Popular Reviews

Legalize It by Peter Tosh

Some of the best reggae you will ever hear, and that's saying a lot.

My favorite Beatle at his rawest. You can almost trip over the emotion. I just listened to this album in 2025 and it's still hits home just like it did when it came out.

Doolittle by Pixies

Rock without the passion, hooks or melody.

The Fat Of The Land by The Prodigy

I don't get it. Every single song on here literally has the same drum beat. Listening to this album was like going to a job you hate. You feel like you have to do a good job but it's not a pleasant feeling. At one point I stepped outside for about 30 seconds and when I came back in I thought it was still the same song. But no, it had gone on to the next song. That pretty much sums up the entire album.

All Ratings (291)

Raw Power by The Stooges
May 16 2025

The title says it all.

Brothers by The Black Keys
May 19 2025

Any band that brings back the blues element is okay with me.

The Suburbs by Arcade Fire
May 20 2025

I could only give this three stars because half of the songs were only two stars but half of the album consisted of four star songs. They should have cut this album in half. A stand out for me was Half Light 1 and 2

Rage Against The Machine by Rage Against The Machine
May 21 2025

This album is fire. Every track on here rocks. Especially Killing In the Name Of. I'm 71 years old and I would listen to these guys for the same reason I listen to Led Zeppelin, Black Sabbath or Deep Purple. Killer guitar work. The guitar is the best thing about these guys.

Station To Station by David Bowie
May 22 2025

Every song on here is amazing. Standouts are Golden Years and Station to Station

New York Dolls by New York Dolls
May 23 2025

Ugh. I hope I never have to listen to this again.

Master Of Puppets by Metallica
May 26 2025

What would Led Zeppelin or AC/DC sound like if you took the blues element completely out of their music? They would probably sound a lot like this. Just because you sing loud does not mean you are singing with passion. Every song sounds the same.

Juju by Siouxsie And The Banshees
May 27 2025

Punk rock meets New Wave. The guitar playing especially is a standout.

Blue Lines by Massive Attack
May 28 2025

Too many songs sound the same. That electronic drum beat gets old after a while.

Rust Never Sleeps by Neil Young & Crazy Horse
Sep 14 2025

This album perfectly showcases the two sides of Neil Young. On the acoustic side, the title track and Pocahontas stand out. The electric side is the heart of the album. The standouts are the electric version of the title track, Powderfinger and Welfare Mothers. I can hear where grunge came from because the guitars throughout the electric side are muddy and dirty, just how I like them.

Black Sabbath by Black Sabbath
Sep 15 2025

One of the greatest debut albums ever. Every track on here is absolutely fire. I give it a 6 out of five.

Sep 17 2025

In my opinion, there are only a handful of really talented punk rock bands and these guys are not one of them. They sound like a Saturday Night Live parody of the Sex Pistols, which are one of the great ones. Give me The Clash or the Ramones or the Patty Smith Group any day. The only good thing about this band that I could hear is the fact that they can play their instruments. But the singer sounds like Johnny Rotten on a bad day.

Destroyer by KISS
Sep 18 2025

I wasn't going to listen to this album because I have always avoided Kiss but I wanted to see if listening would change my mind. It did not. If anything, I will put this on the 1001 albums you should avoid at all costs. These guys make the most boring, generic rock and roll that I have ever heard. Just goes to show that because you wrap s*** up in a pretty package, it still stinks.

Sound Affects by The Jam
Sep 19 2025

I was all prepared to give this only one star because every song was kind of boring. And then I got to the last four tracks. All four of them were fire and I am obligated to add two more stars.

Abattoir Blues / The Lyre of Orpheus by Nick Cave & The Bad Seeds
Sep 20 2025

I was introduced to this music through the Peaky Blinders TV show. I didn't think I could acquire any new bands that I liked but the minute I heard them I knew they were fantastic. This is the second time I've listened to this album and every song on it is a banger. Abattoir blues is my favorite

Happy Trails by Quicksilver Messenger Service
Sep 21 2025

Bo Diddley meets psychedelia. The whole album is a banger.

There's A Riot Goin' On by Sly & The Family Stone
Sep 22 2025

What can I say? This is a funk masterpiece from beginning to end. Not as optimistic as his previous work but essential nonetheless. Standouts are Family Affair, Thank You For Talking To Me Africa and Runnin' Away.

Sea Change by Beck
Sep 23 2025

I have always liked Beck and this album does not change my mind. It's not his best but it's definitely worth four stars.

Beauty And The Beat by The Go-Go's
Sep 24 2025

These ladies are a lot of fun. Some songs are five stars and some are four stars but every song is a banger

Closer by Joy Division
Sep 25 2025

Never heard these guys before but they're pretty good. Mixing punk with new wave and it works.

Tracy Chapman by Tracy Chapman
Sep 26 2025

A soulful debut from Tracy Chapman. She combines r&b with folk music and every song on here is a banger

Sound of Silver by LCD Soundsystem
Sep 27 2025

I was all prepared to not like these guys but by the third song they had totally won me over. I don't know if any other album sounds like this but if they do, they have my vote. Pop music for smart people, and you can dance to it also!!!

Kid A by Radiohead
Sep 29 2025

I was prepared not to like this but I was pleasantly surprised. This is an album you must listen to with headphones.

Achtung Baby by U2
Sep 30 2025

Not as good as there earlier stuff but still an excellent album. Four stars

Sticky Fingers by The Rolling Stones
Oct 01 2025

Stones at their best. Raw and real. Every song is a banger.

A Love Supreme by John Coltrane
Oct 02 2025

I never did like Bebop jazz. The kind of jazz I like has a beat to it and you can dance to it. I always thought this kind of jazz was akin to musical masturbation. I know it influenced a lot of people and it's a classic but I can't give it more than three stars.

John Prine by John Prine
Oct 10 2025

A five-star debut from Mr Prine. Several standouts, including Angel From Montgomery, Hello In There and Sam Stone. He paints a picture with every song. Not a bad song on this album.

Hounds Of Love by Kate Bush
Oct 11 2025

The first song, Running Up the Hill, is a five-star song. Kate Bush is very talented and a very good singer but just not my cup of tea. The rest of the songs I only gave a three.

Superunknown by Soundgarden
Oct 12 2025

Even though I like Nirvana and I had heard a couple Soundgarden songs that I liked before, one of them being Black Hole Sun, I really wasn't into grunge. That may have to change because after listening to this album I need to hear more. Five stars from start to finish. These guys know how to rock. Chris Cornell is an excellent singer. R.I.P.

Blood On The Tracks by Bob Dylan
Oct 14 2025

One of Bob Dylan's greatest albums. A perfect five out of five from start to finish. Favorite songs are Tangled Up In Blue, Jack of Hearts, and Idiot Wind.

Halcyon Digest by Deerhunter
Oct 15 2025

Not my thing. One word to describe it. Boring.

Bryter Layter by Nick Drake
Oct 16 2025

I just don't get it. I found these songs extremely boring.

Trout Mask Replica by Captain Beefheart & His Magic Band
Oct 23 2025

I love Frank Zappa who produced this album but this guy is unlistenable.

Doolittle by Pixies
Oct 25 2025

Rock without the passion, hooks or melody.

Tical by Method Man
Oct 27 2025

cRap

Yoshimi Battles The Pink Robots by The Flaming Lips
Oct 28 2025

I had heard of these guys but I have never listened to them until now. It was a pleasant surprise. Excellent production, all the songs are original and none of them sound alike. A perfect combination of electronica, alternative and just good old rock and roll.

The Kinks are right up there with the Who as far as I'm concerned. One of the greatest British bands of all time. This album is proof. Every song on here is well crafted and well written. Four and a half Stars but I will give it five because four is too low.

All Things Must Pass by George Harrison
Oct 30 2025

Easily the best Beatles solo album out of all of them. George finally got the airplay that he deserved. It's a shame The Beatles had to break up in order for that to happen. Not a bad song on here. The only fly in the ointment is the last two sides but I still give it five stars.

Joan Armatrading by Joan Armatrading
Oct 31 2025

Her voice is very unique and very soulful. Down to Zero and Love and Affection are my favorites. Definitely at least four stars

Let's Stay Together by Al Green
Nov 01 2025

Come and worship at the altar of soul with the Reverend Al Green. Memphis Soul at its best. Mr Green is definitely in the top five soul singers of all time. This album is five star from start to finish. The embodiment of music with feeling.

C'est Chic by CHIC
Nov 02 2025

Funk at its best. Nile Rogers is one of the best bass players around. Every song jumps off the speakers and makes you grab your dancing shoes.

Nov 03 2025

My favorite Beatle at his rawest. You can almost trip over the emotion. I just listened to this album in 2025 and it's still hits home just like it did when it came out.

Electric Warrior by T. Rex
Nov 04 2025

Why this group was not more popular in the states than they were is a mystery to me. The rhythm section in this band is amazing. Futuristic with its roots in rock and roll. Every song is a banger. R.I.P. Mark Bolan

Mellon Collie and the Infinite Sadness by The Smashing Pumpkins
Nov 05 2025

I had heard of these guys but I had never listened to anything they recorded. I'm a 60s and 70s guy so I don't know much about the 90s. All I know is this album was a banger. I didn't look forward to listening to an album this long but every song was engaging. A lot of straight-out rockers on this album, even though they do a few other genres. I still like the sixties and seventies better but I've been finding out that they were still making good music in the 90s.

Nov 06 2025

Curtis Mayfield is one of the greatest singers and songwriters of all time and this album proves it. Soul and funk at its best. Music with a message.

Cosmo's Factory by Creedence Clearwater Revival
Nov 07 2025

I give this album 10 stars out of five. CCR is the epitome of American rock and roll. Every song on this album is a certified banger and John Fogerty sounds just as good live as he does in the studio.

Stardust by Willie Nelson
Nov 08 2025

Willie Nelson, other than George Jones, has the most expressive voice in all of country music and one of the most expressive in any genre. With what would seem like little effort at all, his voice oozes soul. All of these classic songs get the Willie Nelson treatment and they become the better for it.

Smile by Brian Wilson
Nov 09 2025

A lot of people are not going to get this and I understand that. They didn't appreciate Picasso until after he died. Great artists are often like that. Hands down, Brian Wilson is in the top three songwriters of the last two centuries. This is the album that would have gave Sergeant Pepper a run for the money. He has perfected everything he ever wanted the Beach Boys to be into this one album. Granted, The Beach Boys are not on this album but he originally crafted the music for them. In the top 10 albums of the last 100 years.

Come Away With Me by Norah Jones
Nov 10 2025

I actually expected to like this more than I did. I guess memory is fonder the older it is. Upon re-listening, I find that she has a good voice, although it does get on your nerves after a few songs. I'll give it three stars but I can't do any more than that. It really is like being in a Starbucks.

Gorillaz by Gorillaz
Nov 11 2025

I guess you would call this trip hop? Slightly better than it's dirty cousin, hip Hop. It might make some good background music if I was tripping but if I was going to seriously do some more psychedelics then I would probably just put on Jimi hendrix's masterpiece Electric Ladyland. This will not make my playlist. Not offensive but not exciting either.

Crime Of The Century by Supertramp
Nov 12 2025

One of my favorite English groups from the 70s. My younger brother got me into this album. Had never heard of Supertramp before. At least five of the eight songs are bangers. My favorites are Bloody Well Right and Dreamer

At Mister Kelly's by Sarah Vaughan
Nov 13 2025

I'm not a big fan of jazz instrumentals but I am a huge fan of jazz vocals. Sarah Vaughn rates right up there with Satchmo, Ella Fitzgerald, Frank Sinatra and Tony Bennett. Her vocal chops shine on this album.

Arrival by ABBA
Nov 14 2025

There's nothing wrong with these guys per se. All the songs are catchy and their harmonies are good but I don't hear any soul in this at all. They're not really singing with feeling, they're just concentrating on the harmonies. But if I want to listen to really good harmonies, I will put on some Simon and Garfunkel. I give this three out of five.

good kid, m.A.A.d city by Kendrick Lamar
Nov 15 2025

As far as music goes, rap sucks. Yes, he might be a good lyricist but this should be in the beat poetry category, not the music category.

Queen II by Queen
Nov 16 2025

Okay, my problem is not with the excellent musicianship or Freddy's multi-octave voice. My problem is the same problem I've had with Queen off and on. Many of their songs are forgettable and overblown. I can't believe this album was included on this website but not A Day At The Races, which to me is a much better album. In my opinion Queen didn't really become of age until A Night At The Opera. After having listened to it I cannot remember a single song.

Basket of Light by Pentangle
Nov 17 2025

If English psychedelic folk was my thing, I would probably give this five stars. But it's not my thing so I'm only giving it three stars, in recognition of their talent.

Third/Sister Lovers by Big Star
Nov 19 2025

Big Star is one of those great bands that just had bad luck and missed opportunity. They should have been huge. That being said, this, the third album is not as good as their first two. But it's still better than most of the material that was being released at the time. The songs are tight and well written.

Hunky Dory by David Bowie
Nov 20 2025

What can you say about David Bowie. The man can bend time and space with his voice. Every song on here is a banger. Standouts are Changes, Life on Mars and the Bellway Brothers.

Elvis Presley by Elvis Presley
Nov 21 2025

First of all, I'm going to start by saying that Elvis did not appropriate black culture anymore than Charlie Pride appropriated white culture. If we all thought like that, then I guess the Righteous Brothers should have stuck with singing Doris Day covers. Anyway this album is an amazing debut by an amazing artist. He grew up listening to r&b and that's what he wanted to sing. Charlie Pride grew up listening to country and western and that's what he sang. This album is the shot heard round the world. Rock and Roll did not originate with Elvis but he brought it to fruition.

The Fat Of The Land by The Prodigy
Nov 22 2025

I don't get it. Every single song on here literally has the same drum beat. Listening to this album was like going to a job you hate. You feel like you have to do a good job but it's not a pleasant feeling. At one point I stepped outside for about 30 seconds and when I came back in I thought it was still the same song. But no, it had gone on to the next song. That pretty much sums up the entire album.

Ananda Shankar by Ananda Shankar
Nov 23 2025

This is supposed to be a mixture of east Indian and rock and roll music. But the only song that fits that category is their cover of Jumping Jack Flash. I would have loved to have heard more rock and roll covers. But, you cannot deny the talent of the musicians on this album. It's just not my thing.

Countdown To Ecstasy by Steely Dan
Nov 24 2025

Steely Dan never released a bad album during their entire career. While this one is not quite as good as their debut album, it still is a perfect album..

Boston by Boston
Nov 26 2025

One of the best debut albums ever. None of their other albums even came close.

You Are The Quarry by Morrissey
Nov 27 2025

I have heard some songs by Morrissey that I cannot remember the names to. What stood out in those songs that does not stand out here, was the excellent guitar playing. He has changed guitar players for this album and it shows. Other than that, I really am not a fan of the droning kind of shoegaze music that this sounds like

I'm Your Man by Leonard Cohen
Nov 28 2025

I've been interested in this guy since I heard him sing Suzanne. He is one of the better songwriters out there. That said, this album is pretty good. Let's Take Manhattan, and There Is No Cure For Love are two of my favorites.

Sister by Sonic Youth
Nov 30 2025

I was always intrigued by these guys but I never really sat down and listened to an entire album. This album is awesome. I love their whole guitar "wall of sound".

Medúlla by Björk
Dec 01 2025

Count me as one of the ones who don't get it. She has a pleasant voice. She might even make a good rock and roll singer but this stuff is just boring.

The Downward Spiral by Nine Inch Nails
Dec 02 2025

I had only known one song on this album. I had heard their single Closer and I was impressed. So when this album came my way to review I was looking forward to it and I was not disappointed. Of course I had heard of their version of Hurt but I had never actually listened to it. I can see why JC liked it. Every song on here is a banger but you have to listen to it with headphones or you will miss the nuance in the music.

Ray Of Light by Madonna
Dec 05 2025

Boring and repetitive. Give me some real female singers like Aretha or Linda or Janis. If she hadn't been wearing her bra on the outside, we never would have heard of her. Flash over substance.

Grace by Jeff Buckley
Dec 06 2025

This guy can sing. His version of Hallelujah and the song So Real are my favorites. Gone too soon.

Ellington at Newport by Duke Ellington
Dec 07 2025

I'm not a big jazz fan but I like this kind of jazz more than modern jazz. My favorite is Louis Armstrong but I can appreciate Ellington. That said, I don't think this album is five star. I would rather give it three and a half but I will go for four because I think three is too low.

Oar by Alexander 'Skip' Spence
Dec 08 2025

I was a fan of Moby grape but this is just a bunch of mumbling and meandering. I suppose they might be good songs if sung by somebody else. In fact I heard there was a tribute album. Maybe I need to listen to that but this I don't get.

Buena Vista Social Club by Buena Vista Social Club
Dec 09 2025

To all of those people who said they don't understand the language, neither do I, but I do understand the music. This music makes you feel alive. It makes me want to grab a beer and get out on the dance floor.

Country Life by Roxy Music
Dec 11 2025

It's weird because I love singers in bands who were obviously influenced by Bryan Ferry and Roxy Music. David Byrne from the Talking Heads and Ric Ocasek from the Cars are two examples. But these singers have only picked up on the good parts of his voice. That vibrato he does at the end of every note is hard to handle. That said, if they had a singer that I liked this could be a four-star album. But if I can't get past the vocals, I can't get into the music. So the best I could do is two stars. The songs aren't that memorable either.

Definitely Maybe by Oasis
Dec 12 2025

These guys did not sound anything like I thought they were going to sound like. I thought it was going to be some more British shoegaze crap. That said, I like the guitarist but I don't like the singer. If don't like the singer, I can't get any further than that. Also the songs don't really have any good hooks except for a couple of them.

Dec 13 2025

I love Ray Davies and I love the Kinks. Not everyone will get this album but I like just about anything they do. He's writing is very whimsical and filled with humor. Definitely five stars

Damaged by Black Flag
Dec 14 2025

I listened to it once but don't ask me to do it twice. There are only four bands from the punk rock movement that I care about and this is not one of them. The Sex Pistols, The Ramones, The Patti Smith Group and The Clash are all you need as far as punk rock goes. These guys sound like an angrier Sex Pistols but not as good.

Rubber Soul by Beatles
Dec 15 2025

This album inspired Brian Wilson to write Pet Sounds which is the Beach Boys' best album. Only about half of the songs are in a different direction from their previous work. But the songs that are like their previous work are excellent examples. Any album that has Norwegian Wood, In My Life and Girl on it is five stars. Yes, the lyrics to Run For Your Life are not John's best, to say the least. But, he has probably taken those words back and they pale in comparison to some of the songs nowadays. Musically speaking, it's an excellent example of the Beatles in their old style

Kind Of Blue by Miles Davis
Dec 16 2025

I'm not a big fan of this kind of jazz. I like Louis Armstrong and Ella Fitzgerald that type of jazz. However, I have always made an exception with this album. It's the only jazz album besides Louie and Ella that I have ever owned. It's the perfect music for getting stoned and relaxing. Definitely the best thing that Miles ever did.

Dec 17 2025

Wow. Every once in awhile they send me an album that gets me by surprise. I had never heard of these guys before but every song on here is a banger. The first three songs, Kinky Afro, God's Cop and Donovan are my favorite. I can't even tell you what genre this is. It's kind of like Elvis Costello meets the Byrds.

Wild Wood by Paul Weller
Dec 19 2025

This album really surprised me. It doesn't even sound British. If I hadn't already known that he was from England I would have sworn he was an American or a Canadian. In fact, they sound a lot like the Band. Every song on here was enjoyable

Wild Is The Wind by Nina Simone
Dec 20 2025

One of the greatest and probably the most underappreciated singer of the 20th century. There's no denying her voice. I don't think this is her best album but definitely a four.

Bert Jansch by Bert Jansch
Dec 21 2025

I like some folk music but this one doesn't do anything for me.

London Calling by The Clash
Dec 22 2025

One of the three or four punk rock bands that actually made a difference. Along with the Sex Pistols and the Ramones and possibly the Patti Smith Group, they helped to define punk rock. This might be their best album. I'll have to listen to Sandinista again.

Highway 61 Revisited by Bob Dylan
Dec 23 2025

Bob Dylan at his best. Absolutely perfect album. A game changer. Definitely the greatest songwriter of the 20th century. Oh, and I like his voice.

Birth Of The Cool by Miles Davis
Dec 24 2025

If I was a jazz fan, I would probably give this five stars but it's just not my thing. I do like the older jazz like Louis Armstrong but I was never a fan of Bebop. The musicianship is impeccable so I have to give it three stars for that.

The Köln Concert by Keith Jarrett
Dec 25 2025

I like more structured jazz, not this improvisational stuff. But, as always, the musicianship is top-notch and there's no denying the artistry.

Dec 26 2025

The best Christmas album ever. Phil Spector was a horrible person but a musical visionary. His wall of sound influenced everybody from Brian Wilson to Paul McCartney.

Africa Brasil by Jorge Ben Jor
Dec 27 2025

I couldn't understand a word he said and I didn't care. This music is fire.

Dec 28 2025

I listened to it but now you guys need to send me some Beatles, Springsteen or some Stones to get this nonsense out of my head. This was just one long boring, monotonous track.

Kimono My House by Sparks
Dec 29 2025

I can't get past the singer's voice. The songs are okay but I just don't like his voice.

Surrealistic Pillow by Jefferson Airplane
Dec 30 2025

The first psychedelic album that I ever listened to. Banger from start to finish. Their second album but the first with Grace Slick. Produced by Jerry Garcia. In my opinion they never reached this level again.

Jan 01 2026

Sorry, but I don't want a video game going off in my ear for 45 minutes. That's what this sounds like. Not my thing.

Dirt by Alice In Chains
Jan 02 2026

There were a couple of halfway decent songs but I felt that it kind of droned on. I've heard other groups do it better. That muddy kind of guitar sound is okay if you have the songs to back it up but these guys didn't.

Jan 03 2026

This album was released in 1963 but it pretty much represents the 1950s period of James Brown's career. Even though I prefer his sixties and seventies material, there is no denying the pure soul this album pours into your ears. Definitely five star.

Out of Step by Minor Threat
Jan 04 2026

There are only three or four punk rock bands that don't sound the same and this is not one of them.

Is This It by The Strokes
Jan 05 2026

I like every song on here except for the first one. Influenced by punk and 60s rock, all of their tunes have great hooks and great melodies.

Jan 07 2026

From the opening chords on the very first song, I knew I would like this album. Every song is a tight little banger. These guys would have been awesome on a three-way bill with the Clash and the Who

Jan 09 2026

New Wave music in the early '80s was at its peak. Four stars for this album. This makes you want to get up and dance.

Surf's Up by The Beach Boys
Jan 10 2026

Even with Mike Love's horrible Student Demonstration Time, this is a four-star album. It has some of the most beautiful Beach Boys songs on it

Pretenders by Pretenders
Jan 11 2026

A strong debut album for one of the better groups in the '80s. A perfect melting pot of rock, punk and New Wave.

The Nightfly by Donald Fagen
Jan 12 2026

This could have been an excellent Steely Dan album. Instead, it's an excellent Donald Fagan album. Love his version of Ruby Baby.

Jan 14 2026

I had never heard of these guys and that is my loss because this album is amazing. One of the better debut albums from anybody.

Neon Bible by Arcade Fire
Jan 15 2026

A pretty good effort from these guys. A lot of solid songs on here. I grew up on 60's and 70's music but these guys are pretty good.

Skylarking by XTC
Jan 16 2026

I had always heard good things about these guys but for some reason I never checked them out. That was my loss because this album is amazing. Serious Beatles influences here. Excellent songwriting.

Brothers In Arms by Dire Straits
Jan 17 2026

I prefer more guitar picking by Mark knopfler than this album has but it's still an iconic album. Every song is a banger.

Dummy by Portishead
Jan 18 2026

I was not familiar with the trip hop genre but if it's like this album, I'm a new fan. Take some mushrooms and put this on.

Legalize It by Peter Tosh
Jan 19 2026

Some of the best reggae you will ever hear, and that's saying a lot.

Parsley, Sage, Rosemary And Thyme by Simon & Garfunkel
Jan 20 2026

I like about 3/4 of this album. It's probably their best album up to this point but it does not stand up to their next album, Bookends.

Transformer by Lou Reed
Jan 21 2026

Nothing on this album except for Walk On the Wild Side is as good as what he did with the Velvet Underground.

Parallel Lines by Blondie
Jan 22 2026

One of the best bands to come out of the punk rock / new wave movement of the mid to late seventies. I can only give this four stars but I'd like to give it four and a half. Almost every song is a banger.

Guero by Beck
Jan 23 2026

I love this guy. I might start a fan club called Boomers for Beck. Every song on here is a banger.

Who's Next by The Who
Jan 24 2026

The holy Trinity of British rock bands, in my opinion, is the Beatles, the Rolling Stones and The Who. The holy Trinity of Who albums is tommy, this album, and quadrophenia. Every song on here is not just a banger, it's a classic. I saw them live when Keith Moon was still with him and they blew me and everybody else away

The Cars by The Cars
Jan 25 2026

One of the best debut albums ever. Every song on here is a classic. They released many good albums after this but this remains their best. These guys helped to start the entire New Wave genre.

Tubular Bells by Mike Oldfield
Jan 26 2026

Back when his first come out, this was the perfect album to put on after doing some hallucinogens. This time, I listened to it straight and it's still just as awesome. Side one still gives me goosebumps.

Jan 29 2026

Not sure if this is my favorite Elton John album or my second favorite. I also love his Tumbleweed Connection album and his Madman Across the Water album also. But this is definitely a classic. Every song on here is good to amazing.

Next by The Sensational Alex Harvey Band
Jan 30 2026

The guitar player for this band is very good but I don't like the singer. Also, a couple of the songs involved questionable lyrics. I grew up in the '60s so not a lot offends me but did we really need a song about the dubious pleasures of a gang bang?

Physical Graffiti by Led Zeppelin
Jan 31 2026

Led Zeppelin's last great album. I saw them perform this live and they were amazing. Kashmir and In My Time of Dying are just two of the classics on here.

Heroes to Zeros by The Beta Band
Feb 01 2026

Another band I never heard of and I don't know why because these guys are killer. Definitely a five-star album.

Feb 02 2026

If they had a better singer, this could have been a four-star album but this guy gives a poor imitation of Johnny Rotten. The drummer is especially good but because of the singer I can only give it three stars.

Lady Soul by Aretha Franklin
Feb 03 2026

What can you say about the greatest female singer who ever lived? Soul oozes from every pore in her body. There will never be another like her. Long live Aretha.

Layla And Other Assorted Love Songs by Derek & The Dominos
Feb 04 2026

Eric Clapton at his best. Duane Allman on slide guitar. What more could you want? Some killer blues tracks and some killer rock tracks.

Raising Hell by Run-D.M.C.
Feb 05 2026

More like run like hell, away from this noise.

Ctrl by SZA
Feb 06 2026

I can't believe they praised her for her vocal delivery. If it wasn't for auto-tune she wouldn't even have a voice. If this is what female singers today ascertain to, real r&b is dead. They say she wrote the lyrics but it doesn't take a whole lot of talent to write these kind of lyrics. Supposedly she collaborated with other producers on the music. Translated, that means she didn't have a lot to do with it. And even if she did, this music sucks. Long live Aretha.

At Folsom Prison by Johnny Cash
Feb 07 2026

Johnny Cash is badass. His music is badass. This album has been on my turntable since 1968. Definitely five stars.

Metal Box by Public Image Ltd.
Feb 09 2026

You should have stayed in the Sex Pistols, Johnny. At least then, we knew you weren't trying to be pretentious with this garbage.

Bayou Country by Creedence Clearwater Revival
Feb 10 2026

The second in a six album run of perfect/almost perfect recordings. This is the album that broke them into the mainstream. Born On the Bayou, Proud Mary and many more. Every song on here is a banger. One of the greatest American bands of all time. One of the greatest bands of all time.

16 Lovers Lane by The Go-Betweens
Feb 11 2026

Another surprise. This website makes me listen to music outside my bubble. I had vaguely heard of these guys but never listened to any of their music. That was my loss because this album is filled with poppy, hook laden songs. Kind of New Wave, but kind of not. If I was allowed to, I would give it four and a half but I will give it five because four does not do it credit

Morrison Hotel by The Doors
Feb 12 2026

After their less than spectacular previous album, Soft Parade, the Doors decided to get back to basics and boy did they. This album stands shoulder to shoulder with any of their earlier classic albums. The Doors at their best.

Paranoid by Black Sabbath
Feb 13 2026

Black Sabbath at they're very best. They would never reach these heights again, at least not for a complete album.

Tea for the Tillerman by Cat Stevens
Feb 14 2026

This album was on my turntable constantly in the early seventies. This is one of those albums that you don't skip a single song.

Maverick A Strike by Finley Quaye
Feb 15 2026

This album was ear candy from the first track to the last. I love the reggae and dub sound. I'm no expert on it but I know what I like and I would definitely play this album again.

Off The Wall by Michael Jackson
Feb 16 2026

I think this is Michael's best album. Thriller is a great album but this one really gets me moving. Tracks 1 through 5 especially.

Endtroducing..... by DJ Shadow
Feb 17 2026

Listening to this album reminded me of being on hold with the IRS or some other government agency for 60 minutes. I know this came out in the '90s but this is elevator music for the 21st century. If I wanted to hear something that droned on and on endlessly without saying anything of substance, I would invite one of my ex-girlfriends over for dinner.

Feb 19 2026

George Michael is what happens when you cross Elton John with Marvin Gaye. His voice is a joy to listen to. This is probably his best album.

Music for the Masses by Depeche Mode
Feb 20 2026

These guys are better than I thought they would be. I've always heard of them but I never sat down and listened to any music by them except for Personal Jesus and only because Johnny Cash covered it. An excellent example of post New Wave.

Frank by Amy Winehouse
Feb 21 2026

Even the weaker songs are elevated to four star status by her unique voice. It reminds me of the girl groups from the early 60s. This will definitely go on my playlist.

Bat Out Of Hell by Meat Loaf
Feb 22 2026

With the help of Jim Steinman, Meatloaf has created a classic mixture of drama, rock and roll and humor

Private Dancer by Tina Turner
Feb 23 2026

Tina's voice is one of the most soulful I've ever heard. Raw and real. I still prefer her older material better but this album is pretty good. Her version of I Can't Stand the Rain sends chills down my spine.

Feb 24 2026

Bob Dylan's second album but it really is his first album to showcase his immense songwriting talents. Some of his greatest songs are on this album. The cover is a classic. In a coat he borrowed from James Dean. The greatest songwriter of the 20th century. And I love his voice. You don't have to sound like Barbra Streisand to convey feeling.

Feb 25 2026

An aptly entitled album because if I wanted to destroy Rock and roll, I would definitely put this album on. Just because you can work a computer program and put a bunch of samples together does not make you a musician. I guess it's pleasant enough to listen to but what's the point?

L.A. Woman by The Doors
Feb 26 2026

The Doors went even further into their roots and ended their career with a top notch album. LA woman, Riders On the Storm and Love Her Madly are my three favorites.

Blur by Blur
Feb 27 2026

This album is okay. Only one song really grabbed my attention and that was track two. Also called song two. The rest of it is just more shoegaze music.

Feb 28 2026

Half of these songs are five star and half of them are only three star, so it gets a four-star overall. Standouts of course are Bohemian Rhapsody and love of my life.

The La's by The La's
Mar 01 2026

I don't usually go for Brit pop but these guys had a distinct 60s sound that I liked

Roxy Music by Roxy Music
Mar 02 2026

I've never been able to handle this guy's voice. If they had a different singer I might give it four stars but if I can't get past the singer, I can't listen to it.

Licensed To Ill by Beastie Boys
Mar 03 2026

This is a really good party album. A perfect mixture of hip hop and rock and roll.

Among The Living by Anthrax
Mar 04 2026

Bands like anthrax, Slayer and Metallica ruined heavy metal because they took it further away from the Blues. In fact, they eliminated the blues Factor altogether which is what made heavy metal enjoyable. At least to me. Long live Led Zeppelin.

Duck Stab/Buster & Glen by The Residents
Mar 06 2026

This has to be the strangest album I have or ever will listened to. I don't mean that in a totally negative way. If the reason that this album is on this list is because it is unique, I could understand that.. It's kind of like Pink Floyd meets the punk rock era with a little Sesame Street thrown in. I can't recommend it nor trash it. I'll have to leave that up to you.

Marquee Moon by Television
Mar 07 2026

These guys were closely associated with the punk rock movement but they flew in the face of every thing that was punk rock. Most of their songs were over 4 minutes. They had long guitar solos and they could play their instruments masterfully. Tom Verlaine really was one of the better guitarists to come up in the seventies.

Diamond Life by Sade
Mar 08 2026

One of the sultrious voices around.

Mermaid Avenue by Billy Bragg
Mar 09 2026

He's from England but his music is very Americana. I think this music would be better heard live but this album is pretty good. His voice is pleasant but nothing fantastic about it. It's at least worth a four.

Meat Is Murder by The Smiths
Mar 10 2026

Johnny Marr is an excellent guitarist and the parts where he is doing his thing, I like. But I could never get past Morrissey's voice.

S.F. Sorrow by The Pretty Things
Mar 11 2026

Psychedelia meets British folk meets pop meets rock and roll and it all sounds really good. Not a bad song on this album. These guys should have been much bigger in the states than they were

California by American Music Club
Mar 12 2026

This was nothing like I expected. Kind of a Indie meets Americana vibe. Heavy on the Americana. A nice listen.

Deja Vu by Crosby, Stills, Nash & Young
Mar 13 2026

American harmonies at their peak. Yes, I know Graham Nash is British but he was influenced primarily by American music. This album is five star all the way through.

Hot Buttered Soul by Isaac Hayes
Mar 14 2026

I'll take a catfish sandwich, collard greens, some mashed potatoes and, most importantly, a side of Hot Buttered Soul.

Vanishing Point by Primal Scream
Mar 15 2026

This is some really good music to get high with. Headphones are a must. It's not so much the individual songs, but the album as a whole. More music that I probably never would have heard if I wasn't on this website.

Jagged Little Pill by Alanis Morissette
Mar 16 2026

Who says personal drama doesn't make for great music? Not Alanis and definitely not the guy that this is about. I can't blame her though because it's happened to me. You oughta know is probably the best "hell has no fury as a woman scorned"song there is.

You Want It Darker by Leonard Cohen
Mar 17 2026

He started out very similar to Dylan but he evolved much beyond that. I feel like a wise old sage is whispering wisdom into my ear when I listen to him.

Mar 18 2026

This album and the next two that followed it, Highway 61 Revisited and Blonde On Blonde, is Dylan at his peak

This Year's Model by Elvis Costello & The Attractions
Mar 20 2026

Elvis Costello's second album lives up to the promise of his first album. Every song on here is a banger. A perfect mix of new wave and punk rock. At least, the attitude of punk rock.

Mar 21 2026

A pivotal album in the development of country and western music. A little dated but it still sounds great. Marty's voice is impeccable and his songwriting skills are some of the best.

The Age Of The Understatement by The Last Shadow Puppets
Mar 22 2026

More new music that I discovered on this website. Don't really know what genre it is but it sounds good. Definitely going on the playlist

Let It Bleed by The Rolling Stones
Mar 24 2026

This is the Rolling Stones at the height of their powers. Starting with the album before this, Beggars Banquet, then continuing with the next two albums, Sticky Fingers and Exile On Main Street, they showed us how rock and roll was supposed to sound

Apr 28 2026

A highly underrated band and a highly underrated album. One of the psychedelic masterpieces of the early 70s.

Heroes by David Bowie
Apr 29 2026

It's hard to believe this album came out in 1977. So far ahead of its time. Bowie dons one of his alter egos and, along with Brian Eno, comes up with a killer album.

Make Yourself by Incubus
Apr 30 2026

Another new band that I never heard of until I started reviewing records for this website. A pretty good mix of funk and Rock. That's as close as I can get to describing it. The songs are all exceptional and I will definitely be listening to it again.

Nowhere by Ride
May 01 2026

Another discovery from this website that I like. All the songs are good and it is now on my playlist.

Crosby, Stills & Nash by Crosby, Stills & Nash
May 02 2026

The late 60s were full of stunning debut albums from the Doors to Jimi Hendrix and of course these guys. The first super group where I knew all the bands that the members came from. The opening track, Suite: Judy Blue Eyes raises expectations and the rest of the album does not disappoint.

Broken English by Marianne Faithfull
May 03 2026

This album was a pleasant surprise. After reading her Wikipedia page and how it described her voice as becoming rougher, I halfway expected to hear something akin to Bob Dylan gargling broken glass. However, I was surprised to hear that I like her voice during this period more then I ever did when she first came out in the 60s. From the opening track Broken English to the closer Why'd Ya Do It, this album rocks.

Nothing's Shocking by Jane's Addiction
May 04 2026

When this album came out in 1988, my son was being born so I totally missed these guys. I had heard of them but because I knew they were alternative, I really wasn't interested. Well, you can call it whatever you want to but it's still rock and roll to me and I like it. The lead guitar player is amazing and the best thing about this group. The singer's voice is muddied but it fits right in with the music. Each song has a catchy riff that is easy to vibe along with. I didn't really care what the lyrics were, I was paying attention to the music.

May 05 2026

Yes they have, a long way to the demise of creative music that comes from the soul.

Out Of The Blue by Electric Light Orchestra
May 07 2026

A perfect album in every sense of the word. It could have gone on for another hour and I would not have minded. Electric Light Orchestra is the closest thing to The Beatles that the 70s ever had. I give this a six out of five.

Rust In Peace by Megadeth
May 08 2026

Not my kind of rock and roll

Innervisions by Stevie Wonder
May 09 2026

In my opinion Stevie Wonder is right up there with Bob Dylan and the songwriting team of Lennon and McCartney. Starting with the album before this, Talking Book, he had a four album run of pure genius. Funk / Soul at its best.

Feast of Wire by Calexico
May 10 2026

A nice blend of alternative, Tex-Mex and rock and roll.

Rattlesnakes by Lloyd Cole And The Commotions
May 11 2026

A couple of the songs are good but most of them are quite unremarkable

Songs In The Key Of Life by Stevie Wonder
May 12 2026

Stevie's opus Magnus. More evidence that he stands toe to toe with all the great songwriters, like Dylan and Lennon/McCartney.

The Velvet Underground by The Velvet Underground
May 13 2026

This album seems a little bit more accessible compared to there first album, although that one has my two favorite Velvet Underground songa, Waiting For the Man and Heroin. While this one doesn't have the upper tier songs like those two, they have more songs that are almost there.

Fred Neil by Fred Neil
May 15 2026

This is his sophomore album and a great improvement over his debut. A perfect example of folk/blues. One of the many highlights is definitely Everybody's Talking which was a huge hit as a cover by Harry Nilsson back in either 69 or 68. It was basically the theme song from the movie Midnight Cowboy.

Moon Safari by Air
May 16 2026

The name of this band tells you everything you need to know about their music. Air, and nothing but

Back to Mystery City by Hanoi Rocks
May 17 2026

Another band that I had heard of but didn't know their music. These guys are great. Kind of like Elvis Costello meets The Clash meets Cheap Trick. All of their hooks were first rate and every song was pretty good

Odessey And Oracle by The Zombies
May 18 2026

This is very baroque and probably not for everybody but I really love the harmonies and the lead singer has a beautiful voice. Of course it helps that it has one of my favorite songs, Time of the Season

Illinois by Sufjan Stevens
May 19 2026

I don't know why this album is even on this list. It's an insult to all elevators. I'm only giving it to sorry because they know how to play their instruments at least.

Arise by Sepultura
May 21 2026

Sorry, but this s*** is just unlistenable.

What's Going On by Marvin Gaye
May 22 2026

Some say this is the greatest album ever made. I have my own list but this would definitely be on it. Perfect example of what soul with a heart sounds like. Marvin Gaye at his best and that's saying a lot.

The Man Machine by Kraftwerk
May 23 2026

This kind of music usually isn't what I listen to but these guys are an exception. Definitely a free cursor to New Way in the other synth based music.

...And Justice For All by Metallica
May 28 2026

If there was justice for all, these guys would be tried for killing off blues-based heavy metal. I gave them two stars instead of one because at least they know how to play an instrument.

Ágætis Byrjun by Sigur Rós
May 29 2026

Another album that I wasn't sure I would like but I did. Not the kind of music that I would normally listen to but this was very engaging and Pink Floydish. Ear candy for the mind.

Synchronicity by The Police
May 30 2026

These guys never made anything less than a perfect album and this is no exception. Too bad they couldn't go on because they were at their peak. But, Sting without their guitar as Andy Sumner isn't the same.

Deserter's Songs by Mercury Rev
May 31 2026

Not my type of music. There were a couple of good songs but for the most part it was pretty boring. I'll give it a three because like I said, there were a couple of decent songs and the musicianship is excellent but I don't like the singer's voice very much

With The Beatles by Beatles
Jun 01 2026

The first evidence that the Beatles got better with each album. This is their second and it's an obvious improvement over there first one which was pretty good.

The White Album by Beatles
Jun 02 2026

A flawed classic. I only say that because of Revolution Number 9. But I don't count it when I review the album because it's not a song, it's John and Yoko's questionable work of art. This was the Beatles break from their psychedelic period. They had actually started breaking away from that earlier that year with Lady Madonna, which was a single never released on an album. This album came out much later in 1968 and it definitely changed the way I looked at music. I was 14 and I must have played this album non-stop from morning to night for at least the first 30 days I had it.

I Am a Bird Now by Antony and the Johnsons
Jun 03 2026

I just don't like the singer. I think I would rather listen to Tiny Tim, of Tiptoe Through the Tulips fame, audition for a Broadway musical. The songs were pretty boring also, so it wasn't just his singing. I'll give it two stars because the musicians were good.

Remain In Light by Talking Heads
Jun 04 2026

I was the first amongst all my friends to buy their debut album and I've been hooked ever since. I remember that when I played it for them they all laughed and said these guys would never make it. This is Talking heads at their absolute peak but it is not their only great album. This album proved that the Talking heads were not just David Byrne's backup band

Psychocandy by The Jesus And Mary Chain
Jun 05 2026

These guys from Scotland were a pleasant surprise. They're kind of similar to U2 but they have their own distinct sound and lots of killer songs.

Nevermind by Nirvana
Jun 06 2026

A perfect album. Grunge was one of the last great movements to come out of rock and roll and Nirvana was the most talented of the bunch. Heavy punk and '70s rock and roll influences.

Stripped by Christina Aguilera
Jun 07 2026

Another great voice chooses or is allowed to be chosen for her, the same crap that any female was putting out at the time. You really could substitute Mariah Carey or Janet Jackson and there wouldn't be much difference.

The Grand Tour by George Jones
Jun 08 2026

George Jones is one of the greatest singers of all time, much less just country music. Some of the songs are just average but because George is one of the greatest singers of all time, he turns each one into a country classic. Some of these modern country singers would have felt flat.

Songs Of Leonard Cohen by Leonard Cohen
Jun 09 2026

This man is one of the greatest songwriters to ever put pen to paper. This is his debut album so he sounds much younger but I like him through all the stages of his life. Canada's answer to Bob Dylan.

Pet Sounds by The Beach Boys
Jun 10 2026

Many people name this as the best album ever. I don't know about that but it's definitely in my top 10. I had the pleasure of seeing the Beach Boys live in 1974, opening up for Crosby, Stills, Nash & Young in Dallas Texas. I love CSN&Y but the Beach Boys definitely stole that show. They had that entire stadium of cowboys rocking. I then had the pleasure in more recent years to see Brian Wilson live on two separate occasions. Of course, he was amazing. Rest in peace to one of the greatest songwriters of all time

Exodus by Bob Marley & The Wailers
Jun 11 2026

This guy is reggae incarnate. You can't listen to any of his songs and feel bad. You don't have to be stoned but as with any music, it definitely helps. This is the album that broke him into the mainstream and every song is a banger, especially my favorite, One Love.

Pink Moon by Nick Drake
Jun 12 2026

Sorry, but British folk singers are not my type. I find it rather boring.

Violent Femmes by Violent Femmes
Jun 13 2026

I love this album. It mixes '80s alternative with rock and blues. They even quote Willie Dixon in Gone Daddy Gone.

Fear and Whiskey by Mekons
Jun 20 2026

A great album by these guys. It has a strong punk element with a mixture of country. Especially the last song, Lost Highway which Hank Williams made popular.

Safe As Milk by Captain Beefheart & His Magic Band
Jun 21 2026

I don't know what Frank Zappa, whose music I love, saw in this guy, but to me he is unlistenable.

Jun 22 2026

I thought I was going to be listening to some Spacey type music but all of these songs had structure and they all had great hooks. Definitely a banger.

Moondance by Van Morrison
Jun 23 2026

What can you say about Van the Man? The guy oozes soul from every pore in his body. This is one of many classic albums he has. A body of work that will stand the test of time.

Truth by Jeff Beck
Jun 24 2026

One of the most underrated guitar players ever. At least, in the public eye. He was highly respected by his peers. If his band would have stayed together, they would have given Led Zeppelin a run for their money. But Jeff had the bad luck to have an incredible lead singer who had solo aspirations. This is Rod Stewart's debut and it's quite an eye opener. Blues rock at it's best

2112 by Rush
Jun 25 2026

I highly respect their musical abilities but I cannot get past Geddi Lee's voice. To me, he has one of the most irritating voices ever. I thought this way when they first came out and I still think it after listening to this album. I saw them in concert and was not impressed. There sound system was very muddy. This was back in 1973 or 4.

Slippery When Wet by Bon Jovi
Jun 26 2026

This is the album for you if you like generic, formulaic rock. I'll give it two because there's a couple of decent songs on there. You Give Love a Bad Name is actually a decent song

Bad by Michael Jackson
Jun 27 2026

I still think his best album is his first solo album, Off The Wall but this album is pretty good. I think I might even like it better than Thriller. The only musician I like in Guns n' Roses, Slash, does a pretty good job on songs that he appears on. Michael's voice is probably the best I've ever heard it.

Disraeli Gears by Cream
Jun 28 2026

I have loved this band from the minute they came out. I believe they only released three studio albums but man, the music that was on these records was so ahead of its time. Eric Clapton is at his finest, Ginger Baker is one of the top three drummers in rock history and Jack Bruce is excellent as always on the bass and vocals. Blues rock at its finest.

Seventeen Seconds by The Cure
Jun 29 2026

I only got into these guys a few years ago. Although the singer does sound a lot like Ric Ocasek from the Cars, which I'm not saying is a bad thing, the songs are all first rate. Just like the Cars, very catchy and New Wave. I think the guitar work is outstanding.

Band On The Run by Paul McCartney and Wings
Jun 30 2026

What can I say that hasn't already been said? This album is a classic among classics. Definitely Paul's best solo work. From the first track to the last track, nothing but bangers. His follow-up, Venus and Mars was almost as good. I hope it's on this list.

Axis: Bold As Love by Jimi Hendrix
Jul 01 2026

Listening to Jimi today, it's hard to believe that he was producing this sound in 1967. His follow-up to his debut album, Are You Experienced?, Axis: Bold As Love continues his journey into the unknown. The only reason some people consider Stevie Ray Vaughan a better guitarist is because the video quality of Jimi back then was not that good. But listening to his albums should win over even the most hardcore SRV fan. I Love Stevie but long live Jimi.

Now I Got Worry by The Jon Spencer Blues Explosion
Jul 02 2026

An interesting take on punk, blues and rock 'n' roll. You would think that at least one of those genres wouldn't fit but they do. This guy doesn't do ballads. Every song is upbeat and energetic and I like his voice.

Scream, Dracula, Scream by Rocket From The Crypt
Jul 03 2026

Punk rock that actually has a decent singer and good melodies. These guys rock and the songs are all catchy.

The Score by Fugees
Jul 04 2026

We didn't need to hear a rap version of Killing Me Softly. We have the Roberta Flack version which is lovely enough.

Faith by George Michael
Jul 05 2026

This is a perfect example of rock 'n' soul music. George Michael had one of the finest voices of his or any other generation. I think Father Figure is my favorite.

Aqualung by Jethro Tull
Jul 06 2026

I've listened to this album since I was a sophomore in high school, which is when it came out. A staple in any music lovers library. Every song stands on its own. Ian Anderson is a force of nature. Watching him stand on one leg and play the flute was one of the highlights of my life. Lol.

The singer is just okay but the wall of sound they create with the guitars and other instruments is enough to carry him through. It helps that the songs are all quite good.

A Girl Called Dusty by Dusty Springfield
Jul 08 2026

She has a strong voice and all of her choices of songs are excellent but in most cases I'd rather hear the original. Better to listen to a greatest hits album by her. I'd give it three and a half if I could but I can't give it four.

Snivilisation by Orbital

I'll keep this record in mind the next time I want to put on headphones and hear beeping noises for the next hour.

Electric Music For The Mind And Body by Country Joe & The Fish
Jul 10 2026

One of the quintessential soundtracks of the'60s. If you want to know what the hippies were listening to circa 67 to 70, this is a must. Sweet Lorraine is a standout.

Californication by Red Hot Chili Peppers
Jul 11 2026

First, let me make something very clear. These guys are not a funk band. They wouldn't know funk if James Brown put his Good Foot up their ass. This is plastic funk for people who either haven't heard the real thing or can't handle the real thing. I hate this band.

Fire Of Love by The Gun Club
Jul 12 2026

These guys are a perfect mixture of punk and Blues. I like everything about this album and I had never even heard of these guys before.

Scott 4 by Scott Walker
Jul 13 2026

I only knew this guy from two hits he had with the Walker Brothers. I really like this album. It's a really good example of baroque pop and he has a really strong voice.

Bridge Over Troubled Water by Simon & Garfunkel
Jul 14 2026

What can you say about a perfect album? Just on the strength of the title track alone, this album would get a four. It's one of the top 10 songs every written in my opinion. Art Garfunkel has the voice of a heavenly choir. Paul Simon's songwriting abilities have never been better, at least up to that point. Both of these guys are American treasuries.

Fleet Foxes by Fleet Foxes
Jul 15 2026

A nice blend of alternative and folk. They're harmonies rival the Beach Boys.

1984 by Van Halen
Jul 16 2026

The last great album they made with David Lee Roth. Almost as good as their debut album.

Low-Life by New Order
Jul 17 2026

British pop. Sometimes it makes for great music and sometimes it's just plain boring. This album is in the latter category.

Lost In The Dream by The War On Drugs
Jul 18 2026

Nothing horrible on this album but nothing that stands out either. Just kind of boring.

This album did not get my attention until about the third song in. Then they turned up the funk volume and started groovin'.

Blunderbuss by Jack White
Jul 21 2026

The White Stripes, along with the Black Keys were two of the last few groups in the rock and roll era to make a difference. Jack White is an eccentric musical genius and I love just about everything he does. This album is banger after banger. Five and a half stars if I could give it to them

Darkdancer by Les Rythmes Digitales
Jul 22 2026

This music is nothing but repetitive garbage. I struggled to get through it.

This Is Fats Domino by Fats Domino
Jul 23 2026

It's a little dated but it's still a fine album of the type of boogie woogie that Fats was known for. At the time this album was groundbreaking and it still deserves a four.

Madman Across The Water by Elton John
Jul 24 2026

Possibly my favorite album by Elton. That position rotates to back and forth between salmon and Yellow Brick Road. But, as far as elton's early stuff, this album is his best. His music was more dramatic back then and that's what I liked about it.

Led Zeppelin II by Led Zeppelin
Jul 25 2026

Led Zeppelin's perfect follow-up to their perfect debut album. Starting with Whole Lotta Love, it's banger after banger until the end. This album refines the Led Zeppelin sound even more than the first album did. They are still heavy on the blues but you can hear more rock and roll in this album than the first.

Jul 26 2026

Normally, I don't like strong British accents when it comes to folk singing. However, I am a big fan of Richard Thompson and this guy is almost as good as he is. Like Richard, he blends folk and electric guitars into a sound worth listening to.

B-52's by The B-52's
Jul 27 2026

You either hate them or you love them. Consider me in the latter category. They started about the time the Talking Heads and a few other quirky bands like the Cars were becoming well known. I would have loved to have seen those three bands together.

Deep Purple In Rock by Deep Purple
Jul 28 2026

This is the beginning of the classic Deep Purple lineup. It's the album where they finally developed their sound and became one of the titans of heavy metal / hard rock. Compare this to what they call heavy metal today and it's apparent how far the genre has deteriorated. Once the blues element was taken out of it, it became a different genre. One I can't listen to.

Tellin’ Stories by The Charlatans
Jul 29 2026

Never heard of these guys but they rock.

Imagine by John Lennon
Jul 30 2026

Any album that contains a song as powerful as Imagine would be a classic. However, the album is full of songs that come close. Imagine a world that still had John Lennon in it. The music that he could have made. The lives that he could have touched

Everybody Knows This Is Nowhere by Neil Young & Crazy Horse
Aug 01 2026

Neil's debut album with Crazy Horse. Cinnamon Girl, Down By The River and Cowgirl In The Sand alone would have made this a classic album. However, every song on here is top notch.

Aug 02 2026

I didn't know what to expect when I started listening to this but in spite of that, it drew me in to the landscape it was trying to paint. I probably wouldn't listen to any individual song but I will definitely listen to the album as a whole.
