fat old husband walking over. Yeah, They're walking down the road Left foot, right foot Left foot, right foot Left foot -- Family Guy jokes aside, there's some good instrumentation here. I didn't realize Joe Cocker's You Can Leave Your Hat On was a cover.

The Blueprint by JAY Z
May 21 2026

I like some of the beats and the samples, but the lyrics are boring and pretty heavy on the misogyny.

Music by Madonna
May 22 2026

I like Madonna, but I would not tell anybody they need to listen to this electronica wallpaper before they die. At least the version on Deezer doesn't have the American Pie cover. I did have to misophonia skip some tracks with whispering, though. NOPE!

Morrison Hotel by The Doors
May 23 2026

Enjoyable blues rock. Added a few tracks to my 1001 albums bangers playlist.

Trio by Dolly Parton
May 24 2026

Dolly Parton is a national treasure! I've been waiting 287 days but finally got assigned one of her albums. With bonus Linda Ronstadt and Emmylou Harris. I don't even care if the songs are slow. The vocals are outstanding, lots of lovely strings, and I am here for this.

Red Dirt Girl by Emmylou Harris
May 25 2026

Pretty vocals. Extremely boring songs.

May 27 2026

Deezer informs me that Public Enemy has a show with Guns N' Roses at Carter-Finley Stadium (home of NC State Wolfpack football) this summer. Interesting. Good beats, good lyrics, good commentary. Little bit of misogyny but not nearly as bad as some hip-hop albums I've been assigned. Bring Tha Noize was fun.

Black Monk Time by The Monks
May 28 2026

Definitely manic but not horrible. Interesting backstory.

I Against I by Bad Brains
May 29 2026

Punk is absolutely not my genre. Why does he say "re-ignition" like that? Nah, I'm done here.

Pretzel Logic by Steely Dan
May 30 2026

My review for Aja was "Not particularly exciting, but well played and produced." Same? Yup, same. Not rushing to turn it off, but would rather be listening to some Fleetwood Mac or Toto or Chicago or Hall & Oates...

Catch A Fire by Bob Marley & The Wailers
Jun 02 2026

Enjoyed this. I'd listen again.

Remedy by Basement Jaxx
Jun 03 2026

This is a compilation of annoying sounds. I can't.

Abraxas by Santana
Jun 04 2026

Fuck, yeah! This is #298 and might be my favorite so far. Listened twice. Will listen again. 🎸🪘💃🤘

Dig Me Out by Sleater-Kinney
Jun 05 2026

Where do I find 1001 Albums With Good Vocals? This won't be on there.

The Wall by Pink Floyd
Jun 06 2026

Absolutely belongs on this list. It's a whole experience listening with headphones. Comfortably Numb is fantastic.

good kid, m.A.A.d city by Kendrick Lamar
Jun 07 2026

Those bass lines, though. I keep getting distracted by them. Great storytelling too.

Tom Tom Club by Tom Tom Club
Jun 10 2026

This is weird and funky. I like it. Love the cover of Under the Boardwalk. I think I'm obsessed with Wordy Rappinghood.

Killing Joke by Killing Joke
Jun 11 2026

Not bad...when there were no vocals.

Treasure by Cocteau Twins
Jun 12 2026

Not a great start to my day. Can't believe I'm writing this, but I would rather be listening to Enya.

Surf's Up by The Beach Boys
Jun 13 2026

This was not what I was expecting when I saw Beach Boys. One of the songs was about feet? It was interesting, but I probably won't be listening again.

In Utero by Nirvana
Jun 14 2026

I tried. I just can't. Lost me at the screaming "rape me" over and over.

Club Classics Vol. One by Soul II Soul
Jun 15 2026

Background grooves with some nice instrumental bits. Could do without the guy singing, but the female vocals are good.

Come Away With Me by Norah Jones
Jun 16 2026

Beautiful but boring background ballads bereft of bops. B-

Doggystyle by Snoop Dogg
Jun 18 2026

Oh, Snoop. Why did you have to go and perform at that inauguration event? Massive disappointment. Now I'm going to have to rate you the way I will when I eventually get to Kid Rock. 1 star without listening.

Risque by CHIC
Jun 19 2026

Cool cover photo. I like the funk but it's sooooooo repetitive.

Green Onions by Booker T. & The MG's
Jun 20 2026

The title track was in my instrumental focus playlist for a while before I changed it up. I think that'll go back in now, with one or two additional tracks. The organ did get kind of old by the end.

The La's by The La's
Jun 21 2026

Meh. Forgettable except for the one obnoxious single. Enough with the Britpop already.

Junkyard by The Birthday Party
Jun 22 2026

The cover looks like art from a Dungeon Crawler Carl book, and Princess Donut doesn't look happy about it. Musically, I hate it.

Physical Graffiti by Led Zeppelin
Jun 23 2026

I know a handful of Led Zeppelin songs, Kashmir being my favorite, so I'm happy to see it on the track list for this one. It slaps. Nice start to a Monday. I could listen to this again and saved some tracks to playlists.

Buffalo Springfield Again by Buffalo Springfield
Jun 26 2026

I like the cover art. Some good songs but lots of filler. I like Bluebird and Hung Upside Down and Rock & Roll Woman. Huh. None of these are Young songs. 🤪 Broken Arrow gave me musical whiplash.

Grace by Jeff Buckley
Jun 27 2026

Started off a 3 but I think Hallelujah and Lover, You Should've Come Over and Eternal Life justify an extra star.

KIWANUKA by Michael Kiwanuka
Jun 28 2026

This is fantastic! Exactly why I persist in wading through all the shit on this list: to discover hidden gems like this.

Blue Lines by Massive Attack
Jun 29 2026

This is the background music in a pricey bar I want to leave. Is there a pub or beer garden nearby?

Marquee Moon by Television
Jun 30 2026

This could have been good if the vocals weren't so painful to listen to.

It's Too Late to Stop Now by Van Morrison
Jul 01 2026

Pretty good for a live album. The band was absolutely on fire and the recording was excellent for the time. But it's a live album and at least 30 minutes too long, so I'm unlikely to listen again.

The Chronic by Dr. Dre
Jul 02 2026

It's the misogyny. Hard pass.

Talking Heads 77 by Talking Heads
Jul 03 2026

I am here for that steel drum. Oooh, and a marimba! This was a fun, funky album and there are some bangers, but I did quite tired of the vocals by the end.

Can't Buy A Thrill by Steely Dan
Jul 04 2026

More Steely Dan?! For crying out loud. One was plenty.

Jazz Samba by Stan Getz
Jul 05 2026

I put this on while cleaning and forgot I was listening to it. Took me a bit to realize it had finished. So...

Miriam Makeba by Miriam Makeba
Jul 06 2026

No idea what she's singing about, but her voice is beautiful and dynamic.

Bad by Michael Jackson
Jul 07 2026

Nope.

Jul 08 2026

Aww, a floppy disk. I 'member. The music is fine background, but I was ready for it to be over by the end. Not something I'd seek out to really listen to. I did add a couple tracks to my upbeat instrumentals playlist.

Melody A.M. by Röyksopp
Jul 10 2026

Electronic music is not my genre, but I actually quite like this. Poor Leno, Röyksopp's Night Out. I'd listen again.

Hot Rats by Frank Zappa
Jul 12 2026

My first time listening to Frank Zappa. Wow! Fantastic musicianship. Will listen again.

Among The Living by Anthrax
Jul 13 2026

I made it through two whole songs. That's enough of that.

Bossanova by Pixies
Jul 14 2026

Better than Doolittle, and much better than Surfer Rosa. Still not something I'd listen to again.

Time (The Revelator) by Gillian Welch
Jul 15 2026

Bored right out of the gate. Gave up halfway through.

You Want It Darker by Leonard Cohen
Jul 16 2026

Hauntingly beautiful songs. I'm giving an extra point for the men's choir.

Boy In Da Corner by Dizzee Rascal
Jul 17 2026

Gave up on track 4. I saw that there was also an instrumental version on Deezer, but why would anybody even want that?

Juju by Siouxsie And The Banshees
Jul 18 2026

I enjoyed the beginning but got a little tired of it by the end. Added a few songs to my bangers playlist and a few to my Halloween mix.

Guero by Beck
Jul 19 2026

Hell, yes! This might be my favorite Beck album. Love the funky kinda-country grooves.

Something/Anything? by Todd Rundgren
Jul 20 2026

I like the cover. Crazy impressive that he played all of the instruments and did the vocals for most of this. Songs were mostly fine but nothing I would seek out again. Little Red Lights is a banger, though.

Wild Wood by Paul Weller
Jul 22 2026

If beige was a sound. I can't get past these absolutely generic lyrics.

Two Dancers by Wild Beasts
Jul 23 2026

I would like this as an instrumental album, but those vocals. That is some truly awful falsetto. Yikes.

Oxygène by Jean-Michel Jarre
Jul 24 2026

Cover art somewhat disturbing. Musically, this is what you hear when you call the front desk at the Great Northern Hotel in Twin Peaks and they put you on hold. While you wait, you look out the window and see a woman walking by carrying a log with which she appears to be having a conversation. You really need to get out of this place.

Fragile by Yes
Jul 25 2026

Interesting, especially the classical bits, but probably not something I'd listen to again. Wildly incohesive.

Getz/Gilberto by Stan Getz
Jul 26 2026

Boring. At least it's not experimental, but it's not my flavor. I like my jazz hot.

Electric Warrior by T. Rex
Jul 27 2026

It's fine. Not much variety to the songs, and lyrics were uninspired.

Boston by Boston
Jul 28 2026

I love me some arena rock. This is one hell of a debut album. All killer, no filler. Makes me miss Guitar Hero. 🤘🎸

Innervisions by Stevie Wonder
Jul 29 2026

Sir Duke this was not. I don't mind occasionally hearing some of his greatest hits, but a whole album? I just wanted this one to be over.

Jul 30 2026

I have better things to do with my time than listen to music that is homophobic and misogynistic and glorifies violence. 👋

Bubble And Scrape by Sebadoh
Jul 31 2026

Started off meh and then went downhill fast. I quit on the 4th song.

Parallel Lines by Blondie
Aug 01 2026

Listened twice, saved a few bangers. I'd listen again.

Night Life by Ray Price
Aug 02 2026

Initial thoughts: Oh, my god. Stop talking. Great voice and strings, but so samey, so sad. I'm cheering for the women out living their best lives.

Planet Rock: The Album by Afrika Bambaataa
Aug 05 2026

Every single track I heard felt too long by at least half. And then I read about the child sex abuse, so 1 star and I'm out. I guess I need to start searching reviews for "pedo" before I even start listening to a new artist. Seriously, why are there so many?

Aug 06 2026

Just had Fragile less than two weeks ago and I wasn't particularly impressed. Seeing that this is only 3 tracks and goes for almost 38 minutes, I am not excited... Yeah, I was right. There were some cool bits but they quickly disappeared as the track meandered on. It's like being at a potluck dinner where the person who brought the mac & cheese didn't bring nearly enough. My plate has a bunch of random stuff on it but only one small spoonful of mac & cheese.

Aug 07 2026

I'm not usually bothered by songs being overplayed, but man, were these singles overplayed. The rest of the tracks are rather dreary and forgettable. Had to skip Pieces of What when I couldn't take the vocals anymore.

Beyond Skin by Nitin Sawhney
Aug 09 2026

I made attempts to listen to this album on two different days. Stayed a little longer the second time, but I just can't finish this. How am I simultaneously anxious, annoyed, and bored?

Bitte Orca by Dirty Projectors
Aug 12 2026

Unpleasantly weird. Bitte orca? Nein panda.

Cafe Bleu by The Style Council
Aug 13 2026

I have no idea what I just listened to. Saved the first track to my upbeat instrumental playlist and would have appreciated more like that. That's not what I got.

Other

Album origins are grouped into three buckets: US, UK, and everything else. “Other” means the artists you rate highest are from outside the US and UK.
