Mental - kind of fun.

OK - very good high notes, a bit tedious at times.

Absolutely bonkers - proper old school english experimental madness. Love it in very small quantities.

Simply Red are a bit of a joke these days, but this album is nice. Mick has a good voice and there's nice soulful/jazzy elements as well as the poppy hits. An enjoyable listen to begin with but got worse throughout. By the end of the album I'd had enough.

Not Morrisseys best..

at it's best it's beautiful soul, but there are a few slow patches and it can feel a bit samey at times too.

An all timer personally, I know it's flawed in a lot of ways. Lyrically it's horrendous at times but for pure funk, grove and melody. I'm absolutely in. 4 stars all day.

Just not my thing, on certain days I can stand it but today is not that day.

This after Bob Dylan is a bit rough - too much rambling country/folk for me.

Good album with some of my favourite Bowie songs on it, I'm not a stan so it's still a 4 star from me. Would give 3.5 if I could.

Some beautiful light breezy bangers, some OK stuff. Solid overall!

It's important to remember how innovative these guys are, by modern standards it is on the simple side. But considering they had very little frame of reference they put out some banging hip hop.

I had never sat down and listened to this album before, and it is really innovative and the harmonies are great. The hits are obviously great but all the way through it's a high quality well made album. Perhaps these guys were unfairly pigeon holed.

Is there a better pop album..?...... I'll wait.... Even if he's a nonce, this album is wall to wall bangers.

It's OK, some of the tunes are great and popular long standing songs. Not hugely my thing though, bit like a weaker daft punk.

Pink Floyd at their best are magnificent, when they're not at their best it's like The Beatles at their worst.

A founding father of hip hop, a good variety of beats and styles throughout the album. Production value and overall audio quality feels a little low, probably a result of it's time. But I must say I did enjoy the first play through.

Decent country vibe. Really great album, had Stevie Nicks style vocals and nice catchy country rhythms. A pleseant surprise.

A little bit one dimensional but did enjoy the listen through. It all sounds quite similar.

A fucking classic, sometimes a little slow on the breakdowns but without doubt a pioneering masterclass.

The second song was enough for me to turn this one off. I'm all for a guitar solo, but an improvised solo on the second track was just not doing it for me.

Innovative and occasionally interesting but doesn't really capture my imagination.

This album is a vibe, and so different to the usual stuff this website has been throwing out. more of this please!

Not Jimi's finest album, it feels a bit of a mix up of all sorts. Obviously the highs are incredible but it's not a coherent overall sound.

absolutely fucking loved this album when I was 13. It's still decent in some places even if Mr Brightside has been stolen by white people for a wedding anthem.

As much as I love their big tracks I hadn't really listened to their albums. Very Radiohead-like quality to their music but heavier. I must admit it was really enjoyable.

Can't imagine how fun that would be to see him live with this.

Perfect working music, feels similar to Endtroducing. Good hip hopy feel and actually also reminds me of Oceans 11 for some reason. All in all I enjoyed.

Such a soft spot for Sam Cooke and the live albums do help you vividly imagine how great it would be to see him.

It was OK, I didn't really notice it while I had it on. So it wasn't offensive nor particularly gripping.

Cult of personality is a fucking banger, the rest is quite 80's phil collins vibe which just isn't my cup of tea..

Might just be a few too many tracks. Disk 2 is levels above Disk 1. Otherwise it's an absolute classic and some brilliance on there, just before Andre fell off the deep end and started doing mad shit.

To my British shame I haven't spent enough time listening to the Beatles actual album catalogue. This is a great album and has some huge songs and also some I haven't heard of that just bought the album together. Good stuff.

Lust for life has to be up there with one of the best album starters of all time? Overall the album was enjoyable for someone who knows his hits but not his back catalogue really at all.

A bit Jeff Buckley on the chords, a bit radiohead, a bit elbow.. but not as good as any of them..

Just love Tribe so much. Not their best album (midnight marauders) but still a belter.

Obviously some of the biggest and best songs ever on here. It's undeniably a classic, to think this is an actual album is beyond impressive. Quirky and fun, inspiring and incredible musicianship. Has to be a 5 star really doesn't it?

CCR are probably my favourite find through 1001 Albums. Could be completely wrong but they feel like proper vietnam era rock and roll. Their music is excellent even if it isn't what I'd usually listen to.

It was OK - don't really know how it could make it into the top 1001 albums of all time..

bit odd to have a christmas song mid album, but it's a good bit of Irish fun! Does get a bit draining over time.. Would be so good to watch them in Temple Bar full of Guinness.

I love NIN but I really have to be in the mood for them otherwise they're quite irritating. Closer is incredible though.. 3.5 stars.

5 stars. Excellent variety and creativity, ranging from introspective poetry to pop tunes and a lot in between. I suspect it's ranking will get tanked because this website seems to favour 80's rock above all else but this is a modern classic.

If this album was 12 tracks it could probably be one of the greats of all time. As it is, there's a lot of absolute nonsense filler twaddle and I'm just struggling to deal with it! 3.5 stars

Great, if not slightly safe rap.. Opened doors to many artists in the future. In isolation this album is fairly middle of the road with some great tunes and nice rhythm/funk but far from incredible.

I love The Jam, they remind me of my parents and their youthful vigor. Such cool, London music. Album itself is quick and punchy, not incredible but a great, fun, album.

This is a hugely influential album, I can see it across so many of my favourite artists. On an individual level I enjoyed it too, a step into more modern music from straight acoustic song writing but with the strong song writing still being the backbone of the music.

They got so charty it's difficult to remember that they were a really cool band when they got started. Really cool vibe and great music.

Just not for me - seems a good song writer but the music didn't gel with me.

One of my all time favourite albums. The variety and the vocal power of Buckley and the tragedy of his death make this such an incredible piece of art.

I've actually really enjoyed the Dylan discoveries on this website. This is another good one, the style and vibe works for me.

Feels like sacralidge but I'm just not a huge Bowie guy.. Some of his stuff is obviously insane and amazing, but so many of his albums feel a bit rinky dink.

Shockingly I've never listened to this before despite how much I love Nirvana. Definnitely worth 4 stars for the excellence of some of the hits, but also how punk it is to release this after Nevermind in a period wher they could have cashed in. Good work.

Really good 2000's hip hop album. yes they're problematic but it does represent the culture at that point in time and you can't deny the groove and melody involved.

Kind of passed me by average, boring rock.

The Buckleys vocal range is extraordinary, you can see how Jeff was influenced by his dads music. As a standalone album I like it, more jazzy than I was expecting and the music really is a platform to let Tim's vocals fly. It didn't kick off through the second half so was a little flat at times.

A borderline perfect album. yes it's vulgar and disgusting and homophobic in places (he's since become best friends with Elton John and regrets his statements) but the quality of the song writing and just how different it was made it such an incredible piece of work. There's a reason nobody messes with slim.

A 3.5 stars, he's an innovator and bought Afro style jazz/beats to the world when it wasn't so popular in main stream culture. but also the album was a wee bit flat in places. 3.5

A bit repetitive at points, but this was an album very much of it's time from a pure rock perspective. Chris Cornells voice is absurdly good, and at their best it's a simply excellent album.
