Really glad this list can still turn up a gem like this occasionally, i really enjoyed this. My pre-listen scan didn’t bode well, 70s American, cover looks like a young Deirdre Barlow, nominated by somebody who rated The Bends as a 1. First song didn’t grab me at first but by the end I was won over

One for breaking the rules of the list, where will it end: greatest hits albums and Now that’s what I call a .. compilations?
Loved it, great recommendation
Song names on the cover = crap album

Not a fan of the mic in mouth shouty style but this was a better example of the type
Medium metal, a bit too much cheese for me
Nice enough, bought it at the time I think but doesn’t stick now
Silly but fun, nice selection
Wears its influences on its sleeve a bit too much.
Getting 2 better band’s names in the album title must be a record
Pink-lite
Amy Winehouse impersonates Norah Jones
Didn’t need this but it’s OK
Probably should revisit
Thanks for adding, was quite fun but probably not anything I’d play again
Seemed interesting on first listen, worth a revisit
Loved it, great recommendation
Loved it, what I came here for spiky fun
Rude Taylor Swift
I love a good pop album, unfortunately that was not a good one
Horns sounded good
Great additiion, I need more Sparks in my life
Good stuff, thanks for adding
Loved this, fills in a lot of gaps in the family tree of music that I love. What I came to the original list for glad this got added in the user list
Mariachi “Punk”
Some interesting energy but oddly empty
A rare DNF, 100 mins plus of being shouted at in a pretty uninteresting way, no thanks. Some of the intros were ok though so saved from 1 star hell
Self indulgent twoddle
Oh yes, even with the incredibly forced rhyme of verisimilitude and platitude it’s a great album and should have been on the list
What I came for, who knew I needed more Danish in my life
Overblown nonsense
Yes I do fear jazz
Groaned when I saw the producer
More derivative than f’’’(x)
Alex Turner being arch is OK but is so much more interesting with the energy of the early stuff
Imagine if the most annoying bratty talentless kids you know were encouraged by their idiot parents to spend a day in a recording studio, what they would make is better than this
Good to have a change from the UK/US core of the list. Probably the first Portuguese album I’ve knowingly listened to. Can’t make out a word of the lyrics and but it did suit the music well drifting from smoother Spanish sounding to a harder more Eastern European vibe. Personal view decent but probably won’t be revisiting but glad to have heard it and a good addition to the list
Song names on the cover = crap album
Couldn’t get past that it sounded like 5SOS
Quite good but found Honey Beea bit creepy
Odd in a good way
Really glad this list can still turn up a gem like this occasionally, i really enjoyed this.
As usual a curates egg from Zappa
The curse of song titles on the cover strikes again. So much less than the sum of the parts
A few songs sounded like the theme tune to a cheesy cop show starrimg our hero Nigel Spackman cleaning up the streets of Dresden
Had enough Neil Young type nonsense on the list. Music to suck the joy out of life
Baby food punk, the Wiggles have more raw energy
AI generated grunge
Thought it was going to be a 1 during the first song but grew on me a bit
Automatic 1 for not being eligible. But anyway it’s a camp panto not an album
Forgotten how good this is, i tend to go back to Blue Lines when I need a fix but this is great
A child’s idea of clever, just comes across as smug
I remember Attack of the Grey Lantern but hadn’t heard this
My selection, pleased to see this getting some love. It was very much a personal selection as it was a big part of me growing up. Got this on cassette from a bargain bin at Our Price when I was 14 and it became part of pre-going out routine. The combination of disappointment but hopefulness really comes through and when combined with the energetic urgent playing creates something that improves on each play. Joe wears his talents fairly lightly on this one and I know he doesn’t rate this album but I think this captures more raw emotion and energy than any of his later albums. Big shout out to Graham Malby’s great bass work. Right that’s enough
Why? Indeed,
Played this to death when it came out but not heard it for years. Stands up pretty well although Paul’s god bothering is more obvious than i remember
Canadian REM tribute band
At least it was short
So hard to rate ambient music. When it was on I drifted off, thought I was stuck on repeat on the same track but was relaxed and oddly energised afterwards so maybe it’s great who knows
Not to put too fine a point on it I don’t get all the smug nerd rock bands people seem to feel I need to hear. Emotionless and tiresome
Wow a dive into musics very long tail. If they ever want to make “Marcel the Shell with shoes on - the musical” this kind of breathy childish but not childlike vocals would be good. Held my interest but not sure I’ll be going back
If Oasis did pop punk
Just no
I read the submitter’s rationale and I tried to listen with an open mind but still, hard yards
