Tracy Chapman
Tracy ChapmanI can’t really get into this. This is radio music for a car I don’t want to be in. Boring and doesn’t make me want to tube into the lyrics, which are apparently worth listening to.

Less polished than the others. Didn’t love it
Skits are crude. Lyrics are extreme, but still set the tone for a generation to follow. Production is truly unique for each song.
Classic. Red Light indicated doors are secured, london taxi. Riot van is perfect.
Whiney, love song is the only single I’d listen to. A lot of repetitive production. Could cut a minute off each song.
So aggressive and angry. Surprised this was Rick Rubin. Cant say I enjoyed this.
Fine covers. Little slow for my liking. Maybe a sleep playlist adjacent album.
Classic
Solid psych rock, but nothing blew me away
Studio is better, but still Neil Young. My My being the only real great.
Only one hit on the album. Ads were a new concept/skits. Doesn't save album though.
I love this album, her voice belting. classic
JP in grandmas boy would listen to this. I thought immediately it fits in the matrix, only to see theyre on the soundtrack. good music to get in the groove to while working or focusing.
“Wouldn’t you miss me at all” Shame to hear how unfinished this is, while also knowing that Syd was quickly being consumed. Credit where it is due, he changed RnR forever, but it quickly left him behind.
Pleasantly enjoyed. Other user said Wilco with mariachi and I can’t unhear it. Solid album.
Better loud! I love this era or Radiohead although not my favorite album of theirs
jazzy psychedelic soul I’m here for.
Sade can sing to me every day for the rest of my life and I would be without complaint. I want to be sitting on the beach, maybe south of spain, listening to this. The band is incredible, her voice is so sultry and perfect. I have the entire box set and its still not enough.

This was the start of neo-soul. impressive how many instruments D'Angelo played himself on here. i love the production. Its basic and repetitive but in a good way when setting a scene...
there are moments i like. but i dont know where those moments were. this is all over the place. they must be on cocaine.
Love this style of old short jazz takes. Listened to a lot of this when in jazz band back in the day. Not my favorite Miles, but still classic for its time.
Great album. Showcases her voice while a little more life than in Blue.
this has some of my favorite Miles. so many badass moments. sadly as a straight through listen is it long, a little too long at times.
Ice cube has such a great flow and lyrical style. It Was a Good Day. Obviously a little outdated on the lyrics in some ways (homophobic) but also completely still on the nose for other lyrics (police brutality, ACAB)
The best Coldplay there has ever been. Garden State using Don't Panic as the start of the movie was perfect for a perfect soundtrack. Every song is just good. 40 Year Old Virgin made a gay joke using Coldplay and now every insecure hetero man hates them. Viva La Vida and everything beyond it feels like a 40 year old dad fighting to stay relevant with his kids, but those first two albums will live on.
Solid classic rock. Great guitar riffs. Clapton prime. I like it.
Hair band rock. It goes hard, but is it really that hard. Better than KISS or ACDC, but so many repetitive songs. Musicianship is impressive, but not enough to make me want to listen to the album often.
Kanye has lost it. He will go on as one of the greatest music makers ever. But after losing his mother, being in the media sphere of a family that has made a living on being televised (Kardashians), and having no living artists who are in a position to humble him, Kanye has his ego and mental health unchecked. This album is produced extremely well, but his vulgarity and themes are becoming more simple and juvenile. Funny he uses Justin Vernon who also seems to have achieved the status to be the arrogant indie king. Separate the art from the artist. I do not give a shit about his controversial/political/bigoted beliefs. I would enjoy this album more if the first 5 albums weren't already perfect.
Reading reviews and seeing the breakdowns about how this is the best produced album ever, and I don't know that I could disagree. Perfect. The layering, the way each song flows into each other, the way the album can repeat into itself with the heartbeat. I remember listening to the Great Gig in the Sky on full volume in the car during a rainstorm during a breakup. That shit hit hard.
This isnt it. Poetry, sure. But not much worth noting beyond that.
Reminds me of Sun Kil Moon. There are some good moments and the lyrics are clearly filled with meaning, but I would need to be in a certain mood to entertain them. Best of 2009?! Hardly even close. But I did enjoy Too Many Birds.
I dont love their honky tonk stuff. Two good songs on the album to open and close the album, but the rest didn't keep my attention. Felt dragging on.
Pop-like 60s psych rock while punk was taking over the scene. It had some good songs. Not sure I would listen to the whole album again. Especially when Spotify has the 2hr+ version with 100 bonus tracks.
I surprisingly enjoyed this. Seems brit pop, but with more drugs and fuckery. Fuzzy Logic seems to have been used in making this album, but its new to me and I will likely revisit it in the future.
Mediocre indie electronic. Multiple songs that had me check the time left halfway through. The good parts were obscured by repetition until it was dead. Was it influenced by a lot of the greats, sure. Has it influenced more modern bands I enjoy, sure. But I won't be revisiting this album.
This went from, "oh this could be good and fun" to "what the fuck" real quick. Where Is My Mind is the only saving grace, and even that has been remixed to be better! Very happy these songs were short.
I mean this with all disrespect, Fuck Tha Police. ACAB. Classic gansta rap, and ages just as you would expect. This isn't the best, but led the way for all hip hop today,
Couldnt enjoy this. Not for me.
One of the best. The storytelling. This album flows from one song to the next perfectly. The Album covers (both of them) the written title by SchoolBoy Q. The only song I skip on this album is Poetic Justice, and that was before the Drake beef started. The use of his parents on voicemails, the non linear flow of the story, the admission of crimes done to survive in his environment, hearing him lose his friend in a careless shooting. This album pulls you in and makes you think about what you're hearing.
Tainted love is obviously a classic, but not enough to enjoy the rest of the synth heavy 80s songs. So much creepy weird sex lyrics… and that’s coming from me!
I expected worse from the cover and names. Never heard of this band. Stealing another user's review. "not bad at all yet completely forgettable at the same time."
Such a classic. The harmonies together followed by the distinct vocals separated. The album is an example of a pleasant folky, peaceful, acoustic sixties album. I just wish some of the lyrics weren't so corny.
Who and what the fuck is a Bjork? As if you couldn't tell from the music, she grew up on a commune.
It's fine. Not sure how I feel about your biggest hit being a cover. The rest was fine singer/songwriter stuff.
What a jam. Really enjoyed some nondescript classic psychedelic rock. I recognized the title track, but wasn't too familiar. I enjoyed this.
I enjoyed this more than I thought I would. The good songs are good. The rest is whatever.
This is some classic hardcore/punk. Not always my style these days, but there was a time and place for it. Love that they're fast and hard.
"Hard" hair rock. Seems counter intuitive. Purposely misspelling the name to be "less punk" confuses me. Pour Some Sugar on Me is truly a shit song. The lyrics are so juvenile and lame.
I don't hold the Beach Boys close to my heart, and therefore, I don't know that I idolize Brian Wilson enough for this to blow me away. I understand his place in R&R history and as a songwriter, but it doesn't make me enjoy listening to this stuff.
When I was around 15 I came upon CCR. I loved it. Political, southern classic rock, whats not to love. But then I heard my mom say "Ugh Fogerty's voice" in a very unsettling way and I was scarred. 20 years later I can safely say, Mom, I feel the same way.
Impressive. But not sure the time or place of this for me. Maybe while I'm strolling the streets of a foreign country and want to feel like I am in a movie? Not sure!
wtf. "savior of dance" my ass. This should not be on this list.
Not my style of hiphop. Appreciate what it did for the culture and the movement of hiphop, but I am bored. The old school flow, and production, mixed with the anger and message of young men from the hood is surely a time piece, but not one ill revisit often.
She is an incredible vocalist. Not sure when I would listen to this though. I would enjoy her using her vocal skills for other genres or productions, otherwise it gets tiring and boring.
This could’ve been so good. Some beachy bossa nova was just what I needed. Sadly this fell short. Cheesy production, lame lyrics, mediocre really.
No thank you. Boring and uninspired.
Don’t mind Bowie new wave, but not nearly his best album. Title track Heroes is the best song. Great synth production.
American Pie the song, classic. American Pie the album, boring.
Some decent moments. Quite some annoying sounds in others. We already had Daft Punk. One hit on this album and it features kids singing, not my thing.
It’s fine. I much prefer Arthur or the Decline. Some basic Brit 60’s rock.
I remember when a friend in middle school got this before we should have. It was such a discovery. One of my favorites of west coast 90's rap. Laid back. With my mind on my money and my money on my mind. Such an iconic album cover too. Production is brilliant. Lyrics don't age well, surprise surprise.
Foreign exchange student showed me Chemical Brothers in high school and it blew my mind. The videos were awesome, the tempo was upbeat and fueling my young age debauchery. Found this right before I found drugs, what a combo. Noel Gallagher featured, fuck yeah. But all in all, the album can be long and drag. I think a "best of" compilation suits them better.
Standard 2005 indie. Hits like E-Pro and Girl stick out as the best. I enjoy the variety of sounds and styles while still holding a similar energy. The sounds of California and Hispanic influence are fun. I enjoyed this more than I wanted to.
I knew this album to be iconic, so therefore I stayed away. Now that I can sit and listen, there are splendid, almost perfect moments. But if those moments are supposed to carry the rest of the album, they are not strong enough for that. Suite: Judy Blue Eyes is really 7 and a half minutes?! Why? Helplessly hoping has some incredible melodies. This album walked so Fleet Foxes could sprint.
Love this album. Classic top jazz album with some of the best to ever do it together.
One of my favorite all time albums. Listened to Superstition so much when I was learning saxophone. But this album is what an album should be. A consistent cohesive flowing piece of art. Stevie is one of the best. His use of the synthesizers are so funky but buttery smooth. So much of my favorite music today is inspired by this album.
