Chore of Enchantment by Giant Sand
Aug 28 2025

This sounds like it could have been on a soundtrack for any of the Farrelly brothers movies back in the early 2000s, which isn't an insult. I just don't know how I feel about it yet. Is this Lou Reed speaking to me while someone is playing instruments in the basement with some Pete Yorn thrown in? I'm so confused.

Horses by Patti Smith
Sep 02 2025
Bat Out Of Hell by Meat Loaf
Sep 04 2025

I grew up listening to Meat Loaf. Maybe not the best decision on Mom's part, but I still love him. Even if you think he's over the top or too dramatic, you have to admit that this album has some phenomenal written lines!!!!

Sep 05 2025

It's a little too much of the same thing for me, maybe a little too much mellow? David Crosby is great, and if I had to hang out with someone from CSN, it would be him. But this album just isn't for me.

Licensed To Ill by Beastie Boys
Sep 09 2025

Any album that can mention Abe Vigoda still stands up. Was phenomenal when it came out, and it still is.

Scissor Sisters by Scissor Sisters
Sep 12 2025

I am always surprised how much I enjoy the Scissor Sisters, I tend to forget about them. I was going to give this 4 stars, but the whole album at once was too much, I felt like I spend too much time in a club and wasn't drinking while surrounded by too many drunk people, so I had to drop it down to a 3.

Heroes by David Bowie
Sep 17 2025
Tidal by Fiona Apple
Sep 23 2025
Pearl by Janis Joplin
Oct 14 2025
Siamese Dream by The Smashing Pumpkins
Oct 21 2025

I cannot enjoy the songs with that voice. I think I like one Smashing Pumpkins song, and it isn't even on this album.

Roots by Sepultura
Oct 23 2025
Oct 24 2025

They remind me of Charlie's band on Lost, Drive Shaft, and Drive Shaft was more interesting even though they only had one song.  I also think that they tried to incorporate an old British sound, but only because someone suggested, not because they liked it.

Illinois by Sufjan Stevens

Nov 07 2025

Just because someone has to actually come up with 1001 albums does not mean that just any album should be added

Blur by Blur
Dec 01 2025
Suede by Suede
Dec 10 2025

Comparing this to The Smiths is just lazy, and wrong.

21 by Adele
Dec 15 2025
Lost In The Dream by The War On Drugs
Jan 06 2026

So uneventful, I felt like I was listening to the same song over and over. It wasn't horrible, but very boring and uninspired.

Idlewild by Everything But The Girl
Jan 16 2026
Harvest by Neil Young
Jan 19 2026

I'm not a Neil Young fan, never have been. I like perhaps 2 of his songs. BUT, this album is actually quite beautiful. Perhaps if us haters heard this first, our opinion might be a little better.

Boston by Boston
Jan 27 2026

How is this a debut album??? It's so amazing and executed to precision. I definitely need to add more Boston to my music listening.

1999 by Prince
Jan 28 2026
The Contino Sessions by Death In Vegas
Jan 29 2026

There are some albums that I have to read the whole Wikipedia page to understand why it was included on this list. And sometimes even that doesn't help or make me feel any better about my time wasted. This album is one of those times.

Exile On Main Street by The Rolling Stones
Jan 30 2026

OK, it's the Stones. Was never a huge fan, and this really doesn't convince me either. I used to think it was because I was born too late to appreciate them, but there are other bands from "before my time" that I adore, so that's not it. I just think they are overrated. They aren't horrible, but do they deserve all the crazy amount of glory they have gotten? And this wasn't horrible either, but did it have to be a double album, with bad recording?

3 Feet High and Rising by De La Soul
Feb 02 2026

I don't think you can help but be happy listening to this. And Jenifa made me laugh.

Queens of the Stone Age by Queens Of The Stone Age
Feb 05 2026

This album confuses me. I honestly knew nothing about this band, other than their name. Were they from the 70s? Oh, no from the 90s, ok. That makes a little more sense. But the music is still confusing to me. I won't say I hate it, but I'm not going to ever choose to listen to this album again.

Face to Face by The Kinks
Feb 12 2026

Not for me. Perhaps the later albums will suit me better. It was just too much 60s British, almost comically so.

Bummed by Happy Mondays
Feb 19 2026

I wanted to like it more, I felt like I should have.

Kid A by Radiohead
Feb 20 2026

I couldn't find anything enjoyable or redeemable about this album. I really only enjoy one song by this group, and it's not even on this album.

Exodus by Bob Marley & The Wailers
Feb 24 2026

I don't know how a body can stay still while listening to this album. Definitely more familiar with the songs on the second half, but enjoyed the entire album.

Kenya by Machito
Feb 25 2026

Started out with so much energy, and kept it going! loved it!

Meat Puppets II by Meat Puppets
Feb 26 2026

I was not looking forward to listening to this, especially after reading this - "It is a departure from their self-titled debut album, which consisted largely of noisy hardcore with unintelligible vocals." But I guess since it was a departure from that, it's a blessing. Not as bad as I had expected, but still not a 5. I really have an issue with the lead's voice, it's too whiney to be able to just listen to the songs.

Rejoicing In The Hands by Devendra Banhart
Feb 27 2026

Another one that I struggle to understand why it's on this list. Is it horrendous? No. Is it amazing? No. Is it remarkable in any way? Not really.

Only By The Night by Kings of Leon
Mar 04 2026

It's another of those "meh" albums. It's ok, nothing remarkable, nothing horrendous. I like Sex on Fire but it also makes me laugh, because it sounds like a song made specifically for a movie, and not a "real" song.

Cosmo's Factory by Creedence Clearwater Revival
Mar 10 2026

Pleasantly surprised by this one. Never been a CCR fan, but this album managed to have a lot of the better songs on it. Not one I'll ever just choose to listen to on my own, but I enjoyed it enough.

Club Classics Vol. One by Soul II Soul
Mar 19 2026

Some good tracks, but way too much of the same thing over and over again. Club Classics is a good title, after listening to the album I felt like I had spent too much time in the club, with too much bass and strobe lights. Just a little bit less would have been better.

New York Dolls by New York Dolls
Mar 25 2026

Just fun and unexpectedly entertaining.

2112 by Rush
Apr 01 2026
Tago Mago by Can
Apr 08 2026

Not as bad as I was expecting, with a summary that says "experimental." But still unenjoyable. I think the lead singer would have been better suited to a punk band.

Tommy by The Who
Apr 13 2026
Be by Common
Apr 14 2026
Lost In The Dream by The War On Drugs
Apr 17 2026

So uneventful, I felt like I was listening to the same song over and over. It wasn't horrible, but very boring and uninspired.

Siamese Dream by The Smashing Pumpkins
Apr 27 2026

I cannot enjoy the songs with that voice. I think I like one Smashing Pumpkins song, and it isn't even on this album.

Ten by Pearl Jam

Bug by Dinosaur Jr.
May 07 2026
May 08 2026

Never listened to the Kinks much, and I don't think that will change, especially after listening to this. I don't hate them, but it's such a dated sound to me. I think I can appreciate their later work better. I can't get into this at all.

Electric Ladyland by Jimi Hendrix
May 19 2026

This man was crazy talented. I do question Little Miss Strange though, I had to check it was still the same album.

Arular by M.I.A.
May 20 2026
Stand! by Sly & The Family Stone
May 21 2026

Pretty sure this is one of the albums that the word "groove" was invented for.
