Bossanova by Pixies
Feb 13 2026

Enjoyed without anything really standing out

Doggystyle by Snoop Dogg
Feb 16 2026

Sigh even given "it was thirty years ago" and "maybe it's supposed to be art/irony". The misogyny means this can only score 1

Station To Station by David Bowie
Feb 17 2026

A little too noodley/art house to get five points but still a great listen

Basket of Light by Pentangle
Feb 18 2026

Never heard of Wilco before and enjoyed Billy Bragg with an American twang - good stuff

Apr 27 2026

I don't think I'm ever going to be a massive fan of the Stones but I can understand what people see in them.

The Man Machine by Kraftwerk
Apr 28 2026

I think it probably fades so far into the background that it only really deserves a 3. But nostalgia and just how catchy The Model is means I'm happy to give it a 4.

Truth by Jeff Beck
Apr 30 2026

It's not really my favourite genre but I can't really fault it

May 01 2026

Enjoyed this a lot. She does have a great voice and the simple production means it shines here

To Pimp A Butterfly by Kendrick Lamar
May 04 2026

This was so close to a two - it's more performance piece than an album.

Hunky Dory by David Bowie
May 05 2026

Was surprised by just how much I enjoyed this album. I think its pretty front loaded but enjoyed it all

Your Arsenal by Morrissey
May 08 2026

I didn't really enjoy the album but can't quite put my finger on why.

With The Beatles by Beatles
May 11 2026

An interesting listen - I can almost imagine the band starting to play stuff they were more interested in as they finished the album

Fleet Foxes by Fleet Foxes
May 12 2026

Enjoyed the album but it almost feels bad scoring it a three after giving With The Beatles that yesterday.

Diamond Life by Sade
May 13 2026

Another album I knew from back in the day. Had forgotten how much I enjoyed it - nice to be reminded

Sweet Baby James by James Taylor
May 14 2026

Didn't really hit with me - nothing wrong with it but not an album. I'll go back to. (2 seems a low score but I've scored albums I've enjoyed more a 3)

May 15 2026

Kind of exactly what I expected - it might grow on me with more listens. A three but only just

Remain In Light by Talking Heads
May 19 2026

In the end Once in a Lifetime drags this up to a four.

Haunted Dancehall by The Sabres Of Paradise
May 20 2026

Wasn't available on Spotify so was a little harder to listen to. Enjoyed it and suspect it would grow on me

Catch A Fire by Bob Marley & The Wailers
May 21 2026

Not really my thing. I always enjoy about the first twenty minutes and then start to get a bit bored.

May 22 2026

Feels a lot like they're cheating by sneaking two albums into one listing, but overall I enjoyed it I think I preferred the the second album but it averages out with a three

Definitely Maybe by Oasis
May 26 2026

I've always thought I'd missed out on Oasis but honestly I just don't really like it. I can't help think that they sound like someone doing an impression of earlier bands but in a fake Manchester accent.

The Libertines by The Libertines
May 27 2026

Much lighter than I expected - great stuff

Take Me Apart by Kelela
May 28 2026

Another "fine but not for me" album

Morrison Hotel by The Doors
May 29 2026

The Doors are always more Blues than I expect. Enjoyed this a lot

Crime Of The Century by Supertramp
Jun 02 2026

Came as a great suprise to me! Maybe not really a five but even after a second listen through I was still impressed

Shaka Zulu by Ladysmith Black Mambazo
Jun 03 2026

Slipped into the background a bit but it's an album I will listen to again.

Elastica by Elastica
Jun 04 2026

I just didn't enjoy this - fully expected to and I'm not quite sure why.

S.F. Sorrow by The Pretty Things
Jun 05 2026

Not really what I expected but I enjoyed it

Aftermath by The Rolling Stones
Jun 08 2026

This is making me rethink my "not really my thing" position on the Rolling Stones - really enjoyed this

Live At The Regal by B.B. King
Jun 09 2026

Have to admit that Blues tracks all sound the same to me. This was great but in the end it's just generic blues.

Sound Affects by The Jam
Jun 10 2026

Found it a little bland. Start! and That's Entertainment stood out. It was interesting that a couple of tracks really made me think of 70's Bowie

Little Earthquakes by Tori Amos
Jun 11 2026

I'm not familiar with Tori Amos so was quite excited to listen to this album. But despite sounding a bit like Kate Bush at times it just kind of went on and on. (Still gets a three though!)

Achtung Baby by U2
Jun 16 2026

I feel I should like this more

Nothing's Shocking by Jane's Addiction

Yank Crime by Drive Like Jehu
Jun 18 2026

Just didn't click with me

Bummed by Happy Mondays
Jun 19 2026

Im going to come back to this as I didn't give it a fair chance

Ellington at Newport by Duke Ellington
Jun 22 2026

In the end it's still jazz that ends up as background nusic

The Score by Fugees
Jun 24 2026

Enjoyed this but not sure it I'd listen to it in full again

The New Tango by Astor Piazzolla
Jun 25 2026

1984 by Van Halen
Jun 29 2026

Jump pulls this up to a three - it's fine but ....

Elvis Is Back by Elvis Presley
Jul 01 2026

Always seem to enjoy Elvis more than I expect to - Might just me nostalgia I guess

Blackstar by David Bowie
Jul 03 2026

I really struggled to rate this. It's an album that I always feel I need to study more to really appreciate

American Idiot by Green Day
Jul 07 2026

This was a pleasant surprise - I've always kind of avoided Green Day

The Visitors by ABBA
Jul 08 2026

Don't know his album as well as Arrival - but it's very good

Reggatta De Blanc by The Police
Jul 09 2026

Didn't expect to enjoy this as much as I did - it almost got a 5 but not quite

A Little Deeper by Ms. Dynamite
Jul 10 2026

Enjoyed it. Will stay on my listen to in the background list

Tidal by Fiona Apple
Jul 13 2026

Never heard of her before - really enjoyed the album

Band On The Run by Paul McCartney and Wings
Jul 14 2026

It's a really odd collection of songs - feels a bit like 20 different styles crammed into 10 songs. That said I enjoyed it

Queen II by Queen
Jul 15 2026

Debate scoring this a four but in the end I didn't enjoy it enough - I think there are a few Queen albums I'd listen to rather than this one.

Green Onions by Booker T. & The MG's
Jul 16 2026

This started as a five for me but after a while I think I have to move it to a four as it's background music really

Ghosteen by Nick Cave & The Bad Seeds
Jul 17 2026

I love this. I think in the end it gets a five. While it perhaps loses a point (or even two) because it honestly slips into the background - I'm giving it an extra point because it's art and sometimes I can recognise the art even if I don't fully appreciate it.

My Generation by The Who
Jul 20 2026

This grew on me more with each listen - I'm going to give it a five (only just but a five all the same)

Illinois by Sufjan Stevens
Jul 21 2026

Another album I suspect would really reward repeated listening. Felt like a film sound track a lot of the time

Jul 22 2026

I was very interested to listen to this, Simple Minds is yet another band which passed me by. In the end I was a little disappointed - it felt like an album of intros that never really got started.

Nowhere by Ride
Jul 23 2026

I had wondered what "shoegaze" was - well now I know and I'm not sure I like it.

Vespertine by Björk
Jul 24 2026

Didn't get on with this - it gets a 3 as I feel it has artistic merit even if I'm not keen.

Ill Communication by Beastie Boys
Jul 28 2026

Enjoyed this way more than I expected to. (I worry that if I look more into the lyrics i might feel differently)

Off The Wall by Michael Jackson
Jul 29 2026

Enjoyed it all - not the biggest fan of disco but I'd say this is a good example of it.

Music in Exile by Songhoy Blues
Jul 30 2026

Fantastic - I suspect I actually enjoy blues more when I don't understand the language its sung in. Looking forward to listening to more of their stuff.

G. Love And Special Sauce by G. Love & Special Sauce
Jul 31 2026

Didn't grab me - But maybe if I listened a few more times it would grow on me

The Band by The Band
Aug 03 2026

Nothing really stood out but I enjoyed it

Cheap Thrills by Big Brother & The Holding Company
Aug 04 2026

Really enjoyed this - pushed up to a four by the cover which is great

Cut by The Slits
Aug 06 2026

Almost more reggae thank punk - which put me off. But ai warmed to it and the cover of I heard on the grapevine pushed this from a three to a four for me

25 by Adele
Aug 07 2026

Not my top Adele album but she is an amazing singer

Celebrity Skin by Hole
Aug 11 2026

Enjoyable - was expecting more punk

There's A Riot Goin' On by Sly & The Family Stone
Aug 13 2026

Soul and funk are not really my jam but I can see the appeal here

Porcupine by Echo And The Bunnymen
Aug 14 2026

For some reason I just don't gell with Echo and the Bunnymen as much as I do with other similar bands of the time.
