Heroes
David BowieReally cool, although I don’t love the title track. Not the greatest Bowie, but it’s still Bowie.

Not a big Blur (or Britpop) guy, but Parkife, Badhead, To the End, Magical America (great chorus!) and This Is a Low are great songs. Besides that the album mostly swings between annoying and irrelevant.
What a great album, would hate, if they made a cringy hollywood movie about the creation process.
Pure power & ecstasy.
Prince is an absolutely fascinating artist. There are more ideas in some of his songs, than on entire records by others. That can be overwhelming at times, but is mostly just impressive. My only criticism is, that this album here is too long and the incredible ~50 minutes in there are watered down by some more forgettable songs, e.g. "It’s Gonna Be a Beautiful Night". Those songs aren’t even bad at all, but just a weirdly benign distraction of the moments that let you live in the genius that was Prince. (vinyl)
I'll admit, that I've never heard of The Stone Roses before today, which makes it a first in this pretty fresh project of mine. My first impression wasn't to great, as "I Wanna Be Adored" bored me pretty immediately and reminded me of a less creative version of 10cc's "I'm Not in Love", but from the song "(Song for My) Sugar Spun Sister", I was pretty hooked. The following songs "Made of Stone" and "Shoot you Down" were also of my liking, while I didn't really care for the "This Is the One". "I Am the Ressurection" and "Fools Gold“ are very strong closers. Overall an interesting album, that is a little too reminiscent of 10cc, the Beach Boys and especially the Beatles, but generally enjoyable, with some cool ideas.
Relatively uneventful, but it’s kinda hilarious, that every british band seems to have at least one song, that is so very clearly inspired by the Beatles. This time it’s "Wednesday Week". Probably the best song on the record, for that matter.
VERY GOOD. I fucking love The Beatles (vinyl)
Impeccable (vinyl)
OYE CÓMO VA MI RITMO BUENO PA GOZAR MULATA OYE CÓMO VA MI RITMO BUENO PA GOZAR MULATA OYE CÓMO VA MI RITMO BUENO PA GOZAR MULATA
Not bad, but pretty boring. One and Until the End of the World are good songs though.
very long and pretty uneventful, but good pop music
Beautiful music! "How Blue Can You Get?" is my personal favorite. My only point of criticism is, that the lyrics haven't aged greatly, but I think that's forgivable considering the time of it's release.
Without a doubt the most interesting album so far and probably a stable for the future. Songs I can get lost in, like Diaraby. Ry Cooder is a cool guy.
Loved Miss Me Blind and the general vibes. Somewhat tiring music at some point though.
To be fair, it’s more about my appreciation of the endeavor, than my actual enjoyment of the record. Normally I would give it a 3, as it is so very clearly an 80s record, and with that just a little annoying, but I’m fascinated by Paul Simon, his ideas for this album, and the lasting impact it had on much of the pop music, that came after. The musicians are also simply amazing.
Good sound and energy. The mix of drum&bass with the indian harmonies and instrumentation is really cool and makes me want to move. In the end, it’s still not my preferred kind of tune.
There are these moments, that are pretty energetic and make me want to move, but also some, that are baffling in their annoyance. Doesn’t work in most situations, but walking home last night in the rain, it was definitely a mood.
It pains me a little to give this beautiful album just four stars, but while I thoroughly enjoyed re-listening to it and John Prine is clearly one of the greatest songwriters, I feel like the album itself is more of a collection of very good to great songs, and not really an album, with a specific arc or a “story” told through the songs. Maybe that’s an unreasonable request, but was unfortunately somewhat limiting to my enjoyment of the listening experience. Alas, I still love you John. You are one of the greatest.
It’s all one song, but that song is really good.
still very good (vinyl)
I feel bad for giving it only three stars right now, but it didn’t catch me as much as contemporaries like 2001. On the other hand I really appreciated the lack of skits and relative shortness.
Super smooth & enjoyable, but peaks with the opener and gets repetitive really quickly. Good for the background, boring for intensive listening.
what a beautiful trip
very enjoyable pop music
I fucking love Leonard Cohen.
Would like to like it more.
A couple of bangers, but too long and of course misogynistic, in my opinion.
Good, but didn’t do much for me.
Very rough to rate. Not really enjoyable to listen to, but obviously very artistically impressive.
cool!
