it’s still elvis costello so i enjoyed this but none of these albums can touch my aim is true

5-Star Albums (30)

this was great. i still liked blue better which makes me think i probably should have given that a five, but this is so good too. this list is making me realise i like joni mitchell much better than i thought.
1-Star Albums (12)
All Ratings (261)
This is objectively a better album than 2/5 but speaking solely from personal preference, was just not doing it for me apart from a couple exceptions.
great tunes for doing housework, though i have to admit i probably wouldn’t be able to pick any of these songs out of a lineup even having just listened to it.
they should do half stars this is a 3.5
Bonus points for sentimental value for 15-year-old-Dom whose room was covered in Kurt Cobain posters. Though admittedly, some songs were easier to sing along to back when my English was not great (looking at you, track 4).
Very hit or miss. The good ones are great, the others made my workout more painful than it had to be.
I listened to this at the gym, which was my first mistake. They had me with the first song, but it went downhill from there. Struggling to recall anything else from it now other than wanting it to end
Once again asking for half stars because this is a strong 4.5 for me. What a good reprieve after the last couple of days.
Call me a racoon because I love Garbage. Where has Garbage been all my life? Give me more Garbage.
Is this a safe space for confessions? I don’t think I’ve ever fully listened to yellow submarine. It comes on, I skip it. Forgive me for I have sinned. Otherwise great album.
Does it count as a review when you skip every song after 30 seconds? I’m so sorry, Leonard Cohen. I know you’re a legend. But this one wasn’t for me.
Early Queen is so dear to me, and this weird little album is one of my all time favourites. So happy we got this here.
I wish we would have gotten Mechanical Animals instead because I think it’s a better album. This is still a 3.5 for me because the first half is great, but I tend to lose interest about the 40 min mark and switch to another album.
i didn’t know most of these. this was fun.
I don’t think I ever listened to a full PJ Harvey album before but man did I miss out. Going straight into my library.
this was good fun
10/10 no notes
For some reason I was obsessed with the Ramones when I was 14. I made my mum listen to their best of album so often in the car, bless her heart for bearing that. I might rank this lower if this was my first listen, but it’s just all vibes for me.
Slipknot is not really an album band for me but it’s still Slipknot, so overall I enjoyed this.
Loved it at 15, loving it at 33.
I didn’t dislike this as much as I thought I would.
Eh
Yes. Very happy with this.
Yes, I enjoyed this a lot. Hidden track was a bit of a letdown but you can’t have it all.
I was going to skip this because I am not a Samba fan at all. I’m glad I didn’t. Absolute banger of an album. Listened three times while working.
i was worried about this because i didn’t like the other two albums of his that we’ve had on this list. but this was great.
between a 3 and a 4 for me, but either way going into the library.
I was in the perfect mood for this today, this was great.
not for me
enjoyed this a lot more than i expected
i was going to give it a 4 but then it really lost me in the end
this was fine but also a little like i was on hold for a customer service i don’t remember calling
turns out i really just can’t do country unless it’s in a cheesy tornado movie
This might be a controversial opinion but Bridge over Troubled Water (the song) never really did it for me. El Condor Pasa, however, immediately makes me want to cry (in a good way) every time i listen to it.
this was new for me and it’s going straight to my library.
why have i never listened to the stooges before? this was great
god i love the pixies
i’m sorry. i can’t. don’t hate me.
would rate higher if this would let me
hmmm no
this was weird in a way that i enjoyed. not sure i’ll come back to it, but i enjoyed the experience.
Started strong but then flatlined for me
i was listening to this on the plane, then got off the plane, and they promptly played groove is in the heart at the airport. what a tune. the rest of this is meh.
what a treat
I didn’t know this album before, what a treat. Between a 4 and 5 for me, but because I have joy in my heart today I’ll go with a 5.
Struggling between a 3 and a 4 here. We all know Taylor is an incredible songwriter and individually these are all good songs, just overall a little more forgettable than some of the other albums.
Really struggling between 3 and 4 here. Objectively this is a great album. I know I would be happy if someone else puts it on. But I don’t think I will often, if ever, have the urge to put this on myself.
this came out when i was 13 and me and my best friend listened to it every time we met for just about two years. absolute core memories.
On another day I would probably rate this higher because it’s still radiohead, but today I had joy in my heart and this album robbed me of it.
Very divided with this. I’ve seen them live a few times back when Keith was still alive and the energy they brought is absolutely unreal, which is matched in the singles of this album. The rest however was unfortunately underwhelming. Bonus points for the cover though.
i love the stones but they just have never been an album band for me. also might have listened to the wrong version of this.
I haven’t listened to Elvis Costello in years, I forgot how much I enjoy this album. Man 1977 was a good year for music.
I was excited about this initially and the songs I knew already I loved, but the rest kind of fell flat for me
Another great new find
man i love the pixies
this was weird. i liked it. not enough to add it to my library, but you just never knew what was going to happen next. what was the conference? why are we suddenly quoting oppenheimer? keeps you on your toes.
not my favourite bowie album but great to revisit, especially cracked actor and lady grinning soul are some of my favourites of his.
Fantastic give me 5 more of them
early queen is my favourite queen. their first 5 albums are absolutely unmatched. how good is flick of the wrist? how good is all of this? always great to revisit.
i liked this better than sweetheart of the radio but my qualm is just that it’s SO long. i dont need alternative versions or instrumental only and god knows i don’t need ACTUAL COMMENTARY or someone just talking about it. up until we got to the bonus shenanigans this was good though so i’m still going with 3.
11 years late but Disarm was my soundtrack of summer 2004. the best of times.
most of this is absolutely incredible. some of this is good. i was between a 4 and a 5 with this but then listened to muse after, which is such an obvious 5 that this just looks like a 4 in comparison.
not every song is a 5 but overall it’s just so good. I love her voice. Fast car never gets old.
bit hit or miss for me. also who knew the pussy cat dolls stole the melody for don’t cha. i sure did not.
i thought i had rated this already but apparently not. do i have 163 other albums to listen to? yes. yes, i do, but i’ll take any chance to listen to this again. it’s just brilliant.
mhh some bits i enjoyed. most of it not so much.
i just love chris cornell’s voice so much. i can’t believe he’s been gone for 9 years already. I always had a slight preference for Audioslave (maybe because i found them first), but this is great as well.
man this was just amazing. i never even heard of them but i enjoyed this so much. strong 4.5
overall this was solid. some of these were great but overall just did not hook me just enough for a 4.
more rocky again, love!
This is how i find out who sign your name is by. overall quite solid.
almost all of this individually is just great but there is just…so much of it. there is so many songs. so. many. songs.
some of this i enjoyed, but overall this was too grating to be this long
listened to this with a glass of wine while cooking on a sunny bank holiday. not sure if this would have worked as well in any other context but brilliant for today.
it’s no what’s going on, unfortunately. i didn’t particularly mind any of these songs, but also didn’t grip me.
this sounds so little like the kings of leon i know. i only really knew only by the night, which i also enjoyed, but this is quite different. makes me think i should have listened to their earlier stuff sooner. more please.
this is brilliant. its also way too long. but its brilliant. wanted to give it a 4 mainly because of the length but then in ended with o children. what a choice to put the best song at the end. won me over
see length wise this was great. music wise this was not. i preferred the other two albums we’ve had from them.
the transition from for free (1/5) to king kunta (5/5) gave me whiplash. everything else is somewhere in between. i was looking forward to this album but didn’t quite live up to my expectations.
some if this was incredible. some of this was really weird in a way i did not like. every time i thought it was over, there was another track. i am starting to think i may have died listening to this and am now living in a nirvana where space ritual plays for eternity.
mhh first four songs absolutely incredible. then it just kind of loses momentum for me with a couple of exceptions.
this was very hit or miss for me. kept me on my toes though, so i didn’t mind the ‘miss’ parts as much.
I really wasn’t looking forward to this album after she went on her republican, mini-kanye rant a couple of months ago. I have to say this is much better than I though it would be.
i want to like jazz. in my head i am a person that likes jazz. and then 80% of the time i listen to jazz it just makes me feel nothing. don’t get me wrong, i didn’t dislike this. some bits i enjoyed a lot. but overall it just didn’t move me very much.
i want to give this both a 3 and a 4 and i keep going back and forth. choosing one on random now.
this is just a masterpiece
i can’t believe i’ve never listened to a TV On The Radio album before this because every song I do know from them I quite enjoy. This was nice, gonna add their other albums to my to-listen list
Another lovely find
Drop the pressure I know well (though never knew the artist) but overall this is just not for me. i feel bad for leaving bad reviews because i’m sure there’s people who enjoy this and i’m very happy they get to listen to this but i had to turn it off with 4 songs to go
didn’t know them before, another great new find from this list
Not every song here is my cup of tea but overall very much enjoyed this
ah man this is really good. stronger in the first half, as most of these, but i have joy in my heart today so i’m giving it a 5.
forgive me father for i have judged an album by it’s cover. again. this was incredible. it reminded me so much of childish gambino, though considering this one came way earlier, you can tell how much of awaken my love is based on this album. loved it.
nice
i really wanted to like this more but the instrumentals just really put me off today
another band i didn’t know, another album i really enjoyed
it’s safe to say that if it’s punk, i’ll probably enjoy it. was this a lyrical or vocal masterpiece? no. did i enjoy it anyway? yes. realistically a 3.5 rounded up to 4.
sometimes you just get the exact right album for the day you’re having. usually i’m not a fan of these many switches in mood/genre, but this was delightful.
i know this album is objectively good but johnny cash is just not my cup of tea
it started so strong with karma chameleon and then it just lost me
for some reason i just really cannot get into this
i can’t do this, i’m just not a country girl
i’m giving this five even though that means i should have given other albums in the past five as well. it is what it is. this is great stuff.
i listened to this three times, this is incredible.
Wanted to give this 4 starts because it started in credible, but just lost a bit of momentum for me
i had to turn this off because it made me anxious. i refuse to be anxious on a friday.
this was weird in an excellent way. deceptacon is a classic.
didn’t know this album before, but this was a nice listen
This was fine
forgive me father for i have judged an album by its cover. i thought i would hate this but this was actually quite enjoyable.
perfect length album for this but also i was SO confused that spotify only had the english version. I never realised they recorded the whole thing in two languages. i’ve never heard the model in english before and it was slightly off-putting but still solid.
i liked this enough but also think i’m never gonna listen to it again
i genuinely enjoyed this more than i thought i would. strong 3.5
i expected to like this. boy was i wrong.
this would be 5 stars if it was 15 mins shorter
this is between a 4 and a 5 but i’m giving it a 5 because i had never heard of mudhoney before and this was such a good surprise today
not a big reggae fan so this was better than i expected
This was fine
Ooof not for me today
this was weird in a fun way.
this was fine
Beetlebum is an incredible start, but the rest was kind of hit or miss for me
never listen to a full album of his but i enjoyed this
between a 3 and a 4 here, this was a nice surprise
not for me
between a 3 and 4 but siding with 3 because i’m not sure how likely i am to come back to it
i enjoyed this a lot
listened while walking in the rain. would recommend.
Fantastic first track and then proceeded to completely lose me
i’d give it 50 if i could
too much of this reminded me of weird al and once i made that association i could not unhear it anymore
i’m probably unfairly rating this because the only place i could find this was youtube and i dnfed it after three tracks because i did not enjoy it enough to listen to adds before every track
i’m sorry joni mitchell i underestimated you
this is great but i enjoyed the first half more. 3.5 realistically today
I feel like I liked his other album better, but also it was way too sunny for this yesterday, whereas his other album we got on a moody, rainy day, which worked perfectly. So that might also influence my opinion.
i feel like my ratings are all over the place lately. i kept going back between 3 and 4 with this but DLZ is just so good, so am gonna go with 4.
i wanted to give this everything from a 2 to a 4, so i’m going to settle on a confused 3.
most of this is absolutely incredible and then there is a couple songs that just really take me out of it. i would probably love them anyway if this wasn’t the first time i’ve heard them but going with a 4. disco 2000 is fucking incredible.
i was intrigued at first but then it just kept going
Yes, give me 12 more of these
i really don’t know what to make of this. i usually like a bit of jazz, but this is just a bit too jazzy. also no album should be 1 hour 45 minutes. i did not finish this, i am so sorry miles davis.
this really, really, really didn’t do it for me
This was good but I preferred Dry
Yes. Great vibes.
This was so much better than I thought it would be. Not sure how likely I am to come back to this but I really enjoyed this.
yeah this was fine. didn’t hate it, didn’t love it.
it’s still elvis costello so i enjoyed this but none of these albums can touch my aim is true
absolutely unhinged to start with a 10 minute song that’s instrumental for most part. i love it. this is brilliant. it’s also 20 minutes too long. other than that outstanding.
i really did not enjoy this. i’m tempted to give this a two but that seems blasphemous.
my head says 4 but my heart says 5
not quite as good as i remembered it but the hits are still hitting
I think I was going to give this a three but looking at it this morning I already don’t remember anything about it
this was so weird. some of it in an irritating way but most of it in ways that really tickled me.
didn’t hate it, didn’t love it. solid 3
I had to DNF this halfway through, this is just really not for me
this was great. i still liked blue better which makes me think i probably should have given that a five, but this is so good too. this list is making me realise i like joni mitchell much better than i thought.
i’m not sure if this is genuinely a 5 or if i’ve just been so taken by surprise by this after not liking Sister. loved this.
overall i really enjoyed this. some songs were more up my alley than others but i liked it enough for a 4.
feels wrong to give bowie only a three but this is just not one of my go-to bowie albums. heroes is incredible but other than that it just falls a bit flat for me.
i was wondering how I, a german who has lived in germany for the first 19 years of her life, had never heard of this band. then i listened to it and understood. i think a 1 is too harsh but this is just really not for me.
first of all great name. second of all this is how i find out who nirvana covered lake of fire from. overall i enjoyed this but didn’t grip me.
oh dolly. this is objectively a good album, it’s just not something i would sit down to listen to on a regular basis.
this kind of rubbed me the wrong way today. too much going on and at the same time not enough.
i don’t know if this is a high two or a low three. i didn’t love it. i also didn’t mind it. but i was also kind of done with it 5 songs before it was over.
