Mylo

Not at all what I was expecting. Never heard of Mylo but some of it reminds me of Daft Punk. I like Daft Punk, I like this album, 4/5.

Mercury Rev
3/5
Interesting. Honestly decent if you’re in the mood for something a little different. Some bad weird songs but I think most of them were pretty solid.
Gary Numan
3/5
I like this one. Very synthy and kind of feels like the forefront of electronic music. It’s only getting a 3 because it isn’t a 4 but is decently close.
The Roots
4/5
This is fire. Hadn’t listened to the roots just knew they were Jimmy Fallons band. Shame on me.
Count Basie & His Orchestra
3/5
This made the voices go away. Jazzy.
Tangerine Dream
1/5
Weird. Wouldn’t listen to again.
4/5
Knights of Cydonia one of the all time guitar hero songs. Had listened to most of the songs before but good album.
The Go-Go's
3/5
Not really what I’d listen to day-to-day but is a classic from the 80s. Other than we got the best favorite song was probably Lust To Love.
The Specials
2/5
The music is fine the vocals weren’t great. I was thinking “when will I rate something 2 stars?” And this takes the cake. It’s not unlistenable but it’s not quite average, a perfect ⭐️⭐️.
N.E.R.D
3/5
Love Pharrell but always thought he wasn’t great on the vocals. Just preference. Obviously production off the charts. ⭐️⭐️⭐️
LL Cool J
2/5
OG. I like LL but not really a great album.
The Jesus And Mary Chain
2/5
This wouldn’t be so bad if half the songs didn’t have insufferable screeching/white noise. 2.
Ghostface Killah
4/5
Probably like a 3.5 but I’ll round up because there are some bangers in here.
The Verve
4/5
Dexys Midnight Runners
3/5
Good. Classic. Nothing too bad but nothing revolutionary.
Hookworms
3/5
First song is amazing, second one is also good but the rest is kinda hit or miss for me.
Giant Sand

Happy Mondays

GZA

If I rated fish scale a 4 then this gets a 4 fs.

4/8 songs available on Spotify so can’t really give an entirely fair rating. The ones that were available were good though.
Bill Evans Trio
2/5
Took a second to realize this was 6 songs but there were multiple takes of some. I mean it’s not awful to listen to but I will not be returning to listen to the ol Bill Evans trio anytime soon. Maybe when I’m 80.
The Magnetic Fields
2/5
Not completely unlistenable but 3 hours and 69 songs? Yeah I’m good.

Didnt do much for me. I hate this 2-3 range because the music wasnt bad but I think a 3 is something I could maybe see myself coming back to. This I cannot so its getting 2.
Charles Mingus
2/5
Jazz is cool. This is a bit cacophonous.
Teenage Fanclub

Golden Skans WASNT in FIFA????? I enjoyed this ⭐⭐⭐⭐

Kanye West
4/5
I miss the old Kan ... yeah never mind man where did my goat go
Talking Heads
3/5
If every song was Once in a Lifetime good then it would have been a 4 or 5 but there were so many noises it scrambled my brain for most of the album.
Alice In Chains
3/5
Dont think I have ever listened to them on purpose but this was actually pretty good. Its a 3 because I probably wont come back but its very close to being a 4.

WORDS AND GUITAR AAaaaAAoooAAAOOooAA
Pink Floyd
5/5
I was not really aware of the story behind this album - have never done a deep dive on Pink Floyd. Read up on it, listened to it again, and wow. Also THE guitar solo.
3/5
Sonic Youth
2/5
Kinda got worse as it went on, started ok.
Kings of Leon
3/5
I didnt love this album before and another listen didnt really help that either.
Al Green
3/5
Röyksopp
4/5
I was torn between a 3 and 4. I am going with 4 because I actually really liked some parts of this and could easily see this becoming a background, zone out, album. Reminds me a little bit of Entroducing by DJ Shadow which I enjoy as well.
The Dave Brubeck Quartet
4/5
I could not help myself from tapping my foot or doin a lil dance while listening to this.
Ali Farka Touré
2/5

Yeah it was good - much better than some of the stuff on this list but not overly memorable.
Goldfrapp

Lambchop
2/5
Cool
Bert Jansch
2/5
Talking Heads
3/5
One of the all time unique bands. I didnt love this one but I think it shows bits and pieces of their best work they just didnt have it yet. That sort of psychedelic sound is there but the rest didnt feel quite as great.
JAY Z
5/5
God the production is so good on this. K***e W**t was always a better producer than a rapper but this is nuts + Just Blaze + Timbaland + Eminem?? This album would go nuclear if it was released today. No question, one of the great rap albums of all time.
Neil Young

5/5
Going to take a stab at rating each song:
Shout 5/5
The Working Hour 4/5 for the saxophone...good god
Everybody Wants To Rule The World 5/5 for obvious reasons
Mothers Talk 4/5
I Believe 3/5 good but elevator music
Broken 4/5
*the transition here 6/5*
Head Over Heels / Broken 5/5 was a pleasure to listen to for the first time
Listen 3/5 sort of a letdown of an end but also feels like a cooldown so not all bad
Averages to a 4/5, I think I may go 5/5 because I like the sound and appreciate it only being 8 songs, feels like the right amount to accomplish what they were trying to accomplish. In other words, these honkeys were indeed cooking.
Drive Like Jehu
2/5
This could have been 30 min but even that might be a stretch. Not horrible I just dont love being yelled at for an hour.
The Sugarcubes
2/5
Jimi Hendrix
4/5
The splitting between L/R channels would normally bother me but I think it is used so well here and doesn't span every song on the album. Hadn't listened to this front to back before but I am glad it popped up today, so good.
MGMT
4/5
Nostalgic is probably making this a bias rating but I love this album.
4/5
Did I absolutely love it, no. Does it deserve a high rating because it is to the point, and a true classic, yes.

Ian Dury
1/5
The Sonics
2/5
Not awesome
Grateful Dead
4/5
Conflicted on this one. A studio album from the dead feels like caging a bird that wants to fly. That being said, its still good, but if you know anything about the dead this album could have been the same 10 songs and 3 hours long.
Aretha Franklin
4/5
One of the greatest singers of all time, no question.
Elliott Smith

The Triffids
2/5
I didnt think it was all that bad until I realized there were two parts and it was almost 2 hours long. Not doing all that.
The xx
4/5
I am giving this one the benefit of the doubt. It is slow, simple, and similar across the board but for this one I feel like that could be flipped and called calm, easy, and consistent.
Billie Holiday
3/5
One of the great vocalists.
SAULT
2/5
Randy Newman
2/5
I can only listen to someone sing about Ohio for so long.
Pearl Jam
3/5
Frank Ocean
5/5
This was teetering between a 4 and a 5 but who am I kidding. I have always loved songs from this album (pyramids, lost, pink matter) so its getting the benefit of the doubt.
Fleet Foxes
4/5
Billy Bragg
3/5
Stephen Stills
4/5
Extra star for the album cover
Justin Timberlake
3/5
Was sadly underwhelmed by this. This album has some of my favorite JT songs on it, probably up there with best pop songs all time, but then has some stinkers. Sort of feels like every song is a single and isnt part of a larger piece of work.
Stan Getz
4/5
Often, if I listen to something and sort of forget I am listening to something thats a bad thing. In this case, I think its a good thing. Milton Banana.

Genuinely liked this more than I thought I would.
Echo And The Bunnymen
2/5
My Bloody Valentine
1/5
Every song has been taken off Spotify except for Feed Me With Your Kiss. I cant really give it a fair rating but from the one song I listened to it wasnt great.
Emerson, Lake & Palmer

Moby
4/5
I am a bit of a sucker for this kind of thing. Is it really this good? Maybe not but I like it.
Digital Underground
2/5
Not horrible, super outdated, crazy to see what other hip hop was being made around the same time and how superior most of that is to this.
Ryan Adams
2/5

Was really hoping this would be better because it was just a few years before Wu Tang but its a lot of yelling, ad lips from flava flav (lol), and yelling. I do think the skits were clever but I dont include those in the ratings.

Have been waiting for this one. I try so hard to like it and I just cant. If the beauty of this album is hidden in the lyrics I straight up cant understand them or that is not the case. I wouldnt say I am the best picker upper on good lyricism but if the music itself bores me I cant get myself to tune into the lyrics.

This is seriously one of the best albums ever created. It just feels like a whole story from start to finish with seamless transitions and the last two songs working together to complete the thought. Borderline flawless.

Individually ranking these songs is unfair because they all mesh together and some songs are simply used as the connecting pieces.

I like the review that compares this to English football. There is something amazing here but I just dont think its for me, though I can appreciate the art.

This would have been a 4 if I was better at Spanish, just because I couldnt really get much from the lyrics, I am sure they are great. I enjoyed this very much musically though.
