I thought it was a fun listen, I only knew the title track, radio version, so to hear it all added a lot of depth. The first songs seemed oddly generic to me, but I sensed a flow and story/thematic elements, that gave the rest of the album purpose, I guess. The title track was a real trip, a fun dive down psychadelia. I got some 'echoes' vibes in the middle, which I found interesting seeing as this came out first. For it's age I thought it held up decently, but still showed it's age. Overall I appreciated this album, but don't see a need to revisit anything other than the title track.
This was a good debut album, The rhymes were great, samples were tasty. Far different than the gangster rap of the era. The 'sameness' of the flow and songs brought it down a bit for me, but solid for sure.
THE supergroup of their era, what an album. While I really enjoyed every track, and the uniqueness of each member and their contributions, I think I need a few more listens to gain deeper appreciation for the whole project to really take it to the next level, which I do think is there.
A few good classic radiohead songs, a few I don't care for, and a few kid a leftovers
Nothing really stand out, other than Get It On, pretty good for the times, kinda one of those fun songs not like I have it on repeat, most songs blended together into whatever, but really appreciated the out of left field sound of Rip Off, kind of went out with a bang.
I didn't really know Muddy's music before this, but dang was this a lot of fun, and to read this was a comeback album?! I'm excited to hear the rest, sure it was absolutely classic formulaic blues, but it was damn fine.
The album is pretty dang solid, first half is an absolute masterclass, then fades a little, but not too bad, and hammers it home with the classic free bird. This many mega hits on one album, dang!
I mean she has a great voice, and the album sounds great; but the album just isn't meant for me.
I mean, I couldn't understand it so tough to connect. It sounded fine, I liked the variations in song styles, singers and sounds etc, so could appreciate the music a bit, but reading about it sounds like it rides classic love tropes, humorous, sad, and funny.
Opened pretty strong, then I tired of the similar sounds/themes, then i had 6 more tracks left. There was nothing terrible wrong with it, few hits, felt like a lot of background noise filler though on reflection
Didn't know the history, didn't know what to expect, but it wasn't that. I appreciated his voice sounded good, the album sounded decent, really like the idea of a whole musical experience rather than just a few tracks. But this was wild man, it was disjointed, didn't flow to me, didn't make sense, I didn't know whether to laugh at animals and vegetables, cry during some of the children ones, mostly I was confused, but I definitely didn't smile.
Back to back Beach Boys was rough. Didn't like the old sounding campy kiddie pop songs right off the bat, then student demonstration time came on and I was thinking who even is this and what is this album. Sort of redeemed it though. Then Brian Wilson's songs came on and right after listening to smile I couldn't take anymore.
My intro to Dusty, knew Son of a Preacher Man, but there were some other really good tracks as well. I really appreciated the more positive love vibes reflective of the era, other than the mopey depressing ones. Love her voice, album sounded great, few fillers to me
Knew the two huge ones, and of course loved em, the rest of the album felt rather blase, until street spirit which I had never heard, absolutely loved it, best song on the album for me. So a few absolute loves, and mostly indifference from me, but a solid album.
For as raw as it is, the album is extremely polished, well put together and thought out. Knowing nothing about Fugazi, I thought the album was alright, reading more, I thought they are awesome. Wish I knew about em in era.
Other than the hits my intro to the rest of the catalog, was it kinda goofy, yea, but you could tell they were piecing it together for later efforts, but still this one rocked. Procession had me thrown for a loop, but father to son, incredible, and it never really let up.
Sounded pretty good from top to bottom, experimented with different sounds and styles while still sounding like "them". Nothing really stood out as memorable though
Really good album again, but wouldn't seek out much more than sultans, especially the live version
It was fine, I didn't love it, didn't hate it, looking forward to other bowie though.
That was certainly an album, less chaotic and obscure than smile, but still just a collection of scatterbrained thoughts and rhythms. At least could have it on in the background however
All I knew of them was maps and the wolf song, this was a surprise for sure compared to those. The early 2000's punk sound was not expected. It was fine, I just wouldn't seek it out again.
The music is....fine...forgettable really, but the talking over everything....I certainly hope I'm just in a bad streak of experimental albums but it's wearing on me.
Sounds pretty good for nearly 50 years old, Pump it up and Lipstick Vogue were the real hits here, the rest, somewhat forgettable, and the synth sounding thing is sounding a bit dated.
I liked and knew E-Pro, fun song to listen to, liked a few of the mixed up varieties like que onda, the middle of the album just kinda blended together to just songs that sounded like Beck. Liked a few of the ending tracks with that twang sound, but probably wouldn't revisit anything.
Really liked the music on this album, it was poppy, driving, tension building; really good. The vocals being the xx style of kinda monotone, emotionless, brought it down just a bit, but I really enjoyed this album.
The debut album was...fine.. a bit all over the place, mostly generic 60's rock sound with a few flashes townshend and moon sprinkled in there to tease just who they would become, looking forward to later stuff more.
I get why it's here, but I guess the 60's just ain't for me. Somebody to Love was the only one I really enjoyed. Quality sounded good, Grace was the better vocalist by far.
I mean it was an album, an album not for me, he can sing fine, then we got some weird voices on the last few tracks
Heard Daft Punk, Chemical Bros influences in there. They drove a solid beat, but had some aggressive sounds not really my style. The party was tik tok lite amirite
Superstition absolutely fantastic, the rest was not for me, too sappy. Sounds ok just, forgettable.
Well his guitar was pretty good and had some interesting sounds and concepts, but his voice drove me crazy. Pretty out there album, not for me
I didn't really like the doors' hits before this, and this just further confirmed it. Just kinda of boring blues esque with one note vocals.
Never heard of the fall, didn't know what to think, but it certainly wasn't that. The music was pretty tight and interesting, the ah vocals ah were certainly ah unique, not great, but didn't drive me insane like some other voices so far.
Enjoyed it fine
The 2 hits were great, the rest was solid rem, enjoyed the harder rock sound
I liked hearing the individual collaborators contributions and styles, but I didn't really get a taste for hooker himself. Was a good classic blues listen, but want to hear more him
Really nostalgic for me as one of my first memories of my mom sharing music with me, mother was just as bad then as well lol. But the rest of the album is pretty dang solid even with all the nostalgia.
Wild this sound with in 77, seems like it was probably ahead of the times. Really liked the uniqueness of it, but wouldn't be on repeat from me.
I guess I just like the hits, was just so 80's and so about sex
Thought it was more interesting to read about than listen to, sounded...ok...didn't feel the energy to want to go back though
The hits absolutely rock, the rest of the album is really solid texas 70's rock, solid listen but only the hits stand out.
Sounded just fine for something I only want to hear on rewatches of happy gilmore
TIL what chill house is, it sounds good, and chill, but I need some energy!
Can't deny it's a great album, but can't rate appropriately with who he's become
You got Mission Impossible 2, The Undertaker, a few other absolute hits that made up my early 2000's, so I gotta give it SOME credit, the rest of the album was musically fine, but the lyrics, hilariously bad. Certainly an album!
Album was a nothing burger, not sure why it's on any list. Too generic 2000's absolutely no standouts or reason to listen again.
Some decent ska, some pointed messages, some good hits, I just kinda wanted it to be over though
Really into the dark sound, really not into the vocalist, ok album
I just don't like 60's floyd, you can hear the pieces, but the 60's is still there and eh.
The music sounds good, lauryn's got a great voice, I thought the classroom bits on love were creative, but it didn't resonate with me and went on a bit too long.
Yeah it sounds a bit dated at this point, but damn does nostalgia hit hard. Still pretty solid album overall from me
Ridiculous pop hair metal, but I'll be damned if it wasn't a fun listen from top to bottom.
Great album for me to get deeper into sabbath other than the very few tracks I knew. Some great guitar rhythm and solos throughout, opening track fantastic. Lost the energy with a few in the middle, but there was always a track there to bring it back good and heavy.
Absolutely wild album, wild story, just really didn't like 95% of the sound of the whole thing, but props for the precursor to punk
Yikes
While it certainly reminds me of my junior high years; pardon me while I still haven't grown to like em 25 years later.
Was surprised by this one, honestly really good sound top to bottom, was sad to read about it's failure in era, unforgettable? no- but absolutely solid.
Absolutely brought me back to the 90's and reminded me of my best friend and I listening to them loving it. These days it just kinda sounds like generic pop punk, the hits are formulaic hits, but still fun, but also not really my jam anymore.
The sad story didn't make me enjoy it anymore, liked the 2nd half a little better, but yeah
Really enjoyed the album top to bottom, love the hits still, surprised by a few I hadn't heard before
Really enjoyed the flow early with a strong driving beats and had high hopes for the rest, but it faded into insignificant covers, and felt like it lost it's way. Overall enjoyed the listen and reading more about them and the album, definitely belongs on the list.
The most british 90's pop rock I have ever heard. A fine listen just not for me
Did not expect all the variety having only known the title track, decently fun listen, not bad
Still like blitzkreig bop, the rest all sounds the same. It does sound good for the 70's has the punk roots in it, but still has some of the campy-ness of the era.
It's fine, common people, and i spy were the most interesting to me, good sound, though, just not for me 30 years later.
First Sonic Youth, only knew a song or two, didn't seem like the best intro album, I liked the uniqueness of their sound, shadow was pretty good, staying open to other albums.
Still appreciate the uniqueness and different sounds they are putting out, still not sure it's for me
fun and interesting, sounds good for nearly 70 years old
It's a good album, nice easy listening, I just won't come back to it, but will enjoy the hits when I heard them in the wild
I was too weak to not listen to the whole thing hoping for something, but I'm strong enough to give this my first 1 star
Did I enjoy it absolutely not, 2 stars for recognizing their influence and it least it was pushing boundaries and challenging, unlike some other generics on the list
It sounded good, was creative, decent listen, but that's about it
Just sounded like every other pop style generic music out of the 60's. Not bad, just whatever
Read a review that there's a fine line between you don't get it and I just don't care, and I found myself in the latter. Some good experimentation, some good sounds, some tracks hit hard, but yeah, moving on.
Did I enjoy listening - not really Are there important aspects of early synthpop, maybe edgy lyrics, some reason for this to be here - not sure and don't really care
First half sounded fine but I just didn't care for it, second half was much better, more aggressive and energetic sounding, enjoyed it and the classic take me to the river.
I enjoyed most of it, I really appreciated the sound difference from everything else I know of in the 70's. Just not really my jam though
Great voice, some decent beats, easy listen, just not a re listen
Some good freddie and brian, but I mostly only liked killer queen and stone cold crazy the most. I think I liked II a little bit more, but still really solid
I didn't hate it, but feel like I didn't need to hear it either
Was ok background music, caught a few oakenfold type vibes in there
Maybe 10 more listens and I would appreciate so muc more; hugely ambitious with a broad reach of topics/ styles, but it just didn't catch my attention
a nice surprise, chill, but funky, soulful and smooth, got out before it wore out, good listen
lovefool carried hard
Brings ya back to the times for sure, don't really enjoy it these days, decent listen though
a decent easy gentle listen, liked the guitar work, his voice took a bit to grow on me, but I overall enjoyed the album
sounded much better than other 60's albums sounds, decent listen, decent folk album
not my style but ok listen
I like some of the later stuff, even revisit it from time to time, this...I won't
Not a bad listen, but I did almost fall asleep. Better than I thought
just a fun listen to groove to while working
enjoyed it much more than dont stand me down, no nonsense talking over the tracks, most were fun listens and catch, and good ol eileen brought it home
yeah it's billy joel, yeah it was a pretty good listen top to bottom with some huge hits in there as well, not really my style but gotta appreciate it
It was fine, but there really isn't 1000 better?
At first I thought it was nice background music with a nice story, but I really enjoyed it more the longer it went on, fantastic listen
Was interesting ethereal, haunting, and kinda disjointed, random, chaotic, all things I kinda dig, but I couldn't fully get into. Love a good 17 minute long song though
Can't get enough
Definitely sounded like 90's grunge, I was really into the music, the vocals lacked the energy I'm really into, but a surprisingly nice listen, never listened to screaming trees before.
Groovin' was fine, but just sounds like 60's pop
Pretty solid, liked the hits, like the energy in painkiller more
Her voice is pretty good, the vibrato was getting to me a bit though, too old of folk for me
Liked it a lot more than I thought I would, some decent prog rock in there but a lot of forgettable stuff in here as well,
bummer man
Top to bottom it's oozing with energy / power / sex / fun, every note brought something, even as corny and 80's as it sounds, its got funk, soul, great guitar, great album
At first I was like oh great more 80's brit pop rock, but they had quite a few different sounds going for them on top of that, decent listen but I won't revisit it
For '68 sounded pretty good, smooth easy listening, some catchy vibes, not bad, wish I knew more
Only knew 1 Pixies song before this so didn't know what to expect, it was an interesting listen for sure. I'm new to the quiet/loud dynamic, it was interesting not in a bad or good way, music was tight and interesting and definitely set up the 90's sound. Overall enjoyed the listen but not my tops
I guess I just don't like noise rock
The jug was certainly something, I appreciated it actually sounded psychedelic separating itself from the rest of the 60's generic rock I really don't like. Still so 60's though, and the jug, mostly appreciate it for being the beginnings of psychedelia, not so much for listening these days
3 for the music 4 for the influence
Far more varied than I thought, some good easy listening with a few tracks really catching me off guard for who I thought they were (I didn't know anything)
Reminded me of A Tribe Called Quests simple beats that were catchy and great for rapping over, but was a departure as it seemed like an intro to gangsta rap as well, interesting period of time and listen for sure, appreciated it, not my fav.
I liked the title track from it's fame, the rest, well it sounded good, chill nice composition, but I just found it boring.
Wildly ambitious double album, Appreciated the differences between each member, everything sounded pretty good with a few hits in there, I just got tired of it all by the end
Sounded pretty unique for it's time, Gloria was the star by far, the rest wasn't bad, more appreciated it for what it is than liked listening to it.
top to bottom really solid with some different sounds in there as well. Glad to hear something out of the 60's that doesn't sound like everything else, good chill listening
A fun, quirky, decent listen top to bottom, it just didn't actually make me want to dance
Sounded good all the way through, a few interesting bits of guitar here and there, just not enough energy for me, enjoyed the listen though
Well made, unique sounding all the way through. Respect the album, enjoyed some bits, but not my jam
Was fine
Yeah it's a run on album but I'll be damned if it wasn't a foot tappin', finger snappin' great 45 minutes. Incredible for almost 70 years old.
Half of it was awesome, other half was solid, really good for 1970, fun listen
Really high energy show, fun to listen to, wish the quality was better and he wasn't a piece of shit
Is it going on my playlist, probably not, but it was a helluva ride!
Nice variety of Neil in one place, good listen, good length before the sound wears me down
Great easy listen, I just fell asleep twice trying to get through
Classic Dolly listen, quite the variety of subjects, good songwriting, music sounded good, just not my jam
Fantastic, caught me by surprise having only known 21st century prior to my listen, loved it, but the bits(you know the bits) kinda sucked the air out a little too much for a full 5
It's decent, wasn't great, felt the influence on others though for sure
It was good but nothing stood out too much on first listen
Really enjoyed the sounds for not understanding a word, gotta respect the skill, good rapping, good variety, good listen
Yeah I dunno, its Blur again, Song 2 the obvious hit since we've all heard it a million times, I liked beetlebum alright, maybe better than parklife, but the rest just confirmed I don't like blur too much
Really liked the lo-fi ness of the music highlighting the lyrics that were smart, sharp, aggressive, really brought the energy. Great listen
yeah more brit pop, it's....fine...I just don't want anymore
Liked the concept and cohesiveness, liked the music more than my generation, but it's still the who, who i am moderately lukewarm on, still
Good listen, but ultimately I'll probably forget about it as time goes on
Quite the eclectic sounds, synth, slide guitar sounding synth, xylophone, just none of it enjoyable it's so bland, I can't get over that to give the monotone lyrics the time of day. Leonard ain't for me so far
maybe set the 90's up, but rather dull these days
Great listen even without the hits
fine but forgettable
I mean it's chill and you just kind of zone out,, but I feel like I've heard plenty of these types
A lot of fun to listen to, tons of energy, good variety, language barrier be damned it was a great listen
A Good ol classic country album, sounded really good
Thought the first mega track had some really good interesting parts, but some other parts, and the rest of the album for that matter didn't resonate with me
Enjoyed the energy they brought, some good lead action, too bad quality is so bad, decent listen though, liked it more than what I have in my mind of coming out of the 60's
Good soul, good funk, good beats, a good listen, surprised me
Maybe foundational, Maybe transformative, I wasn't interested
sounded like the 90's
really enjoyed most of the stuff here, a few fillers to me bring it down a notch
It's...an album....sounds fine just didn't match my energy
Quite interesting, but not quite memorable
Better than I thought for 60's, good precursor to punk, but eh, moving on
Not really sure which way to go here, I think the concept is good, seems like cash in his prime yelling for a glass of water, easy to see his appeal, and this albums place in history. But musically, it was rough for me, Him and june did not sound good and the music is very simple, but catchy.
was fine and chill but I'll forget about it by the end of the day
Pretty good early grunge paving the way for the rest, didn't hear any hits, but enjoyed it
Can see how it set the stage for so many, enjoyed quite a few of the hits, but the second half was too much of a 50's love song snoozefest for me
A good listen, lots of energy, some unique sounds even though most everything sounds the same. Starting to feel dated
feedback woof, the rest is decent, my bias towards what they inspired and bands i do follow that cover the dead hit them with the 3
I can see how the beach boys sound good enough for someone to like them, but alas I do not
Solid all the way through and holds up quite nicely 20 years later.
Decent not really my jam though
Fun listen while working
Masterpiece
eh
Quite dated but decent voice and tunes
decent listen, could consider revisiting but not at top of my list
Fun, goofy listen
Good stuff here, the family guy skit ruined me though
Only knew the big hits, the rest was not what I was expecting at all, but reading about it and listening through it, their transformation and growth really shines here. Not the most energetic listen, but good stuff all the way through
Really marked a formative period of time for me, holds up for the most part
Way more interesting than I thought based on apple listing them as alternative
Too few great moments, but when it was good it was good
Really good listen
I'm in the 3 camp, it was decent, just not on my playlist
Some more interesting bits than I thought there would be, however, just that 60's sound that I don't really like
Great voice, easy listening
Wasn't bad, wasn't great, but it sure was a long half hour
yep it's great
good voice good sound, just not my jam
unique, well made, interesting, I just didn't enjoy any of it
Love the big hits, some other decent ones, the rest kinda just blended in with my work day
Some decent guitar work throughout, filled with some whatever
There were a few moments that kept it from a 1, but that was about it for me
some decent stuff, mostly beck
Was ok but I won’t remember it
Liked the beats, the rhythm, the message, little too over the top and repetitive, but good listen
It was fine, slightly different enough from trying to be like the beatles for the 3
Mad respect for the work that went into it an the obvious influences the work had, but I just didn't like listening to it
I always love some good guitar riffs, but there wasn't much else here
I guess it'd put me to sleep
I dunno, I think I'm learning I don't really like Bowie's music
Just another random collection of noise
Didn't know what to expect especially after the first praise song, but man this was solid all the way through, o children gave me chills which took it straight to a four, probably worth another listen and could go higher
hits were still good, decent variety, pretty good sound, little long, alright listen
Maybe Neil is wearing on me, maybe I'm just tired today
pretty decent
I dunno, It's produced amazingly and sounds great, something about his vocals just doesn't do it for me though, not even counting who he is now, but it is a good album. Well put together a lot of uniqueness while maintaining cohesion.
Hmm fantastically produced, wonderfully melodic and almost morose, quite a few great songs, but I got kinda bored and tired of most of the rest. Strong 3.5
certainly was unique, but a decent listen
some good sounds here, one great guitar bit, but largely forgetable
It was fine
Nice easy listening willie
It's Dylan, great song writing, music, but his intonations and voice hold it back from a 5 for me
What a trip, musically sounds good, her voice is good, his eh, lyrically insane
You know it was ok, but I'm not going to remember a single song off it
Decent listen but didn't grab me
Certainly was unique, not really my jam
It sounds like classic christmas music, which I guess is what spector did, was make this The classic sound, which has some merit to it, but murder yeah. I still haven't figured if I'm rating solely on music / influence. or everything....
Don't get me wrong, there is quite a lot of great things here, and some even better than the rest, but also some real strange things, yes very beatles, but just left me thinking this album wouldn't be missing anything if a few songs weren't on it.
Was a trip for sure, didn't like the first few but as it went on the story presented itself beautifully. Really piqued my interest, and even went back for some more, and stuck with me the next day pondering the album some more
got a little out there towards the end, the hit was great, the rest was ok
Pretty decent, good 90's stuff here
The history and time it was made helps? in my mind, but wow that was a wild trip
It's elton he's awesome, some great stuff here just a few songs I didn't need
decent, pretty forgettable, but enjoyed the last track, good note to end on
Production was great, but I won't remember a thing other than cars are cars and that's probably not the takeaway
Other than the intro to phoenix, some great stuff here
Was pretty good only previously knowing a song or two of his, outro woof, might need to give him more time rating could go up
It was fine
Was a fun listen, will I listen to more, or explore more, unclear
Didn't like as much as big pink ,but it was decently alright, cripple creek great
It was fine to have on in the background
I accidentally listened to it twice and still can't remember a thing about it
Pretty decent with a few better than the rest
It was fine but really drug on
Really didn't know any SZA songs before this, was better than I thought
Was fine, already forgot about it
Never heard of her, but interesting unique voice, decent album, caught myself bopping along a bit
Huge reminder of a simpler time in my life, some absolute hits I still really enjoyed, while still chilling and grooving to the rest, even went into the B side and kept on enjoying
Liked the production and message
Good rock, terrible lyrics, decent sound, 100% lemmy, more fun on guitar hero
Never heard of em idk why but was a pleasant surprise, solid 3.5 from me will round up from from the joy i didn't think an unknown would get me
Lyrically and energy wise rock solid, musically I was over it by the end
Really nice listen, probably missing a lot of time / cultural context as to his genius, but for 70 year old tunes they hold up nicely
It was fine but nothing stood out
Pretty good album, first half much better, but nice listen
Only knew sympathy off this one going in but was pleasantly surprised by the exploration by the stones here, all sounded really nice and unique for the times
I wanted to give it a 3 because it's ok like most things I've heard so far, but it just grated on me after an hour
Maybe the most aptly named album thus far. I liked that vulgarity and power, but was missing cowboys the whole time, solid for the genre
I see two I give two, it was fine but made me want it to be over sooner than it was
It was fine but I'm not going to remember it
Still Dylan's voice but you can't deny the songs are great, loved the split album too
some good some bad some wild it had it all
I guess it was ok because it was a short best of
I thought nostalgia for the few hits might carry this a bit, but even the hits were better in the past. Sounded like he so desperately wanted to be cool by being edgy. As the kids that was cringe
Well at least the live albums are mostly best of's, so I got to hear most of the thin lizzy stuff I like, 1 or 2 new songs that were nice
Reading about it was more interesting than listening to it
Solid reggae
Well that was wild, interesting, bad, good, wild
Totally 2000's alt rock, fine, but moving on
Had my doubts going in but was pleasantly surprised, didn't notice i had the remaster on so I though it was from 23 and I was like oh it kinda tracks with some other stuff I listen too like The Midnight, but oops, it was the 10 year remaster, really cool to learn that this maybe helped set the stage a bit, good listen overall as well
oh that's who that is
I mean it was just live at folsom, I dunno which one was first
Some nice melodies here, lot of boring repetition that a lot in the genre suffer from, halcyon was nice, idk 2.5ish round up
Caught my ear as a nice background to work, looking forward to another though, 3.5 rounding down with promise of looking forward to more
A lot of good stuff here, it does fade as it goes on but still quite enjoyable, really want to give a 4 for how much I enjoyed half of the album...we'll see
That was a trip
Was better than the other beach boys I've had so far, but yea a 3
I found some pieces interesting, some boring
Well live albums are just greatest hits which seem like they don't even belong here, however with a jam band like this you need to hear them live, great fusion blues country rock that is CLEAN for live, some great guitar here, also a little meandering that kinda drug it down for me
Some really good and interesting, some not so much
When you know over half the lyrics by heart without realizing they were from one album you can't deny the juggernaut this album is
I enjoyed it, unique fun sounding, but top 1001, woof
