My poor ears

Too many random noises not enough actual music

proto-grunge, sellainen cobain äänensävy kaverilla paitsi kuulostaa huomattavasti ärsyttävämmälle sekä musiikki on melodioiltaan ja produktioiltaan täyttä kuraa eikä tosiaan kovin kuunneltavaa musiikkia nyt tullut tänäänkään vastaan, huonoa jatkumoa pidetään yllä tällähetkellä kun ei sinne keskiarvon positiivisen puolelle oikeen saada yhtään tavaraa... dinosaurukset kuolivat 65 miljoonaa vuotta sitten, ehkä juniorin aika on nyt... antaa kuolla.. ottakaa pois listoilta.. ottakaa pois sivuilta... haudatkaa syvälle.. ja unohtakaa.. unohtakaa lopullisesti... nimittäin toinen albumi tältä ryhmältä on ehkä kaksi liikaa, toivotaan että ei joudu uudestaan kokemaan näiltä herrasukoilta lisää.. kracked

What a mismatch of vocals to music. How do you sound so low energy and have such intense tempo behind you? It also manages to meander for way too long in places, and sometimes throws in loud jarring noise out of nowhere (The Lung in particular). This put me in a bad mood.

1001 albums to die before listening to. How is there so much grunge on this list. Please… make the grunge stop. PPLEASE. Potentially the worst album I’ve listened to so far.

Noise rock. ¿Pero qué broma es esta? Un 1.

Completely shit

I appreciate all the positive reviews of this album, but for me it was a real chore to listen to.

music is mostly o.k., but i don't like the singing .

Punk, laut, 1987 -> 1

Terrible

No thank you

Mest bara oljud i mina små öron.

Too busy. Noisy.

Not for me

What the fuck did I just listen to? It felt like I was listening to a group of teenagers play in their parents garage. The singer didn't add anything, the guitar was decent but felt more loud at times than enjoyable. It wasn't all negative though, the album was only 38 minutes so it ends before your ears can bleed.

Noise. Solid 1 on a scale of 5.

Very loud for the sake of being loud. Very whiney. Very screechy. Did not enjoy

I would’ve been able to enjoy a song if they turned down the distortion in atleast 1 song

Dinosaur Jr has always been a hard no for me. Listened to this album, and I still feel the same. 😂 I have a lot of friends that are big fans, so I've been exposed to their music... a lot. Always sounded like off-key noise to me. 🤣 #sorrynotsorry I'm also usually a big fan of covers, but not this one (Just Like Heaven), nothing heavenly about it. 😏

Una verga atómica.

Gear: DCA ÆON 2 Noire Artwork: 🧑‍🤝‍🧑✍️🖼️ Production: 📢🗑️💩 Music: 🤔⁉️🤮 Rating: 🦖(🦖)/5

Pre-grunge grunge. That would make them pretty significant if they could have pulled it off.....which they didn't. Hipster logic: this sucks, but I'll say that I love it so that I can claim to have liked it first. If it becomes popular, then I was the first to like it for what it is, and not as a bandwagon fan. If it never catches on, then I can bask in my superiority complex of recognizing genius that the peasantry just isn't sophisticated enough to understand.

Just don't get how this can be on this list. Only decent moment was the cover of the Cure and even it is shite.

Ugh. Im so tired of getting rock albums from white anglo bands. Enough!!! Great guitar, horrible horrible vocals. (barely) standout track: just like heaven

Not my cup of tea

lo-fi mess. I understand it and the point of time it came out, but I'm no longer interested in Dinosaur Jr.

Unbelievably bad.

Nothing like the foos

Boring

Grunge

It's as if they're trying to compensate for the lack of creativity with excessive noise.

Could not get into this. Musically I liked Just Like Heaven but the vocals are… not good.

Mah, roba vecchia e diventata vecchia

Absolutely not.

Sounds good until the singing starts - sounds like th singer is in pain. Spotifiy played Warsaw by Joy Division song after playing this album and in comparison it seemed like a happy song.

No improvement over Bug

I like some dinosaur jr but not this album at all. Has the punk rock sound that this list is littered with.

1/5. Not the vibe at all. Nothing stood out and it all sounds like a hot mess. I’ll try it once more at a later time but just no good at all.

OK, going to try doing live thoughts today: Track one - A lot of screaming to open this album. OK, there is the singer. He sounds... he sounds like he isn't a good singer. Like seriously this is like 4th of July karaoke. Here come the guitars again, it is just off putting. Track two - Yep this guy just can't sing. More annoying guitars. OK, I can't do this anymore... Is this just on this list because it was so different from popular music of it's time? Like how does that make it essential? Because it influenced others? And so I need that context to understand great music? There just doesn't seem to be a lot of rhyme or reason right now to some of these albums. Track three - The vocals still SUCK, but the music I am starting to understand a little bit. Nope nevermind, they went off the deep end. Man, just when I thought we were getting somewhere. Track four - Whatever Track five - Maybe we are starting to get somewhere. This sounds like a song that may have commercial appeal, which is actually more than I can say about the others. Track six - I like the rhythm and guitars and drums in this song, but man the vocals... And now we're spamming the whammy bar again and just making noise. Fuck this song. It feels like track three all over again. Track seven - What is this? How did it get on this album? Sounds nothing like the other songs. Track eight to the end - Nope. Sorry. I'm done. Overall, I think the word that sums this up is raw and annoying. There are pieces here. Snippets that would lay the foundation for the alternative we got in the 90s, but there was just so much other shit to wade through to find it. This guy cannot sing. Like at all. And it is distracting as fuck to try and get through him doing it on this album.

These fuckers couldn't even do a decent cover version of a Cure song.

Not for me.

Very meh

Not for me.

Typical generic punk rock,very boring

“Kevin Shields of My Bloody Valentine has named the album, among others, as an influence for his band's seminal You Made Me Realise EP.” What an accolade *rolls eyes*.

I didn't enjoy this at all, I couldn't even finish it. 1/5 stars.

Eh. Pretty much garbarge.

crap. awful. couldn't manage to get all the way through

- WHAT

Nope, didn’t like that. Tuneless singing and similar sounding tracks. Wouldn’t listen again *

Not for me

I didn't like it. It sounded like a bunch of noise, not music.

Loses a mark for butchering the cure

This was pretty bad. Singing was drony, instruments all over the place, it was noise

franchement aucun intéret dans cette musique mal chanté

This started off as a four based on the year and how influential I could tell it was on the grunge scene that was about to emerge. But the more I listened the lower the score got, god is this unpleasant on the ears.

shit, its like mediocre and then at some parts it sounds like a construction crew walked into the studio, not a fan

a torturous experience. sitting through this makes me feel less bad for skipping the other dinosaur jr album on this list (did we really need 2?)
