It’s fine as background music.
This either a high 4 or a low 5. I can’t figure it out. Requiem is a 5 easily and every other track bounces from around 4 except primitive that’s a three. Complications might also be a 5. They have some garage rock tendencies that detract from the otherwise wonderful bass lines and drone marching drums. Guitar work is moody and when used right pulls the songs together to create a dark atmosphere. The occasional synth helps too. Pretty good.
This would be a five if the vocals and lyrics were better on moon in June. That’s very nearly a one for me, but the other songs are great. There are sections of Moon in June that are great. The beginning of Face lift sounds like what early French black metal artists would experiment with. Crazy to hear that sound here.
This may be a creeper album in that it may creep its way to a 5 over time. The instrument choices and the mix are odd. There is a lot of space on this album. I haven't decided how much I enjoy that, and the lyrics, though very powerful at points, can be delivered with less punch than expected. I may also enjoy this. Leonard Cohen sounds a lot like Bob Dylan on this album even down to the chosen vocal melodies. A solid four at this moment.
