This dipped to a 2 "Just musicians noodling around with no real plans" to a 4 "transported to a fantasy world"
No real suprise I ended up in the middle (again)

Another solid - it's fine/good this is an album I've played a few times.
King Crimson

The Velvet Underground
5/5

Röyksopp
3/5
Interesting but not really my thing

Queen
3/5
Surprised how much I didn't like this
Cat Stevens
3/5
I like acat Stevens but don't really get the level of others appreciation of him.
Queen
4/5
Very much hit and miss. Feels like an prog rock album and a throw away one mashed together.
However two or three of the songs push it to a four

3/5
Not really my thing but I enjoyed it

Didn't click with me and some of the lyrics made me feel a little uneasy
Pixies
3/5
Enjoyed without anything really standing out
Snoop Dogg
1/5
Sigh even given "it was thirty years ago" and "maybe it's supposed to be art/irony". The misogyny means this can only score 1
David Bowie
4/5
A little too noodley/art house to get five points but still a great listen
Pentangle
3/5
Started out as a nice change of pace and as I listened I enjoyed it more and more.
D'Angelo
2/5
Enjoyed it in background music kinda way
Nina Simone
4/5
There are Nina Simone albums I enjoy more but this was great
Amy Winehouse
2/5
Was expecting to really enjoy this but in the end I found it a bit monotonous.

It was fine
Justice

Surprised myself by really enjoying this.
Waylon Jennings
3/5

Apart from the two famous songs this is my least favorite Bowie style I think.
Ali Farka Touré
3/5
Interesting - I did like the African mixed with blues vibe
Iron Maiden
3/5
I can hear later bands in this and can understand why it's popular
Madonna
3/5

3/5
I've to fall in love with Jazz but this is pretty good
Johnny Cash
4/5

Goldfrapp
3/5
Ethereal pop
Boston
3/5
Nice - pretty much what I'd expect if I asked AI to invent music by a band called Boston.
Nirvana
4/5
Have always avoided Nirvana as all the cool kids seemed fans. This was a pleasant suprise
Dire Straits
4/5
As good as I'd hoped it would be
Michael Kiwanuka
3/5
More Jazz than Rock I think but enjoyable all the same
Paul Revere & The Raiders
4/5
Another really good album by a band I'd never heard of.
Elis Regina
3/5
A great voice - I feel that I'd score it higher if I understood the lyrics - but that's my issue not theirs
The Flaming Lips
4/5
Fun album - I will dig into the "story" on further listens. I was struck by how similar some of the vocals were to Neil Young
ABBA
4/5
Enjoyable - Kiss the teacher gave me pause hopefully it's sung by a colleague not a student
The 13th Floor Elevators
3/5
Certainly Psychedelic - It sounds a like a mashup of the musical styles that would follow I'm the next 30 years.
Solomon Burke
4/5
Loved it
Michael Jackson
4/5
I can't deny the appeal of this. Some absolutely classic songs.
David Bowie
5/5
Fantastic album, certainly my favourite of the Berlin Trilogy.

3/5
Ethereal - I suspect it would score higher as I listened more
Yeah Yeah Yeahs
3/5
Didn't really give this the time it deserved but I enjoyed it and will come back to it
Bill Callahan
3/5
Not sure what to think about this one
Deep Purple
3/5
Honestly not a big deep purple fan but I can see the appeal
Creedence Clearwater Revival
3/5
I always find CCR heavier than I expect - I think in my head I confuse them with Crosby, Stills and Nash
Prince
5/5
I worry a little that it I look too closely I to the lyrics they might be a little much. But it's a great listen - 5 stars
Todd Rundgren
3/5
This grew on me as I listened - I'm still not sure if it's really a 3 (could be a 2 or a 4)
3/5
Background but quite nice background
Mike Oldfield
4/5
I can remember how cool this was back in the day
5/5

Amy Winehouse
4/5
I didn't really enjoy the previous Amy Winehouse album (frank) but this was great.
Dexys Midnight Runners
4/5
The singles are great and I enjoyed the rest of the album - I'd love to have heard some of these live back in the day
Billy Bragg
4/5
Never heard of Wilco before and enjoyed Billy Bragg with an American twang - good stuff
Taylor Swift
5/5
Honestly this is the album I think of if asked about Taylor Swift. It's not my favourite (I think that might be Life of a Showgirl) but it is very very good.
The War On Drugs
3/5
Sounded like a lot of stuff I like. Was less rock than I'd expected
Funkadelic
2/5
Funk prog - I didn't hate it but some of it I didn't enjoy - it made me a little anxious
Gang Of Four
3/5
I had forgotten about the Gang of Four. But this was an album I listened to a lot back into the mid 80's.
Now it sounds a little forced rather than raw.
Ghostface Killah
3/5
Another album I worry that some of the themes are not ones I should be enjoying - but on a first listen I liked it quite a lot.
John Lennon
3/5
The title track of the album might well be my least favourite song ever. In the end I enjoyed this quite a bit more than I expected. Did anyone else hear "A day in the life* during Jealous Guy?
The Rolling Stones
4/5
I don't think I'm ever going to be a massive fan of the Stones but I can understand what people see in them.
Kraftwerk
4/5
I think it probably fades so far into the background that it only really deserves a 3. But nostalgia and just how catchy The Model is means I'm happy to give it a 4.
Emerson, Lake & Palmer
3/5
Very enjoyable background
Jeff Beck
3/5
It's not really my favourite genre but I can't really fault it
Joan Baez
4/5
Enjoyed this a lot. She does have a great voice and the simple production means it shines here
Kendrick Lamar
3/5
This was so close to a two - it's more performance piece than an album.
David Bowie
5/5
I started this album thinking "come on Phyl you can't score every Bowie album a five". Turns maybe I can. I'm a fan of the early more whimsical Bowie as represented by the second half of the album, but I understand it's not for everyone.
Destiny's Child
4/5
Was surprised by just how much I enjoyed this album. I think its pretty front loaded but enjoyed it all
Peter Gabriel
4/5
Not my favourite of his albums from that period but so close. I'm not sure why I'm holding off on giving it a five but there you go.
Morrissey
2/5
I didn't really enjoy the album but can't quite put my finger on why.
Beatles
3/5
An interesting listen - I can almost imagine the band starting to play stuff they were more interested in as they finished the album
Fleet Foxes
3/5
Enjoyed the album but it almost feels bad scoring it a three after giving With The Beatles that yesterday.
Sade
4/5
Another album I knew from back in the day. Had forgotten how much I enjoyed it - nice to be reminded
James Taylor
2/5
Didn't really hit with me - nothing wrong with it but not an album. I'll go back to. (2 seems a low score but I've scored albums I've enjoyed more a 3)
Brian Eno
3/5
Kind of exactly what I expected - it might grow on me with more listens. A three but only just
Johnny Cash
4/5
Talking Heads
4/5
In the end Once in a Lifetime drags this up to a four.
The Sabres Of Paradise
3/5
Wasn't available on Spotify so was a little harder to listen to. Enjoyed it and suspect it would grow on me
Bob Marley & The Wailers
3/5
Not really my thing. I always enjoy about the first twenty minutes and then start to get a bit bored.
OutKast
3/5
Feels a lot like they're cheating by sneaking two albums into one listing, but overall I enjoyed it I think I preferred the the second album but it averages out with a three
Kendrick Lamar
2/5
Didn't click with me
Oasis
2/5
I've always thought I'd missed out on Oasis but honestly I just don't really like it. I can't help think that they sound like someone doing an impression of earlier bands but in a fake Manchester accent.
