Not an album/band I have listened to but enjoyed my listen

Didn't really know what to expect from Thin Lizzy. But knew some of the songs. All in all enjoyed the album - I could here so many bands from the 80s in it though.

I remember my best friend from when I was 10 having this album—I don't remember anything but the cover, though. Enjoying the album, but none of the tracks really jumped out and grabbed me

Not heard the Pixies before. Enjoyed the album. I don't think I can rate it above four as for me (and based on two listens only) it doesn't come together as an experience it's more a collection of songs.

Another solid - it's fine/good this is an album I've played a few times.

I like prog rock and I cannot lie! This dipped to a 2 "Just musicians noodling around with no real plans" to a 4 "transported to a fantasy world" No real suprise I ended up in the middle (again)

This was a suprise - I wasn't expecting an almost ambient album. Again I started with not really enjoying this but came around by the end of the album.

Not heard of Manu Chao before. I enjoyed it a lot.

Great stuff - I'd have like lyrics as well but loved listening to something new.

I knew the famous songs and enjoyed the vibe of the album - but it didn't grab me

I like but don't love blues. Enjoyed my listen and will keep the album in mind when I'm in the mood for more.

Even as a prog rock fan this was a step to far for me. I wonder if it would score more if I listened a few times? Maybe.

I've never really listened to Black Sabbath before - but if their music is like this then I have been missing out.

It's fine - but an album of covers played on bongos just made me want to here some of the originals

Another album from the sixties that I've enjoyed. In the end most of the songs sounded the same.

Actually enjoyed this more than I expected. I still don't really get the screaming

Despite my love of Gunfighter ballads this wasn't for me. (Maybe if they shot a few more people)

It's a great album - I wondered if it would score a five. But in the end a it was a strong four.

I've heard of MC5 but never listened to an album. This is an album that should make anyone think "I can play music".

Ab album that was pretty much exactly what I expected and was fine/good

Again enjoyed it more than expected. Once again I was surprised that the album was as old as it was.

Another good album. One that might grow on me with more listens or if I discovered more about the songs/stories

Wow are all Coldplay albums this melancholy? Didn't hate it but kind of needed a hug after listening!

I. Fully acknowledge that one of the reasons I mark this so high is I've been listening to it since I was 20. But as a concept album and a piece of story telling I think I this is such a great album

I ended up listening to this along with Life of a Showgirl.(A track from one then a track from the other) Oddly enough this increased my enjoyment of both and pushed Elvis upto a four.

I think I maybe on a nother day I'd have enjoyed this more. But for today it was background music at best

I love Cowboy ballads. And this is one of my favourite albums

It just didn't grab me this time - I suspect it would only get better with further listen

Another gently atmospheric album - that I'm pretty sure would score higher after more listens.

Probably the newest Neil Young album I know well. I actually enjoyed it more than I expected

Pretty much what I expected. Enjoyed it but hasn't made me want to explore more Cream.

As seems to be quite common - I enjoyed the album but it hasn't made me want to track down more of their stuff.

I can see why this is so highly rated.

Not what I expected. Made me think of Hawkwind and then there was a song called "moterhead" so maybe it makes some sense 🙂

This might be my favourite Beatles album.

When it came up I was sure I loved this album - after a listen I'm not as sure. The title track and Sister Ray keeps it as a four though

I was ready to love this - but honestly it was a collection of not favourite versions of my not favourite Christmas songs.

After White Light White Heat letting me down I was worried about this one. Didn't need to be fantastic album.

Very ambient background vibes - but so recognisable as Kraftwerk. I know some of their other albums more but it was a great listen.

Honestly it feels like a parody of itself but the "hits" gets it to a three for me

Nice - pretty much what I'd expect if I asked AI to invent music by a band called Boston.

Have always avoided Nirvana as all the cool kids seemed fans. This was a pleasant suprise

A great voice - I feel that I'd score it higher if I understood the lyrics - but that's my issue not theirs

Fun album - I will dig into the "story" on further listens. I was struck by how similar some of the vocals were to Neil Young

Enjoyable - Kiss the teacher gave me pause hopefully it's sung by a colleague not a student

Certainly Psychedelic - It sounds a like a mashup of the musical styles that would follow I'm the next 30 years.

Honestly not a big deep purple fan but I can see the appeal

I always find CCR heavier than I expect - I think in my head I confuse them with Crosby, Stills and Nash

I worry a little that it I look too closely I to the lyrics they might be a little much. But it's a great listen - 5 stars

I didn't really enjoy the previous Amy Winehouse album (frank) but this was great.

The singles are great and I enjoyed the rest of the album - I'd love to have heard some of these live back in the day

Never heard of Wilco before and enjoyed Billy Bragg with an American twang - good stuff

Honestly this is the album I think of if asked about Taylor Swift. It's not my favourite (I think that might be Life of a Showgirl) but it is very very good.

Sounded like a lot of stuff I like. Was less rock than I'd expected

Funk prog - I didn't hate it but some of it I didn't enjoy - it made me a little anxious

I had forgotten about the Gang of Four. But this was an album I listened to a lot back into the mid 80's. Now it sounds a little forced rather than raw.

Another album I worry that some of the themes are not ones I should be enjoying - but on a first listen I liked it quite a lot.

The title track of the album might well be my least favourite song ever. In the end I enjoyed this quite a bit more than I expected. Did anyone else hear "A day in the life* during Jealous Guy?

I don't think I'm ever going to be a massive fan of the Stones but I can understand what people see in them.

I think it probably fades so far into the background that it only really deserves a 3. But nostalgia and just how catchy The Model is means I'm happy to give it a 4.

This was so close to a two - it's more performance piece than an album.

I started this album thinking "come on Phyl you can't score every Bowie album a five". Turns maybe I can. I'm a fan of the early more whimsical Bowie as represented by the second half of the album, but I understand it's not for everyone.

I've always thought I'd missed out on Oasis but honestly I just don't really like it. I can't help think that they sound like someone doing an impression of earlier bands but in a fake Manchester accent.

Have to admit that Blues tracks all sound the same to me. This was great but in the end it's just generic blues.

Found it a little bland. Start! and That's Entertainment stood out. It was interesting that a couple of tracks really made me think of 70's Bowie

I'm not familiar with Tori Amos so was quite excited to listen to this album. But despite sounding a bit like Kate Bush at times it just kind of went on and on. (Still gets a three though!)

This started as a five for me but after a while I think I have to move it to a four as it's background music really

I love this. I think in the end it gets a five. While it perhaps loses a point (or even two) because it honestly slips into the background - I'm giving it an extra point because it's art and sometimes I can recognise the art even if I don't fully appreciate it.

This grew on me more with each listen - I'm going to give it a five (only just but a five all the same)

I was very interested to listen to this, Simple Minds is yet another band which passed me by. In the end I was a little disappointed - it felt like an album of intros that never really got started.

I had wondered what "shoegaze" was - well now I know and I'm not sure I like it.
