RamonesHell. Yes. I live for The Ramones. Every song is a winner on this album. The tighest 29 minutes in punk rock history.
Hell. Yes. I live for The Ramones. Every song is a winner on this album. The tighest 29 minutes in punk rock history.
Psychedelic punk plus the Cabaret soundtrack-ish? Can't believe I've never even heard of them before. Shot by Both Sides added to Liked
Classic. Bring the Noise / Louder Than a Bomb added to Liked Songs.
Son of a Preacher Man already on the Liked Songs, added Don't Forget About Me
Haven't heard this album in 20+ years. Crosstown Traffic, All Along the Watchtower, Voodoo Child (Slight Return), and House Buring Down all added to Liked Songs.
Loved this! What a groove. Cloud Nine, I Heard it Through the Grapevine, Runaway Child Running Wild, Don't Let Him Take Your Love all added to Liked Songs.
Killer. Revolutionary. Brothers Gonna Work it Out, 911 is a Joke, Fear of a Black Planet, Fight the Power all added to Liked Songs.
New-to-me band. Not bad, a chill, vibey sound that pairs well with reading in bed. Crystalised added to Liked Songs.
I get the importance of this album. It forms the sonic bridge between 70s Velvet Underground and 90s grunge. But as a listening experience, it wasn't my favorite.
What the precise hell am I listening to? Bailed after track 3 or 4. Not for me.
This was a STRUGGLE. Every song sounds the same.
Every. Last. Song. Is 5 stars.
Is this who Bill Nighy's character in Love Actually was based on?
I'm probably not on enough drugs for this.
I forgot how good this album is. Holy mother. Added to Liked Songs: Custard Pie, The Rover, In My Time of Dying, Houses of the Holy, Trampled Under Foot, Kashmir, In the Light, Ten Years Gone, The Wanton Song, Boogie with Stu, Black Country Woman.
A powerful end to a legendary career. The Man Comes Around, Hurt, Personal Jesus, We'll Meet Again all added to Liked Songs.
This album begs for the crack, hiss, and pop of vinyl. It's very much of its time while also feeling comfortably familiar and timeless. You Make Me Feel So Young, Old Devil Moon, and I've Got You Under My Skin all added to Liked Songs.
Supermassive Black Hole and Knights of Cydonia were already on the Liked Songs prior. Added Starlight but the rest of the album was a bit of a miss for me.
I love Queen. Killer Queen, Now I'm Here, Stone Cold Crazy all added to Liked Songs.
Inoffensive mid 90s nostalgia. I can't go higher than 3 stars, but I also can't go lower than 3 either.
Not my favorite genre of music, but Dolly is a such a gifted storyteller that I enjoyed it anyway. Traveling Man added to Liked Songs.
This was a surprise for me. I'd heard of The Stone Roses before but I don't know if I had ever heard their music. I liked this a lot. She Bangs the Drums, Waterfall, Don't Stop, Made of Stone, and Fools Gold all added to Liked Songs.
I can see why this is polarizing, but I dug it. Underground Medecin and Futures and Pasts added to Liked Songs.
How did I miss this banger in the 90s? 14 year old me would have made this my entire identity. The Act We Act, A Good Idea, Helpless, If I Can't Change Your Mind all added to Liked Songs.
Honestly forgettable post-9/11 midrange heartstrings music. If we're including Springsteen on this list, this album wasn't the move.
I forgot about the CHOKEHOLD this album had on me in 2011. I honestly added every song to my Liked Songs as they came up. I may need therapy.
I don't know how to rate this one. When the opening guitar track hit, I was positive this was going to be a 5 star listen for me. Then the vocals arrived. It's not so much that he's a bad singer, as it is that his voice doesn't really match the band's energy. Overall, I added Kung Fu and Darkside Lightside to Liked Songs, but probably only because they had more band and less singer.
Not bad per se, but kind of forgettable. Further Away added to Liked Songs.
Some good stuff here, but a lot of misses too. Obviously Tiny Dancer is a classic, as is Levon and the title track, but the rest of the album is...fine. I'm rounding up to 4 stars but it's solidly 3.5. Above mentioned songs all added to Liked Songs.
New-to-me artist. I can see this annoying me if I were in the right (wrong) mood, but tonight I am really, really loving it. Pictures of Me, Angeles, and Rose Parade added to Liked Songs.
Well that's the first time I've ever heard "Reaganomics" in a song lyric. I haven't heard a Simply Red song since the last time I sat through one on the radio with my finger poised over the record button in hopes that the song after it wouldn't suck. I had a good run, I guess.
Honestly, hell yeah. Good Times Roll, My Best Friend's Girl, Just What I Needed, You're All I've Got Tonight, Moving in Stereo all either already on the Liked Songs or added to it. It's easy to forget how goddamned GOOD The Cars were.
My GOD, I hate Kate Bush. Running Up That Hill singlehandedly wrecked that whole season of Stranger Things for me, tbh.
Hell. Yes. I live for The Ramones. Every song is a winner on this album. The tighest 29 minutes in punk rock history.
Went into this with no idea what to expect and I was pleasantly surprised! HH is funkier than I remember.
Not bad. I prefer his earlier works but I had a good time with this one.
Entirely new listening experience for me. I'd never heard any desert blues or even anything from Mali, so I went in completely blind and was pleasantly surprised. Soubour added to Liked Songs.
The review that said this was modern-day Woody Guthrie was spot-on, for better or worse. I didn't hate this, tbh.
Listening to this through headphones feels like doing drugs in the 90s.
I meannnnnn. How can you argue with this?
Zeppelin's best, which is a high bar to clear.
Not for me.
I'd forgotten how much I loved Coldplay when this album first dropped. I don't know if it's just nostalgia or if it truly did hold up, but I still love this album. It feels like sinking into a warm bath. Don't Panic, Shiver, Yellow, Trouble, Everything's Not Lost all added to Liked Songs.
I was so bored.
I always forget about Skynyrd. I'm not huge into Southern Rock, but there are some good tracks on this one. I Ain't The One, Gimme Three Steps, and Free Bird all added to Liked Songs.
Back in the Saddle was already on my Liked Songs. Added Last Child, Rats in the Cellar, and Lick and a Promise. Solid 70s boogie-rock.
Lebowski jokes aside, this is a classic for a reason. The title track was already on my Liked Songs, and I added Life in the Fast Lane.
Ohhhhhh yesssss. Tori Amos is perfection. Source: I was a teenage girl in the early 90s.
I think the Spotify link might be broken. I got one, under three minute song by this band, and then some seemingly unrelated tracks that sound like the background music for a corporate recruitment video. I didn't hate the one track but I guess this gets 2 stars from me.
This is the definition of the word "epic".
What a pleasant surprise. I knew some Peter Gabriel songs before this but had never listened to a full album of his before. I added most of these songs to my Liked Songs.
I was really bored by this one.
This was my first time hearing Thelonious Monk, and while I didn't add anything to my Liked Songs, I enjoyed it. Solid 3 star listen.
I've always loved The Doors, but I'd never listened to this album all the way through. Not their best by any means, but there's still some gold in here.
I went into this only knowing one Kendrick song and came out of it a fan.
I don't think I stopped moving the whole time this album was playing.
I had a great time with this one. Sometimes music doesn't have to be A Big Artistic Thing. Sometimes it can just be a talented vocalist having fun with beloved songs.
Well that is certainly an album to which I have now listened.
Liked So You Want To Be a Rock n Roll Star. Dylan did My Back Pages so much better. This was...fine. It left me wanting more...something. Drugs, maybe?
I didn't make it through track 3. Life is too short.
What a once-in-a-lifetime talent Adele is. A high 4 stars from me, only because I think 21 was better.
