A very under rated group from the 1960s. Great sounds and it was recorded in Mono not stereo. Smooth grooves lush sounds. Very nostalgic for me.
Deep Purple · 1 likes
5/5
One of my favorite albums in my teenage years. Lord's organ playing on these songs is awesome and became one of my favorite instruments. Blackmore is awesome with his guitar playing. Ian Gillan on vocals one of rocks best frontmen. All hel together with a rhythm section of Paice on drums and Glover on bass. Plus one great sing after another. Space Truckin Highway Star and Smoke on the Water are highlights

Dr. Dre
3/5
Not being a big rap fan this album was just okay for me. Definitely a highly polished and engineering production. I liked the rhythm and beats better than the rap style and lyrics. Interesting to see Jewell featured on it.
Steely Dan
4/5
Nick Drake
5/5
I recently rediscovered this artist and enjoy listening to this album in the morning with my coffee. He has a deep rich smooth voice similar to a fresh cup of coffee
The Who
5/5
It was great to listen to this old time favorite live album. One of the better live albums of the era. The drumming by Moon is amazing and Daltrey's voice is in fine tune mode. Great riffs and extended plays by Townshend. The Ox holds it all together with that heavy thunderous bass playing.
Michael Jackson
5/5
An excellent album by the Pop Master sickly produced great rhythm and musicality. Several wonderful songs with the ultimate Halloween music video on Thriller.
Public Enemy
3/5
David Bowie
5/5
The album that made him a black star and projected on a path away from glam rock and his bisexual characterizations of imaginable stars. Produced and recorded in my home town of Philadelphia-Philly soul time. Plenty of guest artists
Elliott Smith
4/5
I never heard of this artist but enjoyed listening to this album. He has a smooth easy listening voice on these songs which are engineered nicely. His 5th well produced album and definitely worth exploring his earlier catalog and posthumously released material.
KISS
4/5
Kiss hit the big time right after I left teenager years behind me. But I did take notice to this album their 4th and it's a very good rock n roll album which took American youth by storm. It's just fun fantastic music and what outfits makeup and showmanship. Recommend this for 2 or 3 listens in a row.
R.E.M.
4/5
Probably their best album. I was never a big fan because their songs sound similar from record to record. This album has some very good numbers on it and is worth adding to your LP collection
Fela Kuti
5/5
This album slipped by me unnoticed back in the day. This is an excellent live album with a great rhythm section. I really enjoyed listening to this LP and will be adding it to my collection.
Frank Sinatra
5/5
Ol blue eyes knocks it out of the park with this LP. A great set of classic songs to dance to or snuggle with your honey with a drink on a Saturday evening. I really enjoyed listening to this one on a lazy Sunday morning.
Talking Heads
4/5
By this album Talking Heads were a polished alternative rock band. It fact they are probably the original alternative rock band. This album has one song after another offered up by bands smooth grooving sounds. Take Me To The River tops the list of these.
Tom Waits
3/5
I sometimes wonder how some people get record contracts. Waits does some interesting and thought provoking material. I like some of his novelty songs. This album is okay too many songs that are not that good drag it out.
Eagles
4/5
A solid debut album by one of the best selling bands ever. With three big single releases that will get you singing along with the band. 2 great songwriters Glen Frey and drummer Don Henley.
The Specials
4/5
This was my first lusten to a ska/punk band and I found it fun refreshing and danceable. There lyrics are rooted in social commentary of the establishment society and other social issues. The music is a joy to hear. They are particularly good on their live cuts. I listened to the deluxe edition which I recommend for the live recordings. Too bad they only released 2 LPs back in the early 80s.
Gang Starr
5/5
I can see why this LP was voted the best of all time. This sophomore effort has got some great grooves on it. The cuts synch and flow into one another.
Grateful Dead
3/5
I always felt the Grateful Dead live jams were overrated and this being the initial one proves it. When this was released they weren't very good musicians but they did improve over time. I do like Turn On Your Lovelight. It was pretty good in the 60s.
The Smashing Pumpkins
3/5
An enormous effort by Corgan and the band. There are some terrific songs on this LP particularly in the first LP. That's probably where it should of ended. Concept albums of this length get boring and tedious.
The Strokes
3/5
Tracy Chapman
5/5
This debut album is an excellent album showcasing the talents of this artist. It was a refreshing LP to break on to the scene at the time of it's release. Has a hit single and the other songs are well written sung and arranged.
Justin Timberlake
3/5
Jethro Tull
5/5
This is one of the best albums ever created!! So original both musically and lyrical content. Ian Anderson is a genius and in his eccentrically bizarre stories makes a social statement for the ages. His flute playing is iconic and inventive. This is a must LP for your rock collection. Is it prog rock or is it so original it belongs on a shelf of it's own.
Neil Young & Crazy Horse
3/5
If you like that grunge sound this is your type of LP. A few good cuts in here Love to Burn Mansion on The Hill F***in Up. It's missing that big long guitar song with great lyrics like Cortez The Killer Southern Nan or Like a Hurricane.
Depeche Mode
4/5
Nice LP to listen to when you're driving late at night or relaxing at home with the lights low and a glass of beer or wine. Lush sounds cape well engineered and priduced.
Foo Fighters
4/5
Even though the Foo Fighters are not one of my generational bands the sound which they created started with this LP. A very good debut LP. I can see why they became so popular with their generation.
The Cure
4/5
I enjoyed listening to this dark ethereal LP. So different from their later pop LPs which are good too. It has a nice sonic quality to it. Would be nice to listen to in the dark or on a stormy night or a late night drive during a full moon.
Jimi Hendrix
5/5
From the opening dissonant tritonic riff from Jimi's guitar this is one of the best LPs ever created. The psychedelic rock blues songs just seamlessly flow from one to another like streams feeding the river. Filled with great songs and sonic spacey riffs and soundscapes. Definitely one of the greatest albums created.
The Yardbirds
4/5
I enjoyed listening to this retro album from the 60s. A little before my musical awakening. I love the short song lengths that flow nicely together along with a few of the song titles. Psycho Daisies for one. Beck is excellent and so his the least of the band.
Def Leppard
4/5
I was never a fan of the long haired hard rock of the 80s but after listening to this LP it might change my view of some of their material. This is a strong album with 3 or 4 top hits on it plus other good songs.
Stevie Wonder
5/5
This is one of the best LPs ever. Filled with great grooves smooth musicality and thoughtful lyricism that Stevie is one of the best at. A must listen and add to your record collection. Filled with hit songs.
U2
4/5
This LP was the followup of their previous album Rattle and Hum. It's also shows they were trying to get away from their signature sound. Pretty good album with some nice cuts on it. Mysterious Ways, One, Even better Than The Real Thing.
Roxy Music
3/5
This is an average LP for Roxy in my opinion with a few good cuts. Put out between Standed and Siren it is the weaker of the three.
Machito
5/5
This album is Da Bomb!! Never even heard of it or Machito himself. I was opened up to whole new jazz music genre. Thr percussion is awesome and so is the sax playing. I loved it ❤️ 💙 💜 💖 💗 💘
Sister Sledge
5/5
I have to rate this LP with 5 stars for a few reasons. First it's a very good Rn B album. It has a signature song on it plus other groovin" rhythms thru out the other sings. Great vocals by the Sledge Sisters and by the way Debbie Sledge was in my high school graduating class. So yes from my hometown of Philadelphia city of soul R n B and the blues. This album was a big factor from that 70s scene. Only disappointment was the Pittsburgh Pirates made We Are Family their championship theme song instead of the Phillies of Philadelphia.
Nine Inch Nails
5/5
I only ever heard a handful of songs NIN before listening to this LP and was darkly surprised after this first listen. This album is genius cutting edge at it's release time and the song Hurt was a big hit for Johnny Cash the "man in black." Will add it to my play list.
Teenage Fanclub
1/5
Could not make it thru this LP at all. Found it to be poorly recorded and produced. Don't know how anyone voted album of the year.
Billy Joel
5/5
This is one of Joel's best albums with a couple rockin songs a love song and a romantic one. The songs are tracked in a thoughtful order. Great music!!
Kanye West
1/5
Siouxsie And The Banshees
4/5
A very good initial effort by Siouxsie and her band. This LP was a groundbreaking at its time for their post punk sound and a woman lead singer of the band. Although their were others before her it was rare. Nice cover of the Beatles Helter Skelter and as time went on they got better n better. Big smash in England but not so much in America.
Hugh Masekela
4/5
This album from the South African trumpet master reminds me of smokey basement club rooms in the major cities of 50s-60s America. I can see me sitting there with a double scotch whiskey chilling out to that smooth trumpet playing with those African rhythms holding the music all together. Loved listening to this LP.
4/5
This second LP from this band is a solid group of songs with a big hit single in Wonderwall. A couple other good cuts too in Morning Glory and Champagne Supernova. I like the lead singers voice.
Leonard Cohen
3/5
This artist has written some great lyrics but I really have difficulty listening to his spoken word style a his voice tone on some songs. Mostly a dark and brooding album with Dress Rehearsal Rag beind most depressing. Famous Blue Raincoat and Joan of Arc are nice songs that he delivers better. Other artists recordings of his songs bring them new life.
Fatboy Slim
1/5
Over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over again and again and again and again and again and again and afain.............................................................................................................??? ????? ?????????? ? ???? ????????????? ???????? ?? ? ?????
Lucinda Williams
4/5
This a very good album with some well written songs and some nice guitar playing. I particularly liked Drunken Angel Can't Let Go and Jackson. A good LP to add to your collection.
Curtis Mayfield
5/5
A top rated soundtrack album from the 70s. This LP is filled with smooth RnB grooves. Freddie's Dead and Superfly lead the way on this iconic album
Guns N' Roses
5/5
What a great debut album by this iconic American hard rock band. The guitarist Slash is awesome and so is lead singer/frontman Axl Rose as well as the rest of the band. One of the best selling albums worldwide and worth every penny. Produced 5 singles and brought Rock n Roll back to life at the end of the 80s.
Radiohead
4/5
This album was good to listen to in the evening right before bedtime. I only wish You Tube Music could publish the lyrics along with the track listing. Smooth relaxing sounds with interesting lyrical content.
Oasis
3/5
This is a pretty good first LP. I particularly liked Rock n Roll Star n Supersonic. Too many songs sounding similar or they would earn another star.
Neil Young & Crazy Horse
5/5
Definitely one of his best albums ever. You can hear the grunge starting to come out on 2 tracks. Cowgirl in The Sand and Down by The River. Who was his Cinnamon girl around this time who he lost and sings about thru out the album. He goes from pining about her to shooting her down at the river. Great album!!
The Byrds
3/5
Not my favorite Byrds album but it has some good songs and innovative ones too. So you wanna be a rock n roll star is a classic. Renaissance Fair and Mind Gardens were innovative at the time.
Eminem
2/5
I can hear his development of his rapping style on a few of these songs but I really didn't care for any of the material.
Blur
4/5
I really liked this band. Several good songs. Music was good too. Remind me of the Kinks.
Carole King
5/5
This is one the great music albums of all time. Just fulled with great songs.
Country Joe & The Fish
5/5
This was an interesting listen and I'm sure it was a very early influence on the psychedelic sounds in Frisco n LA in the mid 60s. Love the guitar work. Atmospheric for it's time but with a raw sound at the same time.
Bruce Springsteen
5/5
The album that made him famous and it's a dynamite one. Jungleland is a street poem deluxe. Born to Run a rock n roll classic hit. Back Streets a glimpse of teecity life. Awesome LP.
Funkadelic
4/5
These songs had some great grooves on it. Funky rhythmic easy listening groove music.
4/5
One of the greatest country singers of all time. She really belts them out on this album.
The Killers
4/5
I liked this album the music is upbeat. Mr. Brightside is a catchy tune. The energy ebbs and flows from sing to song.
Harry Nilsson
3/5
This was a pretty good album in it's time but doesn't hold up too well today. But I still like to put the line in the coconut and drink it all up... 😆
Jungle Brothers
4/5
This album is groovin with the beats rhythms with good lyricism. Easy listening chill album or even to get the party started.
Britney Spears
4/5
Neil Young
5/5
A fine collection of songs highlighted by the classic Southern Man. Nice cover of Hank Williams Oh Lonesome Me. There's a bit of depressing feel to a few songs as Neal is feeling a love loss. The title track is atmospheric take on the attack on our planet's nature.
Os Mutantes
4/5
An interesting Brazilian band combining Brazilian music with psychedelic. Some interesting music although I have no idea what they are singing about.
Eels
4/5
Never heard of this album or group. That being said I found listening to it relaxing and melodic. I particularly liked Manchild.
3/5
Derek & The Dominos
4/5
A double LP with some great tracks on it Layla Bell Bottom Blues Nobody Knows You When You're Down n Out along with Key To The Highway. Duane Allman plays slide and lead guitar on some tracks with some really good picking. Didn't chart well but the critics really liked it.
The Sensational Alex Harvey Band
4/5
I heard of Alex Harvey but not familiar with his music at all. I was pleasantly surprised with the good Rock n Roll songs on it. He has some risqué baldy numbers typical of blues rockers. This would be a great album to play at parties.

4/5

Queen
4/5
Some great songs on this LP. Of course the rock anthem Bohemian Rhapsody but also You're My Best Friend and the klitchy I'm in Love With My Car also the lengthy The Prophet's Song. A little too much sniffle type music for me though.
John Lennon
4/5

2/5
Not my cup of tea.
Ghostface Killah
4/5
I actually liked some of the rap on here along with the skits.
The Rolling Stones
4/5
This album starts out strong with 2 of my favorites in the first 3 tracks. Paint it Black is excellent followed by Stupid Girl and the much underrated Lady Janr with it's moody mellow ron synth. Under My Thumb a Stones live classic rounds out the start of the album but it gets pretty bluesy boring after that.
Elvis Costello & The Attractions
3/5
There's a few good songs on here.
The Sabres Of Paradise
2/5
Repetitious
Nitty Gritty Dirt Band

My Bloody Valentine

Merle Haggard
4/5
A nice collection of road songs based on rebel life nonconformity and loss love.

Deerhunter
3/5
This album had some okay songs on it. Really don't know what the big fuss is about them though.
Patti Smith
5/5
I love the opening song which is the best version of Gloria IMO. Horses is another poetic masterpiece on the punk vein. Patti definitely set the tone for women on the punk rock poetry music form.
Germs
3/5
Almost made my didn't listen to list but made it to the 3rd track which I liked. Then did some historical background on them and this inspired me to give it a total listen out of curiosity and there minimalistic musical approach. The songs are very short like from back in the early years of rock n roll.
Dire Straits
5/5
An excellent classic rock album with guitar virtuoso Mark Knopfler at his best. Starts out with 3 solid tracks and finishes with the greatest comrades in arms sobg ever.

Beastie Boys
2/5
Some interesting songs. Not a fan and I know this wasn't their best release.
The Who
3/5
While listening to the 1st few songs I was thinking how bad The Who sounded even though it was recorded in mono. Of course My Generation and The Kids are Alright sounded very good. I started wondering if it was this album and these 2 songs that started them creating their classic masterpieces of music.
Jimmy Smith
4/5
This was an enjoyable listen as I've always loved the sax this one played by Stan Turrentine and the organ played by Jimmy Smith. The fusion of these instruments sounded both interesting n pleasing. The Hammond B-3 was legendary in the 60s. Somehow this album n Mr. Smith never made it to my listening booth. Very pleased to have discovered him now!!
The Stranglers
4/5
This was an interesting and enjoyable listen. This debut album has impressed me enough to follow up on sequential releases. I enjoyed their punk style music along with some quirky lyrics.
Stereo MC's
3/5
This was an enjoyable listen grooves n rhythms thru out. Other than pop music and hair metal my knowledge of 80s music is limited particularly from England. Another group to delve into further from across the h e pond.
Sam Cooke
4/5
This is a great live album. Feels like you're right there in the club with him. Quality is mediocre but that's because of technology of the times. Short set but full of soul and energy.

Some great vocal gymnastics on this album. Beautiful of course is a masterpiece!! Christina has one of the most powerful and diverse vocals ever.
N.E.R.D

Deep Purple
Kacey Musgraves
3/5
She has a nice voice. Sweet but powerful. Definitely a chick album. Has some well written songs on it.
The Jam
3/5
Elbow
4/5
This British group was a very interesting listen. Filled with lush sounds that were big almost orchestral at times. Another British band to delve deeper into. I don't know why this group didn't gather some chart attention here in America. They were very successful in England.
Jimi Hendrix
5/5
What a fantastic sound experience this debut album was back in 1968. Not only were the Experience astounding musicians but Hendrix was a frontrunner in the recording process. Fantastic album with classic songs and jams. Voodoo Chile and All Along The Watchtower standout.
Sarah Vaughan
4/5
I enjoyed listening to this old school jazz. Miss Vaughn has a remarkable voice and is very much overlooked.
Ryan Adams
3/5
This was not what I expected considering all the hype about this artist when he came out. He has a good voice but too many songs sounded the same as far as the vocal delivery. Will have to listen ti another album he released.
David Bowie
4/5
The first of Bowie's Berlin Trilogy and probably his best collaboration with Brian Eno. Has the now huge hit Heroes and some nice instrumental songs. Musically very interesting lyrically minimalistic.
Peter Gabriel
5/5
An excellent album with track after track of beautiful instrumentation. Don't give up features the wonderfully talented Kate Bush on vocals. The ecology song of Red Rain the playfulness of Sledgehammer opening the album. Big Time in the middle and the romantic In Your Eyes rounding it out. One of his best.
Bruce Springsteen
5/5
A fantastic album of folkiness and personal story. At the time and huge departure from his albums with the E Street Band. Dark depressing well written. Stark in it's musical nature. It was a sign of future creative albums along this genre but never matched.
Stereolab
3/5
This was a nice listen very relaxing. Reminds me of late night driving home music or what they call elevstor music. Lead singer has a nice voice.
Eagles
5/5
A classic rock album. One of the best of all time. A classic rock anthem song with the title track. My favorite track Life in The Fast Lane along with some pretty ans some sad ballads. With the addition of Joe Walsh who brought an edgy and upbeat rock sound with his great guitar playing and some good songwriting.
Gorillaz
3/5
This was a diversified album with nice beats rhythms and grooves. Pretty good for a 1st LP. Not my kind of music but it was surprisingly easy listening.
Bebel Gilberto
4/5
I enjoyed this listening to this album bring a fan of bosa nova. Rebel has a pleasant voice and the music was cool and hip.
David Bowie
5/5
A pleasing musical and lyrical soundscape with dark undertones. Collaboration with Brian Eno with Iggy Pop lyrical influences and the 1st album in the Berlin Trilogy. Very listenable and great piece of art deco style of the 70s.
Todd Rundgren
4/5
Interesting psychedelic concept album. Very kool sound bites and backgrounds. Todd has a better voice then I remembered. Liked the oldies medley. Last song sounds like an Eagles cheer support song.
Joni Mitchell
4/5
An excellent follow up to Court n Spark. Musically adventurous but not as popular but still reached 4th in the Billboard album charts. Filled with reflective memories and feminist viewpoints.
Drive Like Jehu
2/5
Definitely not my genre of music. Too repetitive musically n lyrically. I did find the songs at the end interesting Sinews Hand Over Fist and Bullet Train to Vegas.
Booker T. & The MG's
3/5
Anthrax
3/5
This album started out repetitive and uninteresting but finished strong with some great drumming better lyrics and guitar work.
The Only Ones
3/5
This was an interesting album to listen to. I'm surprised they didn't land higher in the charts. With only 3 studios releases I guess they were limited musical wise and couldn't breakout of punk style music.
Radiohead
4/5
This was an enjoyable listening experience while I relaxed in bed. Pretty depressing music for the most part. It's the best time to listen to this one. Will put you to sleep in a nutshell. But don't wait til the last song with the blaring horns.
Radiohead
1/5
This album was not very interesting.
Metallica
5/5
Could easily be the best album of the 90s. This album brought rock back to life for me after the land of the lost 80s. After watching the video Enter Sandman on MTV I bought the album then backtracked before the release of Load. What this album offers is what the band was and where they were heading over the next 3 or 4 releases.
George Harrison
4/5
This album could of been very good if he just made it a double LP release instead of a triple. Some excellent songs on here but the third LP is very bare compared to the other 2. My Sweet Lord is excellent! Isn't It A Pity along with All Things must Pass are good compositions. Nice cover of If Not For You by Dylan.
Neil Young
5/5
This album makes my top 10 of all time. Listened to this in my mid teens and these songs really hit home to my heart. Adding orchestration to a few songs make the tracks flow into one another seamlessly and keep it diversly interesting. Heart of Gold I sang at karaoke as a duet. Great LP.
Maxwell
4/5
This was a relaxing enjoyable listen. Great vocals by Maxwell instrumentation is excellent. Love the sax work. Great LP for a relaxing romantic night with a loved one.
The Smiths
4/5
I like there music it's thought provoking but not in a disturbing way. The musical instrumentation is very good mellow which gives the song lyrics a surrealistic backdrop. Will listen to more if their albums in the future.
Otis Redding
3/5
One of the best early soul blues singer's doing some classic songs from the era.
Pere Ubu
2/5
Interesting listen a little different from other punk bands of that era.
Rush
4/5
This album has a great concept to it that really appealed to the youth in the 70s. I found listening to the instrumentation to be exhilarating. I was never a fan of Neal Peart's voice but it improves after thus album. They showed great courage to stick with their musical concepts despite pressure from their record company to change it.
Kraftwerk
5/5
A group and album ahead of it's time. Both innovative and musically appealing. Driving home at midnight was never better with their wonderfully simplistic approach to making music.
5/5
This is an excellent album. Side one is timeless. This is the only 80s album I listened to on repeat. I like how they created a bigger luster sound then previous albums. I'm sure Lanois n Eno helped here. I Still Haven't Found What I'm Looking For......
Louis Prima
3/5
This brought back early memories of a slew of Italian/American singers. Although Louis was one of the earliest with deep roots founded in New Orleans jazz. An interesting listen.
2Pac
2/5
Did not find much to interest me here. It is well recorded and produced. Didn't care for his rap rhythm or his beats.
Rage Against The Machine
2/5
They picked a good band title. A couple decent songs some interesting drum n guitar work. Lead singer has some potential to be a real rock singer.
Al Green
3/5
This album has a great single as an opening track. A couple other good songs but the rest is meh.
M.I.A.
3/5
I enjoyed several songs on this album. She has a very pleading voice and localization style. The cuts I recommend are Bucky Done Gun Fure Fire a10 Dollar Galang Galang. Pretty impressive for a first release.
Bruce Springsteen
2/5
I think this album is very over rated. It's the same theme song after song about lost love. It's a shadow of previously released albums with the E Street Band. Very disappointing.
Wu-Tang Clan
1/5
This music is so targeted to a certain group of people in our society and is not even good.
Cat Stevens
5/5
What an incredible album of songs inspiring hope and change. A great pop/folk song album. With several excellent song choices.
John Lennon
5/5
I was 15 when I bought this album and played it almost everyday. It helped me get through a difficult time in my life. I shared many of John's personal feelings and thoughts about life on this album. I will rate it much higher than most people for these reasons.
Beatles
5/5
What a great collection of pop songs. A great transition album from the previous 2. All songs written by Lennon-McCartney. They would go on to bigger and more adventurous musical interludes.
Pantera
2/5
These heavy metal groups sound very similar with an exception of 3 or 4. Not impressed with Pantera.
Ozomatli
4/5
I really enjoyed this first time listen to Ozomatli. I love the mix of songs ranging from pop rap and Latin music themes. The added socio-political lyrics add depth and substance to their music. One song rapping defiance the next song ready to get up and dance-party.
Supergrass
2/5
They had a couple good songs on here. Nice sounds.
The Stooges
4/5
Somehow the Stooges and Iggy didn't make it onto my radar in my teenage years. Listening to them in retrospect I can feel the that basic rock n roll groove. Their guitarist sounds very good and of course Iggy is a great frontman. Way before their time and influential on that mid-late 70s punk rock scene in New York and London.
Orbital
4/5
I enjoyed listening to this group while commuting o the train. Some songs have that Autobahn feel to them. It was also a pleasure listening to it at home relaxing.
Everything But The Girl
4/5
I found this album surprisingly good but lacking in the variety department. It was a nice listen on a Sunday afternoon. She has a nice voice vert relaxing.
Fiona Apple
4/5
I very much enjoyed listening to this album. Fiona Apple is an exceptional songwriter both lyrically and in song structure. My favorite track was Like Honey. I'm really surprised she has only released 5 albums.
Lightning Bolt
1/5
This album was just annoying. Don't listen to it while you are relaxing. They sound more like a dead bolt.
Justice
2/5
A decent LP for a an electronic dance album. I particularly like the finishing tracks.
Sade
4/5
What a beautiful she has and a unique vocal styling. Never knew that Sade was actually a group.
Simon & Garfunkel
4/5
Although this is a solid effort by the duo side 2 has previously recorded material. Despite that Mrs. Robinson reached #1. Smooth harmonies and melodic sound track.
The Young Gods
3/5
I liked the energy of this music. It was both interesting and relaxing at the same time. Being in French I couldn't understand the lyrics of course. But the singers voice was smooth and emotional.
Moby
4/5
Interesting album with some awesome arrangements and vocalizations.
Bob Dylan
5/5
A great album from the master of words.
Adam & The Ants
2/5
I didn't find this very interesting but I did find it very long.
Siouxsie And The Banshees
3/5
This was some good rock n roll music with some campiness to it. Siouxsie has a string rock voice and professional band behind her.
Nick Cave & The Bad Seeds
4/5
This was my first album listen from these artists and found them to have musical diversity. Interesting enough to explore earlier releases this being their 13th studio album.
Creedence Clearwater Revival
3/5
This is a decent 2nd album highlighted by the cover of Proud Mary and the original Born On The Bayou. This album was a sign of great things to come.
Buena Vista Social Club
3/5
This was a nice listen. I enjoyed the variety of moods I experienced listening to the ballads, love songs and rhythmic dance numbers. It took me back in time to the 90s when I was hanging out with Tony and Maria.
John Coltrane
5/5
The master of the saxophone blowing out sheets of spiritual enlightenment. A must listen to broaden your horizons and to nourish your heart. ❤️
Marvin Gaye
5/5
What a great album of songs leading seamlessly from one to another. An album that captures the times through its beautiful rhythyms reaching out through the sadness but hopeful conditions of 1970 America. Marvin Gaye is one of America's thoughtful and creative musical geniuses. ❤️
The Cult
4/5
This is my 1st full album by The Cult and I am impressed. Good rock n roll. Guitar player is good. Well written songs and tight playing. Will have to explore more of their LPs.
Tricky
4/5
This was a diverse interesting album and a 1st listen of Tricky for me. The female vocalist has a nice smooth delivery and I enjoyed the mostly relaxing nature of the album. Some good rap hip hop and pop tracks.
Richard Hawley
5/5
Well this man certainly flew under my radar. Some well written songs on this album. Relaxing thought provoking lyrics with great accompaniment. Will be listening more to Richard Hawley who shares his name with my brother's friend.
Marty Robbins
4/5
Some very enjoyable ballads of the old west. Marty has a very likable voice tone. With a good backup band and singers. Brings back memories of my late brother who passed on the 5th of this month.
Terence Trent D'Arby
4/5
A solid debut album from this artist. Thoughtful provocative and heartfelt lyrics lead the way. Not surprised that this album did very well throughout the world.
Lenny Kravitz
3/5
A solid debut effort by Lenny. A Kool mix of pop blues and rock. I like Lisa a little better though. LOL.
5/5
Thos is a great album with many hit songs and rock classics. What makes this album special is that it's the total package of concept lyricism musicianship engineering and arrangement of songs. Bowie's masterpiece!!
3/5
I have heard of this band but never listened to a full album. Interesting that their debut album is a live one. Some good hard rock and bluesy numbers. Particularly liked Starship and there is some good guitar playing throughout the set.
The Stooges
4/5
I really like this album. It's ahead of It's time. Great guitar work. You can hear The Doors influence on a couple songs.
The Rolling Stones
4/5
A very good album by the Stones. Too big hits and several more interesting bluesy numbers. Charlie's drumming is superb and the backing vocals with the repetitive are original and seem to go on n on. Great vocals by Mick.
R.E.M.
4/5
They have a unique sound on this LP which they created on their previous release. Musical depth and instrument variation delicer a open sonic sound. 4 solid songs defining future musical directions
Emerson, Lake & Palmer
5/5
This was an adventurous album in it's day and ELP were a true super group. Emerson is the best keyboardist in my opinion. Lake a guitar virtuoso and Palmer a fantastic drummer. Hardly any vocals on these tracks of beautiful and emotional music.
Johnny Cash
5/5
An excellent last album from an American icon who always stood up for and eased the burden of society's unfortunatem. Surprised how good his voice is considering his age and health condition. Some of my all time sad songs on here. God Bless Johnny Cash!!
A Tribe Called Quest
3/5
I like the rhythm and beats on this album. Definitely some kool grooves and upbeat tempos.
Robert Wyatt
3/5
Opening track is awesome. Some nice work on here making it a relaxing listen like those early 70s Canterbury prog rock groups.
Julian Cope
3/5
An interesting listen that deserves further album looking into.
Boston
5/5
This could be the best debut album ever. It rocks from start to finish. Excellent quality musicianship engineering and production. This is still my "it's summer album". Brad Delp has one of the least talked about rock voices and deserves more notice.
Amy Winehouse
3/5
This was a pretty good debut effort. You can hear that bluesy potential in her voice. We lost a potential superstar way before her time.
Radiohead
4/5
This is a very good album. It just goes by so fast one song after another well played produced and sung.
Led Zeppelin
5/5
One of the greatest debut albums of all time not only for the musicianship and vocal delivery of the band. But for the fact they did it on their own without the need of a record company and got a recording contract from it and then international fame. Most songs on the album are or influenced by some great blues musicians resulting of listeners delving into these blues musicians catalogs.
Bruce Springsteen
3/5
Some good songs on here but man is this album depressing. The E Streeters get to shine a little more but that gloominrss pervades throughout the album.
The Damned
3/5
A solid 3rd album release from a very underrated punk rock band. I really like their wild driven sound.
The Beta Band
3/5
This was a relaxing listen noting their various influencers.
Mekons
3/5
This was a relaxing listen looking forward to listening to their others.
The Stone Roses
4/5
Some interesting songs here that make this album innovative in it's time. Another band for future album listening.
Wire
3/5
A good debut album with that 3 chord punk sound but with the hint of sonic sound lushiness.
Big Brother & The Holding Company
4/5
This is a surprisingly good album that shows how really good Big Brother & The Holding Company were. Janis really hits it on some cuts like Ball n Chain plus Summertime. The bonus tracks are not really a bonus they sound just okay at best.
Jimi Hendrix
4/5
A strong sophomore effort by The Experience. Some really good rhythm and blues numbers. A space song opener. Great playing and engineering by all.
Pixies
3/5
A diverse musical approach of power driven music and minimalistic lyrical notings.
