Popular Reviews

Guero by Beck

I really like this. Had a lot of Beck on here and this is the best I’ve heard so far.

Back In Black by AC/DC

There may be many things AC/DC are not, but one thing they really ARE is fun. And sometimes that’s just what you need. Take my stars…

Kollaps by Einstürzende Neubauten

This is audio performance art. It doesn’t have to make sense and you don’t have to immediately understand what it’s all about, for it to get to you. From what I’ve read, if you saw them live you also got the visual performance art to go with it - which I’m sad, but also relieved(?) to be missing out on. Ultimately this was interesting, and engaging enough that I listened all the way through - which can’t be said of some of the very mid, bland, inoffensive pop albums on this list. So I’m giving it more stars than it seems most people have done.

The Velvet Underground by The Velvet Underground
Mar 30 2023

Very chilled and relaxing - which is really nice if you’re in need of this vibe. I thought I couldn’t stand Lou Reed - but it turns out that’s just certain songs I’ve heard too many times over. Overall I enjoyed this one.

Nice guitar stuff on here - not a big fan of the guy’s voice and style overall, but this was easy to listen to.

Parachutes by Coldplay

Play by Moby
Oct 03 2024

God I forgot how good Moby is. Delicious

In Our Heads by Hot Chip
Oct 09 2024

Bangers at the front, got less interesting towards the last few tracks. Still there’s some tasty stuff here, and I think Hot Chip are generally kind of underrated. Deserves another listen.

B-52's by The B-52's
Oct 10 2024
Ogden's Nut Gone Flake by Small Faces
Oct 11 2024

This brand of 60’s “happy little trip” psychedelic rock just doesn’t do anything for me. I think you had to be there, but I wasn’t born until 24 years after this release.

OK Computer by Radiohead
Oct 15 2024

I appreciate how good this is, and how accomplished. However, it’s Radiohead so it’s depressing. It didn’t help that I listened to it while driving in a heavy fog/rain, at night, as the seasons are turning into a very damp autumn, but holy Jebus the melancholy is thick. I’ll give it another listen (probably many more), but the way it made me feel makes me reluctant to give it 5 stars.

Oct 21 2024

I love this album. I first heard it aged 14 or 15, making my way through my parents’ cd collection. Back then I had a habit of listening to an album on my Walkman, in bed, to help me get to sleep. Lying there in the dark noticing every detail of the music. This was one of my favourites from doing that. Lemme tell you, it was such a joy to come back to it 15 years later and find I love it even more. Not a single track I’d be inclined to skip. Is it uncool to like REM? I don’t know and I don’t care, this slaps as the kids say these days. ;)

Oct 22 2024

Got a bit samey after a few songs, but I kind of enjoyed the old-times Wild West feels for what they were.

Mellon Collie and the Infinite Sadness by The Smashing Pumpkins
Oct 28 2024

Lovely in some places, interesting and engaging in places, a bit too much Billy Corgan in others. I enjoy the instrumentals very much but I find his voice a little too whiny and OTT at times and it ruins things a bit. Also 2 hours of smashing pumpkins is a bit too much smashing pumpkins for me. Overall I like this album, in small doses; the whole thing is too long.

Off The Wall by Michael Jackson
Oct 31 2024

Not my favourite among MJ’s work.

Third by Portishead
Nov 07 2024
Tusk by Fleetwood Mac
Nov 11 2024
Highly Evolved by The Vines
Nov 15 2024

Liked this more than I thought I would

Back In Black by AC/DC
Nov 18 2024

There may be many things AC/DC are not, but one thing they really ARE is fun. And sometimes that’s just what you need. Take my stars…

Dec 12 2024

Not sure how to feel about this one

Rocks by Aerosmith
Mar 14 2025
Dookie by Green Day
Mar 17 2025
The Wall by Pink Floyd
Mar 18 2025

Such a classic, never fails to bring out all of the emotions. Couldn’t quite stick it all the way through the 3 discs so I pretended there were only two and this was perfection.

Slippery When Wet by Bon Jovi
Mar 20 2025

Some bangers on here but it turns out my tolerance for Bon Jovi ends after about 4 songs

California by American Music Club
Apr 02 2025

Some lovely moments and I enjoyed the instrumentals a lot in places, but this brand of almost-country, Nick Cave meets the Smiths melancholia didn’t really do it for me.

Murmur by R.E.M.
May 16 2025
Parallel Lines by Blondie
Aug 05 2025

This is nostalgia for me and I adore it. Mum used to put it on all the time while doing housework, when I was a kid. Simple good memories. Objectively also a banger.

Frank by Amy Winehouse
Aug 11 2025
Justified by Justin Timberlake
Aug 13 2025

Meh - this didn’t age well. Not sure if it was even good to begin with.

Freak Out! by The Mothers Of Invention
Nov 07 2025
A Girl Called Dusty by Dusty Springfield
Nov 18 2025

Went from Joni to Dusty and (sorry Joni) for me Dusty wins by a long way

Apr 17 2026

Not sure why so many people are hating on this one, I found it perfectly agreeable. An interesting and pleasant listen. Yes a bit silly in places, but surely that was intentional and part of its charm in its day?
