1001 Albums Summary

Interesting. Honestly decent if you’re in the mood for something a little different. Some bad weird songs but I think most of them were pretty solid.

I like this one. Very synthy and kind of feels like the forefront of electronic music. It’s only getting a 3 because it isn’t a 4 but is decently close.

This is fire. Hadn’t listened to the roots just knew they were Jimmy Fallons band. Shame on me.

Knights of Cydonia one of the all time guitar hero songs. Had listened to most of the songs before but good album.

Not really what I’d listen to day-to-day but is a classic from the 80s. Other than we got the best favorite song was probably Lust To Love.

The music is fine the vocals weren’t great. I was thinking “when will I rate something 2 stars?” And this takes the cake. It’s not unlistenable but it’s not quite average, a perfect ⭐️⭐️.

Love Pharrell but always thought he wasn’t great on the vocals. Just preference. Obviously production off the charts. ⭐️⭐️⭐️

Still holds up. This is like the public enemy album I got 2 days ago but so much better. I wasnt aware of the sampling and beats on this. I Aint Tha 1 is so good, Gangsta Gangsta, the list goes on I was pleasantly surprised.

I was not really aware of the story behind this album - have never done a deep dive on Pink Floyd. Read up on it, listened to it again, and wow. Also THE guitar solo.

Kinda got worse as it went on, started ok.

I didnt love this album before and another listen didnt really help that either.

I was torn between a 3 and 4. I am going with 4 because I actually really liked some parts of this and could easily see this becoming a background, zone out, album. Reminds me a little bit of Entroducing by DJ Shadow which I enjoy as well.

I could not help myself from tapping my foot or doin a lil dance while listening to this.

Yeah it was good - much better than some of the stuff on this list but not overly memorable.

Cool

One of the all time unique bands. I didnt love this one but I think it shows bits and pieces of their best work they just didnt have it yet. That sort of psychedelic sound is there but the rest didnt feel quite as great.

God the production is so good on this. K***e W**t was always a better producer than a rapper but this is nuts + Just Blaze + Timbaland + Eminem?? This album would go nuclear if it was released today. No question, one of the great rap albums of all time.

I want to give this a 4 so bad but because I dont speak great espanol it is sadly getting a 3. It wouldnt even be better in english - I just wont revisit it.

Going to take a stab at rating each song: Shout 5/5 The Working Hour 4/5 for the saxophone...good god Everybody Wants To Rule The World 5/5 for obvious reasons Mothers Talk 4/5 I Believe 3/5 good but elevator music Broken 4/5 *the transition here 6/5* Head Over Heels / Broken 5/5 was a pleasure to listen to for the first time Listen 3/5 sort of a letdown of an end but also feels like a cooldown so not all bad Averages to a 4/5, I think I may go 5/5 because I like the sound and appreciate it only being 8 songs, feels like the right amount to accomplish what they were trying to accomplish. In other words, these honkeys were indeed cooking.

This could have been 30 min but even that might be a stretch. Not horrible I just dont love being yelled at for an hour.

The splitting between L/R channels would normally bother me but I think it is used so well here and doesn't span every song on the album. Hadn't listened to this front to back before but I am glad it popped up today, so good.

Nostalgic is probably making this a bias rating but I love this album.

Did I absolutely love it, no. Does it deserve a high rating because it is to the point, and a true classic, yes.

Conflicted on this one. A studio album from the dead feels like caging a bird that wants to fly. That being said, its still good, but if you know anything about the dead this album could have been the same 10 songs and 3 hours long.

I didnt think it was all that bad until I realized there were two parts and it was almost 2 hours long. Not doing all that.

I am giving this one the benefit of the doubt. It is slow, simple, and similar across the board but for this one I feel like that could be flipped and called calm, easy, and consistent.

This was teetering between a 4 and a 5 but who am I kidding. I have always loved songs from this album (pyramids, lost, pink matter) so its getting the benefit of the doubt.

Was sadly underwhelmed by this. This album has some of my favorite JT songs on it, probably up there with best pop songs all time, but then has some stinkers. Sort of feels like every song is a single and isnt part of a larger piece of work.

Often, if I listen to something and sort of forget I am listening to something thats a bad thing. In this case, I think its a good thing. Milton Banana.

Every song has been taken off Spotify except for Feed Me With Your Kiss. I cant really give it a fair rating but from the one song I listened to it wasnt great.

This is seriously one of the best albums ever created. It just feels like a whole story from start to finish with seamless transitions and the last two songs working together to complete the thought. Borderline flawless.
