Popular Reviews

Great beats, great flow. Charisma makes 50 come off like a superstar. Eminem makes some really cool appearances but doesn't take over the whole track. It's definitely 50's album. Really enjoyed this.

A Hard Day's Night by Beatles

Just cool, easy listening. Cool to see how much these guys grow and evolve in such a short time.

Tidal by Fiona Apple

Jazzy. Creative. A little angsty. I enjoyed it. Maybe a little slow for a front to back listen. Criminal is a great song and the only one I knew prior to this. Glad I got the chance to listen to one of her albums.

Ten by Pearl Jam

Such a good album. It still feels like a force hitting you in the face in 2025. For a debut album, this is top notch. Eddie vedder is insane with his vocals. The instrumentals are so tight and crisp. One of the best albums of the 90's and all time. I wish I was alive when this album dropped. Speaking of that "alive" is such a damn good song. Amazing songs front to back. Big Pearl Jam fan.

Mellon Collie and the Infinite Sadness by The Smashing Pumpkins

What a great album. Amazing with fall weather. I could only imagine how it felt to have this much creativity explode from the songwriting process all at once. So many great songs. The only knock I have on this is the length. Two hours long is wild. I'm not even sure if I can say there are specific songs that don't belong on this, but it's just difficult to listen to two hours of the same band in this capacity. Siamese Dream has always been my preferred album by them for this reason.

Surfer Rosa by Pixies
May 26 2025

I'm pretty familiar with the Pixies, mostly the Doolittle album. This one seemed even weirder, but I can absolutely hear a lot of elements that eventually became Kurt Cobain's take on the Pixies via Nevermind. Where is my mind is the main hit, and it might be the only song off this album I'll continue to have on my playlist. It's easy to forget that this was 1988, and people weren't putting out music like this yet. Pioneers of the alternative genre and one of a handful of bands in that weird little era that bridged the gap from Guns n Roses hair metal to Nirvana grunge. So they've always got my respect. I'll stick to the main hits though, still.

Iron Maiden by Iron Maiden
May 27 2025

Pretty sweet. Never got too into Iron Maiden so I'm glad this album showed up. Amazing bass player, sometimes doing a little too much in my opinion (specifically on Transylvania). "Iron Maiden", "Running Free", and "Phantom of the Opera" were standouts for me. Definitely hear a lot of Avenged Sevenfold. I can only imagine what people thought when this album dropped, it had to be mind blowing. FYI I have always thought Eddie was cool as fuck. If you know, you know.

Black Sabbath by Black Sabbath
May 28 2025

Many point to this as the very first heavy metal album so this is a pretty pivotal moment in music history. I went through a decent Black Sabbath phase a few years ago, and I think they have a lot better stuff - specifically the Paranoid and Master of Reality albums. But I do get why this album is so important and essential. I really enjoy N.I.B. but the album also feels like a lot of filler and drawn out jamming. Crazy to think of what Ozzie Osbourne would amount to after this. Hoping those two albums pop up in the future.

The Cars by The Cars
May 29 2025

I dont know what got me into The Cars as a kid, but I've always been a fan. Catchy melodies but oddly unique compared to everything else on KSHE 95. I hear so much Weezer in this. Pretty sure The Cars were a big inspiration to Rivers Cuomo so that makes sense to me. Just looked it up, and Ric Ocasek (singer) was a notable record producer for famous bands like Weezer, No Doubt, and many more so it's cool that he's got his fingerprints on so many notable pieces of music history. Big fan.

Endtroducing..... by DJ Shadow
May 30 2025

I can't think of anyone I would ever recommend this to. I feel like whatever this is had already been done way better prior to 1996 and way better after 1996. Wikipedia says a lot of the techniques used were groundbreaking and still used today, but sampling was used prior to this so I don't get it. Doesn't feel like it was very groundbreaking. Ambient filler music that you probably need to be stoned for. Fun fact - was not stoned for this. Did not enjoy.

Abbey Road by Beatles
Jun 02 2025

What can I say except that they're the f'n Beatles, man? First time listening all the way through this album, and I loved it. Great Friday morning album. Loved the run from Sun King through Golden Slumbers where I couldn't tell where each song ended or started. I Want You sees The Beatles at their heaviest, and it's beautiful. They revolutionized songwriting and the sounds of music in such a short span of time, and this entire album exemplifies that. If you aren't listening to "Here comes the sun" and "Come Together" on the radio, I'd recommend listening to the entire album front to back any time. Highly recommend.

Parklife by Blur
Jun 03 2025

It wasn't bad. Sweet album cover. I've always had an odd thought process with Blur. I think Damon (singer/main writer) is a pompous asshat, but he's also a creative genius. Song 2 is my favorite track by them, but the whole song was meant as a joke to stereotypical rock radio hits. It's also not on this album. London Loves, Tracy Jacks, Jubilee, and This is a Low were the standouts for me. I appreciated the variety of instruments throughout the album. The album felt experimental, large, and daring. It still blows my mind that these guys were just as big as Oasis in the 90's in the UK. This isn't a band that strikes me as someone capable of doing that. But still, it eventually led to the Gorillaz, so I'll give it that.

Post Orgasmic Chill by Skunk Anansie
Jun 04 2025

Why have I never heard of these guys before? Within 30 seconds, I went from "ah man, not gonna like this" to "holy shit, this chick can sing". I loved hearing this album for the first time. Passionate, emotional, politically driven, and angry. I'm guessing this had a major influence on evanescence, flyleaf, etc. "On my hotel TV" reminds me of Rage against the machine and is probably my favorite track, but I enjoyed all of them. I also maybe hear some influence by In Living Color. Also, maybe Tracy Chapman? "We don't need who you think you are" and "Tracy's Flaw" were right up there as favorites, too. The album has multiple radio friendly hits - I'm so baffled how these guys aren't/weren't massive. Great listen from front to back. I'll definitely check out their other stuff now.

Moondance by Van Morrison
Jun 05 2025

Van Morrison rocks. This album caught me at the perfect time. Had me in a great mood on my commute and morning coffee. Makes me want to cook breakfast on a Sunday morning and dance with someone in the kitchen. Highly recommend.

Sunshine Hit Me by The Bees
Jun 06 2025

I've got mixed feelings on this. I enjoyed some of it, very chill. It was not the right album to wake up to and hit the gym with, so I listened to maybe the last 75% after while I had my coffee. I enjoyed it way more at that point. "Lying in the snow" was like the Beatles meeting Beach House. I really liked it. Overall, not exactly my style, but I can appreciate it. The back half was better than the front. Not bad for the summer. Probably not bad with hallucinogenics, either.

Horses by Patti Smith
Jun 09 2025

One of the original punk rockers. When reading the book "Please Kill Me", I got to learn a lot about Patti Smith. Seems like a total junkie, and I don't really get the hype. The first song or two were decent, and then it drops off into that weird 60's velvet underground sound for me. It's just not for me, but it did help move punk rock into a golden age not much longer after this so I can appreciate it in that regard.

Rock 'N Soul by Solomon Burke
Jun 10 2025

It's a solid R&B album. It made me way too sad though haha that's the blues, baby. Not something I'm going to seek out again. "Cry to me" was super familiar, but I can't tell if I've heard the song before or the melody was ripped off by someone else.

The Suburbs by Arcade Fire
Jun 11 2025

I've never given Arcade Fire a fair shake and have always wondered what the hype was. This album definitely made me a fan. This type of music has definitely infiltrated my daily vibes in the last 9 months so I'm glad I'm hearing this now instead of 2010 when this came out. 13 year old Jake would have hated this. 27 year old Jake can really appreciate this. It still feels very modern and ages well. It reminds me of The Killers, Young The Giant, MGMT, and The Revivalists. I really enjoyed it and will probably listen to this album multiple times in the future along with their other albums.

Roots by Sepultura
Jun 12 2025

Super interesting album. I was really into the front side, but an hour long really wore on me. I bet this was insane to hear when this dropped in 1996. The instrumentals are amazing, the vocals are perfect at times. I'm glad I listened to this, but I'm not sure how often I'll go back to this. If I do, it'll be a track or two from the front half.

The Beach Boys Today! by The Beach Boys
Jun 13 2025

Unpopular opinion - Every Beach Boys song sounds just like the one before it. I don't know what I'm missing. It's not the worst song I've ever heard, but it's not really special either. I saw a quote yesterday saying "It's not that the Beatles were better than The Beach Boys, Brian Wilson was just outnumbered" and I just don't get it. It's good clean family-friendly fun, but it's surface-level cheese, too. Stuff that preppy white boys played to try and kiss a girl after 9 pm on a Saturday night. Lame. I'll take The Beach Boys in a small doses, but even this 27 minute album was too much. I thought that about their Pet Sounds album as well in the past. Give me one Beach Boys song at a pool, and I'll give it 5 stars. Give me a full album, and you get this 2 star review.

Pet Sounds by The Beach Boys
Jun 16 2025

These guys just won't go away. I'll admit that I enjoyed this album more than the last one. "Wouldn't it be nice" is definitely my favorite Beach Boys song so it was great to kick things off with. Pet Sounds was able to make it further into the album before getting tiresome of the same exact sound/song. It feels more mature than prior albums. Overall not too shabby, and I can see how the mixing approaches and experimenting led to some new developments for the Beatles.

The Score by Fugees
Jun 17 2025

One of my favorite rap records. Sounds great on vinyl. All three people elevate this album, but Lauryn Hill is the breakout star waiting to happen. I love the production on this. It's got the gritty NY 90's rap feel while still being mastered well. They have some features from other artists, but they are more than able to carry the album on their own which I appreciate. Have listened to this album many times before and will listen many times in the future.

Stardust by Willie Nelson
Jun 18 2025

Cup of coffee, windows down, long day on my way home - I didn't want this album to end. Very slow, but it hit me at the right time. Calming and soothing, Willie nailed these covers. Big fan.

Crocodiles by Echo And The Bunnymen
Jun 19 2025

Another album I wouldn't have appreciated a few years ago. Very much in line with The Cure, it's chill but alternative. Glad I listened to this.

Dire Straits by Dire Straits
Jun 23 2025

Better than I expected. Guitar playing is second to none, but the vocals aren't it for me. Wild West End was a great surprise to me.

Electric Warrior by T. Rex
Jun 24 2025

An inspiration to so many glam rock bands of the 80's. They've got some sleaziness to them but not too over the top like many would attempt to do. It was pretty chill for this genre. Nothing stands out to me. Get it On is a great song, but I find the band to be very repetitive.

Dummy by Portishead
Jun 26 2025

Glory box rocks, I've had that song on a playlist for a bit now. The rest is cool but it seems like something meant for small doses. It sounds like one long droning song. There's definitely a good amount of creativity and talent, but it just never came together for me.

The Stooges by The Stooges
Jun 27 2025

Decent songs that they rode for the next 40 years. "I will fall" is such a ridiculous song and in the weirdest spot on the album that I almost respect it even if I don't like it. They helped start a revolution and a million bands trying to sound just like them. Gotta respect that part.

Vol. 4 by Black Sabbath
Jun 30 2025

Better than the debut album we listened to. They clearly evolved a lot, but because I already know some of the other albums, I still don't think it's them at their best. Still, I've always loved "Changes". Lot of good stuff in here.

Beauty And The Beat by The Go-Go's
Jul 01 2025

Very poppy, fun, upbeat, summer vibes. It lacks depth in my opinion. Not that it's meant to have much. It's meant to be fun. "Lust to love" was the surprising one to me. I enjoyed it along with the singles, lips are sealed and we got the beat, which are also solid. The rest were forgettable.

good kid, m.A.A.d city by Kendrick Lamar
Jul 02 2025

Such a great album. I think I understood the story as a kid who grew up in Compton getting sucked into all of the crime before making it out and getting his life together? That was my interpretation. Either way, this is Kendrick at his peak. So many good songs. One of the best albums of the 21st century.

Picture Book by Simply Red
Jul 03 2025

I really enjoyed a lot of this. Specifically, the first half. It wore on me slowly throughout, but it's a very creative sound that I can appreciate. Fun and dancy. Very Phil Collins. I'd never heard of these guys before so I'm glad I listened.

Ten by Pearl Jam
Jul 04 2025

Such a good album. It still feels like a force hitting you in the face in 2025. For a debut album, this is top notch. Eddie vedder is insane with his vocals. The instrumentals are so tight and crisp. One of the best albums of the 90's and all time. I wish I was alive when this album dropped. Speaking of that "alive" is such a damn good song. Amazing songs front to back. Big Pearl Jam fan.

Doggystyle by Snoop Dogg
Jul 07 2025

The west coast G-Funk sound that Dr Dre makes is maybe my favorite hip hop sound. Such a cool vibe. Snoop crushes it. It's easy to forget that he was so talented, cause 2010 and onward snoop isn't nearly as talented on the mic. But he's one of the best on this album. If you enjoy rap, this is an essential album.

Here's Little Richard by Little Richard
Jul 08 2025

What a good vibe. High energy and fun. Loved every song. Not sure what else I can say about this one. He's one of the best to ever do it.

Tragic Songs of Life by The Louvin Brothers
Jul 09 2025

I feel like I've heard this entire album throughout breaking bad/better call Saul. Not sure if it's accurate but that's the vibe I get. Not my vibe at all. I could see people liking it but not me.

Permission to Land by The Darkness
Jul 10 2025

Was excited to listen to this one. I enjoyed maybe 75% of the album. "I believe in a thing called love" will always be a masterpiece. Some other songs just didn't grab me but not too shabby overall.

Porcupine by Echo And The Bunnymen
Jul 11 2025

I remember liking their other album, crocodiles, way more. Very much still sounding like the cure which is a cool unique vibe. This one just seems a little, odd.

Queen II by Queen
Jul 14 2025

Outside of the hits, I've never been super into Queen. Not totally sure why. Their songs and specifically this album sound complex and layered, but it's in a direction that I've never been too interested in. The mythical creatures and stories just don't appeal to me. Ogre battle was a decent rocker, but the rest is just not for me. This made me less of a fan. Someone tell me what I'm missing.

Back To Black by Amy Winehouse
Jul 15 2025

I've heard this album so many times before on vinyl. It's solid front to back and shows the talent that Amy had. Five Grammys in one night for this! Opened the doors for people like Adele and Lana Del Ray. It's a shame that she's not around making music. Phenomenal album.

Blur by Blur
Jul 16 2025

I enjoyed it more than Parklife. Solid album, sounds a lot more like Oasis which I doubt they wanted to accomplish. I could start to hear some more experimental stuff come in that would lead to the Gorillaz. Overall not too shabby

The Wildest! by Louis Prima
Jul 17 2025

Love this guy. I bet he knew how to party and bring the best vibes. Although it's not on this album, Pennies from heaven is an all timer song. Just a gigolo is timeless as well.

Hot Buttered Soul by Isaac Hayes
Jul 18 2025

I loved this so much more than I expected. Knew that Chef could sing but does he play everything else too? Big fan, might just throw this into rotation at very random times.

In A Silent Way by Miles Davis
Jul 21 2025

I enjoy jazz, this was solid. The guy is clearly a world class musician. Just not sure how much this is my vibe. I can respect and appreciate it.

Ellington at Newport by Duke Ellington
Jul 22 2025

I bet this would be really cool to see live, but it was a chore to get through via streaming. The talent is undeniable, but this just isn't my thing when working, driving, etc.

Jul 23 2025

It was fine. If anything, I liked it more than I thought it would. I've never been a prog rock guy. These guys are super talented, but this isn't something I'm going to listen to again.

Paranoid by Black Sabbath
Jul 24 2025

Loved it. As I've said when the other albums have popped up on here, I think Paranoid and Master of Reality are their best pieces of work. They really bring it here on every track.

Mama's Gun by Erykah Badu
Jul 25 2025

I enjoyed it. Not something I'm going to listen to every day, but I can see why people would love it. Great vibes, a lot of talent. I could see some basic elements that Motown records were doing with some of their other records at this time also (Nelly)

Out Of The Blue by Electric Light Orchestra
Jul 28 2025

Is this what Queen wishes they sounded like? I loved this. Really cool transitions between songs, larger than life feel, and great vibes. I've heard all of their radio singles but never a full album. I really enjoy ELO now.

Bookends by Simon & Garfunkel
Jul 29 2025

I thought it was going to like Simon and Garfunkel more. It was fine. A slower, less raspy Jim Croce maybe? It just dragged on until the last few songs. "Voices of Old People" really made it onto this album? Come on, man

Movies by Holger Czukay
Jul 30 2025

I did not need to hear this before I died. This whole album was unintentionally hilarious. This is if Austin Power's Goldmember made an album. This is your best work, Poland????

Mott by Mott The Hoople
Jul 31 2025

I enjoyed this more than expected. Thought it was cool that Bowie produced the album prior to this. The track, "Violence" was such an annoying dud. We get it - violins and violence sound familiar. The rest of the tracks were fun. Kind seemed like guys being dudes. "Hymn for the dudes" is a sweet title. Overall kinda glad I listened to this one.

Shaka Zulu by Ladysmith Black Mambazo
Aug 01 2025

They're clearly very talented. It's just not for me. I learned that today, and thats a positive takeaway for my personal knowledge.

Exodus by Bob Marley & The Wailers
Aug 04 2025

Great vibes, hit after hit after hit. Not new info, but it's clear to me how much influence they had on sublime, and also so so many other bands.

The Atomic Mr Basie by Count Basie & His Orchestra
Aug 05 2025

Like Louis Prima without vocals. Great energy, great jazz.

Aug 06 2025

It's vulgar and at times very intense (Kim), but it's creative and artistic. Eminem clearly has a lot of demons at this point in time, and so many of these lyrics don't hold up in 2025. It's also easy to forget Lynne Cheney trying to get him banned from all outlets so this is him embracing this villain role she tried to enhance. A lot of mixed thoughts on this album. Stan and The Real Slim Shady are obvious standouts. Drug Ballad and I'm Back surprised me. It's an extremely unique album, and that alone is worth a high rating.

Urban Hymns by The Verve
Aug 07 2025

Loved this a lot. Seems like a perfect representation of the late 90's when grunge had died, and it mellowed out. Very similar to Oasis, but I liked this so much more than Blur. Great vibes. The only song that I knew prior to this was Bittersweet Symphony. Will listen to this album again sometime.

Raising Hell by Run-D.M.C.
Aug 08 2025

It's rap, but they're trying to be role models? I found myself wanting to critique this too much before pulling back and remembering this is 80's rap. They really did boost rap to the mainstream. But it's still elementary beats and rhymes. Overall it's a crucial piece of rap history. It's fun with plenty of good vibes.

Kid A by Radiohead
Aug 11 2025

It was fine - creative. Is it one of the best albums of all time like many say? I wouldn't agree with that

1984 by Van Halen
Aug 12 2025

It's a great album - I just don't think it's their best. They have some albums that are flawless from front to back, and this has 2-3 that are skippable for me. They clearly grew even more into an arena band with hits like Jump and I'll Wait. Still, give me Van Halen 1 or even 5150 with Sammy.

Kings Of The Wild Frontier by Adam & The Ants
Aug 13 2025

In the first half, I appreciated that pop music used to be wild like this rather than so cookie cutter. But this just kept going further and further off the rails. I couldn't wait for this one to be done with 3 more songs left to listen to.

Court And Spark by Joni Mitchell
Aug 14 2025

Super chill listen, in line with Jim Croce and other songwriters of that era. Really enjoyed it

Sticky Fingers by The Rolling Stones
Aug 18 2025

Don't know if if I've heard a Stones album front to back before. I appreciate how much they jam on a few of these songs. It really shows how talented they were back in the day.

Aug 19 2025

Enjoyed this way more than expected. I've always enjoyed "Praise You" for some reason. The rest of this was decently good house music compared to a lot of other house I hear. I can't really pinpoint why.

Station To Station by David Bowie
Aug 20 2025

I'm still learning what made Bowie, Bowie. But this was a great start. Nothing really stood out to me as "that man is one of the greatest ever" but I did enjoy all of the album. Excited to see if more Bowie albums show up on this list.

Third/Sister Lovers by Big Star
Aug 21 2025

Started out great, felt dragged on. Very middle of the road classic rock

You're Living All Over Me by Dinosaur Jr.
Aug 22 2025

This is what I'd call grunge for sure. Not stone temple pilots or Pearl Jam. It has its place, and I think I would have liked it more when I was younger. For some reason, I've never been able to connect with Dinosaur Jr. I can see the correlation to Nirvana. It just didn't click though.

Tidal by Fiona Apple
Aug 25 2025

Jazzy. Creative. A little angsty. I enjoyed it. Maybe a little slow for a front to back listen. Criminal is a great song and the only one I knew prior to this. Glad I got the chance to listen to one of her albums.

Aug 26 2025

What an album. The transitions from song to song. It's one big piece of art and redefines what a full album of music should be. It doesn't chop everything up into singles. The creativity is everywhere. When it all comes to a peak during Brain Damage/Eclipse, it's such an incredible journey that they took you on. Honestly, I still think Wish You were Here is the better piece of work by Floyd, but this is an album I've listened to hundreds of times and will do so hundreds more.

Joan Baez by Joan Baez
Aug 27 2025

This one hurt my ears. The shakiness in her voice is viewed as talented by many, but it's not for me

...The Dandy Warhols Come Down by The Dandy Warhols
Aug 28 2025

This was interesting. I feel like I heard several songs from other artists within the album. "Horse with No Name" and some Pink Floyd and The Cure seemed really prevalent which I thought was really odd. Overall, not too bad.

Dookie by Green Day
Aug 29 2025

My first ever CD that I owned. I'll never forgot the moment my mom bought this for me. Such a phenomenal album and introduction to punk rock and punk pop. It still holds up great. I still think the American Idiot album is more complete and better, but this is great proof of why Green Day rocks.

British Steel by Judas Priest
Sep 01 2025

Solid album. Livin after midnight is timeless. I thought "red white and blue" was really weird and out of place for a band from England.

Tom Petty & The Heartbreakers by Tom Petty and the Heartbreakers
Sep 02 2025

America's greatest songwriter. I feel like he was just starting to hit his stride here. Breakdown and American Girl are timeless. There were a couple strange ones in here that prevented this from being a regular front to back listen. But damn I love me some tom petty

Rattlesnakes by Lloyd Cole And The Commotions
Sep 03 2025

I enjoyed it. It reminded me of The Cure in a more poppy way. It didn't drag on too long to overstay its welcome. There's something about that 80's emo vibe I've always enjoyed.

The White Album by Beatles
Sep 04 2025

It's got some all-time songs, but it's also got a lot of duds. On both sides, there was one song each that really took me out of it. "Wild Honey Pie" and "Honey Pie". Coincidence? I'm not sure. Either way, it felt like they were just trying to throw everything at the wall here to see what stuck. Some of it is still sticking. "While my guitar gently weeps" is such a phenomenal rock song, and it really displays the growth and change that they went through in such a short amount of time. And hot take - ob-la-di, ob-la-da is a good song. There was just too much filler in between all of the hits. They have much better albums in my opinion (sgt peppers is maybe the greatest album of all time)

Vento De Maio by Elis Regina
Sep 05 2025

This rocked - definitely the best album where I didn't understand the words being spoken. Bass playing was 10/10. It was such a funky groove throughout. Great vibes. If you're good with language barriers - this album is your JAM

2112 by Rush
Sep 08 2025

Big fan

Fear Of Music by Talking Heads
Sep 09 2025

Creative, unique, alternative. They paved a cool path for music. I feel like I hear so many artists that took inspiration from this through both alternative and pop. Very cool.

Fly Or Die by N.E.R.D
Sep 10 2025

Very 2004, I don't think this aged well. It's attempting to be fun, but it ended up boring and shallow instead

Orbital 2 by Orbital
Sep 11 2025

I actually didn't mind a few of these songs. But damn the intro and outro were so obnoxious. Definitely early stages of house music. Not something I'll ever go back to

21 by Adele
Sep 12 2025

Is this the best songwriter of the 21st century? Debatable. But this album is phenomenal, and she doesn't really have a bad song on any of her albums. One of the greatest voices ever

The Queen Is Dead by The Smiths
Sep 15 2025

It was decent. I was reading reviews and this one caught my eye. I dont know who wrote it but this perfectly captures my thoughts and they deserve credit: "it's not really that bad, kinda catchy in a weird way. but it definitely is the soundtrack to suicide in some wussy way, like a sleeping pill overdose"

Crosby, Stills & Nash by Crosby, Stills & Nash
Sep 16 2025

Crosby, Stills, and Nash are highly regarded in music, but I've never had anything that made me do a deep dive. Now that I've listened to this album, I can officially say I'm a fan. Great vibes, very soothing. Similar to the Eagles in some fashion, great harmonies. I'll probably throw this album into a playlist for normal rotation.

Sep 17 2025

I didn't need to listen to this. Top 3 worst albums on this list so far? Don't tell me this was experimental, this is just throwing shit at the wall and seeing if it stops stinking. Still stinks.

Elephant by The White Stripes
Sep 18 2025

I like Jack White. I think his different projects all have something worth listening too, and I feel like he's a rockstar. However, this album just doesn't do it for me. Very garage band esque rooted in blues, but overall repetitive with some guitar solos that I feel like I could play (not a compliment). For this being known as one of the best albums of the 00's, I don't think it lives up to that hype. A lot of 12 bar blues with guitar licks in between. For a 2 man group, this is pretty great. They capture great sound from that aspect. Meg's drum work is terrific. The lyrics just felt scatterbrained and random. I get that's the point, but the point isn't that great. I do love the long song titles though. That needs to make a comeback.

The second Bowie album on this list, and the second Bowie album that I've thoroughly enjoyed. He's unique and very true to himself. This album was so easy to listen to from front to back, and I'm slowly realizing why he is so highly regarded.

Bat Out Of Hell by Meat Loaf
Sep 22 2025

Meat Loaf is objectively a good song writer. Some of these songs don't need to be 8+ minutes long, but I think he has definitely crafted his place into music history. This was a really easy listen.

Talking Heads 77 by Talking Heads
Sep 23 2025

I think two of my biggest takeaways from this adventure so far are that I really enjoy David Bowie and Talking Heads now. This is the second Talking Heads album we've had, and it is yet again so unique. The bass lines are great. The identity is unapologetic which I love. It's quirky, but easy to listen to. Great vibes. I'll be excited to see another album by Talking Heads pop up again.

Heroes by David Bowie
Sep 24 2025

"Heroes" is objectively a good song. There's also some Pink Floyd-esque experimentation going on that I really enjoyed. However, the entire back half went off the deep end for me. I was doing some research about how this was filmed in Berlin near the wall. If he was trying to capture the gloominess of that time period, he does. This just doesn't exactly hold up in 2025. Was Ziggy Stardust his peak? I'm still excited to continue the Bowie journey to figure that out.

Shadowland by k.d. lang
Sep 25 2025

Sad cowboy music. I feel like it's very good when considering that type of music. Would have loved this when I was severely depressed. That's what I'm going to rate this off of, but I am way more excited to listen to something happier now that this is done, and I won't be coming back to this (hopefully).

Pyromania by Def Leppard
Sep 26 2025

Just some good fun rock music. Windows down, driving down the interstate, great vibes songs.

Sign 'O' The Times by Prince
Sep 29 2025

Not my favorite Prince album. Maybe it's too experimental, but I can't deny that it's still Prince being Prince. Always going left when everyone else goes right. There are some great tracks on the B-side of this album. Specifically, the last 4-5 songs.

Songs Of Leonard Cohen by Leonard Cohen
Sep 30 2025

This guy seems like a pompous asshole that likes the smell his own farts

Future Days by Can
Oct 01 2025

I guess this would have been good background music for studying back in college. But nothing I'll ever listen to again these days.

Music by Madonna
Oct 02 2025

It's hilarious to think this was the number 1 album in the country at one point. Simpler times. Madonna is polarizing, but she's past her prime here. I don't even know what's going on in this album. One of those "throw everything at the wall and see what sticks" type of albums. The skipping guitar track on Don't Tell Me physically hurt my stomach. Madonna has some great songs, but they aren't on this album.

The Rising by Bruce Springsteen
Oct 03 2025

2002 Springsteen is just 2025 Bon Jovi. Two New Jersey dudes gettin old and getting more tame. It's very calm listening, good for a morning commute to work and coffee. I can definitely see the post-9/11 vibes here about uniting and coming together. Overall, it's not a bad album. A few skippable tracks. It's tame, but that works for a lot of people.

Oct 06 2025

A turning point in history for rap music and the beginning of some of the most influential artists in the genre.

The Clash by The Clash
Oct 07 2025

Early Clash seems like everything the Sex Pistols wished they could have been. Disruptive, political, in your face, but actually talented. This was a great punk rock record and a foreshadowing of things to come for The Clash. Punk rock and its roots are an amazing thing. The world needs more political punk rock.

En-Tact by The Shamen
Oct 08 2025

I don't think this is the worst electronic album I've heard on this journey, but it wasn't very good either.

Oct 09 2025

This album surprised me. Is this east coast? I haven't had time to research like I've wanted. Whatever this is, I like it. Very R&B rooted with great flow and lyrics on top. A lot of fun.

Oct 10 2025

Was this Buck Owens or Dewey Cox? It was hard to tell at times. A fun upbeat album quickly got very slow and droning in the back half.

Lost In The Dream by The War On Drugs
Oct 13 2025

This album was a pleasant surprise for me. Started great and continues as a a solid 2010's alternative album. Kinda drags on a little too long, crossing the hour mark. Overall solid.

Back At The Chicken Shack by Jimmy Smith
Oct 14 2025

Every song was the same. Which isn't even a bad jazz song. The drummer had to be so bored until 25 minutes in when he gets a little bit of time to shine. I bet he goes to sleep in excitement for those few minutes when they have a show the next day. Also was hoping the band Jimmie's Chicken Shack was named after this album but they're instead named after an infamous jazz restaurant, not band. That's about all I've got here.

Dry by PJ Harvey
Oct 15 2025

90's alternative female singer- songwriters rock. It's a vibe that isn't replicated anymore. The PJ Harveys, Fiona Apples, Alanis Morissettes, etc all blazed a trail for women to rock in the 21st century. Big fan and big apreesh.

For Your Pleasure by Roxy Music
Oct 16 2025

At first, I thought this was really centered towards the demographic that enjoys rocky horror picture show and maybe musicals. That's not me. As the album went on, I could see the similarities to people like David Bowie and Talking Heads. Overall, this just wasn't superior. It's odd and bizarre. I wouldn't be surprised if Viagra Boys took some inspiration from this which is cool. I just don't think it was very good.

Oct 17 2025

The version of Pink Floyd has never quite hit the mark for me. I did enjoy this album more than I remember though. For 1967, this had to be mindblowing. It's super experimental, and I respect how they really went for it. For me, this is a band that improves with every album leading up to Dark Side, and this is just the beginning of that journey.

Purple Rain by Prince
Oct 20 2025

Prince at his best. So many great songs.

Mellon Collie and the Infinite Sadness by The Smashing Pumpkins
Oct 21 2025

What a great album. Amazing with fall weather. I could only imagine how it felt to have this much creativity explode from the songwriting process all at once. So many great songs. The only knock I have on this is the length. Two hours long is wild. I'm not even sure if I can say there are specific songs that don't belong on this, but it's just difficult to listen to two hours of the same band in this capacity. Siamese Dream has always been my preferred album by them for this reason.

Rejoicing In The Hands by Devendra Banhart
Oct 22 2025

I was pleasantly surprised by this. A great folk record.

Channel Orange by Frank Ocean
Oct 23 2025

Not sure if I understand the hype behind Frank Ocean. This album is very artistic and creative. He's clearly very talented. This just feels a little scatterbrained and all over the place. Offbeat in certain songs. I can't put my finger on it, but it just wasn't for me. I'm glad I finally got around to giving it an honest try.

Aftermath by The Rolling Stones
Oct 24 2025

A legendary band that was still finding its footing. They jam out some songs a little too long, but the talent is obviously there. Cool to see the early days.

If You Can Believe Your Eyes & Ears by The Mamas & The Papas
Oct 27 2025

I expected this to be way more religious based, I think? California dreaming is a great song. Great vibes through the entire album.

Blackstar by David Bowie
Oct 28 2025

I've really enjoyed the Bowie experience on this album journey. I don't get this one. I really don't think it would be as acclaimed if he didn't pass away two days later. The back half was much more tolerable, specifically 'Girl Loves Me'

Rid Of Me by PJ Harvey
Oct 29 2025

I definitely prefer her debut album more than this one. A lot of similar things going from song to song on this album. Baffled why they would have a sextet version of a song and a rock version on the same album. Also, Legs just intentionally having an out of tune guitar hurt my soul. It was raw, experimental, and unapologetic. Ultimately, it wasn't for me.

Africa Brasil by Jorge Ben Jor
Oct 30 2025

I enjoyed how upbeat it was. One song was 100% just a ripoff (cover?) of Rod Stewart's Do Ya Think I'm Sexy. Ultimately, the language barrier made it tough to listen in one go.

L.A. Woman by The Doors
Oct 31 2025

This is probably my favorite album by The Doors now. This is a great blues band. They went away from more of the psychedelic side, and it paid off. Jim Morrison really made this band separate themselves with his skills as a front man. I definitely am more of a fan after listening to this album.

Remain In Light by Talking Heads
Nov 03 2025

I officially love the talking heads thanks to this album journey.

Diamond Life by Sade
Nov 04 2025

This was awesome. Don't know what else I can say.

Black Metal by Venom
Nov 05 2025

This was fun. I didn't take it very seriously, and I think that helped. The whole intro to a song just for them to slowly fade out when they got into the song was hilarious.

All Hope Is Gone by Slipknot
Nov 06 2025

This feels like the most structured slipknot album they have? Less experimentation and more centered around mainstream rock at the time? Not sure how to describe it compared to the rest of their work. Either way it's a great album. The last one with Joey Jordison I think, amazing drumming. I forgot how many hits were on this album. Snuff is still such a great sad song. I'm curious to see if there are other slipknot albums on this because I definitely I would have guessed that one of their first three albums would have been on this list before this one. Giving it a 5, but I'd probably rate 4.5 with some of their other albums being a 5.

Rhythm Nation 1814 by Janet Jackson
Nov 07 2025

Not a pop guy, but this seems like a good pop album. It was hard to take some of the deeper lyrics about the world seriously because of the light hearted beats and melodies surrounding them, but it was still a good flow.

Nov 11 2025

I've been sleeping on this album. I regret that I haven't been listening to this for years now. Very similar to the best of Pink Floyd, in my opinion. Great chill listen with plenty of layers to enjoy.

That's The Way Of The World by Earth, Wind & Fire
Nov 12 2025

An album with a little bit of everything. You've got a radio mainstream hits. You've got some jamming going on in the back half. Overall, it's a great balance for a full record. Big fan.

Home Is Where The Music Is by Hugh Masekela
Nov 13 2025

I'm not super into jazz albums at full length, but this was super well done. Great vibes.

Nov 14 2025

Unique and different does not always mean that it's good. This is absolute garbage and I learned nothing from this experience. Over 100 albums into this, and I pray that I don't have anything worse than this one. Dear God, no.

Garbage by Garbage
Nov 18 2025

I had no idea that Butch Vig was the drummer, super cool. Overall, I loved it. It sort of dragged on with the same sound throughout the album, but definitely a lot of highlights.

Nov 19 2025

Am I supposed to know who this guy is? I feel like the enjoyment of this album solely depends on if you know this guy's character or not. Is he a comedian? I don't really get it. It sounded like everyone in the crowd had fun so good for them.

Nov 20 2025

Great beats, great flow. Charisma makes 50 come off like a superstar. Eminem makes some really cool appearances but doesn't take over the whole track. It's definitely 50's album. Really enjoyed this.

A Hard Day's Night by Beatles
Nov 21 2025

Just cool, easy listening. Cool to see how much these guys grow and evolve in such a short time.

Live! by Fela Kuti
Nov 24 2025

This was a fascinating listen. Great chemistry between the full band, good vibes. The percussion at the end dragged on a bit for me. Overall, this is never something I would have sought out on my own, and I'm glad I can say I've heard this one.

C'est Chic by CHIC
Nov 25 2025

Those bass licks are extra tasty. Vibes on vibes on vibes.

#1 Record by Big Star
Nov 26 2025

I enjoyed this one so much more than their 3rd record that we had to listen to. The front side of this is loaded with great songs. It slows down quite a bit on the B-sides, but still really enjoyable.

The Band by The Band
Nov 28 2025

Legendary band, great songs. King Harvest was really enjoyable and a standout song out of the ones I didn't recognize.

The Specials by The Specials
Dec 02 2025

A 1979 ska album? Hell yeah. Really cool to see this one and assume this is a direct influence to so many bands in the 90's and then a band like the Interrupters today. Hated the Do The Dog song but every other song was a great listen!

Parachutes by Coldplay
Dec 03 2025

I enjoyed this way more than I expected. For the year 2000, I guess I can associate them in a genre similar to Train at that time? Adult Contemporary I guess. Either way, I have never given Coldplay a fair shake before. A lot of sadness for a full album, but it's extremely well done. I'm a fan, and I'm really curious to see if these guys pop up again down the road. Yellow is such a good song DAMN.

Jack Takes the Floor by Ramblin' Jack Elliott
Dec 04 2025

It was tolerable at first but it got a little grating over the course of the album. I get that at this time with context, it's different. But nah

The Good, The Bad & The Queen by The Good, The Bad & The Queen
Dec 05 2025

I had no idea this supergroup existed, pretty cool discovery. For 2007, I truly wonder if these guys got together with Damon and wondered "what if we made our own version of the Gorillaz, but less exciting?" That's what this felt like. Very bland Gorillaz. Which isnt even that awful.

After The Gold Rush by Neil Young
Dec 09 2025

I dont know what I expected, but this wasn't it. Something about his voice caught me off guard. A lot of songs reminded me of "Old man" which isn't on the album. It's a great album but feels like he rehashes a lot of ideas.

In Utero by Nirvana
Dec 10 2025

So much messier than Nevermind, but intentional.

Sunshine Superman by Donovan
Dec 12 2025

Season of the witch and sunshine Superman are the obvious standouts. This is what I imagine the 60's sounding like. It's a bit all over the place but some songs are phenomenal.

Mothership Connection by Parliament
Dec 15 2025

Listened to this on the 50th anniversary. Pretty cool. Felt like a bunch of salesmen were trying to sell me funk. I'm sold. Those bass lines and vibes were amazing.

Dirt by Alice In Chains
Dec 16 2025

An album about a downward spiral into addiction while screaming for help. An unreal album. Layne Staley stands outs on every single track. One of the best albums of the 90's.

Beyond Skin by Nitin Sawhney
Dec 17 2025

I really enjoyed the first two songs. And then i dont know what happened to the rest of this album. It's experimental for sure. But damn this was tough. Immigrant very much gave me Disney movie vibes.

Dirty by Sonic Youth
Dec 18 2025

The middle ground between the pixies and Nirvana, maybe? This album started strong for me and slowly fell off a cliff. An hour for this type of music is too much.

It's A Shame About Ray by The Lemonheads
Dec 19 2025

This was awesome. I've only known the Mrs Robinson cover before this. I didn't expect a soul asylum type 1992 alternative album, but I loved this. I'm gonna revisit this one again for sure.

Young Americans by David Bowie
Dec 22 2025

This might be my favorite Bowie album when looking at it from front-to-back. Really impressed by this one

Green Onions by Booker T. & The MG's
Dec 23 2025

This was super cool. Recognizing how many of these tracks got remixed and utilized over the next several decades shows how impactful it was

Shleep by Robert Wyatt
Dec 24 2025
Music in Exile by Songhoy Blues
Dec 25 2025

These guys are a vibe for sure

Dec 26 2025

So this is just where the most famous version of every Christmas song came from. Got it. DMX's Rudolph still reigns superior but this was delightful.

Head Hunters by Herbie Hancock
Dec 30 2025

I love it. Extra funky groovy wiley stylin

Germfree Adolescents by X-Ray Spex
Dec 31 2025

Solid old school punk/alternative. Punk rock chicks are badass.

Logical Progression by LTJ Bukem
Jan 01 2026

These are decent to good beats. I didn't hate this listen. But just like any album, 1:45-2 hours is a chore, especially when it's just drum and bass. It's been decent background music while knocking out mundane work tasks.

Songs In The Key Of Life by Stevie Wonder
Jan 05 2026

This album is great. It's so much fun. Talent is off the charts. Why is it a double album and nearly two hours long??? Double albums are my worst enemy at this point

Hot Rats by Frank Zappa
Jan 06 2026

Coherent and interesting

Scott 2 by Scott Walker
Jan 07 2026

It's unique, but it's a bit too much for me. Something about this made me irritated.

Darkdancer by Les Rythmes Digitales
Jan 08 2026

One of the better dance albums I've heard. Recognized a lot of things they sampled or ending up being sampled later on. Good vibes

Lady In Satin by Billie Holiday
Jan 09 2026

Very pleasant listen

Rust Never Sleeps by Neil Young & Crazy Horse
Jan 12 2026

This guy really does seem like a whiny little douche

Rubber Soul by Beatles
Jan 13 2026

I think this is where the Beatles really entered a new era, more mature. It's a great evolution in such a short time. A great listen.

Aqualung by Jethro Tull
Jan 15 2026

I've always thought Jethro Tull was kind of lame and known as the flute guy that somehow beat Metallica at the Grammys. But the flute goes kinda hard not gonna lie

Lost Souls by Doves
Jan 16 2026

This album was great for me while wired on coffee and locked into work, getting things done. That's gotta count for something. I think if I was listening to it while driving, it'd be boring. So it definitely has its place, an enjoyable listen for my setting.

Green River by Creedence Clearwater Revival
Jan 19 2026

John Fogerty is amazing.

Superunknown by Soundgarden
Jan 20 2026

I thought I liked Soundgarden, but this shows I REALLY like soundgarden. I knew all of the radio singles, but this album flowed really well from front to back. And there's a reason that Chris Cornell is recognized as one of the best vocalists of all time. This album right here.

Gasoline Alley by Rod Stewart
Jan 21 2026

This sounds like a Faces record, which I'm all about. This does feel like it drags on a bit. Not sure if we'll have later era Rod Stewart on this journey, but I'll cross that bridge when I get there. Until then, this is a decent starting point

Third by Soft Machine
Jan 22 2026

Thought I was near the end just to realize I was only halfway through the second track. It's just too much.

The Slider by T. Rex
Jan 23 2026

The second T. Rex album now. This caused me to do a little more of a deep dive. Familiar with a couple songs prior, I thought this album was better than electric warrior. It flowed better, and I think the influence that this band had on so many artist later on shines more on this album. I had no idea the singer died at 29. So that makes him around 24 here? The talent is insane. Very sad. For glam rock, I can see so much lasting impact that he had on the genre, with his fingerprints all over the 80's. Ahead of his time.

Music for the Masses by Depeche Mode
Jan 26 2026

I like the overall gothy sound. It's why I like the cure. This has more electronic sounds incorporated but still a good moody listen. I think there's a bit of filler (pimpf) but I'm glad I got to give Depeche Mode a shot

Unknown Pleasures by Joy Division
Jan 27 2026

Right after I get done saying I enjoy the gloomy gothy sounds of Depeche Mode, I get this album. It's clear that this was an influence for so many cool bands to follow, but this album doesn't really do it for me. It feels very middle of the road.

Buena Vista Social Club by Buena Vista Social Club
Jan 29 2026

It's diverse and expansive. A lot of groovy tunes. I'd go 3.5/5 just for my personal taste, but a 3 star rating does feel too low.

Jan 30 2026

Some good old school rap for the most part. I'd give this a 3.5 overall, a lot of good flow and beats

Paul's Boutique by Beastie Boys
Feb 02 2026

Gotta say, I think this album gets a little too much hype. The singles on this album are great, and the whole album is a lot of fun. The beastie boys are amazing, but it always seems odd that this is known as their best work. They've got some other killer albums.

Get Behind Me Satan by The White Stripes
Feb 03 2026

It's a huge switch up from Elephant, but I enjoyed this album much more

Queen Of Denmark by John Grant
Feb 05 2026

This guy really had me thinking "this album journey has really showed me that all singer/songwriters are huge pompous assholes" in the beginning. There's definitely been a trend. And that still might be true. But somehow this album slowly grew on me. I do think "Marz" is just a horrible song. But sigourney weaver and chicken bones are somehow fun. I'm not sure. It's an interesting listen. I definitely hear a lot of Bowie, some Pink Floyd. Apple Music has them on a "inspired by the flaming lips" list and I could definitely hear some of that too

Shalimar by Rahul Dev Burman
Feb 06 2026

So this is a movie soundtrack, and I felt like I could tell when the struggle happens in the middle. Or I'm assuming so. That was kinda cool. I enjoyed the beginning. This music isn't for me but I'll respect it

Cloud Nine by The Temptations
Feb 09 2026

This was a great album. But I feel like it was missing something to really put it over the top as a masterpiece. Not intended to be a knock, just why I'm not giving it a 5

Licensed To Ill by Beastie Boys
Feb 10 2026

The best beastie boys album in my opinion. Front to back no skips

Good Old Boys by Randy Newman
Feb 11 2026

Who gave the Toy Story guy the N word pass???

The Stranger by Billy Joel
Feb 12 2026

Most of these songs were great. There are some phenomenal songs on this record that stand the test of time. Overall, I'd probably give this a 4.5 but I'll round up.

The La's by The La's
Feb 13 2026

So this is a great example of their breakout known hit being nothing like the rest of their catalogue. Got it. Kind of a bummer. Very velvet underground-esque

The Stone Roses by The Stone Roses
Feb 16 2026

Great listen. I love this small time period that helped bridge the gap between hair metal and grunge

Eagles by Eagles
Feb 17 2026

Everyone making Lebowski jokes, but I like the eagles. But I don't think this album is their best

This made my work day so chaotic in such a short amount of time, it was impressive. This is some jazz I'd hear on the Eric Andre show. But I didn't have the comedy of the show to go with it. It's way too much and I hated it.

Sex Packets by Digital Underground
Feb 19 2026

I was just uncomfortable the whole time. The humpty dance is fine. The beats are fine. But it seems like these guys are committed to a gimmick that they think it's funny when in reality it's gross. It feels weird that on a list also including NWA and Marshall Mathers LP, this one felt the most violating. I can't put my finger on why this one crossed a line and those didn't. But it is what it is

Boy In Da Corner by Dizzee Rascal
Feb 20 2026

These beats are awesome. I bet the instrumental version is solid. But I didn't enjoy the rapping by this dude at all. No flow, no style, super generic. If this dude made his own beats, I hope he just kept doing that

Moving Pictures by Rush
Feb 23 2026

Progressive rock can only do so much me but Rush does the most out of all of it. Tom Sawyer, Limelight, and YYZ all on the same album?? Cmon

...And Justice For All by Metallica
Feb 24 2026

Guitar riffs are crazy and heavy hitting. Hetfield kicks ass. Lars' drumming on To Live is To Die is so laughably bad. How is this man drumming for one of the biggest bands of all time?? One is such a good song, the rest make for a great supporting cast of an album.

Pump by Aerosmith
Feb 25 2026

"Don't get mad, get even" kinda lost me. But other than that, is this the greatest Aerosmith album?? They've always been a great rock band that really leans into their bluesy roots (not going to acknowledge the late late years) but this was stellar front to back. 4.5/5

Fromohio by fIREHOSE
Feb 26 2026

It's fine. It's chill. Nothing more, nothing less. Already forgot about it

Toys In The Attic by Aerosmith
Feb 27 2026

Crazy that Sweet Emotion wasn't the album opener. It's literally right there. Either way, a good old school bluesy rock album that is a peek at what Aerosmith would evolve into. I think Pump is a better album from what we've had on this list, but still a great listen.

Queens of the Stone Age by Queens Of The Stone Age
Mar 02 2026

It's fine. Started off great but really dragged on. Very stoner rock-esque, but I can see the foundation of what they grew into at a pretty fast pace. Weird that this was the album on this list.

Blood On The Tracks by Bob Dylan
Mar 03 2026

Definitely some Randy Newman vibes in there but less racist. Easy listening for a coffee in the early morning. A lot of good memories with Tangled Up in Blue

Tracy Chapman by Tracy Chapman
Mar 04 2026

Tracy Chapman is so cool

Vauxhall And I by Morrissey
Mar 05 2026

It's not too bad. Easy listening, not too whiny. I enjoy the gothic vibes. I'm pretty sure we've had a morissey album before, and I think I like this one more.

Blood Sugar Sex Magik by Red Hot Chili Peppers
Mar 06 2026

This album rocks. Funky, fun, punk, rock, genre flipping like crazy. The instrumental group behind RHCP (flea, Chad, John) are probably my favorite grouping ever. Kiedis isn't for everyone, but he does make for a unique sound.

Yoshimi Battles The Pink Robots by The Flaming Lips
Mar 09 2026

Very interesting. The only song I knew prior was "She don't use jelly" which was super different from this. This gave me a lot of Gorillaz vibes. Easy listen, but nothing really grabbed my attention either.

Grace by Jeff Buckley
Mar 10 2026

This surprised me as a good album. A lot of great variety, weaving between laid back and rocking out.

Connected by Stereo MC's
Mar 11 2026

I enjoyed this, but I bit long. Great bass lines, groovy all the way through

Disintegration by The Cure
Mar 12 2026

Really enjoy the Cure. A better Morissey?

Let England Shake by PJ Harvey
Mar 13 2026

I don't understand why this album specifically was must-listen. The other PJ Harvey was so much better. I did like The Last Living Rose though

Master Of Puppets by Metallica
Mar 16 2026

This album was so much better than And Justice For All. It's better than the black album. This has gotta be their best work

Pretzel Logic by Steely Dan
Mar 19 2026

There's not such thing as bad steely Dan. But there is better steely Dan than this album.

On The Beach by Neil Young
Mar 23 2026

Neil young just doesn't do it for me. Boring, whiny, not my vibe.

Deja Vu by Crosby, Stills, Nash & Young
Mar 24 2026

So I learned that I like Crosby, stills, and Nash way more than I like Crosby, stills, Nash, and young. Cool

Mar 25 2026

Started off great, similar vibes to talking heads. But it drifts off fast. Literally lulled me to sleep

Superfly by Curtis Mayfield
Mar 30 2026

Right up my alley

Hounds Of Love by Kate Bush
Mar 31 2026

Started off strong but just kind of tapered off with filler

Apr 01 2026

A groovy feel from front to back with a message behind it. I'm down

Walking Wounded by Everything But The Girl
Apr 02 2026

Not going to say it's the worst album, because it's far from it. But definitely one of the most boring

Like A Prayer by Madonna
Apr 03 2026

Dear Jesse was way too Disney-fied for me. But overall a front half heavy loaded pop record. The back half slides down a bit but overall not too bad

Live And Dangerous by Thin Lizzy
Apr 06 2026

This rocked so much more than I expected. Not typically a live album guy but they bring it here. Still in love with you was such a jam

Siembra by Willie Colón & Rubén Blades
Apr 07 2026

I love a good salsa

3 Feet High and Rising by De La Soul
Apr 08 2026

Lot of ups and downs with this album. The skits didn't really hit for me at all, but then a good song. Then a bad song. Then a bad skit. Then good song. Repeat.

Feast of Wire by Calexico
Apr 10 2026

I dont know why I enjoyed this so much. But I did. Attack El Robot! Attack! Was my favorite. No more explanation.

Be by Common
Apr 13 2026

Every word and rhyme felt meaningful and purposeful. Great vibes

Tanto Tempo by Bebel Gilberto
Apr 16 2026

A little diversity in sound near the end but overall just consistently average

Apr 17 2026

Apple Music lists this as pop so with that considered, I really enjoyed this one. I think it dates itself, and you can clearly tell this late 80's inspired, but it's still solid

Blue by Joni Mitchell
Apr 20 2026

It's not that she's not talented but this was o damn boring. She's just reading a book out loud I think?

Five Leaves Left by Nick Drake
Apr 21 2026

Much better than Joni Mitchell yesterday

Infected by The The
Apr 22 2026

This was such a chore to get through. I dont know why. This album specifically broke me away from this list for over a week. And coming back to it was just as difficult

Different Class by Pulp
Apr 23 2026

I can see the talent and the depth put into this. But I also feel like there's more to be desired. If his follow up album ends up being better and complete, it wouldn't surprise me. It feels like there's something bigger in store for this artist, and this is the lead up

Aja by Steely Dan
Apr 24 2026

Cooler than the other side of a pillow. Is it a bold take to say Can't Buy a Thrill is the better album?

The Pleasure Principle by Gary Numan
Apr 30 2026

For 1979 this had to be bold. I respect that. Overall just a bit too experimental for me

Heartattack And Vine by Tom Waits
May 01 2026

oh brother, not this guy again. "I paid fifteen dollars for a prostitute with too much makeup and a broken shoe" sorry to tell you Drunken Tom but that was probably a dude. Better instrumentals than the last album from him but I'm gonna credit literally anyone else than Tom and his shitty voice. Clear your throat one single time

Bayou Country by Creedence Clearwater Revival
May 05 2026

it's a great album. but it's not CCR at the height of their powers. Such a great band

Dr. Octagonecologyst by Dr. Octagon
May 06 2026

So he's a doctor that did a whole album about being a doctor. Coolio. This felt very middle of the road. Definitely a couple tracks that had me bobbing my head more than others

At Budokan by Cheap Trick
May 07 2026

Really interesting to hear their most popular song "Surrender" be announced as a track that just came off the new album that week along with not being their closing song. Overall, nothing crazy stood out to me on this live record. Other live records on here really showed the power behind a bands sound that couldn't be captured in a studio. I think this one is very similar to their studio sound which essentially makes this a greatest hits album. Meh.

Violator by Depeche Mode
May 08 2026

Super chill. Really like the moody vibes. Similar to nine inch nails in a way. Didn't hate this one bit

Wish You Were Here by Pink Floyd
May 11 2026

A different vibe from Dark Side of The Moon, but this album is such a complete masterpiece. It takes you on a ride so effortlessly. Starting and ending with Shine on You Crazy Diamond and anchored down with Wish You were Here in the middle, this is what an album as one piece of art should be

Getz/Gilberto by Stan Getz
May 12 2026

Super soothing. Just easy jazz. Not something I'll find myself listening to too often, but I can see where people would love it

American Pie by Don McLean
May 13 2026

This guy really bet the house on American Pie being a hit because every other song on this is just a slightly less good version of it

The Rolling Stones by The Rolling Stones
May 14 2026

Really cool to see the foundation put in place for what they'd become. Seems like a lot of cover songs if I'm not mistaken but they clearly had a little bit of swagger by this point already. Clear to see them getting massive not too much longer after this

It's Blitz! by Yeah Yeah Yeahs
May 15 2026

It felt very 2009. Nothing crazy, just very middle of the road

Doolittle by Pixies
May 18 2026

Can very clearly hear the influence they had on Nirvana. This is such a great album and cool transition era from hair metal to grunge. Not sure why, but Hey will always have me grooving. Front to back, easy listen.

Heaven Or Las Vegas by Cocteau Twins
May 19 2026

Loved it. The only band that I would compare to is Beach House. But this might have opened a whole entire genre up for me

Headquarters by The Monkees
May 20 2026

plain jane US version of the beatles

Vanishing Point by Primal Scream
May 21 2026

tale of two sides with this album. Really enjoyed the front half. Gotta remember this for snowboarding. Oddly enough, they kind of lost me when they switched to the indie rock on the back half

Parallel Lines by Blondie
May 22 2026

Just solid from front to back. Love the hint of attitude but definitely has the mainstream sound to break out. I don't think I would call it single-heavy even though 2 of the tracks were pretty big for her

Tres Hombres by ZZ Top
May 25 2026

Bluesy and consistent all the way through. Two songs popped up to me - Jesus just left Chicago sounded just like Night Prowler by ACDC, and Hot Blue and Righteous reminded me of the melody of Purple Rain. Just solid all the way through though, and it doesn't overstay it's welcome with runtime.

Layla And Other Assorted Love Songs by Derek & The Dominos
May 26 2026

I can't believe I was sleeping on this album. I've heard Layla so many times that it just drags on for me with no reason to explore this Clapton project further. But this album. Phenomenal. One of the best albums that I've heard from this list.

Rock Bottom by Robert Wyatt
May 27 2026

You will not convince me that this is an album that needed to be listened to before I died. Convinced that the author of this list threw a couple of these on here to not only make us suffer but also see who would actually listen to a full album like this

...Baby One More Time by Britney Spears
May 28 2026

Felt like a really solid pop record. Good production, standard run of the mill "insert talented girl to sing all the songs that were written by people that want to get rich quick" album. But Britney is awesome, I probably have some favoritism toward the rating. Never listened to this one from outside of the singles, but glad to dive deeper on this one

1977 by Ash
May 29 2026

It just kind of drags. Starts decent and then stays mellow.

Jagged Little Pill by Alanis Morissette
Jun 01 2026

What a great album from front to back. I'm not sure if I'd be able to pick random deep cuts and listen out of order which is why I'm not giving this a 5, but I'm really glad I listened to this

Neon Bible by Arcade Fire
Jun 02 2026

My body is a cage really stuck out to me. But overall, just very plain.

LP1 by FKA twigs
Jun 03 2026

This was a spicy pop record

Jun 04 2026

It's not something I'd ever listen to outside of this, but it very much seems like some really good, old school, sad guy country. I can see the appeal, and it was a solid listen

Illinois by Sufjan Stevens
Jun 05 2026

As someone from illinois, the lyrics were so cheesy. Just not good at all. But the instrumentals were great. Not something I'll listen to again. But I'd compare him to current day Noah Kahan which isn't my thing either

The Velvet Underground by The Velvet Underground
Jun 08 2026

it's just so....boring. Second album I've listened through, and even though it's something I wish I understood, I just don't. They had an underground culture impact but at the end of the day they were just strung out on heroin making droning music. I'm just not the demographic for that

Jun 09 2026

76 minutes flew by on this one. Just a masterpiece that I've never listened to before. I recognized so much of this album just from the radio and the singles, but that's almost the entire album. Just phenomenal.

Country Life by Roxy Music
Jun 10 2026

I enjoyed the front half of this much more than the last album by them. Very Bowie-esque. The back half lost me again

Life Thru A Lens by Robbie Williams
Jun 11 2026

I only know this guy as the monkey man prior to this. Glad to have a reason to check him out. This album started great and was really hitting the mark as a comparable to Oasis britpop. Turns out that the album is super front loaded, and the back half just seems like quite a bit of filler songs that are much more generic. I'd give the front half a 4, and the back half a 2.

Jun 12 2026

Not a U2 fan, but they are simply unavoidable for anyone that has listened to the radio. I've always heard how good this album was. It's fine. There's definitely a few standouts, and it feels like they try their best to make every single song and expand on it to make it feel larger than life. I can see how this goes over well in an arena. But there's some misses too. It's just, boring.

Born To Run by Bruce Springsteen
Jun 15 2026

Not the biggest fan of bruce springsteen and his singing style, but this album was great from front to back. Great vibes. 10th avenue freeze out is my jam

Jun 17 2026

much more diverse than the last album we listened to. Cool to see the growth and experimentation come out on this one.

Highway to Hell by AC/DC
Jun 18 2026

It might be formulaic, but they damn near created the formula and have done it better than anyone else. With Bon Scott, they were so good at bringing that sleazy, dirty, grimy feel to rock music in such a fun way. This album never gets old.

Scissor Sisters by Scissor Sisters
Jun 19 2026

I can't believe I recognized multiple songs by these guys. This was a fun album. A beegees-esque disco album in the 21st century is a welcoming idea but it's not going to have any staying power with me. It was fine.

My Aim Is True by Elvis Costello
Jun 22 2026

It's a solid listen. I wouldn't ever say it's "must-listen" but I can definitely see how this could have made a big impact and influence on other musicians in 1977. Felt like the album got better as it went on and wasn't "single heavy" which helps.

Amnesiac by Radiohead
Jun 24 2026

I enjoyed this way more than expected. Super soothing. Not a radiohead guy historically, but I've listened to two albums in the last two months that are making me start to question why I'm not listening to more

Metallica by Metallica
Jun 25 2026

People can say whatever they want about this album. But it fires on all cylinders and checks all of the same boxes as the prior albums. Front to back great songs with plenty of thrash. Sets a high bar for this genre

S.F. Sorrow by The Pretty Things
Jun 26 2026

Loved this. The sound of a Sgt Peppers era Beatles with some attitude of the Rolling Stones maybe? Really cool and easy listen from front to back

At Fillmore East by The Allman Brothers Band
Jun 29 2026

Did not expect a jam band on this one. What a treat. Also didn't expect so much blues to be in this one rather than a folky sound. Just guys being dudes on this one, probably high as the sky

A Girl Called Dusty by Dusty Springfield
Jun 30 2026

For such an old album, really had a lot of variety. And could not believe how many of these songs I already knew. Really surprisingly good listen.

Jul 01 2026

Felt like this was a great sound, easy listen. Would definitely say I'm a fan now. But the runtime for a sound like this is egregious

White Blood Cells by The White Stripes
Jul 02 2026

The best White Stripes album that I've heard so far

Jul 03 2026

it just felt like the same song on repeat. And it was a super average song where this guy tries to be a punk rocker with his personality but also super sensitive? It just doesn't work

Seventeen Seconds by The Cure
Jul 06 2026

If you've never heard The Cure before, definitely see why this wouldn't be your thing. Thought this was really cool to hear where they started. The foundation and potential is clearly there. Really cool sound, but nowhere near what they ended up going on to make

Jul 09 2026

Love it. Old Cash has some serious passion in these songs in a hauntingly good way. His younger days have a bit more variety, but I don't think that's what he was going for here. Hurt will always be incredible but not as good as the original NIN version

Shaft by Isaac Hayes
Jul 10 2026

Hell. Yeah. I wish he sang more. Prefer his other albums for this reason

Everybody Knows This Is Nowhere by Neil Young & Crazy Horse
Jul 14 2026

Neil Young's voice is somehow not insufferable here? Instrumentals and songs were great on this one

Risque by CHIC
Jul 16 2026

A decent rotation between dance songs and love songs. The dance songs are so much better

Californication by Red Hot Chili Peppers
Jul 17 2026

What I feel is their best work is going to depend on the day. They've got so many good albums, and all four (shoutout John Frusciante) are so talented individually. My only gripe is that there is probably some filler songs near the end, but this is such a great album to have on this list from a musical aspect and cultural aspect.

Hunky Dory by David Bowie
Jul 20 2026

David Bowie continues to be one of my favorite artists on this list

KIWANUKA by Michael Kiwanuka
Jul 21 2026

Don't know much about this artist but I'm gonna start. Woahhhh

Devil Without A Cause by Kid Rock
Jul 22 2026

ashamed to admit how much I enjoyed this album. Some (most) of these lyrics don't age well at all, but it's still fun. Pretty mindless stuff. Black chick, white guy definitely lost me and I have zero intention of listening to it again. But then, the back half also just re-plays I am the Bullgod for a second time as a hidden track? Just kinda weird decision making

Konnichiwa by Skepta
Jul 23 2026

it's just not enjoyable. Drags on. Cheesy ahh lyrics.

In Rainbows by Radiohead
Jul 24 2026

coincidentally the third time I've tried this album this year. Every time, it gets better. I feel like this album has so much re-playability to uncover new layers in it. weird fishes was the standout for me. Overall, definitely feels like it's meant as one whole piece of art instead of chopped together singles which I really appreciate. I can get lost in the whole thing pretty easily and never takes me out of it. Really surprised by how much I like it, I don't think I would have felt the same 5 years ago but I'm curious to check them out more now

Led Zeppelin III by Led Zeppelin
Jul 28 2026

Maybe my least favorite of Zeppelin 1-4, but still an amazing sound. They took such a turn with their sound on this one instead of coasting with the same heavy hooks from the first two years

Slanted And Enchanted by Pavement
Jul 29 2026

It's like the Pixies met the Replacements and then met Weezer

The Wall by Pink Floyd
Jul 30 2026

I've heard this many times before, but it has been a few years. I initially was thinking it was going to lose a point for dragging on too long. But damn, what a masterpiece. There isn't even close to a thought of 'patiently waiting for the next song' until maybe the last 2-3 tracks. Every time I listen, I come out with a different outlook on my internal struggles and get very introspective. The overall story of tackling depression, anxiety, etc. while trying to hold it together to the public. Meanwhile, each brick keeps getting added to the wall. I love it, man

We Are Family by Sister Sledge
Jul 31 2026

Great grooves, but every song is about twice as long as it should be

Band On The Run by Paul McCartney and Wings
Aug 03 2026

10/10 no notes. Just when I thought the self titled album was going to be the one carrying everything, Mrs Vandebilt comes out of nowhere. No skips from front to back, Paul McCartney is the man.

Bossanova by Pixies
Aug 04 2026

Very much a Pixies album but not as fun as doolittle or surfer rosa. Just fine

Two Dancers by Wild Beasts
Aug 05 2026

has its ups, has its obnoxious downs

New York Dolls by New York Dolls
Aug 06 2026

it's a wild stat how many bands were influenced by these guys. Ahead of their time
