Neil Young
3/5
Decent album. Heart of Gold and Words are classics of course, but what really stole the show for me was A Man Needs A Maid. Genuinely hilarious and almost anachronistic, a goofily serious juxtaposition against Neil's voice.
The Flaming Lips
4/5
Very interesting and personable psychedelia. It feels like this album probably influenced a lot of the more modern groups I'm more well versed in. Very approachable and enjoyable, honestly sorta feels like Duncan Trussell in a way.
Elbow
3/5
Indie Lewis Del Mar with a side of Coldplay
4/5
A landmark album for a reason, laid the groundwork for a ton of different acts across the eventual rock/indie/psychedelic landscape. Even now it still sounds like a modern album, and you can tell groups like Tame Impala take a lot of their influence from this sound
Fela Kuti
3/5
Cowboy Bebop in Africa!
Ray Charles
3/5
Good classic easy listening music, great for the background
Elliott Smith
3/5
Nice ethereal background indie
Blur
4/5
Having only known 'song 2', this very long album was also surprisingly wide ranging as well, spanning quite the variety of sonic textures. Most often though, I got hints of Gorillaz
Yes
3/5
A solid classic album, but does not catch my ear particularly, it all sorta runs together for me

3/5
For the consistency of their sound, a surprisingly diverse range on the album. The final song is a very modern sounding banger
Orbital
4/5
Experimental in a genuinely engaging and interesting way. Can see how this set the tone for a massive portion of modern electronic music, well worth a re-listen
Jacques Brel
4/5
An interesting and engaging, almost conversational feeling classical performance
Beastie Boys
3/5
Always have had a love hate relationship with the beastie boys, but aside from a few standouts, the album on the whole was a lot less cheesey than I expected. Not bad

3/5

Isaac Hayes

Leonard Cohen
3/5
Enjoyable and unique, Leonard's voice contributes a cool niche sound, but it would be nice to see some more variety in his delivery and less of a one-trick-pony approach
Queen
