Popular Reviews

Grace by Jeff Buckley

Wow, wow, wow. This is one of those albums I’ve seen everywhere but never heard. I’m glad I have now- this has heart, is cohesive, and gorgeous. In the musical Hadestown, the mythical Orpheus has a singing voice so beautiful it can sway the God of the Dead, and is written to sound a lot like the vocal performances here. I have to assume that’s intentional.

25 by Adele
Oct 27 2025

Great music for mourning a relationship at Barnes and Noble.

Blonde On Blonde by Bob Dylan
Oct 29 2025

Bob Dylan doesn’t do much for me as a singer or lyricist but the instrumentals here really carried the experience.

Dire Straits by Dire Straits
Oct 30 2025

The performances were solid and consistent, and the album overall had a really cool sound. I’m just not sure it was for me or something I’m going to seek out in the future.

Nov 01 2025

It’s amazing how many of the tracks on here are played on the classic rock stations daily. They’re good but not my cup of tea.

Spiderland by Slint
Nov 02 2025

I appreciate how this may have inspired a lot of music I listen to now, but by the mid-point, I said out loud, “we get it!!”

Kilimanjaro by The Teardrop Explodes
Nov 05 2025

Enjoyed this one thoroughly, and it was added to my regular rotation.

Queen Of Denmark by John Grant
Nov 06 2025

I liked some of these tracks for being goofy and the nice instrumentation. Can’t stand that album cover, though.

Signing Off by UB40
Nov 07 2025

Solid reggae but not my cup of tea.

Vol. 4 by Black Sabbath
Nov 08 2025

I didn’t realize how much I like Black Sabbath until now. It’s fun that on some of the tracks, Ozzy sounds like he’s on the other side of the room from the mic. RIP Ozzy.

Exodus by Bob Marley & The Wailers
Nov 09 2025

Good, still just not for me.

In It For The Money by Supergrass
Nov 10 2025

I suspect that if I discovered them as a teenager, I’d love this band. This just isn’t the right time, and there isn’t anything exceptional here for me.

Nov 11 2025

This album was the epitome of cool when I was a kid, so I still get a kick out of it. It does lose steam a bit in the second half, though.

Midnight Ride by Paul Revere & The Raiders
Nov 12 2025

Some of these tracks felt delightfully edgy for the overall teeny-bopper sound, so I can see how this influenced later rock groups.

Grace by Jeff Buckley
Nov 13 2025

Wow, wow, wow. This is one of those albums I’ve seen everywhere but never heard. I’m glad I have now- this has heart, is cohesive, and gorgeous. Autobahn by Kraftwerk
Nov 14 2025

This one is so influential and I have a lot of great memories listening to it in 8th grade German class, but it’s still a decently challenging album to just sit down and listen to.

Hounds Of Love by Kate Bush
Nov 16 2025

I’ve already been a fan of this album and Kate Bush’s brand of dreamy, literature-inspired pop. It was nice to give this one a listen again.

Figure 8 by Elliott Smith
Nov 17 2025

It’s pretty enough but really could only be good background music for me.

Rust Never Sleeps by Neil Young & Crazy Horse
Nov 18 2025

There’s some really great lyrics on this one with a lot of very important social issues to this day.

Station To Station by David Bowie
Nov 19 2025

RIP Bowie, this one was short and to the point with a great sound.

Hysteria by Def Leppard
Nov 20 2025

A lot of particularly great tracks on this one, and they could never make me hate arena rock. Some of the garbled samples weren’t my favorite thing to listen to, though.

The Grand Tour by George Jones
Nov 21 2025

Some perfectly pleasant love ballads here, but it felt pretty one note.

Catch A Fire by Bob Marley & The Wailers
Nov 22 2025

I liked this one better than the last Bob Marley album that came up. I am struck by how much I enjoy his lyrics and composition, though it’s still not something I’m going to seek out regularly.

Hearts And Bones by Paul Simon
Nov 23 2025

I pretty deeply did not enjoy this one, though there’s nothing innately wrong with it. It’s possible Paul Simon’s voice and lyrics just rub me the wrong way.

The Rise & Fall by Madness
Nov 24 2025

There were a lot of cool experimental sounds on this, but I don’t expect to revisit it often.

Five Leaves Left by Nick Drake
Nov 25 2025

This album had a very pleasant sound, just didn’t blow me away with anything.

To Pimp A Butterfly by Kendrick Lamar
Nov 26 2025

Of the albums I’ve listened to so far, I think Kendrick’s the performer I’d most consider an artist. He has such a clear vision and point of view, and this was a really intriguing listen. I particularly enjoyed some of the references he made, like the interpolation of “Jump Around” about suicidal ideation.

White Blood Cells by The White Stripes
Nov 27 2025

They could never make me hate you, The White Stripes, but this album probably could have had several tracks removed. It is an excellent garage rock record overall, though, and it does experiment with a range of sounds I enjoyed.

Rubber Soul by Beatles
Nov 28 2025

Although I don't detest this era of the Beatles the way I do later albums, I would still rather be listening to the Monkees or, frankly, The Beach Boys. Has a band ever used more annoying repetition?

Green River by Creedence Clearwater Revival
Nov 29 2025
Electric by The Cult
Nov 30 2025

This felt like a perfectly enjoyable rock album, but I’m unsure on what about it necessitated its placement on this list. I’d consider it a cool find if I discovered it organically, but there’s nothing on here that Kiss or a similar band weren’t doing a good decade prior.

Made In Japan by Deep Purple
Dec 05 2025

Easily one of the better live albums I’ve ever heard- they sounded great here and the entire recording had excellent energy.

Dec 07 2025

My favorite music genre is ordinarily the type of alt rock that serves as the soundtrack of craft breweries. For an album with such an audacious title, this was incredibly mid and the vocals were grating.
