I wanted to like this because of the album name, but I can't get there.
I couldn't take it anymore. The singing is god awful and shrieky. The music is annoying. I don't know why I needed to hear this at all before I die. 1/5

Dislike..... I had high hopes going into it, but immediately was disappointed. Instead of the lyrics "Get off me" it should say "turn this off".
This album was making me angry, like I couldn’t even finish it. God I hated this
I had never heard of this band/album before, and surprise surprise, they are British. This is uninteresting and inessential. I will never think of this band again.

Well given the album name I knew it would be…. interesting to say the least. And it wasn’t even that. It was lacking in all areas other that weirdness and provided no good oomph as to why it made it on this list.
UK Nü Metal. Really not my cup of tea. I liked how political the singer was but that’s about it.
No, I tried, I can't get through. Less than 30 albums on my "catch-up list"and they're all ones I've avoided. Hopefully there will be a few surprises /sigh. Not this album though.

I came into this album with pretty low expectations and it still underachieved. Right off the bat, it just seemed like a tamer version of screamcore and I don’t even like that genre. Then there are ballads. I expect to have forgotten this band’s name by tomorrow.

Pop nu metal?? Ikke for mig. Overhovedet.
This started out ok.. Felt a bit inspired by RATM and .. Tina Turner? There were several times where her voice sent shakes down my spine because it sounded so false.... The best parts were the ballads, the rest was bland and pretty uninspiring.

This is quite bad. It's like ska meets Avril Lavigne. There's no fluidity and the harmonics are very abrasive. The lead singer is like nails on a chalkboard and without much rhythm or cadence. I'm trying to push through the entire record, but it is very difficult.
Yeah, that’s gonna be a nope from me. Maybe I am not the target audience. A chore to make it through; somehow irritating but still bland.
With all due respect to some of the lyrics' social aspects, this is just about the opposite of what I want rock music to sound like. 0.5/5
Auditory violation. I admire the female vocals for a moment, am reminded of Evanescence, and the repulsion and nausea set in. Not in the least bit sexy, or enjoyable. File under N for Noxious.

This was insufferable. I guess I could understand why others would like it but this was like a near hour of nails on a chalkboard for me.
The singles I knew from this band were melodic and absolutely focussed around the personality of lead singer, Skin. Now listening to this album for the first time it is way heavier than I recalled this band being. It starts Prodigy-esque before moving into Rage Against the Machine territory. It’s got a real nineties feel and isn’t quite either grunge or metal. It’s all a bit shouty for me and not something I’d particularly listen to again. It feels quite dated.
If I wanted to listen to a woman screaming at me for 40 minutes, I'd stay home. Pass.

i don't remember skunk anansie having a nu-metal phase and if you got a list of their albums and said that is definitely the one you have to listen to, it gives you the best representation of the band and what they offer that is unique, it aint this album. i'm not surprised they went on hiatus after this album as it is clearly a band that has lost its way.
A post orgasmic chill unlike no other I've ever experienced. Usually I'm flying through the clouds, feeling like just about the best bloke in Britain, but this post-coital bliss is kind of different. It makes me feel dirty, grubby, like an unwashed toothbrush being gently guided down the back of a hippy and into their undergrowth as a form of entertainment for a gang of posh youths trying to up their street cred in front of the prettiest transexual this side of the Mississippi.
