Popular Reviews

Joan Armatrading by Joan Armatrading

Nice discovery. Down to Zero is a standout, along with a couple others. No big misses.

Violent Femmes by Violent Femmes

First timing hearing most of the album besides Blister in the Sun. Enjoyed it, would listen again. 3.5, rounding up.

The Stone Roses by The Stone Roses
Jan 05 2026

Enjoyed it more than I expected. Don’t agree with the high rating it gets on lists like these.

Odessey And Oracle by The Zombies
Jan 06 2026

Bubble gum pop from British Invasion. Lacks the weight or grit of other bands from the time. Not a bad listen, good background music. Time of the Season still sounds fantastic. The rest varies.

Frank by Amy Winehouse
Jan 07 2026

Great find. I love Back to Black, but never listened to Frank before. Excellent band. Love the track order, funky, complex songs.

KIWANUKA by Michael Kiwanuka
Jan 12 2026
Blur by Blur
Jan 13 2026

Couple good guitar riffs. Lots of extra noise. I get Blur and Sublime confused for some reason. Oasis is better than both!

Sea Change by Beck
Jan 14 2026

Happened to listen to Odelay and this over the last few days. It’s crazy how different they are. I like Odelay better, but there are some really solid, although somber, songs on Sea Change.

All Directions by The Temptations
Jan 15 2026

Love this one. Big headspin from Sea Change. Great and under appreciated by the Temptations.

xx by The xx
Jan 17 2026

Boring

Debut by Björk
Jan 25 2026

Nope

The Genius Of Ray Charles by Ray Charles
Jan 26 2026

Could use a half star here. Most of my favorite songs of his aren’t on here.

Blackstar by David Bowie
Jan 27 2026

Reminds me of Labyrith era Bowie. Creepy sax.

Sail Away by Randy Newman
Jan 28 2026

3.5. Political Science and Leave Your Hat On bump it up.

Da Capo by Love
Feb 02 2026

Damn hippies

Vol. 4 by Black Sabbath
Feb 03 2026
Dare! by The Human League
Feb 04 2026

Hate this

L'Eau Rouge by The Young Gods
Feb 05 2026

Not my thing. French helps

The New Tango by Astor Piazzolla
Feb 06 2026

Impressive xylophone. Don’t need to hear again.

Eagles by Eagles
Feb 07 2026
C'est Chic by CHIC
Feb 17 2026

3.5, liked more than I expected. Fun album!

Bad by Michael Jackson
Feb 20 2026

Classic. Half the tracks were monster hits. The other half were new to me. A couple clunkers which kept it from a 5. Still can’t hear Bad without thinking of Weird Al in a giant fat suit.

Revolver by Beatles
Feb 21 2026

As good as it gets

Palo Congo by Sabu
Feb 25 2026

2.5. Impressive conga drums. Only have to hear it once.

Bookends by Simon & Garfunkel
Mar 04 2026
Electric Prunes by The Electric Prunes
Mar 05 2026

3.5, Really like Too Much to Dream Last Night. The rest is good, eclectic garage rock.

Olympia 64 by Jacques Brel
Mar 12 2026

1.5. Best part is the length

Paris 1919 by John Cale
Mar 13 2026

Great surprise! Exactly what I hope to have happen going through this list.

In The Wee Small Hours by Frank Sinatra
Mar 15 2026

4.5. Classic Sinatra. Doesn’t have too many of his best known songs, but they’re all good.

Figure 8 by Elliott Smith
Mar 17 2026

More upbeat than I expected. X/O is the only Elliott Smith I heard before and that’s pretty depressing. This is a solid 3. Nothing all that memorable about it, but a decent listen.

Yoshimi Battles The Pink Robots by The Flaming Lips
Mar 21 2026

This is one of those albums that takes me back to a specific time and place. UD dorm rooms, Chappelle Show reruns, Strongbad clips, and weekday video game tournaments. All time classic!

Cloud Nine by The Temptations
Mar 22 2026

Love how the Temptations went into a funkier direction. I prefer the next couple albums, more Papa was a Rolling Stone, but this is a fun listen.

Meat Puppets II by Meat Puppets
Mar 23 2026

Enjoyed much more than I expected. Very cool blending of different genres. Clear that this album influenced a lot of 90s bands.

Lady Soul by Aretha Franklin
Mar 24 2026

4.5. Love this era of hers.

Ace of Spades by Motörhead
Mar 26 2026

Was expecting to hate this and was surprised. Some great guitar work.

Berlin by Lou Reed
Mar 27 2026

3.5, rounding up. Big Lou Reed fan, but this isnt in the same level as Transformer or Rock n Roll Animal. Some of the lyrics are tough an definitely don’t age well.

Queens of the Stone Age by Queens Of The Stone Age
Mar 28 2026

A little disappointed. I like some of their other albums, but this one seems more like generic rock. Not sure why this one ended up on the list.

Life's Too Good by The Sugarcubes
Mar 29 2026

Surprised that I liked it. Not a Bjork fan, but the music was decent and had a few songs I dug.

Vivid by Living Colour
Mar 30 2026
Machine Head by Deep Purple
Mar 31 2026

Reminded me of the Queens album we just heard. I think influential, but not great. I can hear a lot of late 80s and 90s bands in the music. But not something I’d come back to.

The Stooges by The Stooges
Apr 03 2026

Classic. Still hits hard.

We Are Family by Sister Sledge
Apr 05 2026

Rounding up from 2.5

Greetings From L.A. by Tim Buckley
Apr 06 2026

2.5, rounding up. Didn’t get a good listen, but the vocals were annoying.

Diamond Life by Sade
Apr 11 2026

Well done but not my thing

New York Dolls by New York Dolls
Apr 12 2026

Great, underrated album and band! Like a bridge between the Stones and punk. Love it!

The Idiot by Iggy Pop
Apr 13 2026

3.5. I liked it, but some of the songs are a slog.

The Suburbs by Arcade Fire
Apr 19 2026

3.5. Good but mostly seemed to be background music for me. Nothing grabbed me.

Headquarters by The Monkees
Apr 20 2026

Better than I expected. Not a big fan, but a few catchy songs

Apr 23 2026

Rounding up from 2.5. Blue must just be a band that missed me. I couldn’t get into this beyond a couple songs. And the Spotify version is over 2 hours. Not sure if that includes demos and outtakes, but a lot of the songs seemed unfinished.

Dry by PJ Harvey
Apr 24 2026
Neon Bible by Arcade Fire
Apr 26 2026

Surprised that I liked this. Not normally an Arcade Fire fan.

Ocean Rain by Echo And The Bunnymen
Apr 27 2026

Just can’t get into that 80s production.

GREY Area by Little Simz
Apr 30 2026

2.5. Like some of the beats

May 02 2026

As good as it gets. My only criticism is that it’s too short. I could listen to this for hours.

May 03 2026

4.5 rounding up. A couple covers that I wish were left off. But this is an incredible album. Hurt is the hit and highlight. Emotion that rarely comes through on record.

May 05 2026

I’m not the biggest Elton John fan. But his first 3-4 albums are undeniable, capped off by this one. So many hits and a lot of the album cuts are strong too.

Safe As Milk by Captain Beefheart & His Magic Band
May 10 2026

Never listened to Captain Beefheart before. I’d always heard he was pretty far out there. Some of this album is. But I found a lot of it to be interesting. Some very weird tracks I didn’t like that take it from a 4 to a 3 for me. Overall, a fun listen.

Joan Armatrading by Joan Armatrading
May 12 2026

Nice discovery. Down to Zero is a standout, along with a couple others. No big misses.

Whatever by Aimee Mann
May 15 2026

Nice surprise. I’ve never listened to Aimee Mann that much, but really liked this one.

Grace by Jeff Buckley
May 16 2026

Hallelujah alone is worth the price of admission. I like his voice, but this time around he reminded me of the guy from Jesus Christ Superstar. Rounding up from 3.5

Violent Femmes by Violent Femmes
May 21 2026

First timing hearing most of the album besides Blister in the Sun. Enjoyed it, would listen again. 3.5, rounding up.

Hounds Of Love by Kate Bush
May 23 2026

Running Up That Hill is great. Nothing else does much for me.

Shaft by Isaac Hayes
May 24 2026
Metal Box by Public Image Ltd.
May 27 2026

Couldn’t do it. Like if the Talking Heads and Television were way worse.

Junkyard by The Birthday Party
May 29 2026
2112 by Rush
May 30 2026
Histoire De Melody Nelson by Serge Gainsbourg
Jun 01 2026

Rounding up from 2.5. Better than I expected from the description.

Hot Rats by Frank Zappa
Jun 02 2026

Very cool album. Haven’t listened to much Zappa, but this one was really interesting.

Pearl by Janis Joplin
Jun 04 2026
The Nightfly by Donald Fagen
Jun 05 2026

Steely Dan lite. Good songs, but feels like they’re missing something.

Bayou Country by Creedence Clearwater Revival
Jun 08 2026

4.5. Not their best but very solid.

The Rising by Bruce Springsteen
Jun 12 2026

Very high highs and a couple generic rock songs. Really good album.

Deja Vu by Crosby, Stills, Nash & Young
Jun 20 2026

4.5

Drunk by Thundercat
Jun 21 2026

4. Nice surprise. Never listened to Thundercat before. Any album that can put Kendrick Lamar and Michael McDonald together has my attention.

Frank by Amy Winehouse
Jun 24 2026
Dirty by Sonic Youth
Jun 26 2026
Ten by Pearl Jam
Jun 27 2026

4.5

Rising Above Bedlam by Jah Wobble's Invaders Of The Heart
Jun 28 2026

Listenable, but pretty bad. Feels like cultural appropriation at points.

Green by R.E.M.
Jun 30 2026

3.5. Not a big REM fan but this was a good listen with a couple very good songs.

Amnesiac by Radiohead
Jul 01 2026

4.5. This one grew on me. I hated it on first listen. I still don’t think it’s on the same level as OK Computer or the Bends, but Its close.

Chirping Crickets by Buddy Holly & The Crickets
Jul 10 2026

4.5. Several rock standards. A few that miss the mark.

Low-Life by New Order
Jul 13 2026

2.5. Sole good songs, but really dislike the 80s production.

So by Peter Gabriel
Jul 14 2026

3.5. Two classics and a couple other good ones.
