Chirping Crickets
Buddy Holly & The CricketsI liked it, but I really can't see myself listening to it outside of this.
I liked it, but I really can't see myself listening to it outside of this.
I don't know much about jazz music but I do know that this is the exact kind that I like.
The album kinda sucks you in, starting with an amazing track in Roundabout. The rest doesn't quite hit the same and sometimes feels a little experimental. I still really enjoyed it, but they kind show their entire hand in the first track.
Maybe you need to be in a certain mood to enjoy this. I just found out very depressing and not especially interesting.
One of my all time favorite albums. It's an album that explores complex themes like mental illness, mortality, and human existence. The seamless transitions between tracks, enhanced by the band's use of synthesizers, sound effects, and philosophical lyrics, create a rich, atmospheric soundscape. Songs like "Time," "Money," and "Us and Them" showcase the band's lyrical depth and musical experimentation. It's both introspective and universally relatable, with Roger Waters' poignant lyrics and David Gilmour's soaring guitar work standing out. A timeless classic, the album remains a pinnacle of progressive rock and a cultural landmark.
Really enjoyed this album, it was so groovy and smooth. The melodic and harmonic complexity is incredible. Standouts for me are Peg and I Got The News.
It's like background music you can't help but pay attention to. It makes good background while working from home. I found that the more I listened to it, the more I enjoyed it. Every track is so different, it's hard to pick a favorite.
Kind of your standard indie rock album. I enjoyed listening to most of it. High points for me were Take Me Out, Matinée and This Fire.
Decent album. Really liked Morrissey's vocals and some of the bass work was great.
Front to back just a great 90s rock album, I loved it. The Day I Tried To Live is my favorite by far. RIP Chris Cornell.
You obviously can't deny the talent. The fact that this is his 18th album is pretty unbelievable. Having said that, while I enjoyed some of it, most of it just wasn't for me. Favorite tracks, Sir Duke and Isn't She Lovely.
Albums like this make me regret any other 5s I've given. Led Zeppelin is just on another level. All killer, no filler.
Pure 90s dnb. Plug this straight into my veins. It somehow feels nostalgic even though it's brand new to me. A little unexpected to have a compilation album in this, but in the end I don't care because it's right up my alley.
Love the vibes of this album, it creates such a dreamlike atmosphere. It feels very 80s. I have no idea what they're saying most of the time, but it sounds cool regardless.
It's one of those albums where I feel like I should like it, but I didn't. This album just didn't do it for me.
Great album, it was very different from the only other album of theirs that I know, Rumours. Standout tracks for me were Think About Me and Angel.
It's never heard of Nick Drake before this album came up. I enjoyed it, very chill and minimal. Just a man and his guitar.
Pretty good album. I don't know if it's one I will return to, but I enjoyed listening to most of it. I like it more than Songs In The Key Of Life. In a weird way, I wish I liked Stevie Wonder's music more than I do.
Really great background music while doing something else like working or choking.
Very 80s, synthy and whiny. I think I like it... Time will tell if I like it enough to listen to it again in the future (I probably won't).
I like it, but I can't tell if this album is really cool, or incredibly boring. I think it's his voice.
Great voice, sort of a mellow folky style of music, but in the end just not really for me. I would give it a 2.5 if I could.
This album is so unhinged and I'm fully on board. It's so weird, experimental and full of nonsense.
I've never listened to big band music before, but I will be going forward. This was a really fun album.
Pretty fun, it feels ahead of it's time. This is what all live albums should aim for, I love the energy.
Kind of meh on my first playthrough. After a second listen, I really started to enjoy it. It really doesn't sound like a 70s album, more late 90s/early 00s.
A classic 90s alt rock album. Favorites were Today, Quiet and Disarm.
Pretty good British pub rock album. Doesn't take itself too seriously.
This was pretty meh, I can't say I'm a fan of this Bowie era.
So much soul and emotion, really liked this one. Easy 5
Not my thing at all, it all sounds the same. Boring and generic sounding.
Stone cold classic hip-hop album. Feels way ahead of it's time.
Strong opening track, the rest is kinda blah.
Really good album from beginning to end. Just a great 70s rock album.
It's ok. I'm not much of a country music lover, but if I had to listen to it, this is the kind I'd go for. I'd give it 2.5 if I could.
Never considered myself much of a blues fan, bit this was a great album. Really liked the crowd sounds/interaction.
It kind of all sounds the same, but I don't really care. Great album.
I enjoyed this, though I've never seen the movie. Gives chill and mysterious vibes.
Every song sounds the same. Very boring and bland.
Didn't necessarily dislike it, but not something I see myself coming back to.
Really enjoyed this album. Obvious standouts are Stand and Orange Crush.
Pretty good album. I think I get the whole Taylor Swift thing. I probably wouldn't revisit it, it's just not really for me.
Really good album, I'll definitely be checking out more of his stuff.
Could've listened to another 8 minutes of Cynicrustpetefredjohn Raga
I enjoyed this album. Feels VERY 90s. The title track is easily the best on the album.
I've always enjoyed REM when I've heard them but until recently hadn't listened to any of their albums back to front. So far I've heard this one and Green. I prefer this one without question. Definitely gonna save this one to revisit later.
I can definitely see why this wouldn't be for everyone. It can have a very depressing feeling to it. This is probably why I listened to it most as a teenager and young adult. I still really enjoy it, but don't find myself going back to it much.
I usually really enjoy 80s synthy, brooding stuff, but this one just didn't quite hit the mark. Not terrible though.
I wouldn't say this is a bad album necessarily, but it's nothing special, not entirely sure why it's on this list.
I can see why people like Taylor Swift but it's just not for me at all.
Really enjoyed this one. Fun and upbeat. The 2 singles are stellar.
Really enjoyed this one. It's so 70s. I enjoyed every second of it.
Meh, it's ok It kinda feels like blues for people who don't like blues music; pop blues.
Enjoyed this one more than expected. Love the synths and sax solos. It feels weirdly familiar and comfortable.
I enjoyed the first half more than the second. Overall pretty enjoyable.
I'm shamelessly copying this review from somebody else because they just put it so well. The album sustains an atmosphere that is gloomy, yet thoroughly gorgeous. It somehow manages to feel both claustrophobic and seductive. Really remarkable album.
I definitely enjoyed Speakerboxxx more. I kinda wish they'd been released separately.
I don't really know if I liked this or not. The songs were so short I couldn't really get into them, but overall I liked their sound.
I went in with no expectations and was still let down. This is bad, just straight up boring.
A little odd to have a compilation album on this list, but I didn't really care in the end. This was such a joy to listen to.
I've always found that my favorite Zeppelin album is the one I'm currently listening to/listened to most recently.
I had heard of The Kinks, but never listened to them. Really enjoyed this, it has social commentary but feels very uplifting. Stand out track for me was Victoria.
Good album, but I can't help but feel like it would have been better with fewer features.
This album rocks. Lived the instrumentals and the general vibe of the album.
Maybe you need to be in a certain mood to enjoy this. I just found out very depressing and not especially interesting.
Really enjoyed this one, verging on a 5, but it didn't really blow me away. A solid 80s rock album.
Not for me. It's like rock for people who don't like rock. I only gave it a 2 because Born to Run is a great song.
It was alright. I liked their sound. Our House is the obvious highlight.
It's kind of all over the place, very chaotic. The production is pretty unique. I can't see myself listening to this ever again, so I guess I didn't really care for it.
I love it, such a vibe. Maybe not an everyday listen, but under the right circumstances... Favorite track is Ketchy Shuby.
A masterful blend of soulful production and introspective lyricism, showcasing the rapper at his best. Kanye absolutely nailed the production; rich, soulful samples that perfectly compliment Common's verses.
Not my favorite Zeppelin album but still great. The first half is definitely stronger.
Just an unbelievable live album. I love all of his ad-libing. If only this had been filmed.
This was weird. It's both hard and not hard to believe this was made in the 60s. I ended up feeling confused after listening to it, maybe that's the point? I have no idea, but I dig it...I think
I've never been a huge Police fan. I like their hits but the rest are kinda meh.
I'm not really a Metallica fan, but I enjoyed this album. The singles are the standout tracks, I also enjoyed Sad but True.
This album fucking rocks.
I'd been meaning to listen to this for a while and completely forgot about it. I'm in to it.
Loved every second of it.
Easy listing, but just not for me.
Beautiful album. So soulful, I could really feel everything.
Great rock album. Starting feeling a little repetitive/samey after a while but I still enjoyed it.
This is such a strange album. It sounds like complete nonsense most of the time. I think I'd need to take A LOT of drugs to enjoy this. I didn't completely hate it but I can't imagine a scenario which I would listen to it again.
I'd never heard of X until now. Nothing spectacular but pretty enjoyable.
Another group I'd never heard of before. Nothing super standout, but overall very enjoyable, great background music.
The singles are excellent, the rest are kinda meh.
Absolute loved every second of this. I want to live in this album. Helplessly Hoping is such a beautiful song.
This was good. Not necessarily good enough for me to seek out more of their work though.
Really dug this album. It transported me to 90s New York.
I'm kinda conflicted on this one, I enjoyed it and really loved the energy but I just don't see myself listening to it again. I think I enjoyed the nostalgia it gave me more than the actual music.
Really loved this album all the way through. It somehow makes me feel nostalgic even though I wasn't born for nearly 20 years after this came out. It just feels familiar and comfortable.
I felt like I was chilling on a secluded beach in Cuba. I don't know how often I'll come back to the album but I've saved it.
Beautiful voice. At points it feels quite emotionally charged and at others, feels pretty peaceful and contemplative. The album was a little long for my liking.
Questionable vocals and simple lyrics, often mundane subject matter, great production.
So, krautrock is kinda weird, but I kinda liked it. My favorite track was Jennifer.
One of those rare perfect albums. I wish there was a rating above 5.
The album kinda sucks you in, starting with an amazing track in Roundabout. The rest doesn't quite hit the same and sometimes feels a little experimental. I still really enjoyed it, but they kind show their entire hand in the first track.
The only Blur song I had heard prior to this was Song 2. I went into this album not expecting a whole lot and was pleasantly surprised. I really enjoyed it. Overall, a solid 90s Brit-pop-rock album. My favorite track was Miss America.
Boring and generic, no real substance.
For some inexplicable reason I really wanted to like this but I just didn't. Very boring, must be an acquired taste.
Loved it, 80s pop perfection.
This was ok. I didn't love it nor did I hate it. Pretty easy listening for the most part.
I thought the album was....ok. It was all downhill after the first track.
Really loved this. Hearing the originals of so many songs I recognize was really cool.
Kinda feels like a cross between Pink Floyd and Queen. I really enjoyed it. My only criticism is that it's a little too long.
I liked it, but I really can't see myself listening to it outside of this.
One of the greatest "modern" rap albums. It's a powerful narrative album that blends personal stories with social commentary.
Every song sounds like the last. Not bad per se, but doesn't really belong on this list.
¯\_(ツ)_/¯ it's ok I guess.
It's ok, kinda samey all the way through
I really enjoyed this album. I'd never heard of Harry Nilsson, but I definitely recognized a few of the songs.
I didn't love it, but I also didn't hate it as much as some people. I get that he sounds the same and kinda whiney throughout, but I still kinda dug it.
Some pretty questionable lyrics, but it hits the nostalgia chord so 2 stars it is.
Wow, this is so bad. Couldn't get through the whole thing.
Really enjoyed this. From the big band sounds to Ray Charles' incredible voice. So good
Very over the top and cheesy, in a good way. I got a little tired of it by the end, but overall I enjoyed it.
Wow, this was really good. Vibes for days. I can't wait to dig in to their other albums.
Wow, this was flippin awesome. I knew some of Prince's hits but never listened to a full album. I'm left wondering what I've been doing with my life.
I still remember hearing Breathe for the first time as a naive 10yr old thanks to Big Shiny Tunes 2. It blew my mind. I wish I could say I've been a die hard Prodigy fan ever since but I never really followed up after being consumed by that track. Mostly due to difficulty accessing and buying music at that age. This album goes so hard and will definitely be added to the rotation.
Pretty mellow album, but I just don't ever find myself in the mood to listen to reggae music. Enjoyable overall but not an everyday listen for me.
I grew up on the album, it's a top 5 best hip-hop albums of all time. Wu-Tang is forever.
Not really my jam, but I enjoyed it more than I expected to.
Really love the blend of blues and psychedelic rock. This is right up my alley.
For some reason I had it in my head that I liked Elvis Costello. This album was a reality check. I did not like this album. You know how some people have a really punchable face? That's how I feel about his voice.
If I separate the man from the music, the album is ok. A little self-indulgent at times. Layla is the obvious standout. Eric Clapton is kind of a piece of shit.
A true pop masterpiece. Just what the doctor ordered for a Monday morning.
I liked it, but I'm a sucker for 80s new wave.
I didn't necessary dislike it, but it was a little boring.
I don't know much about jazz music but I do know that this is the exact kind that I like.
It's messy, exciting and a little spooky. She has such a great voice. Female lead rock bands rule, I just wish there were more on this list.
Wow, what an album. Easily one of the best live albums I've ever heard. I love all the crowd noise and Johnny's banter with them.
I think up until now I've only really heard their newer stuff, so this didn't sound how I expected it to. Having said that I still enjoyed it.
Meh, this was ok. A couple good songs but the rest just had me wishing I was listening to The Beatles.
It was an ok album, I didn't find it to be anything really special. To my untrained ear, it just sounded like The White Stripes.
Really liked this. Not my favorite album of his, but still really good. Favorite track was Cracked Actor, loved the opening chord.
Yes! More if this please. Loved every second of it, 90s grunge fucking rocks.
This album is strange, but in a good way. Where is my mind is probably the most "normal" song, the rest are pretty unhinged at times.
Too much harmonica. Maybe it would be better on speakers instead of earbuds.
2 Dylan albums is a bit much, as it turns out there is such a thing as too much Dylan. Having said that, I enjoyed this album more than Blonde On Blonde, but not by much. Bob Dylan is better in small doses, one song at a time; listening to an entire album is tiring.
Such a fun album. You can tell they had fun making this one. I love the comparison of this album to Sgt. Pepper's Lonely Hearts Club Band. Best hip-hop album in this list so far.
Wild Is the Wind by Nina Simone is raw, soulful, and haunting. Her voice draws you in, making each song feel deeply personal and unforgettable.
It's different from her usual stuff, with a vibe that's kind of reflective. I prefer her earlier work. Not necessarily a factor in my review or rating, but Ray of Light made me nostalgic for Windows XP.
A heavy metal classic with iconic riffs, intense vocals, and a few memorable tracks. Not really the kind of music I see myself listening to on any regular basis.
At first, All Things Must Pass feels a bit intimidating with a length of 2hrs, but once I settled in, it was a ride I didn't want to end. The mellow, introspective vibe flows through each track, revealing layers of George Harrison’s creativity and depth. It's a beautifully immersive experience, and by the end, I was left wanting even more of that soulful, meditative sound.
