Reviews (page 8 of 8)

Here we go again, more psychedelic stuff from the early seventies. On scale of ANNOYINGNESS this scores very high. Big Sigh. Sorry hawkwind, I getting on with my life now

Fuck that space shit

It’s really almost a perfect album.

This was terrible. Psychedelic jam band with a mixture is slam poetry. 🤮

Please what is this and why do I feel like I need to be high on every drug to understand what is going on

Utter insanity. I guess the drugs helped.

Nope, nope, nope. I need a break from the obscure UK bands

Que decir. No me gusta esta música. Marca mucho la época setentosa. Ni

Boring

Did not like

I had to tap out on this one.

It’s a no. I was not on acid when listening to this but I felt like I was on a horrible trip. Far too long. Nil point. Well, one good star. They obviously know how to play their instruments.

Would sound better in Dobly.

Livealbum

what the fuck???

Wtf was this?

Hate it

Didn't see why it's one of the best ever... Just typical drug rock of the era with too many interludes and spacey music. Wasn't a fan. I feel people just rate these albums highly due to it being what they grew up to and it's more nostalgia moments than the music itself

Pretentious pricks

This was if prog rock got drunk and tried to be something it’s not. This was way too long. This was way too weird. This was way too boring. But it was perfectly abysmal. Why oh why are some of these albums on here. 2.3/10

Ummm it was a thing. It was not my thing.

Nope. I do not like live albums. This is a good reason why. Every song that I mustered the energy to listen to was not good. The first song is almost twice as long live then the studio version. Very Jam band vibes. Definitely would not be listening to again.

hated it

Strafpunt voor de lengte.

Unless you have taken a mind bending amount of LSD this gets tiresome pretty quickly

Fuck no.

I can think of a handful of things more painful than a two hour live space-rock jam album, but they all involve the desecration of my genitalia. 0 stars?

I don't enjoy 'live' albums

Von Haus aus sollte ich das eigentlich mögen, tatsächlich habe ich gerade überhaupt keinen Nerv drauf

I’ve tried to get into Hawkwind a couple of times now but just can’t. I know they’re hallowed in some circles and are like the Grateful Dead of the prog world but it just does not click for me at all

My heart sank when I saw this was a live album, a double album, and an album filled with psychedelic space rock. Aka three things that can really turn a record into something unlistenable, which Hawkwind does flawlessly over the course of two unbearable hours. Congratulations! I hated this album.

IDK dude. I mostly hated it. 1 star.

Having to sit through an entire Hawkwind concert. Played mostly on skip what I heard was repetitive and weird. Definitely not for me

What a strange experience that was, first time listener to Hawkwind and I don't think I'll be going back anytime soon. What has this got to do with pop music, oy vey. Still if you are going to do it you might as well kick off your Hawkwind debut with a double live album, as only the 70's could deliver. Yes you read it right Paul Auster fans...a double live album from the early 1970's, it should have a health warning on the front. But wait there's more....the remastered edition goes for 132 minutes, if you wanted your enemies to spill state secrets you'd just wave the cover in their face, "that's right...the extended version..talk!" I've got a funny feeling a hell of a lot of Camberwell carrots went into the planning for this, and I'd strongly suggest that if you listen to this enough times, the wafting stench of a couple of thousand Camberwells will eventually come through. Having said that, thinking about the purpose of this exercise, maybe sparking up a Camberwell while listening to this just might be the right way to push up the daisies. Clearly this drove the Lemster to getting on with doing some serious arse kicking. Other than that can I say: fucking hippies.

Embarrassing. Self indulgent pap proving bad music can be made in every period.

Listenable.

I tried to listen to this twice and couldn't make it half way. A double live album by a mediocre band has no business on this list. Have Hawkwind no decent studio albums they could have included instead?

"Down Through the Night" had a catchy riff that repeated endlessly. However, this album should have been titled, "Wish We Were King Crimson".

What kind of psychedelic nonsense is this? Booooooo.

Not available in Canada

Hippy shit

Terrifying

Super monotonous rock. No melodies and just wild banging on the drums. I really don't like it.

Weird as shit Another space concept album from the 1970s Would like to hear the non live original album. Psychedelic acid trip that I didn't want. Thanks Spoken word poem about orgasms a highlight...until he started shouting at me. Now I'm just scared

Har egentligen aldrig hört Hawkwind, men anar att detta inte är den starkaste plattan. Den mest motbjudande lyssningen hittills tyvärr.

No thank you

Alright i’m going to try my best to get through a couple more songs…no chance I listen to 2 hours of this. Not a fan

This can’t be a real band

I could go on and on about all the reasons I dislike this album, but I’ve spent too long listening to it already and I just don’t want to think about it anymore. Hate live albums. 1/5

I couldn’t get myself to finish this one, having gotten distracted, losing my progress, and not wanting to restart it. Never heard of the artist or the album. It’s not bad in an obvious way or even all that boring, it’s just too long.

Weird as shit 3/10

OK, here’s another genre of rock music I didn’t know: space rock. A few chords over a repetitive bass, aggressive drumming, background electronic “space” sounds… hypnotizing in its way, but I get the feeling it sounds better when high… not for me, sorry.

Live album

Took about 10 seconds to realize this album wasn't for me and i was regretting my commitment to listen to every note of every album on this list. I could have given it two stars if it was only an hour long, but someone decided this deserved a double album and 2 hours and 15 minutes of length. I will say that Down Through the Night was a glimmer of interest, but the rest is pointless noodling dreck.

This album is close to 2 hours which is way too long for an album. The songs themselves are not that good either. There were some good parts of the music but those were overextended and the lyrics were crap. Some of the music was just weird too. I started skipping songs. It is better than a one not really a two. I will round down.

Life's too short to listen to this. I did however skip to Orgone Accumulator out of curiosity. The Pop Will Eat Itself cover pisses all over this.

Yesterday's album was a boring and repetitive effort. So I gave it one star and was looking forward to today's effort. When I saw what it was I had low expectations. They weren't met. I kept falling asleep but it sounded like the same song. 21 times! 1001 Alvin's has thrown up some wonderful surprises - PJ Harvey, 1 Eno album, Keith Jarrett, among others. But it has also introduced me to acts that were so unlistenable it defies logic that they made money.

Way too long for some unremarkable 70s stoner rock

I tried it twice but the quality was bad and also I am not a big fan of live albums. And then the music was too weird for me..

a concert album? no

Hawkward.

2nd March 2022 Listened in the day in the office and on the way to book club at Elliott’s. I don’t. Like. Prog. Rock. Don’t get it.

I'm 2 songs in, and if this doesn't get better, not sure I can make it through the remaining 19 songs... I think I need more LSD for this album. Now 5 songs in - I just can't. The looping effects and screeching make this album un-listenable for me. I shudder to think what the remaining 16 songs have to hold.

not enjoyable in the slightest

Not my thing

Terrible. I'm not listening to this. First 4 tracks were more than enough.

I imagine everyone at this concert was high as a kite. Just typical bad sounding 70s metal. 3/10.

Tried getting into this but could not.

Crummy hippie space junk. It fucking sucks and I hate everything about it.

I expected to at least like this, but it's more jazz with metal.

What a load of rubbish!

Had to turn it off 2 songs in, yikes. Really not my thing - a super jammy Phish like band but more metal sounding

Two strikes before I even started listening to this albums: 1) it's two hours long and 2) it's a live album. Uh oh. The best part was when it was over.

I imagine this is some people's idea of an amazing, legendary album. I get that, but it's not mine.

No thanks

Nothing standing out for me here. Only really like live albums if I know the band and their songs.

Space, psychedelic, whatever. 0% my thing. Sorry Hawkwind.

not my vibe :/
