Vauxhall And I
MorrisseyNot Morrisseys best..
Not Morrisseys best..
Is there a better pop album..?...... I'll wait.... Even if he's a nonce, this album is wall to wall bangers.
A little bit one dimensional but did enjoy the listen through. It all sounds quite similar.
Respectfully - what the fuck?
Mental - kind of fun.
OK - very good high notes, a bit tedious at times.
Absolutely bonkers - proper old school english experimental madness. Love it in very small quantities.
Simply Red are a bit of a joke these days, but this album is nice. Mick has a good voice and there's nice soulful/jazzy elements as well as the poppy hits. An enjoyable listen to begin with but got worse throughout. By the end of the album I'd had enough.
Not Morrisseys best..
Pretty nice Jazz - could do with a bit more groove for my tastes but perfectly listenable.
Don't really like U2 but this album is rammed full of bangers. fair play lads.
His voice done my head in.
Always got time for a bit of NWA.
Absolute belter - want to drive down the highway with the wind in my hair.
Pleasently surprised by this album. Enjoyable level of rock and groove.
As much as I love The Clash at their best, this just wasn't hitting right.
Always have time for The Beatles. Prefer compilations more than full albums generally.
A titanic classic. Absolutely love Jimmy. One of the few 5 stars I have given.
at it's best it's beautiful soul, but there are a few slow patches and it can feel a bit samey at times too.
Not my cuppa, bit 80's, bit poppy.
An all timer personally, I know it's flawed in a lot of ways. Lyrically it's horrendous at times but for pure funk, grove and melody. I'm absolutely in. 4 stars all day.
Just not my thing, on certain days I can stand it but today is not that day.
This after Bob Dylan is a bit rough - too much rambling country/folk for me.
Good album with some of my favourite Bowie songs on it, I'm not a stan so it's still a 4 star from me. Would give 3.5 if I could.
Some beautiful light breezy bangers, some OK stuff. Solid overall!
It's important to remember how innovative these guys are, by modern standards it is on the simple side. But considering they had very little frame of reference they put out some banging hip hop.
Damp lyrics and modest funk - not my scene.
I had never sat down and listened to this album before, and it is really innovative and the harmonies are great. The hits are obviously great but all the way through it's a high quality well made album. Perhaps these guys were unfairly pigeon holed.
Is there a better pop album..?...... I'll wait.... Even if he's a nonce, this album is wall to wall bangers.
I think I get it, it just doesn't hugely appeal to me. Some of it is great, but it's just a bit proggy and 70's for me?
He's great isn't he - some classics on here. All in a good album, not blowing me away. Listenable.
love her but not for me. Bit slow, can admire the voice though!
Not for me. Soft rock, not enough to keep me interested or engaged.
Some absolute fucking belters - an innovative and excellent album. Thanks for telling me to listen to it!
Not for me, a bit simple and too old school. Not enough to keep me captivated.
Middle aged white people dinner party. Can appreciate it's decent music but waaaay too middle of the road.
Good fun!
It's OK, some of the tunes are great and popular long standing songs. Not hugely my thing though, bit like a weaker daft punk.
Pink Floyd at their best are magnificent, when they're not at their best it's like The Beatles at their worst.
Not what I'd usually go for, but I thoroughly enjoyed it. Proper American rock and roll.
Not bad, not really my cup of tea but some good tunes on there..
Too damn sexy.
Really haven't listened to many stones albums, they considerably more experimental than I had imagined. Starting an album with sympathy for the devil is a flex.
She's clearly a great singer but it's just not for me. All over the place and just a bit dull.
Got quite samey but it is a vibe..
A founding father of hip hop, a good variety of beats and styles throughout the album. Production value and overall audio quality feels a little low, probably a result of it's time. But I must say I did enjoy the first play through.
Decent country vibe. Really great album, had Stevie Nicks style vocals and nice catchy country rhythms. A pleseant surprise.
A little bit one dimensional but did enjoy the listen through. It all sounds quite similar.
It was good, but not good enough to encourage me to dive into any more..
Some good shit, some not so good shit. The Weight is so good though.
Respectfully - what the fuck?
just not my cuppa. Wet Radio 1 "rock".
not for me.
A fucking classic, sometimes a little slow on the breakdowns but without doubt a pioneering masterclass.
The second song was enough for me to turn this one off. I'm all for a guitar solo, but an improvised solo on the second track was just not doing it for me.
Innovative and occasionally interesting but doesn't really capture my imagination.
This album is a vibe, and so different to the usual stuff this website has been throwing out. more of this please!
Bit on the random side, but must say I enjoyed it. Similar to The Avalanches.
Absolute fucking banger.
What an incredible album.
90's vibes but pretty meh..
Not for me.
A masterclass in rock. A legendary album for a reason.
It was decent, very cool album, also very short. Absolutely iconic in places.
Not Jimi's finest album, it feels a bit of a mix up of all sorts. Obviously the highs are incredible but it's not a coherent overall sound.
absolutely fucking loved this album when I was 13. It's still decent in some places even if Mr Brightside has been stolen by white people for a wedding anthem.
Pretty decent, just quite distracting when I was trying to focus. not the albums fault even if it was a bit all over the place.
Vocals that are smooth and buttery. Common is a G.
Instant 5 stars. One of my all time favourites.
Actually really good, hadn't heard of her before but it was a great album. Lovely voice, some Jeff Buckley notes in there too. Very innovative for 1976!
Love the jazziness but did start getting fatigued, but I think that's on me.
Iconic. So many nonsense lyrics but the groove and the funk and the nostalgia factor give this one 4 stars.
Not bad, it's for sure not my thing necessarily but still good music in places.
So many iconic songs I grew up with, big fan of the drumming and bass. Overall just an enjoyable album.
Good fun and super innovative of it's time but not something I'll regularly go back and listen to.
Yeah not bad.
Fully had never heard of Big Star before, not too bad. Pretty generic american rock..
A classic, a legend.
As much as I love their big tracks I hadn't really listened to their albums. Very Radiohead-like quality to their music but heavier. I must admit it was really enjoyable.
Can't imagine how fun that would be to see him live with this.
Perfect working music, feels similar to Endtroducing. Good hip hopy feel and actually also reminds me of Oceans 11 for some reason. All in all I enjoyed.
Pretty good, experimental vibes. Not something I'll go back for.
Just not a springsteen guy.
I am a big fan of the Smiths, a 3.5 star for me. Drops to a 3 I think.
Didn't finish it, was doing OK before I got to the end.
bit corny in places and then some undeniable greatness. A hard one to rate.
Respectfully - what the fuck?
Such a soft spot for Sam Cooke and the live albums do help you vividly imagine how great it would be to see him.
It was OK, I didn't really notice it while I had it on. So it wasn't offensive nor particularly gripping.
Cult of personality is a fucking banger, the rest is quite 80's phil collins vibe which just isn't my cup of tea..
Might just be a few too many tracks. Disk 2 is levels above Disk 1. Otherwise it's an absolute classic and some brilliance on there, just before Andre fell off the deep end and started doing mad shit.
To my British shame I haven't spent enough time listening to the Beatles actual album catalogue. This is a great album and has some huge songs and also some I haven't heard of that just bought the album together. Good stuff.
Really not my cup of tea.
Never done Neil Young really before, like robert plant and a more folky Led Zep. Enjoy.
got pretty samey but quite liked the vibe..
Not my cup of tea. Poppy generic pop.
Bit annoying, had high hopes.
Think I just missed the boat on this one and it now feels a little bit dated. Some of it I get and think is good, others are a bit too power ballad for me.
Lust for life has to be up there with one of the best album starters of all time? Overall the album was enjoyable for someone who knows his hits but not his back catalogue really at all.
A bit Jeff Buckley on the chords, a bit radiohead, a bit elbow.. but not as good as any of them..
Totally OK 80's/90's poppy rock.. Will never listen to this album again.
Never listening to Kate Bush loads but I totally get it, amazing depth and incredibly experimental and innovative. Some absolute incredible bangers and look at that fucking album cover!
