The Rolling Stones
4/5
Sounds a lot like the other Stones albums. Forgot how much I liked Street Fighting Man. 4/5

Ella Fitzgerald
2/5
Listened to the first 4 songs. I get it. There's 3+ hours of this. It's fine. Docking it a star for being so long. Ridiculous. lol 2/5.

Radiohead
3/5
The whole album just kind of blended together. Nothing stood out. It was fine background music, but not a big fan of the album overall. Didn't dislike it enough to just go 2 starts, but it was almost there. 2.5/5 (going to round this one up)

Neil Young
4/5
Folk rock, but a lot of emphasis on the rock/soft rock, which I enjoyed. I don't think I've heard any of the songs from this album before, but really liked every one. 4/5

Talking Heads
3/5
Weird. Not really my cup of tea, but can appreciate it for what it is. Really like the music on Drugs. 2.5/5
Jeff Buckley
4/5
I've heard the hits from this album (specifically Last Goodbye), but haven't listened all the way through before. It's a mid-90s alt ass album for sure. Really prefer when he shows off his clean vocals like in Lilac Wine and Hallelujah, as opposed to some of the whining, but to each their own. Eternal Life might be my favorite after listening to this entire album. Just a straight forward rock song. 4 stars.
Johnny Cash
3/5
What makes this album unique is the banter from Johnny between songs. He's a heck of an entertainer, not just musician. I like the songs better on Folsom Prison Live, but this is a fun listen as well. 3.5/5.
Kendrick Lamar
3/5
The Police
2/5
I bet if I took a deep dive into the lyrics I might appreciate it more, but through just one listen I'm not a fan. It seems like everyone has an opinion on Sting's voice, but I'm impartial. Every Breath You Take is obviously legendary, and I liked Synchronicity I and II and King of Pain, but overall, I just don't like the new wave/funk 80s genre. 2/5
Nick Drake
2/5
Beautiful music. If this album was just music or another singer I would have loved it, but I just can't get into his voice. 2/5.
The Cure
4/5
I must preface this review that it's Friday afternoon and I'm in a good mood. But.... who knew I was a Cure fan? I did not. I haven't listened to much, but sad I was missing out. Time to get into more GOTH ROCK. 4/5
The Smiths
3/5
The Cure and The Smiths on back to back days. Cemetry Gates and Bigmouth Strikes Again stuck out as favorites. 3.5/5
White Denim
3/5
A lot of jazz flute. Pretty good jam band stuff. 3.5/5
Bob Dylan
4/5
I've always been hit or miss with Dylan. Sometimes I'll listen to song after song and other times I change it as soon as it comes on. This album is the best I've heard from him. Mostly because it's more rock than folk. From a Buick 6 is the song that stood out for me (other than Like a Rolling Stone obv). 4/5.
Bruce Springsteen
4/5
One of the better Springsteen albums I've heard.
Run-D.M.C.
3/5
Fun to see the evolution of hip-hop.
John Coltrane
3/5
Meh. Expected a little more from this album from what I've heard from Coltrane. 3/5
Julian Cope
4/5
Timeless psychedelic music. Going to have to dig into his other stuff. 4/5
MGMT
4/5
This album was EVERYWHERE in 2007. Still holds up and great listening to such huge hits again. 4/5
Louis Prima
4/5
Timeless songs you still hear in pop culture today. 4/5.
Kanye West
5/5
Separating artist from the art, this is my favorite hip hop album. 5/5
The Undertones
3/5
Not bad, not great. 2.5/5
Sebadoh
3/5
Ok, the first few songs I wasn't really liking this album. Around Sister it really started picking up for me and enjoyed it. 3/5.
Sufjan Stevens
2/5
Been awhile since I've listened to this one. Love the premise. Not a fan of most of the songs. Chicago and Decatur stick out the most. 2/5.
Neil Young
4/5
Folk rock, but a lot of emphasis on the rock/soft rock, which I enjoyed. I don't think I've heard any of the songs from this album before, but really liked every one. 4/5
Green Day
3/5
This album just never did it for me. Hot topic punk. That was the genre I loved the most back then too. I don't dislike all Green Day, but never got big into this album. All that being said, I respect the popularity they gained from this and the broadway show. 3/5.
The Chemical Brothers
1/5
TOUGH listen. It's obviously a praised album and band, but not a fan of the type of music.
Ok, I had to stop listening after Setting Sun. This was torture for me. 1/5.
Buddy Holly & The Crickets
5/5
I loved this album. Always really dug the 50s pop rock and this is the best of it.
Laura Nyro
3/5
Great voice. I couldn't really tell what era this album was from. I don't know if I'd listen to this again, but wasn't upset at all about going through it for the first time. 3/5.
Queen
2/5
I like almost everything I've heard from Queen previously, but this album just wasn't for me. Stone Cold Crazy stood out. If this is on the 1001 albums list, I'm guessing every one of Queen's albums are.
Meat Loaf
4/5
We need more rock operas.
Rufus Wainwright
2/5
Someone's review was "this is the worst Radiohead album" and I'm not sure there's a better explanation.
Sepultura
3/5
Really liked this. C.I.U stood out to me.
The Jesus And Mary Chain
4/5
Had this album at a 3, but after reading about their influence on other bands I had to bump it up to a 4.
The Velvet Underground
4/5
Only song I didn't really care for was The Murder Mystery. Pale Blue Eyes was my favorite, but it's their most recognized song, so that wasn't a surprise. Really liked After Hours as well (sung by their drummer). Another influential album from late 60's/70's. 4/5.
Curtis Mayfield
4/5
SMOOOOOTH.
SZA
2/5
Not my type of music. Broken Clocks and 20 Something stood out for me. 2.5/5
Beastie Boys
4/5
Another album I didn't realize was that old. Songs that stood out (other than the classics) The New Style and Time To Get Ill. 4/5
The Sonics
5/5
Rock n roll band playin rock n roll. Not reinventing the songs we all know, but playing them loud and proud. 5/5.
LCD Soundsystem
3/5
I enjoyed this a lot more than I thought I would. I was never into his music when it first came out. After reading some reviews before listening, people complained about the same song over and over. I didn't feel that way at all. Us V Them stood out. 3.5/5
Dusty Springfield
3/5
Beautiful voice. Don't Forget About Me stood out, besides obv Preacher Man. 3/5
Common
2/5
I like the lyrics, but not the music. 2.5/5.
Brian Eno
2/5
Just didn't really care for this. Here He Comes and By This River stood out. 2.5/5
Fela Kuti
3/5
After doing some research seems like a powerful jazz album for the time. 3/5
U2
3/5
Really only know the U2 hits. Really liked this one. Red Light stood out, with New Year's Day still probably being my favorite. 3.5/5
Radiohead
3/5
The whole album just kind of blended together. Nothing stood out. It was fine background music, but not a big fan of the album overall. Didn't dislike it enough to just go 2 starts, but it was almost there. 2.5/5 (going to round this one up)
Pearl Jam
5/5
Sure, I'll listen to this one again. 5/5
The Verve
3/5
I thought I'd like this album a lot more than I did. It started off in the 4 star range, but didn't keep me interested at all. 3/5.
Stereolab
3/5
Nothing I'd choose to play in the car, but nice soundscape for background music while I work. 3/5.
Nas
4/5
I've listened to this album many times before. Never disappoints. 4.5/5
Earth, Wind & Fire
3/5
Groovy funk. Not music a really listen to, but in the right mood I dig it. 3.5/5.
Frank Sinatra
2/5
Big fan of Sinatra, but not this one. Every song is sad and gloomy which makes it a tough listen all the way through. 2/5.
The Stooges
4/5
I've heard most of this album before. Really like it, and then comes the We Will Fall song. Almost knocked it down a full star for that. Finally had to skip the song 7 mins in.
The rest of the album is great though. Sounds similar to the other 60s rock albums that were coming out at that time. 4/5
Jimi Hendrix
4/5
Wish this album was tightened up a bit, but it's still so good. 4.5/5
The Who
4/5
Just another banger album from the 60s. One Album A Day has been good to me lately. 4.5/5.
The Byrds
3/5
I thought I was going to stay on a roll and have another 60s album ranked at 4 or higher, but this one just didn't do it for me. Nothing really stood out like I thought it would. It was still an easy listen though. 3/5.
Aphex Twin
2/5
Not a fan of electronic music, but this was very chill and easy listening. 2.5/5.
Tori Amos
2/5
Couldn't really get into this. Tear in Your Hand stood out. 2/5.
Tom Petty and the Heartbreakers
3/5
Kind of bland compared to what came next for Petty. Really liked Mystery Man and the other big hits. 3/5.
The Smashing Pumpkins
4/5
Heard this one a bunch. 4.5/5
Alanis Morissette
5/5
So good. So many hits. 5/5
Circle Jerks
4/5
I wasn't even in the mood for this and it hit. 4.5/5.
The Rolling Stones
4/5
Sounds a lot like the other Stones albums. Forgot how much I liked Street Fighting Man. 4/5
Crosby, Stills & Nash
4/5
I've just been getting a steady list of solid 60's rock albums lately. 4/5.
Carole King
4/5
Easy, easy, easy listening. It took me a couple songs to get into it, but then was really hooked on this one. It's a shame there isn't a half star rating, because this is a true 4.5/5. Almost 5.
Traffic
3/5
I think I've only heard one of these songs before. Very middle of the road. Didn't dislike it. Wasn't blown away by anything. 3/5.
Taylor Swift
3/5
Not my fav album of her, but still really like it. 3.5/5
Portishead
2/5
Just nahh from me. 2/5.
Bruce Springsteen
4/5
Always down for listening to this one. 4.5/5
Linkin Park
4/5
The Sensational Alex Harvey Band
3/5
The music was actually really good, like his vocals, but the premise is a little crazy. 3/5
Rush
4/5
Another 4.5/5. Just a song or so away from being a 5.
The Beach Boys
5/5
I got this album the day after Brian Wilson died. Not sure if coincidence or not, but what an impact on pop music. 5/5
Depeche Mode
3/5
Like I've said before, just not my genre. Still a very listenable album though. 3/5.
Fatboy Slim
1/5
5 for the album cover, 1 for the album.
Sonic Youth
4/5
Lots of noise. I liked it.
Tom Tom Club
2/5
Genius of Love beat is iconic. The whole album is just a little too goofy for me.
3/5
A lot of howling and harmonica. Not my fav Dylan record on here, but still some great songs. 3/5.
Jimi Hendrix
4/5
Rock God. Loved this album! 4.5/5
The Isley Brothers
3/5
The Everly Brothers
3/5
Didn't like this one as much as others of this time and genre.
Bob Dylan
3/5
Bluesy, late Dylan. Not my fav, not terrible. Tryin' to Get to Heaven stood out. Didn't realize he wrote Make You Feel My Love either. 3/5.
Ella Fitzgerald
2/5
Listened to the first 4 songs. I get it. There's 3+ hours of this. It's fine. Docking it a star for being so long. Ridiculous. lol 2/5.
Michael Kiwanuka
4/5
This was a nice surprise. I hadn't heard of him before. You Ain't the Problem and Hero stood out. 4/5.
Little Richard
3/5
This was a great album, but once you hear a couple of the songs you've heard them all. 3.5/5.
Captain Beefheart & His Magic Band
3/5
Heard a few of his songs before, but not much from this album. Psychedelic 60s!!!
The B-52's
3/5
Fun music, but really have to be in the right frame of mind. Didn't like this album as much as some of their other songs I've heard though. 3/5.
Pet Shop Boys
3/5
Looking at some of the genre tags and reviews beforehand, I didn't think I was going to like this one, but actually wasn't bad at all. Stood out: I Wouldn't Normally Do This Kind of Thing and Yesterday When I Was Mad. 3.5/5
Talking Heads
3/5
Not much in there that I care for, but not terrible. Probably wouldn't listen again. 3/5.
Amy Winehouse
2/5
Her other album is great. I suffered through this one. 2/5.
Emmylou Harris
3/5
The country/honky tonk songs I liked a lot. Some of the others I wasn't a fan on. 3/5
Carpenters
3/5
Actually a pretty good pop album. 3.5/5
Country Joe & The Fish
3/5
Not terrible psychedelic rock, but I've heard better. I've been giving a lot of 3's lately, but there's just been some run of the mill stuff that's not terrible, but didn't blow me away. 3/5
Beatles
4/5
Solid pop album from the Beatles. Not my favorite of theirs, but easy listen. It's hard to rate some artist's albums because you know their entire body of work. 4/5
The Stone Roses
3/5
This album had the feel of the 60s to the 90s. Really liked the music and his calming vocals. I Am the Resurrection stood out. Don't Stop stood out as terrible. 3.5/5
Metallica
3/5
A lot of negative reviews on this one, but I liked the sound. Don't know if I'd ever come back to it, but a cool listen. 3.5/5.
Cornershop
3/5
Blended several genres well and kept my attention, but didn't care for every track. Actually liked just the instrumentals like Coming Up the best. 3/5
Peter Frampton
4/5
Dig the guitars and vocals. It's been awhile since I've heard this album. Still sounds good. 4/5.
Stevie Wonder
3/5
Superstition stood out like a sore thumb. It's obviously one of his biggest hits, but the entire vibe of that song was different than most of the album. We needed more of that!! Tuesday Heartbreak and You are the Sunshine of my Life also stood out. 3/5
The Rolling Stones
4/5
I liked this album a lot. More than just bluesy rock from the Stones. Really like the range of instruments used. 4/5
Radiohead
2/5
Snoozer for me. 2/5
Black Sabbath
5/5
Best Sabbath I've heard. Gritty, gloomy, original. RIP OZZY (today's the day after he passed) 5/5
The Undertones
3/5
Fun merger of 60s/70s pop with a little more punk/rock. Born 20 years earlier I could see myself listening to this on heavy rotation. 3.5/5
Black Sabbath
4/5
Was kind of surprised with the instrumentals on this album. There was a different feel on this album to the first few I've heard. Really enjoyed this one though. 4/5
Simon & Garfunkel
2/5
Didn't like most of this album. Just very soft and not what I prefer. I did like the song A Simple Desultory Phillipic a lot. 2.5/5.
Creedence Clearwater Revival
5/5
Recently did a deep dive on CCR. The run of albums in '69-'70 they had was incomparable. Probably 3 of their 6 albums in that time period are 5s for me. This is one of em. 5/5
Boston
5/5
This just has too much star power not to give it a 5. It's stood the test of time and is one of the quintessential 70's arena rock album. 5/5
Björk
2/5
Some of the songs were ok (Aeroplane and Big Time Sensuality stood out), but overall I was not a big fan. 2.5/5.
Fela Kuti
3/5
Just good, upbeat music that you can't help but tap your toes to. I already had his Zombie album on here, and I seemed to like that one more, but this was a good one too. 3/5
AC/DC
5/5
Another classic rock album with hit after hit. 5/5
Lenny Kravitz
2/5
This shows how hard it is to be Prince. Was an ok listen, but wouldn't come back to it. My Precious Love stood out. 2/5
Giant Sand
3/5
Some of the songs that sounded more authentic alt-country I liked, but still kind of a boring album. Singer reminds me of Shawn Mullins. lol. Not a bad listen though. Satellite and Shiver stood out. 3/5.
Slipknot
4/5
One of the bands I've been listening to the most the past few years. This isn't my fav album of theirs, but has a couple of my fav songs. 4/5
Elton John
3/5
Terrible cover art. :) Couple great songs, but I wasn't thrilled with all of it. Levon and Tiny Dancer carry. 3.5/5
The Doors
5/5
Heck of a journey we go on here. Soul Kitchen has been my favorite song of this album, and Alabama Song stood out this time around as well. 5/5
Madonna
1/5
I'm just thinking of all the albums that aren't on this list that could have been over this one........ It does encapsulate that weird time between 90s/00s pop. Didn't mind Don't Tell Me. 1.5/5
Tricky
1/5
Pretty trippy album. Black Steel stood out, mostly bc of a more rock beat. An ok listen, but just background noise for the most part.... (update around track 9) Ok, by the end of this I almost had to turn it off. 1/5
The Prodigy
3/5
I read this as an English electronic album and had my doubts. At the beginning I was ready for a low score and possibly skipping the end like I've had to do on other electronic albums, but then it kind of put me in a trance. This was really enjoyable and listened to it all. I've heard some Prodigy before, but this just caught me at the right moment and was impressed. 3.5/5
Buena Vista Social Club
3/5
Music that transports you to another place. 3.5/5
Ray Charles
4/5
Shows that classic songs are classic in any genre. Loved the Hank Williams covers. 4/5
Deep Purple
4/5
Is there a more iconic riff than Smoke on the Water? Tasty licks all over this album. 4/5
Les Rythmes Digitales
2/5
EDM is either growing on me, or the last couple I've gotten has been better than every other one I've listened to. With the description and cover art I went into this album just knowing it was going to be a 1 and not finishing the album....... I liked most of this album. I don't see another scenario where I'd listen to it, but wasn't a bad listen. 2/5.
Muddy Waters
4/5
Haven't heard this live one before, but wouldn't expect anything less. 4/5
The Band
3/5
Love the sound, but not a lot of songs that really stick out. 3.5/5
Metallica
5/5
Big dumb fun 5/5
The Jesus And Mary Chain
1/5
I try to listen like it's my first time listening to it in the year it debuted. This one must have been a trip. NOW though... it's a tough listen. Lots of noise and static. Like listening to a dentist drill. This wasn't an enjoyable listen for me. 1.5/5.
Janis Joplin
4/5
The band sounds great, her vocals are insane. Very close to being a 5 for me. Would have loved to hear what came next from her. 4.5/5.
Buck Owens
3/5
Solid honky-tonk album, but not one of my favorites. 3/5
Johnny Cash
5/5
This is an album that really got me into traditional country music at a young age. His personality is so funny in this too. Just a damn good time. 5/5
A Tribe Called Quest
4/5
Everything is Fair stood out. Great album!
King Crimson
2/5
When it was rocking I liked it. When the prog kicked it there was just a lot of bad noise. 2.5/5
Buffalo Springfield
3/5
Kind of liked the songs that Neil Young wasn't doing vocals on the best. Good Time Boy stood out. 3.5/5.
Roni Size
2/5
Had to turn this off. Usually I rank those albums 1, but I did like what I heard. It was just song after song of the exact same. In small sample size this is good. 2/5.
Blur
2/5
After only knowing Song 2, I expected a little more from this band. After the first couple songs it's pretty uneventful. 2/5
Stevie Wonder
4/5
It's been awhile since I've listened to this one, but you can hear the influence he has on all genres of music from the time this was released. 4/5
Creedence Clearwater Revival
4/5
Not one of my favorite albums of theirs, but even their bottom tier albums are better than most. I mentioned it on my review of Cosmo's Factory, just one of the greatest runs in American music history. Lodi is also one of my fav CCR songs. 4/5
Frank Zappa
4/5
Fun, crazy album. Loved the music. A couple songs went on a little long, but overall a great album. 4/5
Elvis Costello & The Attractions
2/5
Not really a fan of his vocals. Don't like the new wave vibes. 2.5/5
Yeah Yeah Yeahs
3/5
Another one I haven't listened to in awhile, but still holds up. It's kind of bland in spots, so a 3/5.
Kanye West
5/5
Separate the art from the artist. "You know the kids gonna act a fool when you stop the programs for after school and pay DCF's... some of em dyslexic, they favorite 50 Cent song "12 Questions"
Richard Thompson
3/5
Big fan of a few songs, but it all started to sound the same. Not a huge fan of their voices, although I do like some of his stuff.
Kings of Leon
2/5
I like how this album is a little more raw than their newer ones, but not liking his voice on this one.
Hole
4/5
Great album. Haven't listened to much of them, but might have to check out the rest now. 4/5
Fleet Foxes
3/5
Not bad, not real great. Just kind of dull songs that seem to be on repeat. No real hooks. Middle of my road, so 3.
King Crimson
2/5
Not a big fan of prog rock and this didn't change my mind. Whatever that was during Moonchild was a bummer. 2/5
PJ Harvey
4/5
This was really close to a 5. Loved the noise. I will def be checking more of her stuff out and coming back to this one. 4.5/5
Pink Floyd
5/5
I know it's pedestrian to just give this album a 5, but I started it and just kind of went into a trance. It really is that good. 5/5
Penguin Cafe Orchestra
3/5
Nice and relaxing. Chartered Flight stood out. 3.5/5
The Rolling Stones
5/5
After listening to this album in its entirety, this might be my fav Stones album. No skips. 5/5
4/5
Just listened to this a month or so ago, but went ahead and listened again. A couple of the biggest singles from the 90s on here. 4/5.
Elvis Presley
3/5
The version of Elvis can get kind of boring. Prefer the early work, but there's a couple great songs in here. 3.5/5
Ute Lemper
3/5
This really grew on me as it went on. You Were Meant For Me stood out. 3.5/5.
The Flaming Lips
4/5
People calling this album boring in the reviews, and I just don't get it. This was a great album and easy to get through. First song, Fight Test, stood out right away.
Radiohead
3/5
I liked this one a lot more than Kid A which I had before on this list. Still don't get the HYPE hype that Radiohead gets, but this was better. 3.5/5
Leonard Cohen
2/5
Just a bummer of an album. Everything quiet and too mellow and gloomy. So Long, Marianne stood out. 2/5.
Manic Street Preachers
4/5
I've never heard of this band or any songs. This is why I do this, to find bands like this. Excellent sound. 4/5
The Last Shadow Puppets
3/5
I like the throwback sound of British pop on this fairly modern all-star cast album. It kind of got bland after listening for awhile, but still an album you can just put on and listen through it. Another album that I didn't know existed before this. The Meeting Place stood out. 3.5/5
The Associates
1/5
This sucks. Synth pop is really one of my least fav genres. 1.5/5
Duke Ellington
4/5
I can't mess this up, because it says one of my least fav genres is jazz in my summary which isn't true. This is a long album, no doubt. I'm 7 songs in and I feel like I can knock this whole album out, because it's so entertaining, but we will see. Take the A Train is my first one that's stood out.
Track 17. I really like the album, but just tired of listening. I really do think I'll come back to this at a later time to finish it up or visit the full thing again. 4/5.
Public Enemy
3/5
Great early 90s rap with a LOT of substance. 3.5/5
Al Green
4/5
Beautiful, painful album. I've Never Found a Girl stood out. 4/5
Rod Stewart
3/5
Liked a few songs, but didn't love it by any means. Country Comfort and Cut Across Shorty stood out. 3/5
Motörhead
4/5
Lots of rock and thrash. Really liked this one. It's a lot of the same sound song after song, but was good enough I didn't mind. Capricorn stood out. 4/5
David Bowie
4/5
The first half of this was great.... I guess I just wasn't ready for the instrumentals. Looking back at it now they were good.... I just didn't expect the shift in the album. Weeping Walls stood out in the second half. Every song before Be My Wife was also very entertaining. I'm going to revisit this album. After realizing what it was I'm very intrigued. 4/5
Aretha Franklin
4/5
What a powerhouse! A lot of hits on this album. (Sweet Sweet Baby) Since You've Been Gone stood out among the other hits. 4.5/5
The Specials
3/5
Fun album. A lot of the songs sounded the same, so can't say what stood out. Maybe Monkey Man and Little Bitch. Easy album to get through. 3.5/5
The Young Gods
4/5
Don't judge an album by its first track. The music on this was great (although obviously not understanding the lyrics). Charlotte stood out and liked the motor on most of the songs. Some reminded me of a French Rammstein. 4/5
David Bowie
4/5
Just had a Bowie album recently and loved it. Here's another.... love it as well. Maybe even more than the last. 4.5/5
New Order
3/5
Ugh, another synth-pop album. No real emotion either way on this. 3/5.
David Bowie
3/5
3rd Bowie in a week's span. This was my least favorite so far, but still some great songs here. Really liked the title track. 3.5/5.
Laibach
4/5
Second album in a week I'm comparing to Rammstein, but I guess industrial music in a foreign language gets that. Really liked the epic, march sounding songs like The Great Seal and Opus Dei and a few others. 4/5
4/5
I liked this album from the start. Supermassive Black Hole has been overplayed, and I didn't really like it to begin with, but there's other great songs on here. Take a Bow, Starlight, Invincible, and City of Delusion stood out 4.5/5
The Disposable Heroes Of Hiphoprisy
2/5
Some of the album isn't on Spotify. I get the social hip-hop genre, but didn't really think the lyrics or beats were great. 2/5
The Police
3/5
Just kind of a boring, weird album. Message in a Bottle will get you at least a star though. 2.5/5 (rounded to 3 because it's closer to that
Bob Dylan
4/5
Just listened to this not long ago, but don't mind doing it again. Love the different styles here and some songs are very fun. 4.5/5
Bob Marley & The Wailers
5/5
Even outside of the big hits, the whole album is a laid back vibe and loved every song. 5/5
Heaven 17
4/5
Just enough off the synth-pop beaten path that this was an interesting album for me. Immediately after I finished it I went back and listened to a few of the songs again. The Height of Frightening crawled into my ear and I had to listen to it a couple more times today. 4/5
Frank Sinatra
3/5
How can anyone be THIS in love. It was a good album, but like most Sinatra, it's going to sound about the same every song. 3/5
Metallica
4/5
One of the best album covers, and deserves all the praise it gets. Not my fav Metallica album, but it's up there. Disposable Heroes stood out. 4.5/5
The Stooges
4/5
Good rippppppin time. Best Stooges I've heard. Dirt stood out. 4/5
The Streets
2/5
The beats, lyrics, and flow were pretty bad. The concept story throughout the album made it interesting to listen to and saved this from being a 1. 2/5
Beatles
5/5
The perfect mix of The Beatles experimenting and pop hits. Shoutout LSD. 5/5
The Smiths
2/5
Good music, good lyrics. Morrissey's voice is unbearable for me. 2/5.
Radiohead
2/5
Very frustrating listen, as the other Radiohead albums have been. We Suck Young Blood sounded cool at first, but then the whining just kept going and killed it. Myxomatosis and Go To Sleep stood out. They were good. 2/5
The White Stripes
5/5
I actually just listened to a majority of The White Stripes catalogue last week, and this and Get Behind Me Satan are both easy 5s. I've listened to I Just Don't Know What to Do With Myself a handful of times since. 5/5
Paul Revere & The Raiders
3/5
As soon as the album came on I thought of Once Upon a Time in Hollywood. Kicks and Ballad of a Useless Man stood out. I wanted to give this a 4 after the first couple songs, but there's too many songs I didn't care for as the album went on. 3/5
Antony and the Johnsons
2/5
You Are My Sister and Fistful of Love stood out. Not a fan of most of this album, but there were some moments that kept it out of being a 1. 2/5
The Doors
4/5
I've heard this album quite a bit. Peace Frog stood out on this listen. 4.5/5
The White Stripes
5/5
See my comments on last week's White Stripes. :)
a-ha
2/5
The Sun Always Shines On TV stood out. Take on Me is the obvious song, but everything else I just didn't care for. 2/5
Nine Inch Nails
3/5
Have listened to most of this before, but not all the way through. The Becoming and Reptile stood out. Not a huge fan of this industrial music, but it had it's moments. 3/5
John Grant
4/5
Didn't like the album after the first couple songs, but then it started to pick up. I thought this might be a 2 or 3, but after the last song moved it up to a 4. A lot of fun lyrics. Sigourney Weaver, Silver Platter Club, Jesus Hates, Outer Space, and Queen of Denmark stood out. "I wanted to change the world, but I couldn't even change my underwear". I would like to dive into more of his music and the band he had before this. 4/5
Bruce Springsteen
3/5
Not my favorite album of his. I actually remember liking it more than I did on this listen. Like the large sound and emotion in the songs though. 3.5/5
Arctic Monkeys
4/5
Fake Tales of San Francisco, Mardy Bum, and Red Light Indicates stood out. Overall solid album.
Siouxsie And The Banshees
4/5
The guitar licks really stand out on this album. Liked it a lot. 4/5
The Sugarcubes
2/5
This album needs more punk and less post-punk/new wave sound. She has the voice for that. I couldn't find much that I really enjoyed. F***ing in Rhythm and Sorrow stood out. 2/5.
The Waterboys
4/5
This album kicked ass. Such an easy listen. Folksy/traditionaly/celticy then some straight rock n roll in some songs??? It wasn't too heavy on any of those elements though. A 22 track album seemed daunting, but the 1 hour 45 mins flew by. 4/5
Dr. Dre
3/5
Iconic album, iconic album cover. Have never been blown away by this album. 3/5
Pixies
4/5
Broken Face stood out and of course Where Is My Mind? Such a Nirvana before Nirvana album. 4.5/5
The Youngbloods
3/5
The overall sound is very soft, folksy, and easy listening, but can be dull in parts. The songs seem to run together. Sunlight stood out. Kind of the definition of a 3 score: nothing bad, nothing great. 3/5
The Stooges
4/5
Title of the album says it all. Penetration stood out, but liked it all. 4/5
Eagles
3/5
Chug All Night stood out. Go through these reviews and try not to find a Big Lebowski quote on the f'n Eagles, man. 3/5
