An album where I often was thinking: "Wtf is this?! I love it"
Not the most easily digestible music, but always surprising

Chappell Roan

I heard the name of this very recent pop- artist several times, but did not really listen to her music.
I was pleasantly surprised, and I get why she 's so popular right now

I got a lot of 'The National' vibes, but less sad. Never heard of this band, but glad you made me discover them.

Steven Wilson
4/5
interesting progrock album. Lyricaly, I had a harder time to empathize with the story of the album. But the music is very good.
King Tubby
3/5
Very relaxing music to listen while working. But not exactly some album I would play in my spare time
Maldita Vecindad Y Los Hijos Del 5to. Patio
4/5
I don't speak a word Spanish. But I really liked the energy and the 'ska'-ness of this album
Madvillain
2/5
Hated some songs, like 'Rainbows'. Could tolerate some others. This is not an album for me
Daniel Bélanger
4/5
Maybe not the best singer, but the songs are nice and there are some beautiful arangements
Pedro The Lion
5/5
That Seattle grunge sound is never far away. The rawness and darkness of this album is very intriguing. 'Magazine' and 'Second Best' are amazing, strong songs. Nice discovery!
Susanne Sundfør
5/5
You get teleported to some magical, norse fairytale with angelic singing. Lovely album to dream away
Weezer
5/5
It's a shame this album is not included in the books. The energy this album contains is insane. And it includes some timeless songs.
Couldn't resist to sing along most of the songs
The Weeknd
2/5
I remember seeing advertisements for this album on television. Therefore, I find this way too 'in the face'.
Also, the excess of way to obvious autotune bothers me a bit too much.
I bobbed my head on 'Blinding Lights', but that's almost it.
Godspeed You! Black Emperor
4/5
Although I like some post-rock - and in that cause longer songs - from time to time, these songs seem to be much more split up in distinct parts. It might be a creatieve choice, but in my opinion they would stand better as individual songs.
On the other hand: The music is very good. Some good build-ups, lovely use of the violin. Very beautiful atmosphere
Nuyorican Soul
3/5
Some latin, some jazz, and even some disco. It's a fun album, but not really worth a re-listen for me
Haley Heynderickx
5/5
The first few songs were lovely, timid songs. It felt like everything fits good together.
The second part of the album is more uptempo. And in another way, everything fits too!
Precious little surprise
Chromatics
1/5
I found this album quite dull and boring. And then 'Tick of the Clock' came on. Multiple times I thought: "What is this song?", "Why is this even a song?", "Why is this 15 minutes long?!?"...
This 1 song completely broke the album for me, and is the main reason of giving this the lowest rate
INXS
4/5
Another classic album for which it is a shame it's not included in the books. With 4 successfull hitsongs it would deserve its place.
They sure love the reverb in the vocals. And the guitar riffs are very funky.
Garbage
4/5
Didn't feel a connection with this album, but there are some good songs
Status Quo
4/5
Some lesser known songs from Status Quo. The first song had me thinking it would sound all alike. But to my surprise, this album was more diverse than expected
First Aid Kit
5/5
Lovely folk music.
Arctic Monkeys
2/5
I remember listening this album when it came out. I don't really like this 'crooner'-version of Arctic Monkeys. And now, at the re-listen, it didn't change that much.
Louis Armstrong
3/5
2/5
This album was a 50/50 for me. The 'heavier' songs I did not like. But the more dreamy ones were okay. But I had a little struggle to get to the end of this album
Procol Harum
3/5
Not particulary special
Jellyfish
5/5
Loved this album. Very poppy sound, without deviating too much from the traditional rock-vibes. Some folk and big-band parts are to be found also. I'll keep this one in my favorites!
THE SPORTS
4/5
Pretty genereic, but enjoyable
TOOL
5/5
Amazing album! Atypical rythms, loud but hypnotizing
Childish Gambino
2/5
I had the urge to stop this album during the first 2 songs. But as always, I push through the end. Luckily there was the occasional song which I liked. But not a high ranking album for me
Frank Zappa
3/5
Half an hour of weirdness. But it kinda okay
Kaizers Orchestra
4/5
I don't understand Norwegian. But I liked the mood and sound of the music very much.

Unbelievable this album is not included in the books! Such iconic songs that meant so much for the punk-pop scene.
Type O Negative
2/5
Not my cup of tea...
Alex Cameron
3/5
Mixed feelings about this one. Music was alright, but I lost attention from time to time
Ian McDonald
3/5
Very oldschool progrock. It seems more accessible than some of the newer stuff.
Amadou & Mariam
4/5
Many summer vibes. And the influence of Manu Chao is clearly present. I enjoyed listening to this one
The Postal Service
3/5
Very gloomy music, and the sound of Death Cab is never far away. Although I found this album a little more longwinding. Not exactly boring, but it could be better

3/5
Funky, but not memorable
Elmer Gantry's Velvet Opera
3/5

blink-182
5/5
The drivers in traffic were witness of how much I enjoyed this album. So many sing-along moments.
The Decemberists
5/5
It's like a rock opera fairytale. Usually I listen these albums during my car commute. And so I did with this. But it gave me the urge to listen it again, with the lyrics in front of me to really get the full story.
Sublime
3/5
I liked the ska songs, but the more 'punky' ones were lacking something
Bran Van 3000
3/5
The first song striked some sparks of recognition. The rest of the album was a little bit of hit and miss. At some points I lost my attention

3/5
Not bad, but it had nothing much extraordinary

Very psychedelic

4/5
Intresting style. Quite enjoyed this album
Stromae
5/5
Formidable!! How Stromae puts dark and depressive lyrics on a heavy house beat is incredible. And the variation of ballads and more dancable songs is stunning.
That Handsome Devil
3/5
Very... Interesting. Sometimes I got the feeling the vocals didn't match the music. But it ain't a bad album
Jóhann Jóhannsson
5/5
Don't know what it is with me and Icelandic music. But Björk, Sigur Rós, Dadi Freyr, Of Monster and Men,... All of them seem to fall in my favor. And this one is no exception! It sounds magical, atmospheric, intimid and grotesque all at once! Loved it!

4/5
Nice and unique style. Good album

Good as background music
Thee Oh Sees
5/5
Very heavy indeed! The energy just splashes in your face, even though you're not in the live audience! Amazing wall of sound too. Good choice!

1/5
To me, this one sounded like a bad busker on a London street. Singing was awful, guitar sounded too out of tune to me... Very chaotic. Although I liked the songwriting, I had a hard time listening to this album

This band was completely unknown to me. And too bad they are splitting up, because I LOVED this music!
Very atmospheric and dreamy, but some heavier parts too. The vocals are amazing. And the complete sound of it just touched me in a way I can't really describe
Songs: Ohia
4/5
Mostly dark and sad songs. Music and lyrics fit well together
Alexisonfire
2/5
Mostly with (post-)hardcore, I like the music, and not the screaming vocals. This one is no exception.
But the music isn't that great on this one too.
So not a high score for Alexisonfire
Talking Heads
4/5
Cool live album
Sports Team
4/5
Very energetic. Vocals could be a bit better. But overall, good album
System Of A Down
5/5
Hell yeah!
Political criticism, combined with absolute nonsense, on the notes of the most energetic metal music you've ever heard!
Every song is just a (head)banger

Bon Iver
5/5
Typical Bon Iver sound. I love it
The Breeders
4/5
Cool rock music
TOOL

Okay-ish. But would not be a go-to to listen again

Good as background music at work. Not something I would actively listen to

3/5
Faso is not typically a genre I know well. Not my kind of thing, so it seems.
It is culturally relevant, so that's a plus
King Gizzard & The Lizard Wizard
5/5
If TOOL is too heavy for you. Listen to King Gizzard & The Lizard Wizard. Maybe they are even more inventive and a tat more psychedelic. But I see some parallels.
Fantastic album
"Weird Al" Yankovic
4/5
Such a talenten guy. And funky too
Deafheaven
5/5
The album wouldn't have you guessing this is such a heavy album. It goes all over the place with the heaviness and the pace, but it just all fits.

Paramore
4/5
A trip dow memory lane. Altough, I did remember this to be somewhat heavier. It's maybe just a little bit too soft
Bo Burnham
4/5
When Inside came out on Netflix, it was clearly a masterpiece. However, it is as much a visual experience as it is in the words of the story. The songs are still good and funny. The vocals crisp clear (as it should for a comedy album, you have to be able to follow along well). But I feel that by audio only, I'm missing something.
