Reviews (page 8 of 9)

I realized something after having high hopes for this album, especially since I gave 2/5 to Björk’s self-titled first studio album—I don’t actually like her music. I don’t get the hype. I usually enjoy experimental electronic music with a weird twist, but this just doesn’t do it for me. Maybe it’s my inability to connect with her songs or find any meaning or beauty in them, but everything just feels so flat to me.

Boring

Bjork is annoying

This is the second of her albums that I've heard here. I've heard plenty more elsewhere, but I just can't get into it.

Creative but annoying

Strange but that's to be expected. Not unenjoyable but didn't love the vocals. Fav Track: Pagan Poetry

Strange, much like some of her other work I’ve heard on this list. Appreciate her to an extent, but still just not for me. 2/5 Won’t listen again

Not as good as bjork's first album, and grates the ears after a while. Not harmonious at all.

I like some Björk but jeez, I simply didn't get on with this at all.

Bjork is interesting but not something I'd revisit.

So weird

Took a look at global reviews— people seem divided on her music. In my humble opinion, she's trying to create an avant-garde, misunderstood artist persona, when reality, it's an attempt to cover up her lack of talent (her work suffers nonetheless.)

2.5 There’s a lot of really cool instrumentation and production going on with this album, but for the most part, this just didn’t really speak to me. In fact, I found myself growing bored during my listen, which is apparently sacrilege given what people have to say about this album online - I’ve seen people describe it as having moved them to tears, redefined love, changed what music could be, and hell, it’s even the 20th highest rated album on rateyourmusic.com. Sorry, just not getting it. I mean, I can definitely see what would draw people to it and can acknowledge there’s quite a bit of musical ambition to be found here, but it’s not really imparting much upon me other than a passing “Neat.” Part of me wonders if I’m just listening in the wrong season - the wintery vibes here are very strong. For an album mostly about love and sex, I felt more prompted to go out and make a snowman. I digress, not overly impressed, but willing to acknowledge that’s probably just a me thing.

Never did “get” a Bjork. Guess I still don’t.

I was definitely waiting for this one to be over. None of these songs drew me in at all. They all sound very similar and that sound doesn't do it for me. It's minimalist ethereal-pop backing with Björk singing, and that's a little boring. It wasn't bad, but it was too long and boring enough for me that I've got to give it a 4/10.

This album makes me sleepy and annoyed at the same time. I appreciate it for what it is, but i dont like this type of art.

Id probably like it more once I knew it, but I can't get there.

I have been trying to like Björk for decades but she just sounds like the LP is randomly going at the wrong speed, and overall either soporific like this album or too discordant for my taste. This would probably be a 2.5 as there were one or two songs I might revisit later, but not my cup of tea.

Never listed to this (or any Bjork album) before. It sounds like there's a lot of depth here but it's hard to get into with on the first listen. Bjork's vocal style isn't really for me either, which makes it challenging.

Still not a fan of her vocal performance. But I liked this album more than the sugar cubes.

Bjork will always be one of those artists I just cannot get into. Much like Die Antwoord, the music does nothing for me and I feel like I'm just not getting it. However, I did find this album a little more listenable than I thought I would. Pagan Poetry wasnt bad and Hidden Place was about the same, but they couldnt save the whole album for me.

https://youtu.be/khM0EIAFbFI?feature=shared

Some good compositions, but Bjork’s singing distracts from the music. This is the third or fourth album I’ve listened to and overall just can’t enjoy them. 2/5.

Not a big fan of bjorks whiney vocals...but the arrangements and tunes were pretty good. 1.5 but I'll give a generous 2

Hidden Place Cocoon Pagan Poetry Sun In My Mouth

too weird

Björk still not doing it for me. I found this to be incredibly boring and annoying. Whispering in my ear for about an hour.

Bjork’s sound just really is not for me. Thought this droned on a bit

I joined this journey hoping to expose myself to some new music choices. THIS IS NOT IT!

I don't know about this. Really liked the Sugarcubes, but find it hard to get into Björk's solo work. I do enjoy the experimental qualities to it. The blending of electronics and what sounds like field samples to create textures is very nice. Her voice is VERY unique, and despite it fitting the music quite well, I find that all together it’s just easy to dismiss as lovely background noise. Nothing really pulls me in. There’s no beat. There’s no groove. There’s no hook. I have huge artistic respect for her taking this approach but it’s just not anything that appeals to me.

The whole Björk albums are just tiring.

I believe Billie Eilish awes a lot to this album, so its no coincidence they both came into the world around the same time period. This marks the time where Bjork went full weird, 90s Bjork was at least accessible. 2000s Bjork just went off the deep end sonically.

Didn't quite get it.

This is all pleasant once you get used to her voice. I would actually prefer this as kind of a chill instrumental record. Not my favorite, but very well done and listenable.

I liked this one more for sure, the songs sounded nicer and the production was great at times. I am still not a fan of her voice, so I wasn’t able to enjoy a lot of the songs.

I feel similarly ab bjork and Joni Mitchell I think. Like I want to get it but I don’t. Ik I gave the Joni Mitchell album a 5 but actually I don’t listen to any of her music and it just makes me think. This album isn’t all bad but it’s just wierd and just the things going on aren’t for me. Idk what gaze/ears bjork is appealing to but it’s not mine. 4.5/10

My third Bjork album. Still not a fan. It’s just so whiny sounding. My visiting nephew, who admits to enjoying the occasional Bjork song, is much more generous and calls it “atmospheric “ and “flowy.” I’ll grant that. But it’s still also whiny.

First time listening to Bjork. Maybe my last time?

i can see someone really loving this, maybe a chick

This maybe harsh but it would be some much more enjoyable without the vocals. Musically it’s immersive but the singing is hurtful to my ears.

Yeah, was not really into it. Nothing in particular stood out. It wasn't completely terrible, so not gonna give it a 1, so 2 it is.

Wasn’t looking forward to this, but I enjoyed it more than I thought I would. Still not good. Dragged for most of the album. 2 stars.

Whimsical, bleepy, atmospheric. A bit too shrill at times. Very well intentioned

Nothing to write home about. I’m good if I don’t hear them again.

She has good avoice and it fit well with the music, the music just wasn't something I could get into. 2.5/5

Didn’t really get it.

Ethereal, atmospheric

1.5/5. I cannot stand Björk. I like the instrumentals, but her singing is painful.

Nah. Kinda gross

Well.. Interesting rather than good

- I hate her voice and I hate her lyrics - At least this has been the least bad Bjork album so yay? - Production was good

- It’s Not up to You might be her best song - or maybe I’m just getting Stockholm syndrome

Interesting but not for me.

Not my style

I quite like the concept of minimalist music and there were some interesting moments but ultimately the album just faded out into the background

Never quite sure what to make of Björk. In isolation some tracks are stunning. As an album I'm not so sure, seems so drift towards the point where it starts to become irritating.

While I appreciate there are lots of ideas going on here, I can't help but think it all gets a bit too self-indulgent. Most tracks feel a minute or two too long, or at least that's the point when I start to hover over the skip/next button. 2.5

I've always wanted to like Bjork as she is so cool. I quite liked The Sugarcubes, but when she hit the big time with 'Post' and that song, I went right off the thought of bothering to listen to her ever again. So 29 years later, for me and 6 years after that song, here we are. Nothing seems to have changed much, the same vocal affectations going on, the best I can say about it is that it is harmless and inoffensive, which is a massive antidote to yesterday's B.I.G. This just wafts along on its own fluffy little way. On first listen there seems to be no particular standout tracks as they seem to merge into some sort of homogeneous mass. Maybe on repeated listens there would be a separation into distinctive songs, so it may be worth playing this several times just to find out. A low 2 for the time being.

When I saw the name i thought that this was an immediate 1 but the beat makers and producers saves this one, mute Björk and this could actually be a nice Electronica album. So i would go listen to Bonobo instead which beats are similar. I guess i went in with the expectation of your average "Art Pop" artist and was expecting more harsh random noises, annoying vocal techniques and leaning heavy on "you just don't understand art". but i guess they toned it down a bit. the worst tracks seems to be the most popular on spotify "Pagan Poetry" The instrumental version of this album would might have been a 3-4

On Vespertine (which means something that occurs in the evening - think just prior to nocturnal) someone locked a sexually frustrated Bjork in a tool shed, where she proceeds to make typical Bjork noises while banging and clacking every tool she can find. Towards the end it feels as if all the noise was cathartic for her, and there is a certain sense of satisfaction and completion as the album draws to a close. The producers took the resulting recording and accented it nicely with some atmospheric strings. The album does have an 'evening' vibe to it I suppose. Two vespertine bats out of five. 🦇🦇

Whenever I listen to Bjork I always feel like I am just on the cusp of enjoying her music, but unfortunately this record did not put me over the edge.

Not for me. Surprisingly, I know a lot of people who love Bjork, and I've never understood it. It has elements of things that I like, but the finished product is not my thing whatsoever.

This album seemed like a great fit for the days leading up to Christmas. Felt like songs to get me in the mood for Xmas without being Xmas songs. That said, I still am not a fan of Bjork.

Wasn't for me

Actually not too familiar with Bjork since I usually skip these songs when they show up on any playlists of mine. Super weird and out of this world stuff but doesn't stick to me honestly, mostly just noise that goes in one ear and out another. Also I hate these vocals even though I can tell she's talented. 4/10

A dream-like album in which it’s a nightmare that I cannot wake up from. Bjork graduated from the School of Mispronounced words with Honors. English is Bjork’s fifth language. This album is a fever dream of technobeats and a clinically insane person singing, often times layered with her own voice like five times. Each and every song is waaaaaaaay too long and drags as she mispronounces the same lyrics for up to 6 minutes. Bjork created the genre of breathy women singing, where the vocalist exhales on every word without ever inhaling (many have died trying this technique, Bjork claims their souls for her pagan god). If anyone rates this over 3 out of 10 they are insane and Bjork’s witchcraft has already taken hold. 3/10

Not quite as weird as I thought it might be. Not as bad as I expected. Still not something I would want to hear again. Is she the one who started the breathy and over enunciatiated vocal style? I don’t like it.

Too weird

It was ok. Could have it on in the background and not turn it off

I really liked parts of this but most of it sounded the same to me. I'd be interested to at least check out more

Not as good as debut

Meh, didn't really listen to it all. A bit much

I'm not a big Bjork fan, it turns out.

Тихо и спокойно, but not my tipe

bad length. nothing to grab onto except bjööbs in her music video for pagan poetry. better than bob dylan. he doesn't have bjööbs.

It insists upon itself

I like some Björk stuff but I dunno. Shit’s mostly too weird for me. Weird to be weird as they say.

not for me

This wasn't really my thing. The sound of some songs are good, but the singing ruins it a bit for me. Can't really see myself listening to this again any time soon.

Een soort koortsdroom. Wel gelachen, niet geneukt. Wel mentaal.

Never really listened to much Bjork. Overall it’s really nothing too appealing to me. The production is pretty good and some of the instrumentals were well done. It doesn’t save the rest of the album of bjorks repetitive lyrics and pretty boring singing style. Overall there’s nothing here for me to revisit. 5.1/10

The best track is the one without vocals. Enough said.

Proper art pop. Glad I listened but I won’t again.

A bit too minimalistic and ethereal for my taste

Sounds like shit to me

It was very weird in an interesting way. But the melodies were too abstract. Lyrics are also not singable so I don't find much to enjoy in this album.

I get it. She's got a unique voice and the music is interesting - very ethereal. But I just can't get into it.

Meh, the backing instrumentals were good, but Bjork's voice was not

airy, breathy, weird as usual

I just can’t stand Björk. Her music has almost no artistic value to me

Har enkelte ålreite sanger, men generelt blir albumet litt for mye for meg

Not much of a fan of Bjork and this album reinforced that.

Production was great, sounded so good in my beats. I think it was the vocals that pulled me away from enjoyment. I will give this a 2 with no playlist adds.

All Björk songs are the same song...

Bjork tops my list of artists who I respect and find interesting, but try as I might I just cannot get into their music. Her voice does nothing for me. She's cool in The Northman, though.

Bjork isn't my type of music. So this is going to be a "pass" for me.

I made a mistake when listening to this album, in that before starting it, I played Hyperballad. To hear what Björk is capable of, then playing Vespertine, almost has to be a bit of a disappointment. That's not to say this album is bad. It isn't. But it isn't good, either. I'm not convinced it would be a grower, either. It is "bright" - almost to the point of distraction. I get that Björk is experimental. I also need to accept that often experiments fail.

The last album we got of her I was willing to have an open mind but in all honestly I couldn’t get through this one. I know she’s different but sometimes different isn’t good, I just didn’t understand any part of it. Some of it was definitely interesting, but just not my fave.

Not a Bjork fan.

It's interesting to listen too musically. Lots of instrumentation, strings on almost every song. Her voice is very distinct through all of it. It's not something I would listen to on a normal basis. It's experimental, and strange, I'm not really sure what to think about it.

Not really me.

She has a beautiful voice. I found the album a bit boring halfway through though, just not enough variety for me. I did think that some remixes of her music could work real well. So I am looking for that now.

vespertine was a different kind of album than what's typically part of this list. i found it interesting, but i didn't like it very much. while i'm unfamiliar with björk, i can say that this style in this album isn't very common. i was amazed to learn the driving aspect of this album was to create music that functioned well when downloaded and listened on a computer! the choices to make the album electronic and ethereal--and so quiet!--as a result were pretty cool. that being said, eh. as much as i respect her, i found björk's voice grating at times and it quickly soured me. i did try to focus on the instrumentals, which used a variety of instruments to create an unusual sound, but she sang quite often. it could have very well have been too artsy for me.

Can't lie I find Björk so overrated and I've TRIED so many times to like her but I'm very specific when it comes to psychedelia and experimental electronic and Björk doesn't hit it for me. I appreciate she's a really cool woman and that this is a technically remarkable album but I don't think it's something i'd revisit Fav song: it's not up to you. i like interspersing of glitchy synth with a harpy tinkling (sounds like musical static) into an electro-pop chorus. I also think Harm Of Will really showcases her brilliant voice

I found this a bit of a weird one. Totally forgettable noise, except that I didn't mind it on in the background. I can't remember anything about it, despite fully listening, but I'm glad I've heard at least one Björk album. Wouldn't listen again, but +1 for a background bonus.

This album has a really good production and sound but it is just not my kind of music. Theres a bizarre airy fairyness to it that just doesn't click with me. It's alright to listen to in the background I suppose. Highlights: Hidden Place Pagan Poetry

Couldn’t get into it. Might try again sometime, but probably won’t.

I like Bjork, but never heard this album or any of the songs. After listening to it all day, I didn’t really feel much of any connection. 2.5/5

What the hell am I listening to. I will admit, there are some beautiful instrumentals going on, but when the singing starts, i'm out.

no thank you. 2.

the music itself is really cool but I just can’t get over her voice and the pacing of it, it is so far from being on beat (which I know is the point) and It’s just not for me.

Ooof. I can't recommend it. Ok at times. But just plain weird

Well I made it back to this one and sure gave it a try. It's weird but not in the way I prefer like how Zappa is weird or jazz can be weird. Maybe I just don't get it and never will

Não faz meu estilo

Bjork definitely is iconic for her "otherness" but setting that aside, the album just melds into one big background sound. I can see how it might appeal as an "artsy" production but it just wasn't all that interesting to listen to for me

There were portions of songs that had an interesting sound and feel to them but overall I found this album pretty boring and one note. No song stood out more than the others.

1/12, 8%

very interesting electronic music with one of the most distinctive voices I have heard. Musically I understand why this is important, but just not in my interests currently.

All Bjork is the same weird 2/5ness.

Couldn’t make it through the whole thing.

Boring. Same songs

I believe this is the 2nd Bjork album I have gotten and I tried to give her music a chance but I just couldn't get into it. I dislike her childlike voice. The music itself is meh ok.

Is this still music

Booooring

Avant garde Unlike anything I've ever heard. Not sure if I like it.

Pop. Muy aburrido.

Just sounds like toneless self indulgence to me.

I appreciate the creativity in the song design and the combination of instruments and samples or however they created the repeating and jumping rhythm sections. That said, this isn’t my favorite collection of songs by Bjork. I probably won’t go out of my way to listen again.

After run of 3 absolute classic 60’s rock records, this couldn’t be more different. Not sure it was enjoyable but can appreciate the artistry here. Glad I listened but wouldn’t be rushing back, deserves to be on the list, but this music can feel like a chore

Ei lähre

pretty voice but the asmr music ..

I didn't think I liked Bjork before I listened to this album. The music is actually pretty good, quite chill and ambient. Indeed, after the album finished some of Amazon Music's related tracks playlist included the likes of Massive Attack who I love. However, I can't really get beyond Bjork's voice, it's just a bit too nasally and whiny. So, after listening, I still don't like Bjork.

Not as insufferable as the last Bjork album I had to listen to, but still not something I want to listen to again.

Not for me

Yeah... not for me.

Lyssnade i lägenheten i Gif-Sur-Yvette.

Weird but ok

06/01/2022 Really love the out-there aura around her, but the tunes are a bit TOO strange for me to enjoy.

a bit to chill for my taste. Would make decent focus/background music though.

It's just so weeeeird. The sounds, what she is doing with her voice, not really enjoyable.

Couldn't stand more than a minute of this - her voice irritates me (and I don't like the music either)

Listening to Bjork can be so boring sometimes, repetitive vocal and musical styling must admit this is not one of my favourites, I Liked "Hidden Place" but found the rest of the LP quite mundane.

I guess this music is popular enough to be a thing, but to me, it was virtually unlistenable. The first album I have ever quit before finishing.

Well.. First song.. Much better than I thought and I like it. 2nd song still ok, 3rd song hmm starting to get a little annoying. 4th song I'm not liking this anymore 5th song make it stop.. Bjork is someone who listen to small doses.

Will o the wisp shit

Was ok

Happy birthday to me, I guess. Never been a big fan of Bjork. She's certainly original, I just don't like her style. Her voice is a little too breathless, music a little too sparse. It's like a more ephemeral version of Radiohead, which I'm sure works for a lot of people but for me it doesn't do much. Still, at least a couple songs I liked, but overall I'd rather listen to something else. Favorite tracks: It's Not Up to You, Unison. Album art: Black and white, not a great start, but she's wearing that famed dead swan dress, and there's a cool stencil of a swan superimposed over the whole thing. It's a bit busy with the layers but I do like this one. 2.5/5

Better than expected

Ethereal. Experimental. Electronic. That’s what comes across to me. At times quite pleasant, such as the multiple Björks on Undo. And unfortunately followed up by Pagan Poetry. I can do without the hand bell orchestra. This is in the 2/3 range. Bottom line: There were far more songs where I wanted to turn this album off than keep listening.

The instrumental tracks would have been okay had they been instrumentals used in the form of ambience music, and her vocal abilities are amazing. But this avant garde misuse of the voice just doesn’t fit with the music and tended to be directionless and a bit annoying.

Thought it was decent- I could see myself listening to this and being stuck in a hole. I respect the experimental vibes

Ugh. Still don’t like Björk

'Vespertine' is Björk's fourth album, and is a combination between art pop and electronica. However, this album does contain concepts from a lot of other musical genres, which makes it hard to classify. This album performed well in Europe, but did not find its footing in America (which explains why I never heard this music). The theme of this album revolves around love and sex, and the vibes are chill, psychedelic, and erotic. The tone is soothing, timeless, warm but also cold, and would fit an evening alone at home by the fire, while it snows outside and the listener is wishfully hoping for a lover's touch. Do I recommend the album? Eh, it's not for me, but everyone should try it once.

kinda neat but

Not my listening preference

interesting, less pop then the other albums of hers i've listened to

Never did understand Bjork.

Probably a very solid Björk album but not my cup of tea

I just can't. I'm happy that Björk has had success being her authentically oddball self and whatnot, but I'm just not musically compatible with this record. I want to have a good time when I'm listening to music. Not be all high-brow artsy fartsy experimental. It's not you, Björk, it's me. Points added for the iconic swan dress.

The thing that pisses me off about Björk is that it's all a fake. Like, you start to think to yourself, "It's not her fault that her voice is so breathy and anemic; it's just who she is. I'm a jerk. I should just let her be who she is." And then she closes her record with a powerhouse of a song, and it's like, "Wait, you were able to sing like that the whole time?! You were choosing to sound like a wounded animal?" I don't get it, man. Best track: Unison

Nothing catchy melodically or lyrically and while most of the album was inoffensive, some of it was actively offensive.

I preferred Bjork's Debut album to this one, albeit I didn't have much time to listen to it repeatedly. 2 at best.

First listen. Very interesting album. I need more listens to this one. I think this one will be rated higher in future listens but for now it is a 2/5.

Way to out there for me

Quietly pretty. Bit boring, better for background. Cocoon is quite sexy and intimate, Heirloom and Unison are most fully realised song in the traditional sense.

Its bjork

An avant-garde masterpiece. 2/5.

Doesn’t matter how interesting the music is if you can’t get past the desperate vocal style. Will never go back

Not too bad. Wouldn’t turn it off, but probably wouldn’t turn it in either

This is a tough one. I actually quite like the background music for this, but Bjork sounds like someone riding in a car on a bumpy road. It'll be a 2, but only for vocals.

Was alright

Tres canciones y no puedo más

I mean its Bjork. Not sure how to tell the difference from one song to the other.

So bizarre. I was waiting for it to be over.

Got halfway thru it was okay

Demasiado experimental

This is another one of those albums where the sound is super different and I kinda get what they're trying to do, but I just don't really like listening to it. Sort of like the two PJ Harvey albums in a way. Which is a shame, because I've heard good things about Björk

2/5 way too experimental and soothing for my taste.

Repetitive. Not my style didn't finish

Very haunting voice and eclectic sounds but a little too far out there for my enjoyment

Songs: Aurora

I enjoy the music but her voice just grates on me.

A bit too ambient for my taste

Not really my thing, but that's why I started this -- to hear stuff that may not be my thing. I like her voice, but the music is a little moody for me. Kind of reminds me of Enya, more background music for a nap in my world than anything else.

I listened to the first two songs, and as I suspected, I am just not a fan of Bjork. I could almost put the album on in the background if it was the background music alone. I don't know that I would ever put it on though, It would just have to happen based on the algorithms of my streaming service. Then I would turn it off once the singing started. It certainly isn't bad, it just isn't for me.

She probably has better albums

This was alright. Not particularly my style, but the end of the album was very nice. It was a nice change of pace from my usual playlists.

I tried, but I just hate her voice

Eh, not a Bjork fan no matter how hard I try.

Not her best work in my opinion. There is some instrumentation in this that grates on me a bit. I don't necessarily have a favorite, but this is not it for sure.

It’s just, not for me, ya know

It's definitley not basic but not gonna listen to it again

niet echt mijn ding 1.5/5

Estranho, como a Bjork.

Not a Björk fan. I did once, in the 2000s, pay a bunch of money to put this entire album on an early electronic jukebox at a bar.

There’s one or two songs that aren’t as Bjorky as the rest. But it’s still a very Bjorky album overall. Just can’t get into her style. 1.5

terrible.

FINALLY SOMETHING FROM THE 2000s!!! Update: 🫩 TBH I didn't listen to it... lol her voice annoyed me for some reason 😭😭

Too experimental for me.

Mało muzyczna muzyka. Bez rytmu i melodii. 1

Just didn’t do it for me. Boring & odd

500 was great and for 501 we go right back to this kind of bullshit. Second (and I pray last) time I encountered this weirdo moaning her way through back music tracks. Tried three tracks couldn’t make it through any of them. Needs a negative rating.

Ethereal and just, well, no

I guess there’s something for everyone out there. This one falls into The “Talentless and Depressed” genre, feeding a fan base of females on the cusp of going full lesbian. More power to them! We need more Lesbians, I say! Just pick better music!

Another Bjork album, another one start rating.

<eye roll>

Please less Bjork..PLEASE. Wow, i couldnt wait for this painful hour to be over. Bjork i get it, you're weird...can we stop now. TY!

i didn't really enjoy it, it go better as it went on but like it wasnt for me

björk

Not into experimental, weird music

The production was good, but her singing voice is quite annoying. It's so exaggerated and I feel like the songs are similar to Bob Dylan's; they would be better if someone else was singing them.

Did not like this one as much

Not my thing

Strange voice. Strange music.

Favorite Song: None

Rough stuff. Fever dream soundtrack. Nails on a chalk board. Nightmare music. It's music for ASMR freaks before anyone knew what an ASMR was. Some of it threatens to be soothing, but it never is. I'm good

This might be the worst Non-electronic or Non-Experimental album on the list oh my god. There is no way you guys like this right? You're messing with me? Best Song: Pagan Poetry Rating: 1/10 Stars: 1

Not this twit again. Frickin horrrrrrrible 0.00

Keech! Pure unadulterated keech!

Not for me

I really do not get the reason she has such a following. The only cut on the album that I found even remotely pleasing was "Aurora", and that was still a slog. The dissonance of both her voice and music just do not work for me. As for her lyrics, they read/sound like a forest nymph reading junior high school poetry. So, not even close to a likeable album.

Really not a fan of Bjork's amelodic music.

Best: It's not up to you Worst: lowkey too many to count Liked songs: 4/12, 33% High 1 I'm missing something. That's the only real explanation I can think of for my first ever 1/5 review on this site being the album that aoty considers the 8th greatest album of all time. This album to me is if someone tried way too hard for their music to be called "unique" or "beautiful," because there's certainly times the album reaches those points, but it's usually after a LOT of failed attempts to reach those points. Because of that, it's really one of only a couple of albums I've ever listened to where I felt genuine relief when it finished. I'm sure I'll listen to it again and be transformed in body and soul like the other reviews, but until then, it's gotta be a one.

Absolutely not

Rubbish

Once you've heard one of her albums you've heard them all. If it was AC/DC thats a plus but if you didn't love the first one your not going to love the second.

Oh good. ASMR Björk. Just what the world needed.

Its Bjork what more do I need to say than that its not fun time at all.

Not for me

Bjork Chops.

She's so bad I have NO IDEA how she ever became popular. Her voice is dreadful, the music is just noise and clicking (set the table for late Radiohead nonsense) and there are no hooks. It's like someone drunk as hell just babbling over boring choppy music. Not a hit on it, no radio songs, no longevity, no watercooler talk ("what ever happened to that kick ass Bjork gal?"), no nothing. Zero payoff for me. I saw the Sugarcubes open for U2 ages ago and knew right then and there that I was not a fan. 1 star for fooling the world for a few years. I couldn't finish a single song. Pure shit.

Nope. 1.5

The second Bjork album that’s been forced upon me on this album challenge so far. Weirdly I actually enjoyed a lot of the musical arrangements and can tell there’s some beautiful stuff going on. Pagan Poetry, for example, sounded damn near ethereal. AND THEN BJORK DID HER WEIRD SINGING AND RUINED IT LIKE SHE HAS DONE FOR NEARLY EVERY SONG SHE’S ON. There are songs where she sings halfway normally and it sounds fine, so I know the weird singing style on certain songs is on purpose! And it ruins everything! How can people listen to this and want more?! How do they not rip out their headphones in disgust?!

I have nothing nice to say about this album. Here goes a low-effort joke instead: The Horse of Shock and Astonishment when Pagan Poetry comes on : 😳🐴

It's an hour of Bjork, not sure what else to say... 1/5

Preteško mi je ovo za slušati, došla sam do pola albuma i nisam mogla nastaviti, uz najbolju volju. 1/5, 1/10.

Ugh bjork...

Never listened to Bjork before... pretty weird, definitely an artsy voice, super electronic music. Very much not a fan or her voice, it's super spacey and kinda grating. Her voice reminds me of the chick from Bob's Burgers who sings the oil spill song. Come to think of it she was almost definitely based on Bjork. This is pretty hard to get through. This might be the first album of the whole thing that I have to turn off, man I cannot fucking stand her voice. Yeah I'm a bit ashamed I had to turn it off but holy shit I hated that.

Whhhaaaaaattt thhheee fuuuuckkk…nope!

not my style

Fuck, not more Bjork... 3 of her albums on this generator is far too many. It's just more of the same moaning and horseshit that her other albums were. A few of these songs showed promise, then Bjork started singing and agitating dogs in the local area with her high pitched caterwauling. No. Just no... Favourite songs: Hidden Place, Pagan Poetry Least favourite songs: Cocoon, An Echo a Stain, Sun in My Mouth, Harm of Will 1/5. I pray that is the last Bjork album I have to suffer through

Oh good, another Bjork album. No. Still no....

Another miserable album from berk

I can’t stand this. I don’t know why people like this music?

Don't get it and didn't like anything about this. Pretty much my review from the other from this person. ND hockey had a great player named Anders Bjork. Have a friend, who's band is called Suburban, Travis Bjork. His band is better than this person.

I found this boring. Last few songs picked up a bit but still weren’t anything I would ever want to listen to again. If it was a bit more upbeat I could see it being good chillstep type music to study to. 2/10

Ich mag Björk noch immer nicht. Langweilig.

I really liked her song "Human Behaviour" back in the day...but this album is a little bit out there.

Never heard this before. This album might become my new go-to when I want to get a lot of things done in a day. Because listening to this 55 minute album felt like 4 hours. Forgettable.

I've heard heard people call Billie Eilish boring. They've clearly never listened to a Bjork album. Boy I can't wait for the next one...

I'd rather have vinegar pour into a wound than listen to that again. 1 star

Awful.

What a pile of garbage. I can’t imagine the mood or venue where someone would choose to listen to this.

Give me nails on a chalkboard next time...

Too far out for me

IRRITATING VOICE Deliberately irritating tracks Couldnt finish Wish I could give it -3

What an absolute waste of my time. I could have baked a pan of brownies, read multiple chapters of a book, or watched a full episode of the sopranos instead of listening to this. There was only one moment in the album that was actually enjoyable, the rest was artsy nothingness. I hate her voice and I hate the instrumentals. Spare me any more of this, please. I’m supposed to be getting culture, not wasting an hour of my day listening to an indie girls voice cracking when she tries to sing high notes. I’m going to score this very low mainly because it put me in a bad mood. Best track: The ending of “Undo”

Sehr abstrakte Musik.

that was weird af

I gave it a shot, but it was a struggle to get through this album.

Björk on outo.

Maybe I'm not intellectual enough or artsy enough to understand Bjork. She has a good voice, don't get me wrong. But that voice is only good when she tries. Bjork maintains a very wispy type of singing voice throughout the record. Definitely not something I'm into.

To quote Ebert, I hated, hated, hated this [album]. I gave up halfway through. Obnoxious instrumentals, obnoxious voice.

absolutely not

Did not like this at all

I am really not a fan of Bjork music.

This is the most awful, whiny, waffle music I’ve ever heard. It’s like a seal became a woman and starting “oh-oh”-ing over a badly put together track on garage band.

I mean this didn't offend me but just didn't get it and as far as I am concerned, not very good.
