O.G. Original Gangster
Ice TOne of the greatest old-school rappers in my opinion. Also, the song Body Count was the start of the band with the same name, which is fucking great, therefore this record is great just because of that alone.
One of the greatest old-school rappers in my opinion. Also, the song Body Count was the start of the band with the same name, which is fucking great, therefore this record is great just because of that alone.
It sounds like an episode of a cartoon that shows you how monotone the future will be and it plays you a song with an instrumental that has no sense. Didn't like it
I like post punk if it's done in a good manner. This really hurt my eardrum. Literally. I had tinnitus the whole day, and it's still going.
If he's not writing songs with The Beatles, John Lennon doesn't have ideas. Aside from Imagine, the other songs feel like fillers. It made me fall asleep, and it made me understand how amazing was the chemistry between those 4 individuals.
Not my favourite, but an amazing house record, very ahead of its time. Not on Spotify though...
If the Beatles were writing music while on a coma induced by an acid overdose, they would have done something better than this but along these lines. I usually like psychedelic stuff, but this is not my jam at all.
Pop/folk rock with indian influences. I can compare it to some extent with Oasis. I feel like indian music is hard to combine with other genres, and I didn't like it at all in this context.
Amazing record!!! I love everything Sting has done. Amazing voice and musicality overall. It's a shame that, from this record, only Every Breath You Take became a hit, because there are a lot of songs that are waaaaaaay better and more complex (not saying that that song is bad, it is an amazing song). Overall, I loved this record. P.S.: What the hell is with the song Mother??!?!?!?!?!
Good record, but even though those were different times, I can't look at the cover and be ok with the dude with the blackface, so I will give it 3 stars instead of 4. But a good album overall.
I haven't listened to this record in a while and I forgot how amazing it is!!! This record is packed with bangers. Also, while Slash is an amazing guitar player, it's worth noting Izzy's contribution. These two compliment each other so well with their guitar parts! Even though I am not a fan of the vocals, it works very well with the songs, and whether you like it or not, Axl's voice is unlike any other. Overall, this is a 5 star record for sure!
It's a vibe. I feel like I am listening to this record from a very small room. It's dark and it gives me some sort of anxiety. But it's an interesting experience and an interesting record. I kind of enioyed it. I don't know, I am having mixed feelings. But for an experience as trippy as this, I'll give it a 4. There are some parts I really enjoyed. Like some guitar parts that really expose the beauty of imperfection, because they are not played perfectly in tune, but they work perfectly fine.
This album, while is kind of cliche and cheesy all around, it is a great record of the hair/glam times. Pour some sugar on me is the hit, but Hysteria is such a great song. I would say that this record, along with Slippery When Wet from Bon Jovi, is the definition of hair and glam, and it was done damn right.
I don't know whether I like it or not... It's not bad, but it's not good either. It has some folk elements, some rock, blues and a bit of country. I am going to give it 3 stars because I am just confused.
not for me
Great voice, but the instrumental overall is a bit boring. But for a live record, this is very good.
Paul had much better records, this one feels more like a jam session
New-Wave Punk that works perfectly with a Scooby-Doo chasing. Loved it! The voice can be a bit bothering at times, but the rest of it sounds really good
I heard so many songs from this record, without knowing their title. Great album overall! Very good listening experience and very ahead of its time.
It was at least interesting
It's way too noisy. It sounds like a bad bad high school band practicing
I haven't listened to any Peter Gabriel, and I am not that much into Genesis, so I didn't really know what to expect. I actually enjoyed it a bit. The tracks were great for a debut solo record.
I didn't dislike it, but I didn't like it that much either. All the songs sound kind of the same. I am well aware of how influential this band is, but personally I don't see why.
Great jazz record, not much to say.
She's got a good voice, but the instrumentals are nothing special, and the record falls into the category of monotone.
Great voice, amazing arrangements, it was very good overall. My only complaint, some of the songs were a bit boring after a while, there was no variation.
It sounds like an episode of a cartoon that shows you how monotone the future will be and it plays you a song with an instrumental that has no sense. Didn't like it
It sounds like some random tiktok sounds. I don't like the voice either. It was meh.
Fun album, enjoyable listen, and overall great vibes!
It feels somehow like Evanescence combined with some Nine Inch Nails and Massive Attack at times. I don't know how to describe it really. But I enjoyed it a lot!
Boring supermarket background music.
I'll give it 3 stars, only because it has the song Layla on it. The rest of it is basic blues, but not that bad. If it wasn't for Layla, I would have given it somewhere around an 1.75
didn't like it.
A classic! I didn't enjoy it as much as the following records from this band, but I like it and I appreciate it a lot.
Interesting voice, but musically there wasn't that much to analyze.
Didn't really find anything interesting to this album, but it wasn't bad either.
This album defined a new generation. Truly revolutionary and a sound design that really is associated with Korn. I get that this album is not for everyone, but I enjoyed it a lot.
It wasn't bad, but too generic. No variation at all.
I liked it! I drove in GTA5 while listening to this. Good soundtrack. Nothing extremely special tho.
I fell asleep
A few songs are enjoyable, but I was never a big fan of this band. I never really understood the hype.
This is a perfect metal record! Not a single bad song on this album! Also the most cohesive album to date by this band. Everybody knows about Master Of Puppets and how great of a song it is, but all of the songs are incredible. Battery is my personal favourite, Orion is one of the most beautiful instrumentals ever, and Damage inc. is just a moshing track. Overall, this is THE metal album!
bongos.
I quite enjoyed it actually. Not my favourite but pretty cool considering the year. I think this album is one of the first post punk albums, but it is pretty cool
Not that bad, but I enjoy other songs more. Also, I don't get why Light My Fire became so popular. It's bad.
A great blues album, but not my favourite from Ray Charles
Nothing special. Not bad, but nothing special.
I liked it a lot! Great sound design considering it came out in 1980. The production is great as well. And the structure of the songs is more complex than anything at that time I think. Overall, a great experience.
It wasn't bad, just that I didn't quite resonate with it at first listen. Maybe I will come back to it and I will like it more in the future, but nonetheless it is interesting.
no
I didn't like it that much, but it's a bit better than most punk. I see how this might have paved the way to post punk.
Didn't like it. All folk and country is the same. I am not a fan of this genre
No. I don't like most Simon and Garfunkel stuff. Them separately are way worse. Stop.
Such an overrated artist
Nothing special, but enjoyable enough.
Very monotonous. Didn't like it.
Not good.
It was extremely long. For a drum n bass record, it was ok I guess. Nothing impressive.
Pretty interesting. The production isn't the best, but the composition is kinda good. 90s rap beats combined with soul/jazz.
Nothing special, but for its time I understand how this would have been pretty influential.
Why is this album on this list? I don't get it... there are many more electronic records to choose from that belong here, even from 1994, and you chose this? Not worth listening.
Why do a spoken intro? I don't need to hear an interview at the beginning of a record. Otherwise, it's pretty enjoyable. Still, in my opinion, Bring The Pain should be sung by Method Man only.
This sounds a lot like David Bowie. Not the worst, but I don't like brit-pop because of Oasis. Sorry, I have a personal beef with that band. I enjoyed this a bit more though.
It sounds like any french song from that era. I hate french music. Never got into it.
This album is the most technical out of all Metallica records. The problem with it, in my opinion, is not the production like everyone says. I actually think that the charm of it is in the fact that it sounds like it was produced in a garage. The problem is that, compared to Master of Puppets (which I personally think it doesn't have a single bad song), this album has some songs that feel like fillers, and those became popular (for example, Harvester Of Sorrow: nothing special about it, but fans love the shit out of that song). Songs like One, And Justice For All, Blackened and Dyers Eve are the ones that elevate this record. Anyway, this is Metallica at its best time in their career, and this album is great.
It's so shitty that somehow it works out. It is dark and goth with crappy vocals.
This is very cliche. Nothing interesting at all
Pretty cool sound design. The production could be better, but it works. It's new wave with some musical-like sensitivities. I could see a play with this soundtrack.
Pretty mediocre, but a good voice.
It sounds good, didn't hate it, but I didn't enjoy it that much either.
I didn't like it. I get it, it was a new sound design back then, but it's nothing that special tbh.
Not their best, but Immigrant Song is crushing
Not good.
Not that bad, but mostly background music. Also, rock & roll will never die, no matter how hard everyone tries.
Nothing exciting about it.
Their best record, and one that defined the new generation of pop-punk. Anyway, the length of some songs on it is unjustified, but in rest this is a good protest album.
Sometimes I just don't understand why some of these albums are on this list. What is it about this that I need to hear before I die? Nothing, I'll tell you.
I quite enjoyed it. It is interesting. Like the love child of Daft Punk and Massive Attack.
I love NIN, but this is not my favourite album from them, as groundbreaking as it is. I love most of the songs and the delivery though. It definitely made an impact on the music industry.
This sounds like a copy of a movie soundtrack that wasn't made to be that good.
A great example of the industrial genre. I get why many people don't like it, but I quite enjoyed it. It's like a more metal NIN.
It kinda sounds like a travel vlog soundtrack, but it is not that bad. Not good either
Not that bad, but some of the songs were kinda long and sounded like the soundtrack of a 2000's video game
It sounds like any other britpop record.I don't like it. It is very boring and samey.
It was alright I guess, pretty experimental for those times, but nothing revolutionary.
Interesting voice, but the music sounds like everything from those times, except for the title track, which has interesting riffs for 1968. By the way, it didn't need to have 17 minutes. There are long tracks that justify their length, this is not one of them.
Normally, I wouldn't like music like this because it's quite boring and repetitive, like all the music from those times. But with Ray Charles it's something different. He just captivates me somehow. I liked this a lot!
Why is this on the list... like really... Nothing special about it. It's bad. I get that it's raw but that doesn't mean it has to be shitty as well.
This was quite fun. I enjoyed it really. Latin jazz is something that I definitely wouldn't listen from my own initiative, so it was something different and interesting to listen.
This is, in my opinion, the best generation of punk music. It's raw and energetic while still sounding very good. Great album.
I get that David Bowie is very influential, but I never got into his music. There is something I really don't like at all. I don't know what and why.
Such a 90's sound! Love her voice and the songs. It made me feel like I was born then, even though I was born in 2003. Great record.
It's a cool combination of rap, rock and electronic, but nothing special really.
Veeery experimental. Unique vibe really. Not very much my cup of tea, but I appreciated it.
Very generic, very like 90s indie, but in the 00s. Nothing really enjoyable. I'll give it a 2 just because I didn't hate it.
Read poetry over a musical background. Somehow, it works. It sounds good and it's very calming. There is something mesmerizing about Leonard Cohen's deep voice. It makes you focus only on what he is saying.
I like post punk if it's done in a good manner. This really hurt my eardrum. Literally. I had tinnitus the whole day, and it's still going.
Didn't hate it, but I didn't like it either. Nothing special. The second song sounds like a commercial for boots.
I don't get Tom Petty. He may have had some good songs, even though I don't like those either, but this record sucks.
I never really understood why he was so influential. Even the worst covers of his songs sound better than the originals.
Motown essence! I love this period of music. Also this was the record that really launched Michael Jackson's solo career. Even though it's extremely different from any other Michael record released after this one, and not as good as them, it's still a great record that deserves recognition.
Sounds like any generic 80's new wave / post punk stuff, but it's not necessarily bad. Just generic.
Didn't find anything exciting about this album. It was okay I guess. Wouldn't listen to it again.
I love Tina Turner! Even though this album sounds a bit too 80's, it's great and it's different from other records because of her voice.
I never was a huge Thin Lizzy fan, because the songs don't have anything special from other rock music from that era, but I never hated the either. Anyway, this is a live record that sounds better than the studio recordings, and I actually enjoyed it. I was not expectng this.
Not as bad as I thought it would be, but I am not really sold on what Beach Boys put out, like ever. But not that bad.
I never liked the way he is singing, but I always admired his songwriting. It's a good album.
no.
One of the greatest old-school rappers in my opinion. Also, the song Body Count was the start of the band with the same name, which is fucking great, therefore this record is great just because of that alone.
Nothing special. It wasn't bad but too generic.
For some reason, I thought it sounded like he is trying to copy Sir Tom Jones in a way. I don't know if that makes any sense, it's just my thought. And I didn't like it.
It was quite bizzare. "Meh" at best
Those vocals are not good at all. The instrumental is not bad but not incredible either. Didn't like it that much.
A bit repetitive, but calming. Good sound design for that year.
I never liked this band. This album sucks. The vocals are not good.
Songs For The Deaf would have been the best pick from this band. QOTSA definitely belongs on this list, but this album is not as good as the next ones. I am not saying it's bad, it's very good, but if it was SFTD it would have gotten 5 stars.
Nothing special, but it's well recorded and the singer has a good voice. Just too generic
Amazing voice! I listened to it in awe. The songs were fun but there was nothing that stood out to me in the instrumentals. But his voice man, just perfect.
I am not the biggest RHCP fan, but this album varies from genre to genre, it has some amazing songs, and it is very funky. I enjoyed it a lot!
If Rammstein launched their career in the 80s and wouldn't have a clue how to write music, this is how it would have sounded. It's bad.
I like their disco era much better. This feels uninspired and very generic.
Not bad but not impressive either.
A hip hop classic. I liked it a lot, it reminded me of the GTA soundtrack.
I've said it before and I'll say it again, I love trip hop!! This is my first experience with Portishead and I loved it a lot! Amazing record
It's not bad, but come on, so many generic records on this list. I get that old music is good but not that good to include so many records that sound almost the same.
Monotonous voice and songs. Nothing special. It's just ok.
It was ok I guess. Didn't enjoy it so much.
It sounds old school but in a new manner. It's ok.
Great trip-hop record!! I love this genre, and I love the fact that Tricky did his own thing, he didn't copy entitely the Massive Attack formula. Amazing!
Too country/folky for me. It's not bad by any means, but I didn't enjoy it.
Yet another newer record that sounds old. I get that the people who compiled this list miss being young and discovering artists, but if it sounds like the 70's it's not automatically the best thing ever.
No. Just no. I fucking hate the creators of this list. My 5 months old cousin can compile a better list. This album is just noise. Incomprehensible noise can be good if done good. This is bad. Very bad.
Not bad, but it sounds like many other new wave bands. Nothing different from others from that time.
I didn't like it that much. Also they got a Grammy in 1989 instead of Metallica. It should have been Metallica. I will always hate this band because of that.
I don't get why it is such a popular band. Never really liked anything. I thought maybe Sex On Fire became a hit because it was accesible, and the other songs were more interesting, but it wasn't the case. Also, his voice is screeching my eardrum.
Finally, a rock record that differentiates itself from others. I liked it a lot!! Also, Carlos Santana sings with his guitar. He has a soul like no other.
It was quite interesting, but nothing stood out to me that much.
It was more interesting than I was expecting, but it didn't do much to me. It was pretty good though. I enjoyed it.
Too generic. I never found anything interesting about Bruce Springsteen. It's just too "american" for me I guess.
It's good for what it is but, yet again, too "american" for me. I just picture a bery nationalist american family driving a minivan to a caban in the woods.
Wow, the second Bruce Springsteen record in 2 days time. I get why this one is on here, because it has the hits and the iconic voice, but did he really deserve to have more than one album on here? The writer must be a nationalist and consider this guy a national treasure. I'll give it a 2 just because these songs were hits, but I am so sick and tired of them.
Mellow jazz infused hip hop I would call this. I really got into it. I was constantly engaged. It's a really interesting album
It was ok. Nothing very special to me, but ok.
It feels like any song could fit the credits outro of any generic movie played in the morning on any tv channel. Very monotone.
I don't like the voice. At all. The whole record is very forgetable. I am okay with anything being repetitive as long as it is also good. This didn't do it for me even though the instrumental is not terrible. The singer ruined it.
I don't listen to this kind of music, but it's pretty fun to listen to once. Also, the musicality is very cool, with great interval choices. And the congos are very fun.
Amazing rap record! I always liked this one a lot. Everything related to Wu-Tang Clan deserves a listen if you like rap. This album is dark and very cool.
I never really enjoyed The Smiths. This wasn't that different. I found his voice a bit annoying. The guitar work was ok though.
It was ok, but I feel like this is the soundtrack to any supermarket, which is a shame. But the songs were ok, nothing really left me impressed.
I actually enjoyed this one more than I thought I would. It was very groovy and accessible for a jazz/bossa nova album. Great work on this one.
I always heard the name of this band, but I always thought they were a gothic doom metal outfit. This kinda caught me off guard. It wasn't that bad by any means, but the vocals ruined it all for me.
Was this meant to be the soundtrack of a musical? I didn't quite understand it. It was all around pretty goofy, but not in the best way.
Nothing special going on in this one. Didn't hate it, didn't love it. The dissonances were pretty unjustified though
Another one that is a part of Wu-Tang. I liked it pretty much. It was quite interesting. Not a song sounded the same. Very cool and enjoyable album.
Extremely diverse album! It started with an eleven minutes long prog rock masterpiece, and it continued with one of the most recognizable songs from Sir Elton, and a beautiful one as well. Every song on this record is amazing in its own right. Amazing, very very good musically speaking, and it gets the listener through a variety of genres.
I am used to way better from Fleetwood Mac. These are just some demos as far as I'm concerned. I don't know why this album is on this list.
No longer on Spotify, so I don't like this aspect. Music-wise, I guess it was good considering the time of release, but it didn't really age that well.
When you blend indian musicality with electronic music, I expect much more to come out of it. This was nothing that interesting. Way more cool stufd could have been done with this.
Ok, I know he's an amazing composer and all, but I really don't think he deserves that many spots on this list. He already has many albums on it, the last thing this list needed was a live record from him as well. Also, almost all the covers of his songs are better than the originals.
Considering the music released in the present, this actually aged quite well. Incredible performance on this album, and amazing music overall. Great orchestration, great vocals. I enjoyed it a lot.
I don't get why this album is as praised as it is. I didn't find it interesting, and I really don't see how this was important for the revolution of punk rock. Really, I don't know why people like it as much as they do.
Aside from the main song, which is incredible jn many ways, this record was good. It didn't blow me away by any means, but musically it was very interesting. But none of the other songs can stand up to Sweet Dreams.
This was not bad, but not that great either. He has a great voice, his son's was very similar as well. So, because he is Jeff Buckley's father, and I love Jeff's music, I will give it a 3.
This was just boring. I don't get the inclusion in the list. Also, the guy's voice annoys me.
I imagine this was groundbreaking in 1978. This sounds pretty cool nowadays, so I believe that back then this was something unheard and amazing. Great work!
I quite enjoyed this one! Very cool musical choices overall, britpop with punk edges executed really well!
They already had The Beatles in the 60's, they didn't need another one. I didn't get why this is on the list, I don't find anything groundbreaking to it.
Not that good. Some songs were ok at best, but the others were just fillers.
This one feels like a good precursor to grunge and post-hardcore. It had some amazing moments.
Didn't find anything interesting to this.
It's hard for a band to become this popular from their debut album, but for Boston it is well deserved. This album has some great melodies and harmonies, and good musicality overall
It bored me to death. That's all.
This sounds like a movie soundtrack. Pretty cool sounds and the tracks had a different vibe each.
I never got into Leonard Cohen's music. Like in Bob Dylan's case, I always thought the covers were way better. He creeps me out
I would have loved to be there when they chose this name for the band, it sounds like a fun meeting. Aside from that, there was nothing that interesting.
Wow, so much work for an album cover, I'm impressed! (not) Jokes aside, the music was actually interesting. Some pretty dark vibes, but the mix is not good at all. I think it fits the genre though.
I never paid that much attention to Joy Division, but I didn't need to either. It's just an ok album
The last album from the first iteration of Queen's sound, which I am actually a big fan of. More proggy and heavier than the next releases. This is a very good record and it fully deserves the spot on this list.
Very interesting and chaotic at the same time, but it kept me wondering what comes next. I think this is the most important thing when listening to a new artist.
It had some songs that stood out, but not enough. I guess his work with Gnarls Barkley is a bit better. This is not bad by any means but it's not that good either
Boring. Enough said.
As a metalhead, I say that every single soul that likes or plays metal should be grateful for this record! Everything related to metal exists because of this band and this record. Starting the record with one of the heaviest riffs ever written to this day, and continuing with genre-defining songs. In 1970, this was completely groundbreaking, and even now it is cited by metalheads all around the globe. This marks the beginning of a never-ending era.
No. It's bad. I don't like it at all.
I know, I know, it's repetitive and stuff, but this album sounded different from anything in that same time period. And it sounded very good. It's far from their best, but it is good.
This is actually fun, instrumentally speaking. The vocals are not the worst, but it could have been better if she made different choices regarding the voice. Otherwise, a pretty fun record.
It sounds like any rock record from the same period of time. Nothing exciting. I get that back then the music was better, but come on, it doesn't mean that it's a must listen album before death. The editors of this list must be some old bastards.
Not bad, but a bit boring.
I think Marvin Gaye is a bit too overrated. Like, his voice is amazing for sure, but there were other artists in the 70s that did what he did better. Nevertheless, this is a good album, the songs are groovy and he sings amazing
The second Beatles record if I remember right. It sounded the same like the first, but they were praised like hell. Of course, they remain one of, if not the best, band of all time, but their later work was actually interesting
This lady has such an interesting vocal tone, and the songs are great blues/jazz songs. Very creative for those times. I liked this a lot.
Very generic. It sounded like any movie intro/outro.
This is a very good record. They took the 70s acoustic rock/folk thing and made it more interesting. Also the vocals suit the songs very well.
I never was a huge fan of Aerosmith, especially later Aerosmith. It's fun and stuff but I always liked other bands with the same kind of style from that same period. But this record was kinda fun and enjoyable.
This record deserves 3 stars just for Cult Of Personality. One of the greatest songs ever written. The rest of the songs were ok, but none of them can raise to the level of that one.
It was pretty chaotic, but not the good kind of chaos. I didn't enjoy it
Not a single sweat broken when thinking of that band name huh? Anyway, the songs were pretty generic. This is just a band like any other from the 60s. "A" Band, not "THE" Band.
This album feels like the end of glam rock and the start of grunge. Nothing that exciting, but a great record. Where is my mind is a banger still.
I don't like country. It's all the same. This sounds ok but it still is country.
Second country album in a row. I don't like country.
This was pretty fun actually! I liked it very much. It was different than anything released in the 2000s, and it sounded pretty new for those times.
Fun and enjoyable soul. I had a good time listening to it.
He did the same thing as he did with The Smiths. So nothing that special.
And exactly why does this band belong on this list? I want to meet the editors. I feel like after album 100 they just compiled a list of random records. This is not bad but it's most definitely not good.
