Pretty boring. Probably deserves another listen. Most songs below average though. 2.5
Beautiful powerful voice
Reminds me a bit of Flaming Lips. Solid experimental pop music
Damn this was fun
Wow I had kind of written off The Police, but this album was fantastic. I didn't even mind "Every Breath You Take" in the context of this album. Mother was an insane song and I loved it
Was enjoying it to start, but the more I listened, the more it annoyed me
pretty decent. elecronic music with vocals from 1990
3.5
3.5 Just some good ol 1950s early Rock n Roll
3.5
3.75
60s hippies playing weird, but not always bad, folksy/medieval/psych music
4.5 Blew me away. Way better than expected. Almost every song a banger. No surprise Bowie produced it
3.5

Decent bops. Best song for me is Maybe Your Baby, other than Superstition which everyone has heard a million times
Generic classic rock. Far better options for this genre, not sure why this album is on the list. A couple catchy songs
One of the best discoveries of this project
Some okay songs. Can't stand his voice though. Too weak and whimpery. Sounds like he's about to cry. Like, can we get one song where he actually sings from his chest?
3.5

Now this is what this list is all about. Super weird and awesome. Definitely not easy listening, but fun as fuck
Okay. Wouldn't listen again. It's interesting, but repetitive and too much of an 80s sound for my liking
Described as the first cross-section of pop and prog rock with 80s production dominant throughout. Not really my jam (too 80s sounding) but Kate Bush was weirdly hot in the 80s. 2.5 if I'm being generous
4.5
Very generic 70s rock. Still fun to listen to though
London Calling is probably the only Clash album I need to listen to. Track for track, far better
2.5 - None of the hits. Kinda boring by Ray Charles standards
Nice album, probably wouldn't listen again
2.5
2.5 Inoffensive, but fairly boring. I do love Bossa Nova but would rather listen to the older stuff from her father/Jobim/Getz
Fantastic album. Smooth, easy listening, something to toss on while eating dinner or hanging on the deck with a drink
4.5
Interesting album - I enjoyed listening, would probably never listen again. Would rather listen to her songs on the VU & Nico album
Some great tracks here. Really enjoy his style
Fuckin fuck ya! Where's the molly?
A couple decent tracks (quite enjoyed the cover of Little Wing) but all starts to sound the same. Not sure where the hype for this album really comes from. I maintain the only great thing Clapton ever did was his involvement with Cream 2.5
Better tunes than I thought. Not really sure why it's on the list though
Am yet to finish the whole album, but what a pleasant surprise. Took me a few tracks to get into it and realize what she was doing. But damn, her seat at the table is more than deserved.
How the hell did this album make the list? I quite enjoyed the cover of Only Love Can Break Your Heart, but damn. Not very memorable or groundbreaking or important historically.
Mannish Boy is a five star song 100%. But the rest of the album starts to feel all the same. A legend for sure, but it got a little boring for me.
Definitely have to think about this album in the context of when it was released. In the late 80s, they changed the game and ushered in Alternative scene. This was way groovier/funkier than I was expecting.
How can you not love this guy? One of my favourite voices ever in music.
Holy Fuck
A vocalist makes or breaks a band for me, and....jesus. Some of the instrumentals were great, but Morissey..just no dude. No. Having said that, the album grew on me as it went on. "That Joke isn't Funny Anymore" is a legitimately GREAT song. And the bassline for Barbarism slapped
Loved this. Feel like I need to sit with this album and listen again to really take it in. But very melodic, beautiful album. Can't believe it's taken this long to check out this band!
Not what I'd normally listen to but I got into it at the gym
3.5 Not sure if the Smiths are just growing on me, but I like each album more than the last. Probably my favourite one of theirs so far. Kinda hope three is all they get on this list though
3.5 I prefer a few other Radiohead albums
4.5
Terrible
3.5 Somehow had never listened to it. It was..okay. Incredible closer though, wow! Where Did You Sleep Last Night!
3.5 Overall too long and a lot of throwaway tracks that do nothing for the album. But that was common for hip-hop back then. Love the flow and Eye Know is an incredible track
3.5 Okay, The Smiths might have grown on me since Meat is Murder. Much more enjoyable album and Morissey's vocals didn't annoy me as much here. Should listen again but wouldn't come back to The Smiths outside of this project
Couldn't find the album but jammed out to some Fats Domino. Pretty solid. Just classic earlyyyyy rock n roll, nothing too exciting. Cool hearing the originals of some of the 60s bands who covered him (eg. Beatles)
Liked this far more than I thought I was going to. Rumour has it = banger Someone Like you = beautiful, heartfelt song
This is why you listen to the album all the way through! So close to turning it off after the fifth song, Plastic (WOW that song sucks ass), but "We Carry On" - Sick song. Loved the groove, kinda Radiohead vibes. Then "Deep Water" a lovely little ukulele ditty, right up my alley. From there, I really got into the weirdness of the rest of the album. Overall, really don't like the vocals and the only good vocal melody is "Deep Water"
Love Frank..but this ain't it
Ouchies my ears. Probably won't listen again but got pretty into it on side B. Fists of Love was actually pretty tight. Strange Things was also pretty sick
Really enjoyed this. Great vocals, interesting vocal melodies and instrumentation, weird/funny lyrics. This just sounded good from start to finish. The last track was a standout
Great musicians who make very generic rock Best songs: Nobody’s Fault, Get the Lead Out, Home Tonight
Psychobilly!! 1950s rock n roll / rockabilly meets..whatever awesome pushover shit this is
4.5
Some great tracks. Too long overall. Best tracks: Upon 9th and Fairchild Leaves and Sand Thinking of Ways If you Want it, Take it Lazareth I've Lost the Reason
Not a fan of the vocalist. Similar to the Smiths, maybe worse.
4.5
Not really my cuppa. I like the harder punk songs like Sister and Flood. Soul and Fire was good too. Not too sure why it's on the list 2.5
This is the Day! great track. The piano solo in Uncertain Smile was by far the album's highlight 3.5
Just not my style of rap
Incredible album. Mostly bangers
Good stuff. Cheerleader probably my fave 3.5
3.75 Aqualung (title track) is great. Sounds so similar to Stairway to Heaven at times, which is interesting as they were recorded around the same time and both bands used the same studio at certain points
Dancing Queen! Forgot how incredible Fernando is
80s bullshit. Don't You Want Me is a banger though, and could have brought the album to a 2 if not for that awful album cover
Debut album by Johnny Rotten. Post punk. Kinda interesting but fairly average. Wouldn’t listen again
3.5 Groovy
For me, the quintessential album that perfectly encapsulates what the 60s vibe is
3.5 Really enjoyable album. Fave songs: Down to Zero, Like Fire, Tall in the Saddle
3.5 Not a lot of standouts aside from the tracks I already knew
Honestly, pretty solid pop songs. It's not for me, but I get why pre-teen girls go nuts for it
Weird French dude
Don't think I'm a Prince fan
Loved this. Love the dream pop / shoegaze sound of this album. It got a bit repetitive after a while, but easy listening. Favourite tracks were probably the first and last tracks
Better than expected
More hot garbage from British New Wave / Synth Pop bullshit
3.5 Cool album, hardcore punk, no real standouts but a fun listen
An Irish band from 2003 that sounds like a folk/rock album from 1971. Decent tunes but not sure why it would be included on this list
Another solid album by the british electronic duo. Prefer their debut more though. Love the soft, ethereal vocals
Some good funky tunes. A few misses. I enjoyed the McCartney-penned Girlfriend quite a bit. Very Paul
3.5 Very good album. Not as good as "Lust for Life" though. Almost sounds like a Bowie album - he's all over it. China Girl, Dum Dum Boys highlights
3.5
3.5 This was actually pretty great!
simply fantastic music
Irish folk punk! On paper, this should be right up my alley. But I just thought it was okay
Love the guy's voice. Weird but super talented. Songs were kinda average though
Good voice, good songs. Not something I'd really choose to listen to. Criminal a pretty damn good tune though
Interesting album. I enjoyed it. Not something I would go back to though
Shame. There’s some fuckin awesome music underneath the vocals. I just despise that guttural screamo style of vocals. Album’s also half an hour too long
I get this is influential to the punk movement, but this just ain't it...like none of the songs are actually good
5 incredible songs, five kinda average. The five greats: Aladdin Sane Time The Prettiest Star The Jean Genie Lady Grinning Soul
2 stars for the 2 notes the bass player knew
If you're rating this anything less than 4, your ears don't work
Post-punk, gothic rock. Incredible album. Took me a few songs to get into it but loved it. Best songs: Kick in the Eye Hollow Hills Mask Verging on 4.5
Some interesting instrumentals but boring and forgettable. 1.5
Thought I would like this more but still pretty solid. 7.5/10
I just don't think early 90s hip hop is for me. Sounds so dated now.
Scottish rock band - 80s shoegaze, noise-pop. It ain't bad, just ain't my bag
3.5 Some nice tunes. Not my favourite of his so far.
3.5 90s Britpop but not on the level of Blur or Oasis
What a voice. Holy crap.
A boring album with an even more boring singer. Black was a decent song
Opens with that awful 80s synth and reverb drums. Then the awful voice. Dude cannot sing. Album finished strong but damn I don't like the sound of this album. I'm on Fire great tune though
Some amazing tracks (all covers of course). But great voice, love this era. Just nothing overly special at the end of the day
Big band swing music. Good listen. Not sure when I'd choose to put it on again 3.5
Objectively a pretty great album. Great voice, great production, just not really my cuppa 3.5
Lovely album. Good electronic music to work to
Probably my fourth favourite S&G album, but it's still incredible. Paul Simon GOAT songwriter 9/10
I like the weirdness of this guy/band. But not as good as the other album on this list, Soul Mining
4.5 This started out as a 3 for me but grew as the album went on. I probably like the instrumentals the best. I was worried a whole hour of their voices would grate; but thankfully lots of instrumentals. And quite experimental
Amazing! Never heard of this album or artist, but it all flowed super well. Great vocals/arrangements. Will definitely be listening to this one again.
Not their best
2.5 Can hear how his voice was influential on Bowie. But songs weren't great
Now that's a god damn 5 star album right there. From one of the most underrated artists and vocalists of all time
fairly pretentious and self-indulgent. Although some good tunes and good voice. What a terrible album opener though
3.5 Fun album, like a groovy, jazzy, experimental movie soundtrack
3.5
7.5/10 Some great old school (early 70s) country & western music. 2 hours is far too long for an album though so I only listened to half of it
1.5 Really don't like this band. Terrible vocalist. Uninteresting songs. Their sound overall is just not for me
Holy shit where has this been my whole life
2.5
Fuck Bob Dylan, this is where it's at. 0/5 album cover though
Beautiful voice from one of the founding fathers of Soul. Cry to Me the highlight 7.5/10
Really enjoyed this - folk rock from The Byrd's Gene Clark 3.75
3.5
3.5 Deserves another listen
Very nice album. Went to look up Don McLean to see if he was still alive...then saw that not only is he alive but dating a 30 year old OnlyFans model 👀
4.5
Better than Born in the USA
American punk rock group - early 80s. Co female/male lead vocals. Cool sound, sounds a bit similar to the B-52s 3.5
Really enjoyed this. Had never heard of Robert Wyatt until this project and turns out he's wonderfully awesome and weird
4.5
Didn't realize he could sing like that 3.5
This album was pretty sick. Alt rock/post punk. Paranoia Man in a Cheap Shit Room the standout. 3.5
4.5
1.5 Bad Bad Not Good. Although Revolution was a good tune
For someone who hates 80s synth pop with a passion, I actually quite enjoyed this. The album flowed really well. Loved the little throwbacks to Gerry and the Pacemakers; Relax made me giggle thinking of Zoolander; and the 13 minute "Welcome to the Pleasuredome" was a brilliant intro to the album. 3.5
Okay background instrumental music 2.5
I liked this better than a lot of the early 90s hip-hop albums that have been on here 3.5
Riders on the Storm is the only reason this album is on the list. The rest is pretty bad
Some great tunes but start to sound a bit samey. You make me feel so young a helluva tune
Move over Elvis, Little Richard is the true king of rock n roll 3.5
Weird album. Not my favourite from Bowie. Felt like there were only a few actual songs
Despite the 80sness, this was actually really great. Loved her voice. Every song sounded like a single. Haven't finished the album yet but my favourites are Money Changes Everything, Girls just wanna have fun, and my favourite - She Bop
Mr Gabriel, I did not much care for this
4.5 Outlaw country. A couple epic songs: Big Iron, El Paso
4.5
Found it a little self-indulgent. Not huge on his vocal delivery. I enjoyed Stagger Lee and The Curse of Millhaven 2.5
First track was great, same with the cover of Be Thankful for What You’ve Got. Last track good as well. The gym was probably not the best environment for this. Lot of mellow meandering
Collaboration between Malian guitarist Ali Farka Toure and American guitarist Ry Cooder Cool album, interesting sounds. A bit boring overall
I can see why people don't like them; but also see why they got so popular. Good catchy tunes
Didn't make it all the way through but was enjoying it for the most part 3.5
For some reason I thought The Offspring were a metal band. This is SO up my alley. Best track: Come Out and Play
Well this is obviously right up my alley - 60s folk rock/pop/psychedelia. Beautiful voice, nice instrumentals. Best track - Sunlight, Darkness Darkness
Second Kings of Leon album in a week?? I quite enjoyed the last one, but I guess I'm already tired of them as this one I found pretty boring. The last two tracks though (Holy Roller Novocaine, and Talihina Sky) were great
Some great tunes, but the abomination that was his Beatles cover definitely takes it down a notch. A solid 3.5, rounded up cause it's Bowie
Two bonafide bangers and an assortment of other lovely ditties
Great album! Hippie country rock. Similar to Grateful Dead. 9/10 Best songs: Christine's Tune Sin City Do Right Woman My Uncle Hot Burrito #1 Hippie Boy
3 songs was enough. Crap
Fun punk album from Australia's first punk band (supposedly)
Listened to this back to back after her album, Hounds of Love. This one was weirder which I was into. Best songs: Sat In Your Lap There Goes A Tenner Suspended in Gaffa
Fantastic album. Great songwriting. It's probably a 9.5/10 for me, rounding up
Not usually a huge fan of generic arena rock, but this is different. Banger after banger. And Hitch a Ride was a much needed break from the sameness of the radio hits preceding it. And best song on the album
Don't feel like this is deserving of being on the list.
Lovely album. Title track is incredible. Also loved Early Morning Breeze, The Way I see You, and Here I Am
3.75 Best songs: Ex-factor To Zion Doo Wop I used to love him Tell Him (best on the album)
No
Wow what an awesome surprise! The lead singer/songwriter from the pixies. This album though has more of a reggae/ska/punk feel - I read it was described as the Pixies on the beach. At 22 songs, I thought it was going to be far too many songs, but as I started writing down standout tracks, I ended up writing down half the album. Best tracks: (I Want to Live on an) Abstract Plan Calistan Headache Sir Rockaby Fiddle Riddle Big Red Space is Gonna do me Good Pure Denizen of the Citizens Band 4.5
Better than expected! His voice sounds pretty good here too. Solid cover of I Shot The Sheriff. 3.5
Wow I do not remember this album being so good. For me, it almost rivals Back to Black. I can't give it 5 stars but I really wish half stars were possible cause this is a 4.5 to 4.75
Definitely don't need 6 of this guy's albums, especially when this one is considered his best. They were all pretty solid tunes, best song by far was Pump It Up. 3.5
Great album by one of the most influential bands of the 60s. Thought I would like it a little more than I did, but need to re-listen Best songs: Have You Seen Her Face Everybody's Been Burned Thoughts and Words Mind Gardens My Back Pages (Dylan cover)
The first track is one of their all time best, but the rest of the album didn't quite hold up. I prefer their earlier folk/psychedelic sound more, and also prefer the offshoot album/band The Flying Burrito Brothers 3.5
Needs another listen but I loved this album. Yes is one of the best discoveries of this project. Probably an 8.5/10
Lovely album. Crosby's Triad song was one of the best songs and should have been on the album. Some lovely bass playing by Chris Hillman and of course Roger McGuinn's jangly guitar. Harmonies on point as always Best songs: Basically all of them 4.5
Really great album. Not positive I would go back to it much but super enjoyable. Lovely cover of Mrs. Robinson 3.5
Three Kings of Leon albums?? I think 1 would have been enough. Having said that, they found a formula and it works. It's a bit cheesy, can see why a lot of people don't like it. But damn they write some good catchy tunes. Wasn't really a weak spot on the album.
Very inoffensive. None of the songs grabbed me. Wouldn't be mad if someone was playing this in the background but I'd never intentionally put this on
Damn, one of my favourite bands for the 60s but I guess this is why I've never listened to their studio albums. The only good songs were the ones I already knew. Groovin is one of the greatest, most chill summer songs of all time though 3.5
Just looking at the songs, it's a 5 star album. But I can't stand the production on most tracks and there's no need to include the jam tracks. 4.5
Funkier than I thought! Amazing album, need to re-listen. 4.5
Pretentious and boring. Although I love that Devendra Banhart makes an appearance
