Popular Reviews

Run-D.M.C. by Run-D.M.C.

While this is their debut and there are some absolute classics showing off Run and DMC's rhymes, this is the Jam Master Jay show. This set the bar for what rap could be moving forward. Lags a bit but cannot wait to revisit their second album! 4/5

Metallica by Metallica

The hits are amazing. The rest is pretty samey. 4/5

Welcome To The Pleasuredome by Frankie Goes To Hollywood

Didn't realize this was partially a covers album. What theming! Great surprise. 4/5

1-Star Albums (15)

All Ratings (227)

Back To Black by Amy Winehouse
Dec 28 2025

Would be 5 if Rehab wasn't here. Vibed with the rest. Three songs added to my favorites.

Blood Sugar Sex Magik by Red Hot Chili Peppers
Dec 29 2025

I remember liking this better. Too many useless songs. A few atrocious ones, including Sir Psycho Sexy and Apache Rose Peacock.

Sign 'O' The Times by Prince
Dec 30 2025

Six new favorites. Who knew that I'd be taken to church today by Prince? And why had it been 48 years for me to hear The Cross?!? This song could've been on my top 25 list for years now! This album builds and gets better and better. 5/5

OK Computer by Radiohead
Dec 31 2025

Not a single bad song on this album, flows nicely and quite a few bangers. Second listen to this album and don't know why I don't own it

The White Album by Beatles
Jan 01 2026

15 favorites but also my two least favorite Beatles songs. Makes that a 4/5.

C'est Chic by CHIC
Jan 02 2026

One song added to my favs and it wasn't Le Freak. Really enjoyed Savoir Faire. Disco/Funk are not really my genes but this was pleasant enough. 3/5

Home Is Where The Music Is by Hugh Masekela
Jan 03 2026

I really wish we could do half ratings because this isn't a 3 but it's not a 4 for me either. Either way, I tried listening to this last night while cleaning. Wasn't connecting. Listened during work today: definitely a vibe. Didn't favorite anything but there really wasn't a track I disliked, either. 3.5/5

Parallel Lines by Blondie
Jan 04 2026

Discovered two new liked songs and rediscovered Hanging on the Telephone. 5 favorited songs and a reminder of how powerful Debbie Harry's voice can be...5/5.

Traffic by Traffic
Jan 05 2026

3 new favorites but honestly, it all felt samey. That being said, really like Winwood's voice. I do like how light the album feels with the wind instruments. 3/5

Court And Spark by Joni Mitchell
Jan 06 2026

Guitar playing was nice but her message goes right over my head. This is definitely not for me. 2/5

Planet Rock: The Album by Afrika Bambaataa
Jan 07 2026

Even my love of the song Planet Rock cannot redeem this album. I definitely do not see the influence this had on anything else. The beats are boring, the raps' cadence monotonous and the lyrics were trite. Easy 1/5

The Only Ones by The Only Ones
Jan 08 2026

Finally, after what felt like forever in the blahs, this album comes around and knocks me off my feet. Like a combination of The Velvet Underground, Bruce Springsteen and Pink Floyd, with a little Clash thrown in. 3 new favorites but not a single tune disliked, including the three bonus tracks. 4.5/5

Ellington at Newport by Duke Ellington
Jan 09 2026

Couldn't find the original version on Amazon so I listened to the extended reissue. Eye opening, only lagged a little bit. Really thinking that jazz is something I enjoy but not individual pieces. 3/5

Skylarking by XTC
Jan 11 2026

Two new favorites but really found the whole album pleasant. 4/5

Joan Armatrading by Joan Armatrading
Jan 12 2026

4 new favs. The better Joni Mitchell, the one I can relate to more. This album came out of nowhere and surprised me! 4.5/5

Harvest by Neil Young
Jan 13 2026

Started slow but love the 3 hits. Alabama and Words were nice surprises. 4/5

Back to Basics by Christina Aguilera
Jan 14 2026

Is this a bloated album? Yes, of course it is. But this could've been one hell of a single album. I ended up adding around 10 songs from this to my liked list. Not a 4 in this form. 3.5/5

Moondance by Van Morrison
Jan 15 2026

I've always loved the first half of this album, wishing the second half was as good. But oh what a first half.... 4/5

Peter Gabriel 3 by Peter Gabriel
Jan 16 2026

The first song was a horrible way to start the album but then it got better. Two absolute bangers on here

The Queen Is Dead by The Smiths
Jan 17 2026

*Might need a relisten* Heard some Smiths before. But this just didn't connect with me. 2/5

Brutal Youth by Elvis Costello
Jan 18 2026

Holy shit this was a slog! I kinda liked two of the songs out of 15. The rest were either forgettable or just plain garbage. 1.5/5

Debut by Björk
Jan 19 2026

To be completely honest, I was simply listening to device if this would be a 4 or a 5 for me. I came to Debut late, right when Post was coming out. But I remember watching the video for Army of Me in my hotel in Madrid, realizing how fucking cool she was. I was in love. Lol. So many favorited songs on Debut and the ones that weren't are essential, to connect between the hits. The Anchor Song could possibly be my favorite Björk song at this moment. Easy 5/5

Time Out by The Dave Brubeck Quartet
Jan 20 2026

Still not my thing but not a single song was bad, just none stood out. Will say that I enjoyed the interplay between the piano and the drums 3/5

Basket of Light by Pentangle
Jan 21 2026

Ugh... Late 60s British Hippie Folk is not my jam. I kind of knew this from a podcast that I listen to but this confirms it. Definitely not a fan of Jacqui McShee's nor Bert Jansch. 1/5

Coles Corner by Richard Hawley
Jan 22 2026

This was not at all what I was expecting. Don't know what I was expecting but... Nothing stood out, could've died without hearing this but it wasn't bad, just not much to it. 3/5

Juju by Siouxsie And The Banshees
Jan 23 2026

A few standout tracks. Siouxsie Sioux is a FORCE! Her power carries this album. Gets a little samey but being that it's not super long makes it easier to get through it. 3.5/5

Seventeen Seconds by The Cure
Jan 24 2026

Ah, best in a while and I hadn't even heard a single song from this Cure album! 4 added to favs. 4.5/5

Sunshine Hit Me by The Bees
Jan 25 2026

God, I forgot about this. Used to play this on college radio, along with Beta Band and other Astralwerks stuff. Went by The Band of Bees here. Great chill out music. 4/5

16 Lovers Lane by The Go-Betweens
Jan 26 2026

*Very pleasant. Pop sensibilities. I've heard them many times but not a whole album. Deserves a deeper listen from me to pick up more in the lyrics. 3.5/5 right now for me

Highway 61 Revisited by Bob Dylan
Jan 27 2026

I cannot emphasize this enough: you have to be in the mood to listen. Tried to listen to this yesterday while I was frantically putting together plans for a week. Hated it. And mind you, I've owned this album since the 90s and always quite enjoyed it. Today, while doing manual labor, fantastic! So many great tales. 5/5

Nevermind by Nirvana
Jan 28 2026

Purposely haven't listened to this for years. This album is still amazing. That first half is blisters. But Something in the Way may be one of my top 10 songs of all time. 5/5 easily

Thriller by Michael Jackson
Jan 29 2026

All but two songs are classics and even those are not bad. 5/5 easy

Next by The Sensational Alex Harvey Band
Jan 30 2026

I must've been in the mood for this because I LOVED it. I didn't realize what a huge influence these guys were. 4 new songs on my faves. 5/5

Songs In The Key Of Life by Stevie Wonder
Jan 31 2026

I get it. It's long, it's pastiche. But the whole picture is better than parts. And that's saying something because there are some amazing songs in this album. I identify with Stevie's message here. It's as relevant today as it was then. 4.5/5

Africa Brasil by Jorge Ben Jor
Feb 01 2026

If an album is in a language I don't understand, the instrumentation better be good. And was this ever good! Digging it immensely. 4/5

World Clique by Deee-Lite
Feb 02 2026

Groove Is in the Heart is a jam. The rest...if I was in a dance mood, mayyyyybbbbeeee. But probably not. 2/5

Dirt by Alice In Chains
Feb 03 2026

The highs are really high. The lows are just mediocre, generic sludge rock. Still, not bad. 3/5

Songs Of Love And Hate by Leonard Cohen
Feb 04 2026

Damn! Why did I sleep on Cohen for so long!!! This is just plain beautiful. What a songwriter! 5/5

In Our Heads by Hot Chip
Feb 05 2026

Not my favorite album so far but nowhere near the worst, either. Dig three tracks enough to add them to my likes. Solid 3/5

It's Too Late to Stop Now by Van Morrison
Feb 06 2026

Some songs got better, some were different but Cypress Avenue and Gloria, I feel, were ruined. I LOVE Cypress Avenue but this was too minimal, too extended, too thought over. I enjoyed hearing live Van Morrison, though. Never listened live. Another fine album but not mind blowingly special. 3/5

This Year's Model by Elvis Costello & The Attractions
Feb 07 2026

Hmmm, maybe I don't really like Costello, just some of his songs. Pump It Up is a jam, a few others caught my ears but meh. 2/5

Run-D.M.C. by Run-D.M.C.
Feb 08 2026

While this is their debut and there are some absolute classics showing off Run and DMC's rhymes, this is the Jam Master Jay show. This set the bar for what rap could be moving forward. Lags a bit but cannot wait to revisit their second album! 4/5

Feb 10 2026

The solitary message of this album makes it a hard rate. The first 4 songs are amazing. After that, In God's Country is great, too but the rest is meh. BUT they all fit with the theme... Still going with a 4/5 instead of a 5/5 if that opening rush could've been sustained even for a couple more songs...

Henry's Dream by Nick Cave & The Bad Seeds
Feb 11 2026

I thought nothing would top Murder Ballads. I'm still right but this was close. Very much in the same vein... 4.5/5

Feb 12 2026

I've never got the love for this album. Low End Theory-love it. Midnight Marauders - love it. Love Movement-close to classic. But besides the three big songs, I feel this is overrated. 3/5

Private Dancer by Tina Turner
Feb 14 2026

Two days is a row. I really cannot stand 80s pop. No disrespect to Tina but this is such tepid garbage, very tinny beats, not much bass. What's Love cannot save this from what I must do...1/5

Feb 15 2026

I've tried for 4 days to find what I was missing with this. Is Brimful enjoyable? Sure. Poppy? Sure. But the majority of the rest of this seems like less interesting Brimful OR experiments that just didn't land with me. Solid 2/5

KIWANUKA by Michael Kiwanuka
Feb 16 2026

I hate how I was told how surprisingly good this was by someone on the subreddit. Made my expectations go WAY up, only to be underwhelmed. Not bad but not mind blowing. 3/5

Buena Vista Social Club by Buena Vista Social Club
Feb 17 2026

Ughhhhh, I SO wanted to like this. And I did 5 songs in. But then the rest of the album happened and it SLOWED way down... Could've been a contender. Instead, ended up with a solid 3/5

The Stranger by Billy Joel
Feb 18 2026

Nothing but a 5 is possible when the first 7 tracks of a 9 song album are fire! Didn't realize this album contained so many of his greatest songs!

Feb 19 2026

One of three Dylan albums I had already listened to the whole way through. Masters of War & It's Alright... are two of my favorites of his but I Shall Be Free is so bad. This makes this 4.5/5 round down to 4

My Generation by The Who
Feb 20 2026

I had the Deluxe Edition of this at one time. I love The Who but I don't remember this album being this generic. 3 classics, a lot of fluff. 2.5/5, rounding up because of my affinity for this band.

Abattoir Blues / The Lyre of Orpheus by Nick Cave & The Bad Seeds
Feb 21 2026

I tried so hard to like this but I think the addition of a choir, while complementary to Nick's voice, changed the production style and the musical direction. Added 3 songs to my favorites list, but, on a double CD, that's not much. Sorry, Nick. 2/5

Night Life by Ray Price
Feb 22 2026

I was dreading this. But damn, when Ray lets loose and belts, his voice is beautiful. What a heartfelt album about losing a woman or women. Might be my biggest surprise so far. 4.5/5.

Stardust by Willie Nelson
Feb 24 2026

Another molasses slow album. Why not Red Headed Stranger?!? 2/5

Goo by Sonic Youth
Feb 25 2026

3/5. Some good, some great, some horrible

Tanto Tempo by Bebel Gilberto
Feb 26 2026

Remember playing this in college, mixing it in between my electronica/Indy hip hop sets and my Ñ Alternative sets. Definitely very vibey. 3/5

Out of Step by Minor Threat
Feb 27 2026

*Thought I'd really like this because how much I love Fugazi. But Ian's voice permeates so much more in the dynamics of that group than with Minor Threat. Marking this one for a relisten to pick up on lyrics, which I know are extremely important. * 3/5

On The Beach by Neil Young
Feb 28 2026

I've went back and forth on this one. Is it a perfect one? No, it's not. But Neil's message is loud and clear. I think what makes this a 4 for me and not a 5 is the inconsistent end.

Snivilisation by Orbital
Mar 01 2026

In high school, I started getting into techno/electronica. But I was always more into downtempo or breakbeat or jungle, not trance. But I remember getting a compilation, Trance something Express 3 or 4 and Are We Here? was on there. Then I heard the shorter remix on the MTV Amp compilation and really dug it. Trance still isn't at the top for me but this can really soundtrack a morning. 4/5

The Wildest! by Louis Prima
Mar 02 2026

This is a fun little album! Didn't drag, fun songs. Much better than I assumed. 3/5

Get Behind Me Satan by The White Stripes
Mar 03 2026

The only White Stripes album I don't own anymore. Not that I hate it. I misplaced it. Suffered for years, looking at the empty CD case. Shouldn't have suffered so long. This isn't as great as I remembered. Some highs, some lows. Not fantastic, just average

She's So Unusual by Cyndi Lauper
Mar 04 2026

That 3 song stretch in the middle is huge, along with Girls...but those four songs just balance this album out. The other songs are pretty meh. 3.5/5

BEYONCÉ by Beyoncé
Mar 05 2026

"Modern" R&B is really not my thing. That being said, I found some good stuff on here. Just not enough to move this above average. 3/5

I Should Coco by Supergrass
Mar 06 2026

I should be more of a fan of this. My era, my basic genre, dug Alright. Not saying I didn't like it but it wasn't mind blowing. Above 3 but not yet 4. 3.5/5

Rage Against The Machine by Rage Against The Machine
Mar 07 2026

Was waiting for an album that's all me. Here it is. Hell of an album. Miss this band. 5/5

Chore of Enchantment by Giant Sand
Mar 08 2026

As a whole, this is pretty good. But with music like this, with such interesting compositions and arrangements, if you don't identify with much of the lyrics, it can leave the whole thing feeling that. That's the case here. A few songs that went on my liked list but moody just blended together. 3/5

Shaft by Isaac Hayes
Mar 09 2026
Rio by Duran Duran
Mar 10 2026

Two certified classics and a few other surprises. 3.5/5

Done By The Forces Of Nature by Jungle Brothers
Mar 11 2026

Damn, there was so much great hip hop in the late 80s and throughout the 90s that I missed this one. Always knew the name, knew their features on others' records but this was good. Solid 4/5

Very by Pet Shop Boys
Mar 12 2026

This album made me angry, for some reason. Probably Neil Tennant's voice. No songs added to my faves. Really annoyed. 1/5

Nowhere by Ride
Mar 13 2026

Glad I tried this again from the beginning. It went from a 2 to a 3 because the album just has a vibe, not a collection of songs thrown together.

Actually by Pet Shop Boys
Mar 15 2026

Okay, not Neil's voice. It's gotta be the production and it's sparser feel because I didn't hate his voice here. It seemed to blend more with the instrumentation instead of sitting on top of it. I was dreading a second PSB album in 3 days but it helped me realize why I liked this album but not Very. 3.5/5

The Modern Lovers by The Modern Lovers
Mar 16 2026

I think the 70s are the decade that I've explored the least. Born in the late 70s, 80s music was my youth soundtrack, hair metal and new wave, along with all the great pop. Got into hip hop in the early 90s and dived deeply. Then came Nirvana and I explored alt rock, then current indie/college rock, leading me to dive deeper into the 80s again. But all along that I became obsessed with early rock and roll and went nuts for everything 60s. But I avoided the 70s due to disco and prog, two things I wasn't interested in. All of this is a long way to say that all of my surprises have been from this decade. Add The Modern Lovers to Nick Lowe and Leonard Cohen. 4/5 Edit: started this review about halfway through. Now that I finished, it's a 5. Sometimes critics know what they're talking about

Power In Numbers by Jurassic 5
Mar 17 2026

The J5 EP had me hooked from the start and Quality Control came out while I was still DJing in college so I was excited to listen to more than What's Golden from this but it wasn't that great. Did appreciate what was essentially a Cut Chemist track at the end, though. 3/5

Goodbye And Hello by Tim Buckley
Mar 18 2026

For singer -songwriters, you have to enjoy the singer's voice and enjoy their lyrical content. Unfortunately, I enjoyed neither here. It wasn't unbearable like Pentagle was, though, so this ranks a 2/5.

Dub Housing by Pere Ubu
Mar 19 2026

Yeah, thought I'd like this. Not even close. Another 1/5 banger!

Third by Portishead
Mar 20 2026

The transitions between songs are very jarring. Knew I wouldn't like this as much as Dummy. I was right but there were still some good songs. 3/5

Elephant by The White Stripes
Mar 21 2026

Still not White Blood Cells. As a cohesive unit, 4/5. Individually, some of the songs are not good, though.

Miriam Makeba by Miriam Makeba
Mar 22 2026

Another surprise! I loved this album! 4/5

Parachutes by Coldplay
Mar 23 2026

Perfect first album. 5/5

My Aim Is True by Elvis Costello
Mar 24 2026

Best Elvis Costello album so far (had 3). Close to a 5. I'd rate it 4.5/5

Suede by Suede
Mar 25 2026

Passively alright. So middle of the road...3/5

Sticky Fingers by The Rolling Stones
Mar 27 2026

Very bluesy. Some fantastic songs and a few clunkers. 3.5/5

Superfly by Curtis Mayfield
Mar 28 2026

Damn, what a soundtrack. Solid, top to bottom. 4.5/5

The Colour Of Spring by Talk Talk
Mar 29 2026

Gets better as it goes. Some real good stuff at the end. 3.5/5

Moving Pictures by Rush
Mar 30 2026

When I first started playing Rock Band, I only had heard the singles and YYZ. The album was released for the game and I loved it! As any great prog album, take it at its whole. 4.5/5

Mar 31 2026

As individual tracks, I didn't add any of these to my faves BUT, taken as a whole, what a piece of music! And a debut! 4/5

Tracy Chapman by Tracy Chapman
Apr 01 2026

Damn, only knew two songs but this album blew me away. It seemed really prescient for today's times. 4.5/5

Moby Grape by Moby Grape
Apr 02 2026

This album starts so strongly but starts to fade as it goes on. Still, a solid album from a band that I have never listened to.

Darkness on the Edge of Town by Bruce Springsteen
Apr 04 2026

Not one of the Bruce albums I've ever listened to and none of the singles I know, either. So this was a nice pleasant first listen. 4/5

Apr 05 2026

I actively chose not to listen to her for years. And now two albums in, I'm really digging her. 4.5/5

Apr 06 2026

A favorite of mine for a milestone listen. The only flaw (I feel) is Poor Places. I think that song was always my stopping point because I don't recall ever hearing Reservations and it might be my favorite on this album. 5/5

Autobahn by Kraftwerk
Apr 08 2026

Was worried but I didn't hate this. Nothing I would add to my faves list but I found it very soothing and pleasant. True to a 3/5 for me

Innervisions by Stevie Wonder
Apr 10 2026

Not as good as Talking Book but still solid. 4/5

2112 by Rush
Apr 11 2026

Ahhh, Rock Band and 2112. My arms still hurt from drumming the whole suite. Not sure if I prefer this over Moving Pictures. No songs favorites (bc I love 2112 but I've gotta be on the mood for the epicness). 4/5

Vespertine by Björk
Apr 12 2026

Oh Björk... Vespertine is such a quandary because it starts so strong and then it pulls to a finish. But that start though...4/5

So by Peter Gabriel
Apr 13 2026

Second Peter Gabriel album and I think I realized he just puts out solid albums. Some great songs here. 3.5/5

Physical Graffiti by Led Zeppelin
Apr 14 2026

A bloated rock band gets more bloated. A bad combination. 2/5

Getz/Gilberto by Stan Getz
Apr 15 2026

One song doesnt make an album

The Hangman's Beautiful Daughter by The Incredible String Band
Apr 16 2026

Arghhhhhh! Poke out my ears please! These past two days have killed my motivation to continue this project!

There's A Riot Goin' On by Sly & The Family Stone
Apr 20 2026

A lot of pointless, meandering songs. Very annoying, to be honest. 2/5

Born To Run by Bruce Springsteen
Apr 21 2026

What an album. I love the tales the Bruce tells here. A masterclass in songwriting. Beautiful. 5/5

Tidal by Fiona Apple
Apr 23 2026

Used to love this CD. Still enjoy it quite a bit. 4/5

Fishscale by Ghostface Killah
Apr 24 2026

Hasn't listened to anything last the second generation of Wu Solo releases. This was good, very cohesive

Blackstar by David Bowie
Apr 25 2026

It's overrated due to his death but still a good album. Love that it's not bloated. 3.5/5

Cypress Hill by Cypress Hill
Apr 26 2026

What a throwback. Had this on cassette back in the day. 4/5

With The Beatles by Beatles
Apr 27 2026

It's the Beatles so.... Not sure how I missed their Till There Was You. Auto add to my faves list. The covers are excellent, which makes up for some less than stellar originals. 4.5/5

Bitches Brew by Miles Davis
Apr 28 2026

I think I'm more of a Coltrane guy than a Miles guy. This bored me to death

Foxbase Alpha by Saint Etienne
Apr 29 2026

Well, that was a revelation. Being such a fan of Portishead, I should've known this record. 4/5

The New Tango by Astor Piazzolla
Apr 30 2026

Appreciate is not the same as enjoy. Do I appreciate this? Sure. Did I enjoy this? A few moments, sure, but another disappointing inclusion. 2/5

May 01 2026

Man, some of y'all need to separate the musician from the music. Besides Monster, hadn't heard a single track on this. 4.5/5

1984 by Van Halen
May 02 2026

Standard 80s rock with some classics in here

Phaedra by Tangerine Dream
May 03 2026

Ummmm, this would be a great sci-fi score. As a listen, not so much. 2/5

Oedipus Schmoedipus by Barry Adamson
May 04 2026

Ugh, after reading another of your reviews for this, I gave it another chance. Glad I did. It grew in me. Does all of it work? Nope but that doesn't take anything away from the work. Vermillion Kisses would never go on a fave list for me but hell if it's not intriguing. 4/5

Amnesiac by Radiohead
May 05 2026

The more I listen to later period Radiohead, the more I realize that I missed out after album 3. And it's funny to follow Oedipus Schmedipus because both of them seem to be soundtracks for movies that don't exist. The only difference: this is actually good. 4.5/5

Garbage by Garbage
May 06 2026

Some good singles but the rest of the album wasn't as good as I hoped. 3/5

Live At The Regal by B.B. King
May 07 2026

Blues are nice, this is nice but very little stands out to me

Brothers by The Black Keys
May 08 2026

If we could do halves, this would be a 3.5 but it's definitely not a 4 so...

May 09 2026

I consider very few albums perfect. This is one. Sequencing, beats, rhymes. If you weren't there at the time, this shit was innovative, creative, unlike anything else out there. Still bump this all the time.

Elvis Presley by Elvis Presley
May 10 2026

I'm sure this is like what I said about Wu-Tang's first album. That it was innovative, creative, etc. But at this point, I just hear a man covering other people's songs. 2.5/5

3 + 3 by The Isley Brothers
May 11 2026

Some good covers, plus That Lady

The Stooges by The Stooges
May 13 2026

The introduction of punk. All good besides the 3rd track, which reminded me of Killing Joke, as in, it should've ended three minutes earlier to make a good song. 4/5

Zombie by Fela Kuti
May 15 2026

Not my thing. I get it, though

The Downward Spiral by Nine Inch Nails
May 16 2026

Perfect 4.5. But I'll round down to 4 because I wouldn't choose to listen to this album often

The Man Who by Travis
May 17 2026

College radio throwback

1977 by Ash
May 18 2026

Not bad but not tops either

Disraeli Gears by Cream
May 19 2026

The singles were all good, the rest were some standard English blues rock. Ginger's drumming throughout was top notch, though. 3.5/5

The Band by The Band
May 20 2026

Being a huge fan of Music from Big Pink, why did I never listen to this one?!! It grew and grew on me as I listened and I went back and replayed some of my favorites right away. 4/5

Kind Of Blue by Miles Davis
May 21 2026

Smoother, more background music than his other stuff I listened to. Plus, John Coltrane! Still, just a 3. Every jazz album solidifies that I'm just not a fan

Winter In America by Gil Scott-Heron
May 22 2026

Watergate Blues sounds like a description of today

Axis: Bold As Love by Jimi Hendrix
May 23 2026

Has my favorite 2 Jimi songs on it and really not much weak stuff. 4.5/5

Slayed? by Slade
May 24 2026

Not as bad as I thought it would be. 2.5/5

May 25 2026

Was hoping for better songwriting but I guess that's still to come in their catalog. Still some choice cuts here. 3.5/5

...And Justice For All by Metallica
May 26 2026

Classic Metallica. A little more thrashy than my preferences but a solid album 3.5/5

Protection by Massive Attack
May 27 2026

Besides Karmacoma, never listened to this one much. So close to classic. 4.5/5

System Of A Down by System Of A Down
May 28 2026

Has my favorite song of theirs (Spiders) and a few slept on songs. Much better than I gave it credit for. 4/5

Mermaid Avenue by Billy Bragg
May 29 2026

Back in college, I tried to listen to this and just didn't get it. 20+ years down the road and I get it now. Enjoyed this immensely. 4.5/5

The Cars by The Cars
May 30 2026

Best debut album ever? Banger after banger. 5/5

Electric Music For The Mind And Body by Country Joe & The Fish
May 31 2026

Enjoyed this more than I thought I would, based on the Woodstock footage I've seen. They're much more up my alley than I believed. 3.5/5

Can't Buy A Thrill by Steely Dan
Jun 01 2026

The singles are great. The fluff is pretty bland

Achtung Baby by U2
Jun 02 2026

Still not my favorite album by U2 but it's close. 4/5

The Beach Boys Today! by The Beach Boys
Jun 03 2026

Harmonies are gorgeous but the songs were very uneven. 3/5

The Nightfly by Donald Fagen
Jun 04 2026

Steely Dan light. I wanted it over by song 3.

Closer by Joy Division
Jun 05 2026

I tried it three times. I still am not getting the influence they had with this album. Did I like some of the songs? Sure. But I didn't find them mind blowing

Slipknot by Slipknot
Jun 07 2026

Thought I'd hate this. The drumming was stellar and the overall sonics were great. It's just the singing. At least I could understand him. I'd rate this a 3

GREY Area by Little Simz
Jun 08 2026

Second album I've heard from her. What a surprise! The beats are great, her flow is unique and on point.

We Are Family by Sister Sledge
Jun 09 2026

Title track is a classic. That's about all I've gotta say about that

The Bends by Radiohead
Jun 11 2026

Ah, my favorite ever used store find. I knew Creep, this album had just came out and I saw it for 4.99. Had to cop it. Still one of my favorite albums to this day. 5/5

Tonight's The Night by Neil Young
Jun 12 2026

Why am I consistently surprised by Neil's 70s output? Damn if this isn't amazing. The cover, black and white and stark, with the Neil styled scripted titling, drew me in but the songs will keep me coming back. 5/5

Music for the Masses by Depeche Mode
Jun 13 2026

Not the album that would top it for me with Depeche Mode but lots of songs I enjoyed hearing for the first time. 4/5

Sister by Sonic Youth
Jun 15 2026

Noise rock is not my favorite but this was digestible. 2.5/5

Hounds Of Love by Kate Bush
Jun 16 2026

Besides the massive hit, I struggled with this one. Very ethereal, which is usually my jam but something about this sat wrong with me. 2/5

Rock 'N Soul by Solomon Burke
Jun 17 2026

I love his voice but most of the material is blah and cheesy. Balances out to a 3/5

Marcus Garvey by Burning Spear
Jun 18 2026

Seemed like standard reggae to me, with none of the messages hitting me. 3/5

Yank Crime by Drive Like Jehu
Jun 19 2026

It's like Fugazi but without the intriguing lyrics nor the fractured instrumentation. Not my jam. 2/5

Fear Of Music by Talking Heads
Jun 20 2026

Another Talking Heads album. Another up and down experience.

Savane by Ali Farka Touré
Jun 21 2026

While the instrumentation was stellar, everything else made it unappealing to me. 2/5

Fuzzy by Grant Lee Buffalo
Jun 22 2026

I should've listened to this earlier. Very enjoyable album that I've slept on for too long. 4.5/5

Paranoid by Black Sabbath
Jun 23 2026

I've been getting albums all week that haven't clicked with my mood. But, oh did today's scratch that itch. This album is just what I needed. Every track. 5/5

Calenture by The Triffids
Jun 24 2026

This one took multiple listens. The lyrics were so dark and mysterious that I really wanted to focus on them. This is now the 4th artist that I had no clue about that just blew me away. I enjoyed this immensely. 5/5

Red Headed Stranger by Willie Nelson
Jun 25 2026

This is so hard to rate because I feel like I didn't have a ton of favorite songs on here like I do with other favorite albums but the whole of this album is SO good. 4.5/5. Rounds up because I'd listen again in a heartbeat

Eternally Yours by The Saints
Jun 26 2026

Standard punk. All sounded the same.

At Newport 1960 by Muddy Waters
Jun 27 2026

Just can't get into the blues.

Throwing Muses by Throwing Muses
Jun 28 2026

I really loved Bright Yellow Gun from their later stuff. This, not so much. 1/5

Honky Tonk Heroes by Waylon Jennings
Jun 29 2026

I had a Waylon album on the Another 1001 albums list put together on Reddit. I preferred that one to this one. Long fadeouts made the songs feel incomplete and the stories didn't connect with me as did that album. 2.5/5

I usually roll my eyes about the whole nasally voice or the piercing harmonica playing. Check my other Dylan reviews. But this live recording, those two things put me off big time. I tried twice, thinking I was being too hard the first time. I actually ended up more annoyed. Controversial rating, here I come. 1/5

Penance Soiree by The Icarus Line
Jul 02 2026

Did I need to hear this? Maybe, maybe not. But it wasn't horrible.

Boy In Da Corner by Dizzee Rascal
Jul 03 2026

Starts strong, finished samey. 3.5/5

The Dreaming by Kate Bush
Jul 05 2026

God, she is so weird but isnt this album just quirky enough to make it good. Close to masterpiece for me. 4.5/5

Crocodiles by Echo And The Bunnymen
Jul 06 2026

They have much more interesting stuff. 2.5/5

Back In Black by AC/DC
Jul 07 2026

Would've been a perfect album if not for the middle section.

Kala by M.I.A.
Jul 08 2026

Such an interesting mash of sounds. 4/5

25 by Adele
Jul 09 2026

There's a reason pop is pop. It can draw many people in. Why? Well, in this case, it's a combination of Adele's soaring vocals and the stellar production. The piano and strings perfectly compliment her voice. 4.5/5

Californication by Red Hot Chili Peppers
Jul 10 2026

Probably their best album. Still just a four.

Pink Flag by Wire
Jul 12 2026

Damn, punk that has great instrument playing! I've slept on this record for way too long. 5/5

Disintegration by The Cure
Jul 13 2026

My favorite Cure song (Pictures of You) is on here. Pretty thematic but it becomes monotonous after a bit. 4/5

Electric Ladyland by Jimi Hendrix
Jul 14 2026

My least favorite Jimi record. Still good, though. 4/5

Metallica by Metallica
Jul 15 2026

The hits are amazing. The rest is pretty samey. 4/5

Jul 16 2026

Got this shortly after it came out. Loved it. First time revisiting it in a while and I'm amazed at how it's held up. 4.5/5

The Chronic by Dr. Dre
Jul 18 2026

Classic then, classic now

The Boatman's Call by Nick Cave & The Bad Seeds
Jul 19 2026

Should've known I'd really enjoy this. Balanced between a 4 and a 5. 4.5/5

The Contino Sessions by Death In Vegas
Jul 20 2026

So many other good late 90s electronica albums. I was bored

Cloud Nine by The Temptations
Jul 21 2026

The bass is so good in this album. Love the lines. 3.5/5

The Velvet Underground & Nico by The Velvet Underground
Jul 22 2026

I absolutely love Nico's voice. It's been awhile since I've listened to this and it still hits. 5/5

War by U2
Jul 23 2026

Almost great. 4/5

Smash by The Offspring
Jul 24 2026

I love the theming on this album. The hidden instrumental at the end hits, too. Still holds up from my original mid-90s listens. 4/5

Exodus by Bob Marley & The Wailers
Jul 25 2026

His best album. 5/5

Iron Maiden by Iron Maiden
Jul 26 2026

Uneventful slogs. 1.5/5

The Predator by Ice Cube
Jul 27 2026

Post NWA individual albums were and still are peak rap. So many classics. 5/5

Live And Dangerous by Thin Lizzy
Jul 28 2026

Standard live album. Some sound great, some sound average and some are bad. 3/5

Boston by Boston
Jul 29 2026

Right up there with The Cars debut. All but one song, I feel, is a classic. 5/5

Darklands by The Jesus And Mary Chain
Jul 30 2026

Not my thing but there's a couple good tracks here. 2.5/5

The Modern Dance by Pere Ubu
Jul 31 2026

Their last album I rated of theirs, I had high expectations and was severely disappointed. This one, I expected it to be as bad as the last one. Kinda enjoyed this one the whole way through. 4.5/5

Foo Fighters by Foo Fighters
Aug 01 2026

I always looked back on this album with fondness. Nostalgia blurred me. Besides the three opening singles, the rest is pretty run of the mill. 3.5/5

Welcome To The Pleasuredome by Frankie Goes To Hollywood
Aug 03 2026

Didn't realize this was partially a covers album. What theming! Great surprise. 4/5

Aug 04 2026

I can't get past songs like Kim to make this a classic. As I've aged, this has not unfortunately. Some of it is downright embarrassing. 2/5

Countdown To Ecstasy by Steely Dan
Aug 05 2026

Probably my least favorite SD album. But it's still SD so 3/5 it is

Aug 06 2026

A lot of these albums start out strong for me and finish weakly. This was the opposite. Enjoyed the last 3 tracks. 3.5/5

Microshift by Hookworms
Aug 07 2026

I like electro pop. This was enjoyable. 4/5

The Suburbs by Arcade Fire
Aug 08 2026

Just was listening for if this was a 4 or a 5 for me. This album has always caught my attention. It's a great concept album that still holds up for me so it's a 5

Aug 09 2026

Badass proto punk. Too bad they got mixed up with the wrong people, which derailed their career but what an album. 4.5/5

Bayou Country by Creedence Clearwater Revival
Aug 10 2026

Singles band. Their full albums feel so bloated, yet are somewhere in the upper 30 minutes mark. Wish Chronicle was here instead. 2.5/5

Ramones by Ramones
Aug 12 2026

Felt like one big song made up of smaller songs. Always liked Blitzkrieg Bop. The rest felt very samey. 3/5
