I have not thought about this band since they has a few songs on the alternative rock station for a few weeks in 1995. Totally forgettable, mediocre, and needlessly loud.

Elton John

Tiny Dancer is a banger. The rest of the album is meh. Sound like Bsides to better Elton John songs.

‘Piece of my heart’ is great as is the Robert Crumb designed album cover and of course Janis Joplin’s pipes. BUt the album as a whole and most of the songs are not really my jam. Disappointed by the gover of the Gershwin classic ‘Summertime’.
Radiohead

Rolling stone top 500 - 42
I remember when this first came out I and everyone else thought it was on of the defining and best albums of the era. Hearing over 25 plus year later it does not hold help fantastically. A bit much.
Bob Dylan
3/5
Rolling stone 181
A good early Dylan collection. What more to say
Van Morrison
4/5
Rolling Stone list 120
The most Van Morrison of Van Morrison’s albums. The song ‘Everyone’ is a banger and there is no real filler.
A solid album but not quite legendary.
The Beach Boys
3/5
Rolling Stone 466
The first half of this album is peak Beach Boys the beginning of their more ‘interesting’ period. The second half more mellow and slow dancey really lags and all kind of sounds the same.
Joni Mitchell
3/5
Rolling Stone 258
A good Joni Mitchell album but as a whole a minor work, not very memorable moments or songs.
Electric Light Orchestra
3/5
I don’t know. ELO have kind of an interesting sound and there is nothing wrong with this album but it all just seems rather empty and forgettable. Haven’t thought about them since I finished the Blum 20 minutes ago.
Abdullah Ibrahim
3/5
A perfectly fine smooth jazz album. Nothing special but good for background music at a dinner party or other such thing.
Rocket From The Crypt
2/5
I have not thought about this band since they has a few songs on the alternative rock station for a few weeks in 1995. Totally forgettable, mediocre, and needlessly loud.
The 13th Floor Elevators
3/5
A good psychedelic album. Nothing special as weird or inaccessible as some of the reviews say it is. Could not hear the electric jug sadly.
Neil Young
4/5
Rolling stone 500 albums -90
One of the most Neil Young of Neil Yooung’s albums. No filler and some great songs. No notes.
Arctic Monkeys
3/5
Rolling stone albums 373
A perfectly fine rock and roll album, Nothing special. A bit punk tinged and gnarly but hardly memorable or special.
Madness
4/5
Why I decided to do this list. All I knew was the song ‘Our House’. This is a really banger of an album and is a good mix of ska and 80s pop. Worth checking out and relistening.
Carole King

Billy Bragg
4/5
A good meaty folk album. Bragg has always been on my radar but I was surprised with the songwriting quality. Not as political as I thought it would be. Not sure why other reviews are complaining about the vocals. Sound fine to me.
David Bowie
2/5
When this came out I as well as everyone else thought this Bowie swan song was one of his best albums. But with time and the veneer of sentimentality wearing of this is not a great album. The weakest part is Bowie’s vocals which really hinder many of the songs.

A fantastic thumbsucking/breakup album. Really mellow but Becks sad vocals and catchy melodies make this really something unique.
