Very dated sound, but overall not a bad album by any means. I wouldn't go back to listen very often

Suprisingly this is the first time I've actually listened to this. I enjoyed the several motifs that kept reappearing throughout the album. The final track is also in such a good place on the record and sums it up entirely.

Reminds me of an industrial disney soundtrack. Oddly unsettling, a good album to listen to while it's raining.

Another band on the list of stuff I've been meaning to listen to. Now that I've listened to it I still feel the same way. This album was not very eye opening.

Very strange sound. Some parts of this album were pretty repetitive. The vocals didn't do much for me. I thought the album was gonna be much better when I started hearing some distorted guitar, but then it just fell back to the same repetitive lo fi groove.

Thought the length of this one was unique. I was able to listen to it 5 times in one sitting. Musically some of the songs were funny too which was nice

Overall did not enjoy this one. Tainted Love is the only redeeming quality for me. It was too long and too monotone.

I don't get the hype. Apart from Bohemian Rhapsody there aren't many good songs on this record. It feels like a mix of songs with no clear theme

Never heard of this band before. This album suprised me. It featured songs with multiple elements of rock that worked together surprisingly well.

His voice is as smooth as silk. Very funky, and an enjoyable listen.

First time listening to the entire album. Would expect nothing less from Muse.

Really interesting project. I enjoyed all of the variety. At moments I thought the album was over, but then I checked and realized it was still the same album playing. Only note is that it was very long.

Still not super into the Cure. Musically it's not very interesting. Usually pedaling on two chords for most of the songs. Vocals still aren't that appealing to me either

Her voice is perfect for psych rock. I've never listened to the whole album, but I was very pleased. The male vocalist's voice was a tad underwhelming.

After taking a class on Miles I was hesitant to willing listen to this, but I'm very pleased with this record. Amazing instrumentation and composition.

Full of bangers

Pretty good album, longer than I would like. Some of the songs were rather boring.

Interesting concept that I can appreciate, but musically confusing and directionless. I enjoyed some of the layered vocals, but most of the others were very cheesy and annoying.

This album was pretty easy listening. I enjoyed the music, but wouldn't go out of my way to listen to many songs. Reminds me of the Artcic Monkeys if they were around in '85.

Good classics

The tracks in the middle of the album were more enjoyable for me. Some of the beats were pretty unique w/ a slightly creepy vibe which was cool.

U2 just doesn't do it for me. There were actually some pretty good songs on this album which made it tolerable.

Almost painfully 80s. I enjoyed the cover of Walk this Way. Most of the songs were not very exciting to me unfortunately. Won't be going back to listen. I do like the energy of music during this time though, it's clear that they really enjoy making music and give it their all.

Ehh honestly not exciting. Most songs have the same easy going feel with no variation. He sounds like he's trying to impersonate Tom Petty (keyword: trying). I can see how people could like this though. He's like the Taylor Swift of this genre.

At first I thought it would be a cheesy 2000s album, but it got better as I listened. I thought it did a good job at portraying social economic issues within the US and especially challenges that African Americans face. The end was inspiring, and well executed.

As it progressed, I started drifting into a slumber because it's exceedingly long runtime which smothered my hope of rating this high. The music was good, but like who can listen to this entire thing for fun?

Didn't think this was anywhere near the same standards set by Speakerboxxx/The Love Below. The beats were annoying at times and the verses felt rushed and out of place.

Björk still not doing it for me. I found this to be incredibly boring and annoying. Whispering in my ear for about an hour.

The album ended before I even realized I was listening to it. I liked some of the songs, but overall not my style.

Hard to find this album, too bad the only way I could listen to it was through a shotty youtube playlist that was missing some songs. The bass was my favorite part of this album. I thought it was pretty well mixed too. The cover of Imagine was really good too. Can't say I would go back to this one.

In the grand scheme of this list so far this deserves a 5. Compared to all of the other Zeppelin albums, this might be one of my favorites because it stylistically feels more folk and contry inspired.

The storytelling on this album was excellent, which is probably one of the main reasons people love Patti Smith. The style reminds me of Bob Dylan but more punk inspired. I thought the vocals were mixed loud at times and some parts I found annoying. I do think that she definitely brings the passion and the energy that sells her storytelling. The fact that this is her debut album is crazy to me. Great record, but not for me.

This is more one of those rock for the sake of rock albums. Obviously a classic album that I'm happy to be listening to finally, but I don't think anything super special was done. Another debut album that shot them onto the scene to produce some of their greater works years later.

I really wanted to give this album a 4/5, but as it went on I decided to give it a 3. I think disk 1 is super solid, but then the album gets bogged down by a ton of filler songs on disk 2. Way too long, which led to the loss of effectiveness. Good music, but best listened to in bite sized pieces.

A mess of songs of all different styles. I felt like I was listening to a different album midway through. Apart from the well known Solsbury Hill, there isn't much to remember. Definitely feels like he was trying to find his sound.

I've been meaning to check out Genesis and I feel that this album lives up to the reputation I've heard. I really liked this album, and probably will be going back to listen again. Solid progressive rock album, that sounds of its time.

Borderline unlistenable punk made worse by Nick Cave's wild and seemingly drug induced lyrical compositions. I actually thought the music was much more interesting than other punk projects of the time. I think I would need to be in a very specific mood to listen to this album, and it would not be on my birthday. I will say that the music accurately is represented by the album cover.

So far this is my favorite Bob Dylan record I've listened to. I thought it was setup in an interesting way with the split between electric and acoustic songs. His lyrics and storytelling speak for themselves. He is a master of the craft. Favorite song was Homesick Blues

This album has the heart of the 60s and transports elements of early rock and psych into the unfitting year of 2002. I was suprised by this one. While no songs particularly stood out to me, the sound that they created on this record is a great time piece of the 60s with better production.

Some of the verses on this album are really good, but others are confusing or downright bad. The mix of styles works good at points, but a lot of songs felt out of place on this project. The skits were annoying at times too. Not my style, but I can appreciate early hip-hop.

Was not excited to listen to this in the slightest. I gave it a shot and it lived up to my expectations. All around a boring listen. Sure it is well produced and uses a lot of organ, but it's so whiny and boring in its compositions.

New to me, I really enjoyed this one. You can feel the emotion in every song. I thought the album was a little disjointed, but since this is a compilation of excess recordings that makes sense. For what it's worth, these songs are great on their own and I'm excited to hear more.

I wanted to like this more than I did. I thought the intro to the album would give way to a more profound emotional album that developed in a satisfying way. Instead we got 10 almost identical tracks with the same wishy washy slow vocal and 2 notes per minute played by the band. In the scope of other albums on this list so far I think this suprisingly holds up. Because of that I will consider it middle of the road to allign with my other reviews.

At first I thought this would be a terrible album, but it actually has redeeming musicianship. All the songs are very smooth. I likely would've given this album a 2 if it weren't for Smooth Operator and Sally. Sally is definitely the best song on the album with incredible saxophone playing. As a debut album, this is incredible. Props to her, I can see why people enjoy listening.

Probably one of the most boring albums I've ever listened to. I'm not into singer songwriter, but usually I can tolerate it. This one has great lyrics but musically, this album was halfassed and thrown out the window.

One of the best selling albums of all time for good reason. The ability for this band to bounce back after such a terrible fate of losing a personable a front man is incredible. These songs and riffs were extremely prevalent during my childhood and this album is still nostalgic to all those times playing guitar with my father.

I really wanted to like this more than I did. Nonetheless still a great album. The opening track features an amazing emotional solo. The other tracks decrease in effectiveness as the album progresses. I thought the last track was ridiculous with all of the random noises, but then I guess it makes sense in the context of Maggot Brain (like brain rot I suppose).

More UK Punk/New wave... I personally cannot distinguish a vast majority of these and there are so many on the list. I was pretty underwhelmed. Musically was fun, but for the most part nothing too impressive.

I don't even need to listen to this one to give it a high rating. One of the most influential albums of the 90s that conveys such pure and raw emotion. The songwriting and riffs are incredible all around.

I liked the instrumentals on this record even though most were simple. As far as singer songwriter goes, I found this to be relatively interesting. Unfortunately none of the songs were very memorable.

Interesting album, not my style. I frankly hate these punky UK new wave vocals that are running rampant on this list. I thought the compositions were relatively interesting. This album overall had a eerie undertone which I thought was cool, and for that I will rate it middle of the road.

Cult classic album with good songs. I can't say it's my style but it's hard to say that this album isn't deserving to be on this list.

After unknowingly listening to the first 5 discs while tinkering away at work I thought I surely had ventured out of the album and into the spotify suggested playlist. To my suprise, the album was still playing! I am proud to say I listened to the whole thing without giving up, but I can't say I really enjoyed it. My tolerance for this type of music runs out after about an hour then everything blends together and I lose interest. Despite the 3 hour run time, Ella's voice is phenomenal and the songs are well composed for the time. I likely would only listen to this again as background music (for a fancy home cooked meal perhaps)

Another classic album, one of the best by the Stones in my opinion. It definitely deserves to be on this list.

Honestly I thought this album was incredibly boring and repetitive. It's like rock for people who either think they like rock or are just getting into it. The vocals were abysmal.

Good songwriting and lyrics. Not quite as good as some of the Simon and Garfunkel but a pretty good self titled record. Unfortunately I wouldn't go out of my way to listen to this again, but it gets a 4 for my appreciation.

Overrated band in my opinion. The music wasn't that interesting, but I guess for the end of the 60s they had a good mix of sounds that fit the time. I can see how this could be innovative for the time, but I find it pretty underwhelming when comparing it to other bands of the time such as Pink Floyd.

UGHHHHHHH I am so damn sick of these 80s Brit pop groups. This one was a little more tolerable since the horn section was in action most of the time. Other than that the vocal style makes my ears bleed.

Incredible album and arguably one of the best Van Halen records. There are at least 3 radio hits on this album alone, and it is a great showcase of EVH's talent.

An interesting album to be featured on this list. This album offers almost nothing, but is a very peaceful listen. I don't think anyone would actually listen to this without doing some other activity concurrently. Since it has the element of deliberately naming it self background music, I think the album does an incredible job at that.

One of THE classic rock albums that I've never got around to listening to in full. I actually enjoyed this more than I thought. The fact that this is their debut album is also incredible. The sound is familiar but also very original.

Stripped down indie pop, not much to love here. I do like how extremely loud the bass is on this album. Other than that I can't say any of the tracks are memorable.

I have listened to a few bangers off of this album, but never the whole thing. I gotta say that I was a little underwhelmed by the majority of songs on this record. Most were rather boring and felt like fillers. Clint Eastwood and 5/4 just barely carry this album to a 3 for me. However, It is definitely a great record for their first major album.

I was excited to listen to this when I saw the name of the album. The jazz was smooth and straightforward. Unfortunately I didn't really enjoy or dislike this one. Another album I would probably listen to as background music. The compositions were pretty good in my opinion and seem politically driven which was interesting.

There's a difference between having goofy music and being annoying, this album is the latter. It has some redeeming qualities from the music. I mean I guess the music does match the style of the album cover. Being from the late 60s is very fitting though.

I want to be more into this, but I can't get behind it. It's no doubt a good album that has stood the test of time and produced many radio hits, but it isn't for me. I thought it was musically lame, besides the sax.

I was looking forward to this but I left disappointed. Nothing really was that interesting on this album. I much prefer their later work than the jangly, middle of the road tunes on this record. Good effort for their debut record.

We finally got a reggae album! This was new to me and I enjoyed it. I thought the instrumentals were good and the atmosphere was interesting at times. The vocals aren't my favorite but that's really my only major criticism. The album is politically charged but is contrasted by the tame instrumentals.

I liked this more than I thought I would. Out of the Wu tang solo releases (even though all of the members are featured it seems) I thought this was the most put together. It had a concept album feel which I liked and the atmosphere was dark and interesting feeling. The verses all flowed smoothly, but the instrumentals were out of time and out of tune. I think that helps with adding to the spooky feel though.

One of the best albums on this list so far. I have always been meaning to listen to older blues, but never got around to it. This album is everything I expected and more. I will be going back to this one.

Absolute masterpiece, arguably Black Sabbath's best album released in 1970 after their killer debut album from the same year. There is not a single bad track. I recently read Geezer Butler's autobiography and found out that the track Paranoid was recorded in the studio on the spot to meet LP length requirements. It ended up being the most popular song they ever did.

While I'm not the biggest fan of Metallica, this is a fantastic live album that adds the interesting musical elements from the SFSO. I was suprised by how much I liked this album. While it is 2 hours, I wasn't bothered by it because the classic metallica songs had the addition of new interesting elements which was cool.

Such a great album from a band that pretty much was swallowed up by others at the time. These guys were like mystery men releasing many radio hits while all of the bigger artists were dominating the scene. Props to the underdog, these songs can still be heard on classic rock radio today. While I don't think the music is fantastic, there is objective proof that these songs stand the test of time and secure their spot on this list.

This felt like I was sitting through a 40 minute unskippable Grand Theft Auto menu cutscene. Some of the songs were upbeat and fun, but for the most part this was boring.

This is probably one of the cheesiest hip hop records I've ever listened to. I thought the introduction of a lot of science vocabulary was interesting because It's almost never used in rap. Other than that the songs are extremely immature, annoying, offensive, or boring. Nothing remarkable happened. I was actually laughing at points because of the cheesy ass lyrics.

This is a Bowie album I can get behind. I enjoyed the journey through the album and the exploration of other sounds likely due to the Eno collab. I thought the two worked well together and produced something new and interesting instead of recycling the same Bowie formula.

The first half was pretty good but it declined over the course of the album. Pales in comparison to Hotel California. Nonetheless, radio hits are present on this album. Undoubtedly a valliant debut project for the band.

Unfortunately not as good as I remember, but a very nostalgic album for me. My mother used to play it all the time and my parrot Dale would headbang to it. 4 for nostalgia, 3 for the music.

I liked the music and beats. The lyrics didn't age well for a lot of these songs. Other than that the length of the album is too long. It felt like a drag at times with not a lot of variation.

I enjoyed this far more than Kid-A. I'm happy that they released all of their B side tracks instead of scrapping them. This is such an ambient album that stays interesting and emotional. I had to listen to it 3 times before having an opinion on it though.

New to me! I wasn't expecting much going into this as I've never heard of these guys. Although not the best music I've ever listened to, I found this to be enjoyable compared to many other albums on this cursed list. I liked the elements of grunge and psych that are mixed in.

I gotta say, I was expecting more shitty brit rock but I was suprised by how different this one was. Although the fusion on this record is pretty surface level, I thought it was interesting and added an extra twist to what probably would've been a pretty boring record.

Probably the best Kinks record I've listened to so far. I thought the songs were fun in a weird way while also being pretty straightforward rock. Other than that, I don't think anything revolutionary was done.

Sounds like early era The Who with slightly more blues influence. I thought it was a good self titled record, but it didn't really do anything that I found deserving of being on this.

I actually thought this record was interesting in that the soundscape was very polar. At one point it would be soft, but then hit with abrasive synths which somehow managed to fit the tracks. Overall pretty good if I was looking for a slow psych listen. Never heard of these guys before.

This just doesn't do it for me. Too much of the same thing for over an hour (Wee wee, womp womp, ding ding). I can see this being a hit in an Irish pub, but listenimg to an entire album was extremely challenging for me.

Never heard of these guys before. At first I thought they were trying to be the beatles but then the instrumentation developed a ton over the course of the listen with psych elements. This album gave the typical 60s sound a nice twist and strayed away from the usual formula.

Finally got around to listening to this record. It's known as one of the quintessential albums of the genre and likely the beginning of the new wave sound. I thought it was interesting and I can appreciate the production, but for the most part I wasn't too into the music. I can see how this was such a revolutionary record though.

This album was... interesting. Musically it was very good and up my alley. On the other hand, the vocals did not do this album any justice. I found them extremely annoying and cheesy. They were way too over the top for the music.

First Janis Joplin record I've listened to in full. I thought the album was pretty fun, but I can only take so much of her voice before needing to listen to something else. Nothing against her, but this is not my style.

This album definitely has a very specific time and place. Is that time and place in a traffic jam on a few hours of sleep? I can't say it is. It was a very relaxing listen that remained peacefully ambient throughout the entire listen.

Weird album in a good way when mainstream music was more accessible for interesting genres. Not fantastic in my opinion but a fun listen.

This album was soo good in my opinion. I thought some of the songs were very beautiful and well written. I enjoyed the his nasally yet powerful voice. It really added an extra layer to the music.

This was probably the most modern 60s album I've ever listened to. Although the songs are pretty long, the music all feels like a bunch of different songs which I can appreciate. I can't see myself going back to this one much though.

Undeniably an influential album for gangster rap but I wasn't too pleased by it. Although 80s and 90s rap is more up my alley than the modern garbage that's out today, this one wasn't exactly notable in terms of lyrical composition and rhythm. There were some points of the album where I was into the backing instrumentals.

First song is an iconic horror movie song that seems to have influenced the horror soundtrack genre in more ways that one. Despite this, the album flops after the first 5 minutes turning into weird groaning unintelligible lyrics that don't fit into the mix at all or various repetitive sounds.

Another crazy live album from one of the greats. At times, the music is so good it feels like a studio recording. Everything about it is awesome.

I thought this album was so incredibly annoying (the vocals, the repetitive synth paterns, and the percussion). Although a moderate album length, this dragged on for what felt like 3 hours. Cars is a classic song, but even that doesn't do it for me. This list has felt more like the 1001 new wave and UK punk albums list of all time instead of the 1001 albums you NEED to listen to.

I was expecting a mid album, but this one suprised me. I felt that the songs were all full of emotion (Eddie Vedder style vocals) and all fit onto this project. Although the length was a little long, Beck really changed up the formula and did it well.

This might be one of the most chill albums of all time. Everything about it was interesting from singing in unison with the harmonica to the smooth background chants that underlied the melody. It's no suprise that Bob Marley is such an idolized figure in the music world.

Objectively a great 80s pop record. Sadly I can only take so much of her voice. The hits have been played to death on the radio even still today, but that speaks to this album's influence in today's music.

Super generic rock album, it's hard to believe Rick Rubin was involved with this. It annoyed me how much Ian said "Yeah" throughout this record. I also thought the cover of Born to be Wild was notably worse than the original.

I wasn't very into the first two tracks of the album then I enveloped in the masterpiece that is 'Four Cornered Room.' The album progressively picks up with slow, soulful, psych rock that reminds me of the modern band Glass Beams if they had vocals.

Not my preferred music of choice, but I thought the backstory of this album was really interesting. The music was pretty bland 60s psych, but the fact that he was super strung out, mentally unstable, able to play all the instruments, and self produce the album is pretty wild. The production is not great and borderline annoying with the percussion being the only thing on the right side track. I kinda felt sick listening to this, but extra points because the art matches his mental state.

This album was pretty cheesy but I gotta say that they blended genres pretty well which I was not expecting. All of the songs sound a little different and non-cohesive which makes this feel like a playlist instead of an album. Despite this, the contents were pretty dull and not memorable.
