It's rare that I immediately get excited about my album of the day. Today is one of those days but also bittersweet. It's been a while since I've listened to this one all the way through. Damn, I love her voice. Throw in Mark Ronson and the Dap-Kings on top of that? So good. Listened twice.

There are some Bowie songs I like, and Ziggy Stardust is pretty good, but most of it just is not for me. I can listen to it, but I'd prefer something else. This album in particular was quite unsettling.

I like the cover art. Unfortunately it does not seem to go with what I'm hearing. I hit skip when it gets screamy. Then I noped out altogether.

So much shrill harmonica. So much bad singing. I'm out.

I know and like Mr. Brightside, Somebody Told Me, and All These Things That I've Done already. I don't listen to the radio so didn't get as sick of the singles as some folks seem to have. Solid debut album but some problematic lyrics. Probably won't seek it out as a whole, but I could listen if it's on and I did heart some tracks.

It was mostly fine. Some good lyrics. I strongly dislike most lo-fi for misophonia reasons. Nothing really jumped out at me to add to my regular shuffle.

So '80s. What does the synth on From Rags to Riches remind me of? Interesting listen. A few good tracks going in my regular shuffle. Bonus points for being Scottish.

I tend to find singer/songwriters fairly boring. This one was less so, but probably not something I'll return to. There were some interesting/weird bits, so I guess it was worth the listen once. At least she has a good voice.

I like Madonna, but I would not tell anybody they need to listen to this electronica wallpaper before they die. At least the version on Deezer doesn't have the American Pie cover. I did have to misophonia skip some tracks with whispering, though. NOPE!

Enjoyable blues rock. Added a few tracks to my 1001 albums bangers playlist.

Dolly Parton is a national treasure! I've been waiting 287 days but finally got assigned one of her albums. With bonus Linda Ronstadt and Emmylou Harris. I don't even care if the songs are slow. The vocals are outstanding, lots of lovely strings, and I am here for this.

I would love this if it weren't for the singing.

Deezer informs me that Public Enemy has a show with Guns N' Roses at Carter-Finley Stadium (home of NC State Wolfpack football) this summer. Interesting. Good beats, good lyrics, good commentary. Little bit of misogyny but not nearly as bad as some hip-hop albums I've been assigned. Bring Tha Noize was fun.

Punk is absolutely not my genre. Why does he say "re-ignition" like that? Nah, I'm done here.

My review for Aja was "Not particularly exciting, but well played and produced." Same? Yup, same. Not rushing to turn it off, but would rather be listening to some Fleetwood Mac or Toto or Chicago or Hall & Oates...

Absolutely belongs on this list. It's a whole experience listening with headphones. Comfortably Numb is fantastic.

Those bass lines, though. I keep getting distracted by them. Great storytelling too.

Pretty good for a live album. The band was absolutely on fire and the recording was excellent for the time. But it's a live album and at least 30 minutes too long, so I'm unlikely to listen again.
