Maybe I'm not intellectual enough or artsy enough to understand Bjork. She has a good voice, don't get me wrong. But that voice is only good when she tries. Bjork maintains a very wispy type of singing voice throughout the record. Definitely not something I'm into.
To quote Ebert, I hated, hated, hated this [album]. I gave up halfway through. Obnoxious instrumentals, obnoxious voice.

I am really not a fan of Bjork music.
This is the most awful, whiny, waffle music I’ve ever heard. It’s like a seal became a woman and starting “oh-oh”-ing over a badly put together track on garage band.
I mean this didn't offend me but just didn't get it and as far as I am concerned, not very good.
Imagine if you gave the weird girl in school a recording device and left her alone for an hour. This is what you’d hear.
I can appreciate the lo-fi electronic beats, but it’d take a lot for my to start spinning Bjork frequently.

I guess that swan was wrapped too tightly around her neck. I'm sure that she was trying for ethereal in these songs, but it ended up just sounding monotonous and like a drunken voicemail from an ex.

I think Björk is the reason we have so many airy breathy female artists today and I’ll never forgive her for it.

Just cant get into Bjork
I just do not get Björk. It is just not my thing in anyway.
1. Hidden Place: Goes on too long for me with too little variation in musical elements or lyrics. 2. Cocoon: I can't really get into it... 9. Sun in My Mouth: I think because I can't distinguish different moods between tracks, I can't identify any themes or feelings that I connect with.
Listened to on 4/4/22 1/5 Favorite song: no I didn’t like a single thing about this album and would love to never hear it again - the weird noises and electronic pop was just not it
4/4/22 This album is the musical equivalent to me looking at some random object in a modern art museum and trying to figure out how this is art. I would like the album much more if I could take her vocals out because the actual sound itself is very chill-hop/rhythmic relaxing vibes. She just a bit too out there for me. I had to skip multiple songs because I just couldn’t do it. This album gave me a headache. I bet this album is amazing if you’re high Favorite song: Hidden Place

Was listening to this one in my car with my daughter. I think my review will just quote her: "Dad, you could've died without listening to this album." Hard agree, it was terrible. I just don't get Björk
Too experimental for my tastes. Very difficult to get through. Absolutely hated some songs, the others were mediocre at most. Honestly, didn't think I would dislike it as much as I did.
There are no redeeming qualities to this album. It is awful. Do not listen.

There aren't many small country representations on this list. Unfortunately if we were to celebrate each small countries music this list would be huge. I did find some songs amusing but in general many songs blend together. Does this really need to be on this list?

Ich setze mich jedes Mal aufs Neue hin und bin gewillt, meine jugendliche Meinung über the world‘s most overrated artist über Bord zu werfen, aber dann ist’s was es ist: ätherisch im Sinne von, dass nix, kein Fitzelchen, nada haften bleibt, außer beliebig/artistisch in den Himmel geschossene Vocal Nebelkerzen, die über einem sanft gekräuselten Ozean aus generischer Elektronica vor sich hin schillern. El fenómeno Björk siempre me pareció algo más relacionado con la estética de las artes plásticas que con la música. Escucho este disco y me reafirmo en mi impresión, lo que más me gusta es la portada.

I find this whole album just impenetrable. I don’t really get who it’s for, is it for dancing or singing or just to make you feel like you don’t understand what music is?

Wasn’t a fan. It sounded like the artist was very close to something special here, but none of the songs quite found their footing. I may never listen to this album again

Love that back and forth that Chuck and Flava have. Chuck's rhyming style and voice are immediately recognisable. The tracks definitely aren't sparse, not that that's an issue. It serves to reinforce the social commentary. Love the bass on 911 is a joke.
