Meh. Seemed to me to try too much to channel or mimic Lou Reed or that genre. No melody or lyrics or other hook to grab the listener. If I was in a bad mood perhaps I could have gotten into it more.

Not a style of music I enjoy

“Love and Affection” was one of the first songs that my brother and I bonded over after a couple of serious sibling rivalry teenage years. Now he’s one of my favorite people ever. So is Joan Armatrading. Five stars just for this memory.

My initial reaction was to dismiss this album out of hand, as I’ve never found a hook in Todd Rungren. I kicked myself for being narrow minded and listened to the album. Still haven’t found the hook, this didn’t catch me.

I’m impressed with the talent Queen Latifah clearly possesses, though I’m no fan of rap even when she’s singing it
